That is the Petting Zoo, a lovely little area where children can spend time in the company of our very friendly farm animals. Continuing turning left past the bridge will take you to the Toddler’s Play Pool. Alternatively, taking a right at the Petting Zoo will bring you down to the Fairy Palace. Following the road that leads to a dead end takes you to Winter Wonderland. Here, we use snow machines to create a magical world of winter delights. Waterworld is for the older kids only, a place where they can play about in the water to their heart’s content.
第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
If you’re traveling to South America in summer, you should have Patagonia (at the southern end of South America) high up on your list of things to do. With this list, I show you the best places to visit in Patagonia. The climate down there is pretty rough, especially in the very south — if you plan to do hiking or camping, the best time for a trip is between the end of November and the beginning of March.
Bariloche, Argentina
The fact that Bariloche is well connected (airport, direct bus to and from Buenos Aires) makes it the perfect starting point of a round trip through Patagonia. But more than that: the combination of mountains, lakes and green forests results in its beautiful scenery.
Futaleufú, Chile
Further down south and a bit harder to access is the small Chilean village Futaleufú which is located at the border to Argentina. The reason which makes it worth it: the Futaleufú River is often referred to as one of the best white water spots for rafting in the world. The scenery along the river is unique and, due to its location, still pretty much untouched.
Puerto Rio Tranquilo, Chile
If you want to get there quickly, you should travel through Argentina and cross over to Chile Chico as this place is also very remote. The reason to do so: the marble caves in the General Carrera lake.
Torres del Paine, Chile
Personally the national park Torres del Paine is my number 1 attraction in Patagonia — you should take some time and go for a multi-day hike to experience as much of it as possible: glaciers, forests, impressive mountain ranges, lagoons and rivers.
21. Which of the following is the best time for hiking in Patagonia?
A. March 5 — June 1 B. December 25 — January 15
C. November 5 — April 7 D. October 1 — November 1
22. Which of the following about the Futaleufú River is true?
A. It lies in an easily accessible village. B. It is ignored due to rafting sports.
C. It is the best rafting river in the world. D. It still has untouched landscapes.
23. What does the author suggest for visiting Torres del Paine National Park?
A. Spending several days hiking.
B. Starting your round trip from there.
C. Going there between November and March.
D. Crossing from Chile Chico to get there quickly.
【答案】21. B 22. D 23. A

People exercise, like running or lifting weights, to stay healthy. One special exercise is called planking (平板支撑). To plank, you get down like you are going to lie on your stomach. You rest your weight on your arms and toes (脚趾) to keep your body straight. This exercise works out your abs (腹肌) and legs!
Many people can hold a plank for a minute. But 58-year-old DonnaJean Wilde held her plank for 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds! She set the women’s world record for the longest plank time!
Wilde has always been active. But about 10 years ago, Wilde broke her wrist (手腕). She couldn’t exercise the way she was used to. She started planking. “I realized that I could read when I was planking, and I fell in love with it,” Wilde said.
Wilde first had pain in her hands and arms, but that didn’t stop her. To prepare for the record, she practiced for up to six hours a day. She would even watch movies while planking!
On the big day, Wilde planked at the high school where she used to work. Her family and students came to cheer her on! A worker from Guinness World Records kept an eye on her performance the whole time.
Wilde said the first two hours went by quickly. The next two hours were harder, however. “The last hour was the most challenging,” she said. In the final 30 minutes, Wilde just focused on breathing and stayed calm. When she broke the record, everyone shouted and cheered. Wilde planked about 10 minutes longer than the old record! “I actually can’t believe it. It feels like a dream,” Wilde said.
Wilde had advice for people. “Whatever you like, the better you get at it, the easier it becomes,” she said.
So, keep working on your goals, and one day you may break a world record too!

C. She wanted to exercise her arms and legs.
D. She got hurt and needed a new way to exercise.
26. How did DonnaJean Wilde spend the most challenging time on the big day?
A. By watching movies. B. By counting down numbers.
C. By staying calm and focused. D. By talking to her family and students.
27. What lesson can we learn from DonnaJean Wilde’s story?
A. Better late than never. B. Practice makes perfect.
C. Look before you leap. D. It’s easier said than done.

Language is a living thing, and so is the dictionary. There won’t be a day when we mark it “complete” after adding the last word. Recently, popular online words “noob” and “tangping” are among thousands of new words being added to the Cambridge Dictionary.
Choosing words for the dictionary is not an easy job. It is the work of lexicographers (词典编纂者), who do more than just add and explain words. They update old definitions and also write new ones for words that have developed new meanings. To find new words entering the language, lexicographers read widely, looking at major publications and checking what people are searching for online.
“When a word moves out of quotation marks (引号), that’s another sign that enough people know what this is. It has a definition that people recognize, and we want to put it in the dictionary,” Wendalyn Nichols from Cambridge Dictionary told The New York Times. This means lexicographers look at whether a word is widely used and has a meaning that most people agree on. They must also decide whether the word is likely to stay in use for a long time.
Though words like “noob” and “tangping” are now part of daily conversation, some people may see them as negative. The word “noob”, for example, describes a person who is new to and unskilled at a particular activity, especially a game. It is often used in a mocking way. “Tangping”, which literally means “lying flat,” describes the attitude of rejecting societal pressure and ambition. “As lexicographers, our job is to observe and record, and it is not to pass judgment on the terms,” said Nichols. She added that negative words are marked in the dictionary so learners can find them and know to be careful.
In the past, a new word had to be used for two or three years before being added to a print dictionary. But the internet age has changed this. Now, new words can move from social media to daily talk much more quickly. Their place in the dictionary shows how the internet influences wider culture and language, according to The New York Times.
28. What do lexicographers mainly do to find new words?
A. Read bestsellers and their book reviews.
B. Record daily conversations in public places.
C. Review major publications and online searches.
D. Collect words from trending social media posts.
29. According to Nichols, what does it suggest when a word moves out of quotation marks?
A. It is widely recognized. B. It is no longer important.
C. It will stay in use for a long time. D. It needs its definition to be updated.
30. How has the internet changed dictionary updates?
A. By speeding up the addition of new words.
B. By making lexicographers focus more online.
C. By increasing the standard for word selection.
D. By letting the work of lexicographers be easier.
31. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How new words like “noob” are created.
B. How lexicographers do their difficult job.
C. How the internet harms modern language.
D. How dictionaries adapt to a changing language.
【答案】28. C 29. A 30. A 31. D
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了词典随语言发展而更新的特点,包括新词筛选标准、词典编纂者的工作及互联网对词典更新的影响。
【28题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“To find new words entering the language, lexicographers read widely, looking at major publications and checking what people are searching for online. (为了找到进入英语的新词,词典编纂者广泛阅读,查看主要出版物,并检查人们在网上搜索什么。)”可知,词典编纂者主要通过查阅主要出版物和网络搜索来寻找新词。故选C项。
【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中Wendalyn Nichols所说的话“When a word moves out of quotation marks (引号), that’s another sign that enough people know what this is. It has a definition that people recognize, and we want to put it in the dictionary (当一个单词脱离引号时,这是另一个迹象,表明有足够多的人知道这是什么。它有一个人们认可的定义,我们想把它放进词典里)”可知,Nichols认为一个单词脱离引号意味着它被广泛认可。故选A项。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“In the past, a new word had to be used for two or three years before being added to a print dictionary. But the internet age has changed this. Now, new words can move from social media to daily talk much more quickly. (在过去,一个新词必须使用两三年才能被收入印刷词典。但互联网时代改变了这一点。现在,新单词可以更快地从社交媒体转移到日常会话中。)”可知,互联网加速了新词被收录进词典的速度。故选A项。
【31题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“Language is a living thing, and so is the dictionary. There won’t be a day when we mark it “complete” after adding the last word. (语言是有生命的东西,词典也是。不会有那么一天——我们在添加最后一个单词后标记为“完成”。)”可知,文章围绕词典的动态更新展开,介绍了新词的筛选标准、词典编纂者的工作原则以及互联网对词典更新速度的影响。因此,文章聚焦的是词典如何适应不断变化的语言。故选D项。
D
Landslides of ash, gas and rock that flow out downhill during volcanic eruptions may be even more dangerous than scientists had realized.
Laboratory and field measurements show pulses of high pressure form within these slides, known as pyroclastic (火山碎屑的) flows. Those pressures can be far stronger, and more destructive, than disaster evaluations typically assume. “It’s not a small difference,” says Cert Lube, a volcanologist at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Conventional disaster evaluations might suggest a certain flow will only burst windows, but he says, “When actually, the pressures are so strong, they knock down the walls of the building.”
Pyroclastic flows are the deadliest volcanic disaster, in part because of the pressures they cause. Due to their violent nature, researchers often have to evaluate average pressures in the flows using computer simulations (模拟) based on measurements of geologic deposits left by past flows.
At Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, researchers freed mixtures of hot rock, ash and gas down a channel to copy volcanic landslides known as pyroclastic flows. These pyroclastic flows have an inner rhythm (节奏) that makes them especially destructive. To directly study the inner workings of these forces of nature, Lube and colleagues reproduced smaller versions of the flows in experiments, measuring the destructive power. That let the team calculate the pressures inside the flows. The researchers also analyzed the first measurements of pressures in natural flows, collected in 2019, when pyroclastic flows burst from the Whakaari volcano and swallowed a set of sensors.
To the researchers’ surprise, pressures in the flows shook rhythmically. These pressure pulses would successively damage barriers like blows from an electric drill, Lube says. The pulses sometimes smashed more than three times as hard as the average pressure evaluates typically suggested by conventional simulations.
32. Why do researchers use computers to simulate pyroclastic flows?
A. To find out their inner rhythm. B. To evaluate their violent nature.
C. To figure out their average pressures. D. To copy the scene of volcanic landslides.
33. What does the fourth paragraph focus on?
A. How to prepare simulation experiment.
B. How to carry out the simulation experiment.
C. Why to conduct the simulation experiment.
D. Why to measure the inner rhythm of pyroclastic flows.
34. What does the underlined word “smashed” in Paragraph 5 mean?
A. Crashed. B. Bombed. C. Conflicted. D. Increased.
35. What’s the most suitable title for the text?
A. A Well-known Landslide B. The Deadliest Volcanic Disaster
C. More Destructive Pyroclastic Flows D. A Pyroclastic Flows Simulation Experiment
【答案】32. C 33. B 34. A 35. C
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章说明了火山碎屑流的实际破坏性可能比科学家以前认为的更严重,并且通过模拟实验证明了这一点。
【32题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Due to their violent nature, researchers often have to evaluate average pressures in the flows using computer simulations (模拟) based on measurements of geologic deposits left by past flows.(由于其剧烈的性质,研究人员经常不得不使用计算机模拟来评估流体中的平均压力,该模拟是基于过去流体留下的地质沉积物的测量结果)”可知,研究人员要用计算机来模拟火山碎屑流是为了计算他们的平均压力。故选C。
【33题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第四段“At Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, researchers freed mixtures of hot rock, ash and gas down a channel to copy volcanic landslides known as pyroclastic flows. These pyroclastic flows have an inner rhythm (节奏) that makes them especially destructive. To directly study the inner workings of these forces of nature, Lube and colleagues reproduced smaller versions of the flows in experiments, measuring the destructive power. The researchers also analyzed the first measurements of pressures in natural flows, collected in 2019, when pyroclastic flows burst from the Whakaari volcano and swallowed a set of sensors.(在新西兰北帕默斯顿的梅西大学,研究人员将热岩石、火山灰和气体的混合物释放到一条通道中,复制火山滑坡,即火山碎屑流。
根据第五段中“These pressure pulses would successively damage barriers like blows from an electric drill, Lube says. (Lube说,这些压力脉冲会像电钻的冲击一样依次破坏屏障)”可知,这些压力脉冲会像电钻一样不断地破坏障碍物,故画线词所在句表示脉冲有时碰撞的压力是常规模拟中估计的平均压力的三倍以上。故画线词意思是“撞击、毁坏”。故选A。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段中“Laboratory and field measurements show pulses of high pressure form within these slides, known as pyroclastic (火山碎屑的) flows. Those pressures can be far stronger, and more destructive, than disaster evaluations typically assume.(实验室和现场测量显示,这些滑梯中形成了高压脉冲,称为火山碎屑流。这些压力可能比灾难评估通常认为的更强,更具破坏性)”结合文章说明了火山碎屑流的实际破坏性可能比科学家以前认为的更严重,并且通过模拟实验证明了这一点。可知,C选项“更具破坏性的火山碎屑流”最符合文章标题。故选C。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Today, teens live in a world full of social activities and online connections. But behind their seemingly busy social lives, many are fighting a hidden battle: social anxiety. ____36____ This figure has jumped by 15% compared with that of 10 years ago, drawing great attention from psychologists and teachers.
To fully grasp how serious the problem is, we first need to recognize its typical signs. Teens with social anxiety often feel extremely nervous when talking to peers, joining group activities or speaking in class. ____37____ For example, they may skip lunch with classmates to avoid casual chats or turn down invitations to after-school clubs. These actions can hurt their mood and stop them from building close friendships.
____38____ Among all the factors, the pressure from social media stands out as the biggest one. On various platforms, teens are constantly exposed to others’ “perfect” posts: top grades, exciting parties or warm family moments. They can’t help comparing their ordinary lives with these idealized images, which brings them great mental pressure.
Social anxiety does great harm to teens in multiple aspects. They may give up activities they love, which limits their social growth. Worse still, they may develop low self-esteem over time. ____39____ This will gradually make it harder for them to follow teachers’ lectures and finally damage their academic performance.
Luckily, there are practical ways to help teens deal with social anxiety. ____40____ For teens themselves, they can also take tiny steps to build confidence, such as having a short chat with someone or attending one club meeting. With proper care and guidance, teens can learn to manage social anxiety and become more confident in social situations.
A. We need to explore the causes of this problem.

【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了青少年社交焦虑的现状、普遍性、成因、具体表现以及应对方法。
【36题详解】
由上文“But behind their seemingly busy social lives, many are fighting a hidden battle: social anxiety.(但在他们看似忙碌的社交生活背后,许多人正经历着一场隐秘的斗争:社交焦虑)”以及下文“This figure has jumped by 15% compared with that of 10 years ago, drawing great attention from psychologists and teachers.(这一数据相比十年前上升了15%,引起了心理学家和教师的高度关注)”可知,本空要引出具体数据来佐证社交焦虑的情况,F选项“Nearly 30% of teens have severe social anxiety, a survey shows. (一项调查显示,近30%的青少年患有严重的社交焦虑)”能承上启下,符合题意,该选项中的“30% of teens”是下文“this figure”指代的内容,且该选项中的“severe social anxiety”与上文的“social anxiety”相呼应。故选F。
【37题详解】
空格前第1段中“behind their seemingly busy social lives, many are fighting a hidden battle: social anxiety(在他们看似忙碌的社交生活背后,许多人都在与一场隐藏的战斗作斗争:社交焦虑)”已经点明青少年表面忙碌社交、实则暗藏社交焦虑的现状,且通过F选项给出了具体患病比例;空格后则转入对社交焦虑典型表现的举例“For example, they may skip lunch with classmates to avoid casual chats or turn down invitations to after-school clubs.(例如,他们可能会不与同学共进午餐,以避免随意聊天,或者拒绝参加课后俱乐部的邀请)”。选项B“Social anxiety is more common than most adults think.(社交焦虑比多数成年人想象的更为普遍)”起到了承上启下的过渡作用,既承接了前文的数据,强化了“社交焦虑并非个别现象”的认知,又自然引出下文对其具体表现的详细说明,让论述从“数据现状”平稳过渡到“实际症状”。故选B。
【38题详解】
由下文“Among all the factors, the pressure from social media stands out as the biggest one.(在所有因素中,来自社交媒体的压力是最主要的一个)”可知,本空要引出对社交焦虑成因的探讨,A选项“We need to explore the causes of this problem.(我们需要探究这个问题的成因)”能承上启下,符合题意。下文的“factors”指该选项中的“causes of this problem”,开启了本段关于社交焦虑诱因的说明。故选A。
【39题详解】
由上文“Social anxiety does great harm to teens in multiple aspects. They may give up activities they love, which limits their social growth. Worse still, they may develop low self-esteem over time.(社交焦虑在多个方面对青少年造成极大伤害。他们可能会放弃自己喜欢的活动,这限制了他们的社交成长。更糟糕的是,久而久之他们可能会产生自卑心理)”以及下文“This will gradually make it harder for them to follow teachers’ lectures and finally damage their academic performance.(这会逐渐让他们难以跟上老师的讲课进度,最终影响学业表现)”可知,本空要列举社交焦虑带来的具体危害行为,E选项“Some even avoid asking questions in class to stay ‘invisible’. (有些人甚至为了保持‘隐形’而避免在课堂上提问)”能承上启下,符合题意,该选项中的“avoid asking questions in class”是社交焦虑引发的具体行为,且该行为与下文的难以跟上讲课进度、影响学业存在因果关联。故选E。
【40题详解】
由上文“Luckily, there are practical ways to help teens deal with social anxiety.(幸运的是,有一些切实可行的方法可以帮助青少年应对社交焦虑)”以及下文“For teens themselves, they can also take tiny steps to build confidence(对于青少年自己来说,他们也可以通过一些小步骤来建立自信)”可知,本空要提出青少年之外的群体可以采取的帮助方法,G选项“Parents and teachers can create a supportive environment for them.(家长和老师可以为他们创造一个支持性的环境)”能承上启下,符合题意,该选项中的“Parents and teachers”与下文的“teens themselves”构成应对社交焦虑的不同主体,且共同属于帮助青少年的可行方法。故选G。

Dear Lily,
I’m sorry to learn that you are upset about being overweight recently. Here’re some tips for you.
In my opinion, you should stop taking weight-loss pills in no time because they’ll attack the function of your immune system within your body. Many sorts of ways to keep fit can be satisfying. 第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible.
“Why are you in such a hurry, early bird?” Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum,” Peter said. “Mr. White promised prizes for those who get score 100. I’ve been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well-prepared for the test.”
Peter carefully checked the spelling of each word when Dad drove him to school. At last, it was time for the test. “Responsibility,” Mr. White started. Peter wrote the word on his test paper quickly and confidently.
“The second word: contribution,” Mr. White said.
“So easy,” Peter thought. He quickly wrote the word down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I am going to mark your papers now,” he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, “Three of you won a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter, David and Mary got 100 percent in the spelling test,”
Mr. White praised them. He gave each of the three students a dictionary. Peter’s was an English-Chinese dictionary — the one he liked most. Peter was so excited that he held it high as his classmates cheered. “This is making me so happy,” Peter thought.
After Mr. White had given the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribution” confused him. It didn’t seem right. Peter compared it to the word list. “C-o-n-t-r-i-b-u-s-i-o-n,” he whispered. He had spelt it wrong.
“What should I do?” Peter said to himself. “I want my classmates to think I’m a master of spelling. If I tell Mr. White I got one wrong, I’ll have to give my prize back or I will tell a lie.”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请安如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Staring at the “100%” mark written on his test paper, Peter was lost in thought.

Slowly, Peter raised his hand.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1:
Staring at the “100%” mark written on his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. He knew that he had made a mistake, but admitting it meant admitting his failure in front of his classmates. Should he keep the prize and pretend nothing had happened? Or should he tell the truth and face the consequences? The thought of being called a liar by his classmates was too much for him to bear. Peter’s mind was in a tug-of-war, and he didn’t know what to do.
Paragraph 2:
Slowly, Peter raised his hand. “Mr. White, I didn’t get 100 percent on the test. I missed a word.” He stood up and handed his teacher the dictionary he liked best and his test paper. “I spelled contribution with ‘s-i’ instead of ‘t-i’. Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk. Mr. White held up Peter’s test paper. “Class,” he said, “Peter did something even more important than spelling every word correctly on a test.” Mr. White smiled at Peter. “He taught us all a lesson on being honest.”

24. In which activity did DonnaJean Wilde set a record?
A. Planking. B. Weightlifting. C. Running. D. Sit-ups.
25. Why did DonnaJean Wilde start planking?
A. She wanted to lose weight.
B. She loved reading while exercising.

28 What do lexicographers mainly do to find new words?

____38____ Among all the factors the pressure from social media stands out as the biggest one.
B. Social anxiety is more common than most adults think.
C. They doubt if they’re “good enough” like others online.
D. Some teens also have conflicts with family due to anxiety.
E. Some even avoid asking questions in class to stay “invisible”.
F. Nearly 30% of teens have severe social anxiety, a survey shows.
G. Parents and teachers can create a supportive environment for them.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请安如下格式在答题卡相应位置作答。
