Climate is greatly different across the globe, with clear features shaping different regions. Here are four main types:
Temperate Climate
Temperate climates lie in temperate latitudes (纬度) (40° — 45° north and south of the equator to polar circles). Northern hemisphere (半球) temperate zones are mostly land, while 98% of the southern hemisphere’s is ocean. They have four clear seasons (winter, spring, autumn, summer) and frequent weather changes because of storms. Average temperatures are below 0℃ in the coldest month and above +15℃ in the warmest. Snow covers the ground in winter, with rainfall and snowfall ranging from 100 mm inland to 1,000 mm on coasts.
Equatorial Climate
An equatorial climate is marked by hot and wet air. Air temperature remains stable (稳定的) (+24℃ — +28℃) and rainfall is rich throughout the year (1,500 to 5,000 mm). Rain falls faster than evaporation (蒸发), leaving soil full of water and supporting dense rainforests. It is found in northern South America, the Gulf of Guinea coast, the Congo River basin, parts of Indonesia, and near ocean areas.
Tropical Climate
A tropical climate is ruled by high-pressure anticyclones, a weather system built around high air pressure, bringing clear weather most of the year. It has two seasons: warm and cold. Temperatures change from +20℃ on the coast to +50℃ inland, with large daily variations — reaching +40℃ — +45℃ in summer afternoons and dropping to +10℃ — +15℃ at night. Deserts, deciduous forests, and savannas, a wet and dry season, are common. Regions include Mexico, North and South Africa, Central Australia, and the Arabian Peninsula.
Polar Climate
A polar climate is found north of 70° latitude (Arctic) and south of 65° latitude (Antarctic). Polar air masses dominate year-round, with polar nights (months without sunlight) and polar days (months with non-setting sun). Snow and ice reflect heat, keeping air very cold — summer averages below 0℃ and winter between -20℃ and -40℃. High air pressure brings weak winds and few clouds, with little snowfall.
21. Which one has four clear seasons?
A. The equatorial climate. B. The temperate climate.
C. The polar climate. D. The tropical climate.
22. What is a key difference between equatorial and tropical climates?
A. Tropical climates have more rainfall than equatorial climates.
B. Tropical climates support rainforests while equatorial climates have deserts.
C. Equatorial temperatures are stable while tropical ones change daily and seasonally.
D. Equatorial climates are found only on land while tropical climates are in ocean areas.
23. Where is the text most likely taken from?
A. A scientific report on climate change. B. A novel about adventure in rainforests.
C A travel blog introducing tourist attractions. D. A geography textbook for high school students.
【答案】21. B 22. C 23. D

While Bali sees rain for months, water shortages are already influencing the culture of Bali, Indonesia and people’s life quality. The five-month rainy season doesn’t stop millions from visiting the island in a typical year and more tourists take a dramatic toll on the island’s natural water resources (资源). But that’s not the only concern. Experts warn the situation will worsen if water control practices aren’t properly carried out. For those who live here, the seasonal flood serves as a reminder of an ongoing water crisis.
In fact, one local school has made the stuff of life the focus of its course. Leslie Medema, Head of Green School Bali, said, “We chose water as a theme (主题) for last year and this year, because there’s a water shortage in Bali.”
Green School Bali was built to create the next generation of problem solvers. Now on campus, there are 50 student-led projects that have been carried out. Built from bamboo and other sustainable (可持续的) material, the impressive open-air equipment was designed to encourage imagination and creativity. Each structure fits in with what the school’s founders call a living course. The point is to make them feel they have the skills and the ability to actively change the world.
Green School Bali opened in 2008, and has become a big success. Now it includes locations in New Zealand, South Africa and Mexico. Medema added, “Our goal is a community of learners making our world sustainable.” And when everyone puts community back at the center of a school, they end up being more responsible for the actions that they take.
24. What does the underlined phrase “take a dramatic toll on” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Have a bad effect on. B. Play an important role in.
C. Take full advantage of. D. Show great care about.
25. Why did Green School Bali choose water as its theme?
A. Because students showed great interest in water problems.
B. Because water topics are easier for project-based learning.
C. Because Bali faces water shortages though having heavy rainfall.
D. Because the school received government support for water research.
26. What is the main purpose of the school’s living course?
A. To prepare students for school exams.
B. To stress the importance of hands-on projects.
C. To offer students a chance to show their creativity.
D. To help students use their skills to solve real-world challenges.
27. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. The school’s educational model is popular in some other countries.
B. The development of a school needs the community’s support.
C. School education is the key to making the world sustainable.
D. Water problems are serious around the world.
【答案】24. A 25. C 26. D 27. A

In recent years, more and more people have cut down on meat for health and environmental reasons. Restaurants have added more vegetarian (素食) choices, and many people have started plant-based eating. However, a surprising new dietary trend (趋势) is now becoming popular across social media platforms — the carnivore diet. This extreme way of eating means having only animal products, including meat, seafood, eggs, and dairy products like butter. Followers completely avoid all plant-based foods, including vegetables, fruit and grains. Some supporters even say that plants have bad things and should be totally taken out of our diets.
Supporters of the carnivore diet share many advantages online. They report improved mental health, better skin condition, and successful weight loss. Some influencers post pictures of their meals with large steaks and various eggs, describing how this way of dieting has changed their lives. The diet works like other low-carbohydrate (低碳水) diets such as the ketogenic diet, forcing the body to burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates.
However, health experts are very worried about this trend. Major health organizations, including the British Heart Foundation, have warned that diets high in fat and low in fiber can increase cholesterol levels and raise the risk of heart disease. Avoiding all plant foods means missing necessary nutrients (营养物) and dietary fiber, which are important for digestive health and immune function. What's more worrying is that some parents are putting their kids on this strict diet.
Nutritionists point out that most people already eat enough protein and suggest balanced eating habits like the Mediterranean diet, which includes all kinds of plant and animal foods. While the carnivore diet may get a lot of attention on social media, experts agree that balanced nutrition remains the healthiest choice for long-term well-being.
28. How does the author present the matter in paragraph 1?
A. By explaining reasons. B. By following the time order.
C. By making comparisons. D. By sharing his own diet.
29. What does the author say about the carnivore diet?
A It allows people to eat less low-sugar fruit.
B. It mainly depends on seafood and dairy for main nutrients.
C. It stresses the importance of balancing meat and vegetables.
D. It requires followers to avoid all plant-based foods in their meals.
30. Why are experts specially worried about children following the carnivore diet?
A. Children need more protein than adults for growth.
B. The diet is too expensive for most families to afford.
C. Children are more easily influenced by social media trends.
D. The diet may not include necessary nutrients for proper development.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. The Advantages and Risks of the Carnivore Diet
B. How to Lose Weight by the Carnivore Diet
C. The Influence of Social Media Trends
D. Why Vegetarian Diets Are Better
【答案】28. C 29. D 30. D 31. A

What if the food waste we throw away could help power an airplane? This idea might sound strange, but researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have made it a reality on a small scale(规模). They developed a method to turn food waste into jet fuel (喷气式飞机燃料).
In their study, published in Nature Communications, the team describes a process that turns food waste first into bio-fuel, which is then upgraded into jet fuel. This fuel can be used directly in planes without any change. Tests showed it met all industry standards for traditional jet fuel.
While this is still an early idea, this method offers a promising way to cut down plane emissions (排放物). “We take waste and recover energy to create a useful product. This closes a loop (闭环) in the circular economy,” said Professor Yuanhui Zhang, the study’s lead author.
Aviation (航空) is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. While battery-powered (电池驱动的) cars are becoming more common, battery-powered planes are still impractical for long flights because of low energy effectiveness. Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) made from organic materials could cut emissions by up to 80%. However, producing SAF that meets strict aviation standards is challenging.
The researchers used a method called hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL), which acts like a “pressure cooker” to quickly turn food waste into oil. After several rounds of processing, the oil became a clean jet fuel ready for use.
Although scaling up will need a lot of money to build new factories and develop technology, this research marks an important step toward greener air travel. It pictures a future where planes are powered not by fossil fuels, but by SAF made from what we once threw away, changing how we produce energy and help protect our planet.
32. What is one advantage of the new jet fuel according to the research?
A. It makes batteries for airplanes unnecessary.
B. It completely solves the problem of food waste.
C. It can be used in planes without making a change.
D. It is much cheaper to produce than traditional fuel.
33. What does Professor Yuanhui Zhang consider as the key to achieving a closed loop?
A. Teaching people to produce little waste.
B. Turning waste into a useful product.
C. Cutting down emissions from airplanes greatly.
D. Developing a new idea for the aviation industry.
34. Why does the author mention battery-powered planes?
A. To stress the common use of battery.
B. To explain the need for other aviation fuels.
C. To prove electric cars are better than planes.
D. To show they are the best way for short flights.
35. What is the author’s attitude towards the research?
A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Uncaring. D. Unclear.
【答案】32. C 33. B 34. B 35. A

【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了自我意识的重要性及其益处,并列举了写日记、练瑜伽、反思、询问亲友等培养和践行自我意识的方法。
【36题详解】
根据后文“For example, it can make your daily life better because it’s a tool and a practice that can be used anywhere. Also, it helps you make good choices. But how do you do it? There are many ways to build and practice self-awareness. Here are some of the most helpful ones.(例如,它能让你的日常生活变得更加美好,因为它是一种可以在任何地方使用的工具和实践方法。此外,它还能帮助你做出正确的选择。但要如何做到呢?有许多方法可以培养和实践自我意识。以下是一些最有效的方法)”可知,空后用“For example”引出两个具体好处,因此空格处需总起“自我认知有诸多益处”。C选项“练习自我意识有很多好处”衔接自然,符合语境。故选C。
【37题详解】
根据上文“The benefit of keeping a diary is that it allows you to recognize, understand, and accept your thoughts and feelings. It is important because it enables you to recognize your interests and concerns.(写日记的好处在于它能让你认识到、理解并接受自己的想法和感受。这一点非常重要,因为它能帮助你认清自己的兴趣所在和关注的重点)”可知,上文提到“日记能帮你识别自己的兴趣和关注点”,G选项“它也能帮你发现不想要的和不适合自己的事”,用“also”呼应上文,且与“识别自己的兴趣和关注点”形成互补,符合下文“Both are important”的指代对象。故选G。
【38题详解】
根据后文“While your body is stretching and moving, the mental part is also — changing your mind is learning focus, self-acceptance, and awareness. You become more aware of your body and all the feelings that appear, and you also understand your thoughts more clearly.(当你的身体在伸展和运动时,你的精神层面也在变化——改变想法就是学习集中注意力、自我接纳以及增强意识。你会更加清楚地意识到自己的身体以及出现的各种感觉,同时也能更清晰地理解自己的想法)”可知,空格后同时提到“身体拉伸”(物理层面)和“专注力、自我接纳、觉察”(心理层面),需概括瑜伽的双重属性。E选项“它是一种身体练习,但同样也是一种心智练习”精准对应下文的身心两方面描述,直接点明瑜伽的核心特点。故选E。
【39题详解】
根据上文“Reflecting can be done in many ways and is personalized to the person reflecting.(反思的方式有很多种,并且会根据反思者个人的特点而有所不同)”以及后文“By doing this, you can see where you met your standards, where you failed, and where you could improve. You can try writing in a journal, talking out loud, or simply sitting quietly and thinking.(通过这样做,你就能清楚地看到自己达到了哪些标准,哪些方面做得不够好,以及哪些方面还有待改进。你可以尝试写日记、大声说出来,或者只是静静地坐着思考)”可知,上文说“反思方式多样,可自定义”,下文讲“通过反思能看到达标、未达标和需改进的地方”,空格需衔接“方式灵活”与“反思核心”。F选项“但重要的是回顾你的想法、感受和行为”,用“But”强调核心动作,既不否定上文的“方式多样”,又引出下文反思的具体作用,逻辑连贯。故选F。
【40题详解】
根据后文“It’s important to know yourself from the inside, but it also helps to know what others think. Have your family and close friends describe you and see which parts you agree with and which parts surprise you. Carefully consider what they say and think about it. Of course, don’t take any person’s word as truth; you need to talk to several people to get a fuller picture of yourself.(了解自己的内心是很重要的,但了解他人的看法也会有所帮助。让家人和亲密朋友描述你,看看哪些是你认同的,哪些又让你感到惊讶。仔细思考他们所说的话,并加以思考。当然,不要将任何一个人的话当作真理;你需要与几个人交流,以获得对自己更全面的认识)”可知,下文围绕“让家人和亲密朋友描述你”展开。A选项“向他人询问关于你的情况”不仅与“家人和亲密朋友”呼应,且契合小标题的形式,符合语境。故选A。

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One evening, after a heated argument (争论) with my father, I could no longer stand the heavy atmosphere at home. I rushed out angrily, jumped on my bike, and rode fast into the darkening night, trying to escape his unkind words ringing in my mind.
The wind blew hard against my face, but it failed to cool my anger. As I sped around a corner, my front wheel hit a loose stone. Suddenly, I lost control and was thrown onto the rough road with my bike falling beside me with a loud clatter. A serious pain rushed through my leg, leaving me lying there, helpless and unable to move.
Just then, a kind-looking man hurried over. “Are you okay?” he asked, offering his hand. I took it, and he helped me up before wheeling my bike aside. As I dusted myself off, the cut on my knee started to hurt even more. “Thank you, sir,” I said.
His simple kindness suddenly brought back a clear and strong memory: my father, younger then, running tirelessly beside my shaky bike, his strong hands holding the seat to keep me balanced. “Don’t give up! You can do it!” he encouraged me. He had run beside me like that for countless afternoons until I finally learned to ride on my own.
The difference hit me deeply. Here I was, moved by a stranger for one small act of help, but I had never thanked my father for all the miles he ran supporting me, for all the times he had picked me up. Full of regret and shame, I stood up straight, wiped my eyes, and turned my bike toward home.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
My heart was racing as I pushed open the front door.

As Dad cleaned my broken leg, I spoke the words stuck in my throat nervously.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
My heart was racing as I pushed open the front door. My father was sitting on the sofa in the living room, but he jumped to his feet when he saw me limping. His eyes were fixed on my bleeding leg, and the strict look on his face melted into concern right away. “What happened?” he asked, his voice filled with real worry instead of the anger I had imagined. Before I could answer, he rushed to get the first-aid kit, his earlier anger completely forgotten in his hurry to take care of me.
As Dad cleaned my broken leg, I spoke the words stuck in my throat nervously. “Dad, I’m really sorry,” I began, my voice trembling. “When that stranger helped me up tonight, it made me remember all those times you taught me to ride the bike.” His hands paused for just a second before continuing their gentle work. “I’m just glad you’re safe,” he said quietly. That simple response made me realize that Dad’s love had always been there, patient and forgiving, even when I didn’t notice it.

C. A travel blog introducing tourist attractions. D. A geography textbook for high school students.

In fact one local school has made the stuff of life the focus of its course.

A. It allows people to eat less low-sugar fruit.
D
A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Uncaring. D. Unclear.
