There are many sounds in the environment, from rustling leaves (20 dB) to a normal conversation (60 dB), from a screaming baby (80 dB) to a lawnmower (除草机) (100 dB). Sounds that reach 85 dB or higher can harm a person’s ears. Permissible Exposure Time How long can a person be exposed to a certain sound before risking hearing damage? According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, for every 3 dB sound pressure level over 85 dB, the permissible exposure time is cut in half — before damage to our hearing can occur. Sound Pressure Level Permissible Exposure Time 85 dB 8 hours 88 dB 4 hours 91 dB 2 hours Four Commonest Types of Noise Pollution ·Road vehicles are the major source of noise pollution. This is more concentrated in urban areas where there is a much higher number of vehicles. ·Fireworks, used generally for celebrations, are beautiful. However, they can be very loud, and scary! There is no real way of dealing with it, as fireworks are used so briefly. ·Construction work causes loud and disturbing noises which can make it hard to concentrate. Most countries have laws in place preventing construction work from taking place between certain times. ·Animals also cause noise pollution. For example, if you live on a road where somebody keeps his dog outside for hours on end while it barks constantly, that’s really annoying. Obviously, noise pollution is a widespread issue. But the consequences of this pollution are often underestimated. According to WHO estimates, at least 1 million healthy life-years are lost annually from traffic-related environmental noise alone in western Europe. It is time that the effects of noise pollution on public health should receive more attention. 21. What is the permissible exposure time for someone in a 94 dB environment? A. 8 hours. B. 4 hours. C. 2 hours. D. 1 hour. 22. What is the main source of noise pollution? A. Road vehicles. B. Fireworks. C. Construction work. D. Animals. 23. What’s the purpose of the text? A. To explain how to measure sounds. B. To clarify the meaning of decibels. C. To stress different types of noise pollution. D. To draw people’s attention to noise pollution. B When I arrived at the Sign Language Center for my first American Sign Language. (ASL) class, a man noticed my hesitant expression and held up some fingers. One? Two? I put up one finger, and he directed me to the Level 1 class. I felt lost because class time was strictly “voices off” to show respect for the deaf teachers. Without the power of speech, all my classmates and I could do was smile and nod at one another as we took in the new vocabulary. Learning ASL in the early weeks was a culture shock. As a writer, I pride myself on a certain facility for languages. I was taught that there’s a perfect combination of words that can most precisely (精确地) communicate any thought. With ASL, I expected to feel similarly, and thought fluency would come once I collected a mass of signs. As my classmates and I asked and answered questions using words we didn’t have the signs for, those early weeks were filled with painstaking spelling. It was embarrassing: Seeing a dozen politely smiling faces watching me as I slowly spelled, misspelled and restarted spelling words — often multiple times — was a kind of torture. As time went by, I made some progress, but I still struggled to differentiate very similar looking signs. Eventually I realized that when you’re communicating in sign language, diction (措辞) is not as important as the way you show what you’re communicating. I once asked a teacher how to sign the word “desperate (绝望的)”. “ASL doesn’t have a direct translation of every English word,” he told me. “If you want to sign ‘desperate’, you might just sign the word “want’, but with the appropriate facial and body language to show your desperation.” My initial reason for attending ASL classes was insignificant; a childhood fascination with “secret languages”. While ASL may not wholly share a vocabulary with English, that doesn’t mean it lacks precision. Its precision, I’ve learned, lies in the common language of the body. 24. What was the rule of the ASL class mentioned in the text? A. Spelling was not allowed. B. Voices must be kept off. C. Lessons were given in English. D. Only Level 1 students were accepted. 25. What does the underlined word “torture” in paragraph 2 mean? A. A great pleasure. B. A useful practice. C. A painful experience. D. A funny moment. 26. What did the author realize about ASL? A. It needs appropriate facial gestures. B. It shares most vocabulary with English. C. Similar-looking signs are easy to tell apart. D. Diction is more important than body language. 27. Why did the author start learning ASL at first? A. Her job as a writer required it. B. She needed to do research about it. C. She was attracted to “secret languages” D. She wanted to communicate with the deaf. C The modern world is full of things: electronics, cooking devices, furniture, clothing, and more. Those things eventually add up. The average French individual owns 2.5 tons of objects, and nearly a third of those things never get used. This fact was the motivation for French entrepreneur (企业家) Luci Basch to co-found a new app called Poppins. The app makes it possible for people to rent or borrow items from other people in their area. Want to make ice cream but don’t own an ice cream maker? Get on Poppins and rent one from your neighbor. Poppins attracted more than 40,000 users in the first weeks alone and is continually growing. It has seen rapid growth in urban areas where the space of each family is limited so renting is preferred to owning. The rental prices are set by the owners and the app includes features such as in-app payments, optional insurance (just in case the item being lent or rented out is very valuable), and user verification (验证). This makes for a very smooth and trustworthy user experience. So far, the number one item that has been borrowed or rented is the cooking machine, but people also look for things such as baby items, tents, and outdoor equipment. And why not? Renting a tent for a once-a-year camping trip via Poppins is vastly cheaper than owning one. Besides, the tent is returned once it’s been used. But the more important element of Poppins is the fact that it reduces people’s desire to buy new things and turns it into a sharing, social, circular economy. Basch said, “The beauty of sharing is that it combines ecological (生态的), economic and social drivers. If we make sharing normal, less is produced, and we will spend less because it’s cheaper to rent. We will be more social as we are talking to each other again.” 28. How does the author develop paragraph 1? A. By comparing different people. B. By listing problems and examples. C. By presenting a phenomenon and data. D. By introducing a general direction and its causes. 29. What inspired Luci Basch to co-found Poppins? A. The fact that many French people own unused items. B. The widespread use of similar apps in urban areas. C. The need to reduce the production of new items. D. The high demand for rental services in France. 30. What does the author want to show about the app in paragraph 3? A. Why it asks owners to set prices. B. How it ensures reliable rental. C. Why it features in-app payments. D. How it helps owners earn more. 31. What is the main value of Poppins according to the text? A. It helps people become more friendly. B. It reduces the production of new items. C. It makes it easier to buy second-hand items. D. It promotes a sharing economy with many benefits. D In an era characterized by burnout, a therapeutic (有疗效的) alternative is hanging on a gallery wall. When volunteers at London’s Courtauld Gallery stood before Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Manet’s A Bar at the Folies-Bergère, their stress levels dropped compared with those of volunteers viewing reproductions. Science suggests that original art is a medicine that one can view rather than swallow (吞咽). That art can lift spirits is well known. But that it calms the body is novel. There’s growing evidence to support that opinion. Earlier this summer, a team of Cambridge psychologists conducted a similar project at Kettle’s Yard Gallery to show how appreciating artistic beauty helps us escape the “mental traps of daily life”. These experiments followed the research published last year to quantify the improvements to physical and mental health from taking part in creative activities, as well as the economic gain — estimated to be an average of £1,000 per person a year, as a result of improved work productivity and fewer trips to the hospital. “When you experience an artwork, you don’t just see it, but you feel it,” the art historian Katy Hessel wrote in her new book How to Live an Artful Life. “The best thing we can do is take time with it.” Time, of course, is what we are lacking in today’s world, but this seems to be key to art’s therapeutic powers. Galleries are quiet places, where we start really looking, deeply engaging with a work of art. As novelist Iris Murdoch wrote, “Great art is freeing people’s mind. It enables us to see and take pleasure in what is not ourselves.” We are often advised to exercise and eat healthily. Will doctors soon be prescribing (开处方) a visit to a local gallery or museum? After all, a “cultural workout for the body” is vital not only to the nation’s economy, but to its health. 32. What does the experiment at London’s Courtauld Gallery show? A. Art reproductions reduce stress effectively. B. Original artworks have a therapeutic effect. C. Van Gogh’s work is more popular than Manet’s. D. Viewing artworks is better for health than medicine. 33. Which of the following supports the idea that art brings economic benefits? A. Attracting more tourists to galleries. B. Improving work productivity. C. Giving physical relaxation. D. Offering new jobs. 34. What is key to art’s therapeutic powers according to Katy Hessel? A. Slowed pace and wholehearted engagement. B. Art knowledge and careful viewing. C. Quiet galleries and long stays. D. Daily escape and few tasks. 35. What’s the best title for the text? A. Galleries: Ideal Places to Keep Fit. B. Katy Hessel’s Book: How to Live an Artful Life. C. Original Art: A Viewable “Medicine” for Health. D. Cultural Workout: Boosting the Nation’s Economy. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 For students, participating in travel programs can be beneficial, offering a range of educational advantages that extend far beyond the classroom. His pencil moved quickly across the paper, drawing the details of the potted sunflowers by the window. Though his uniform was dusted with pencil shavings (削屑), his eyes shone with focus. “That’s Leo,” my classmate whispered. “He’s in Grade 10 and loves drawing more than anything, but his family can’t afford art supplies or classes.” Later, I often saw Leo spending time in the art room during breaks, borrowing basic supplies from the teacher and copying works from art textbooks. One rainy day, we got stuck together and found shared shelter under the school gate. He pulled out his sketchbook and showed me his drawings: vivid portraits (肖像) of classmates, detailed campus scenes, and even imaginative illustrations of stories he’d written. “I want to be an illustrator someday,” he said shyly. “I hope my drawings can make people feel warm. But I don’t know if I’ll ever get to learn proper skills.” I was impressed by his talent and passion — his lines were expressive and full of life, even without formal training. “Your work is amazing,” I said sincerely. “With professional guidance, you could go far. Have you thought about joining the school’s art club or applying for a scholarship?” Leo’s face brightened for a moment, and then fell. “The art club’s application requires handing in a set of works with professional materials, and the scholarship deadline is next month. I don’t have enough good sketchbooks or the right tools to finish them.” My heart ached for this determined boy. A week later, our art teacher announced a school-wide illustration competition with a prize of art supplies and a free summer art workshop. Leo’s eyes lit up when he heard the news, but he soon sighed. “I only have a few old pencils and a torn sketchbook. I can’t create a good entry with these.” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I decided to help Leo realize his dream. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On competition results day, Leo and I waited anxiously in the school hall. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $河北省2024级高二年级大数据应用调研阶段性联合测评。4、英语试题听力部分该部分分为第一第二两节。注意回答听力部分时,请先将答案标在试卷上,听力部分结束前,你将有两分钟的时间将你的答案转涂到答题卡上。现在是听力试音时间。Hello, international friends club. 【答案】21. D 22. A 23. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇应用文。文章介绍了声音的分贝测量标准、有害噪音的暴露时长、四种常见噪音污染类型及其相关情况,强调噪音污染问题普遍且后果常被低估,呼吁公众关注其对健康的影响。 【21题详解】 细节理解题。根据Permissible Exposure Time部分中“According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, for every 3 dB sound pressure level over 85 dB, the permissible exposure time is cut in half — before damage to our hearing can occur.(根据美国国家职业安全与健康研究所的研究,当声压级超过85分贝时,声压级每升高3分贝,人体可承受的安全暴露时长就会减半——只有控制在这个安全时长内,才不会对听力造成损伤)”和表格内容可知,85分贝允许的暴露时间是8小时,88分贝是4小时,91分贝是2小时,那么94分贝就是1小时。故选D。 【22题详解】 细节理解题。根据Four Commonest Types of Noise Pollution部分中“Road vehicles are the major source of noise pollution.(道路车辆是噪音污染的主要来源)”可知,道路车辆是噪音污染的主要来源。故选A。 【23题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“It is time that the effects of noise pollution on public health should receive more attention.(是时候让噪音污染对公众健康产生的影响得到更多关注了)”可知,文章的核心目的是引起人们对噪声污染的关注。故选D。 B When I arrived at the Sign Language Center for my first American Sign Language. 【答案】24. B 25. C 26. A 27. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者参加美国手语 (ASL) 课程的经历。 【24题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中的句子“I felt lost because class time was strictly “voices off” to show respect for the deaf teachers.(我感到很迷茫,因为为了表示对听障老师的尊重,上课时间严格禁止说话。)”可知,手语课的规则是上课期间禁止说话,故选B项。 【25题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线单词上文的句子“It was embarrassing: Seeing a dozen politely smiling faces watching me as I slowly spelled, misspelled and restarted spelling words — often multiple times(那场面真尴尬:看着十几张礼貌微笑的脸注视着我,而我却在慢吞吞地拼写、拼错,然后重新拼写——往往要反复好几次。)”可知,作者在众人注视下反复拼写失误,感到十分尴尬,这种经历应是痛苦的,由此可推测划线单词torture的意义为“痛苦;折磨;痛苦的经历”。故选C项。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中的句子“I once asked a teacher how to sign the word “desperate”. “ASL doesn’t have a direct translation of every English word,” he told me. “If you want to sign ‘desperate’, you might just sign the word “want’, but with the appropriate facial and body language to show your desperation.”(我曾问一位老师如何用手语表达“desperate (绝望的)”。“美国手语 (ASL) 并非每个英语单词都有直接对应的手语,”他告诉我,“如果你想表达‘绝望’,可以打手语‘want (想要)’,但要用恰当的面部表情和肢体语言来传递那种绝望感。)”可知,作者意识到在ASL中,恰当的面部表情和肢体语言对于表达意义至关重要。故选A项。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段的句子“My initial reason for attending ASL classes was insignificant; a childhood fascination with ‘secret languages’.(我参加美国手语 (ASL) 课程最初的原因其实微不足道:源于童年时期对“秘密语言”的痴迷。)”可知,作者最初学习ASL是因为童年时对“秘密语言”的兴趣。故选C项。 C The modern world is full of things: electronics, cooking devices, furniture, clothing, and more. 【答案】28. C 29. A 30. B 31. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了法国企业家Luci Basch创立的Poppins应用程序,该应用程序允许人们从附近的人那里租用或借用物品,旨在减少人们购买新物品的欲望,促进共享、社交和循环经济。 【28题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“The modern world is full of things: electronics, cooking devices, furniture, clothing, and more. Those things eventually add up. The average French individual owns 2.5 tons of objects, and nearly a third of those things never get used.(现代世界充满了各种东西:电子产品、烹饪设备、家具、衣物等等。这些东西最终会累积起来。法国人平均拥有2.5吨物品,其中近三分之一从未被使用过。)”可知,作者在第一段中首先描述了现代世界物品繁多的现象,接着通过具体的数据,即法国人平均拥有的物品重量和未使用物品的比例,来进一步说明这一现象的普遍性和严重性。因此,作者通过呈现一个现象和数据来展开第一段。故选C。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“The average French individual owns 2.5 tons of objects, and nearly a third of those things never get used.( 法国人平均拥有2.5吨物品,其中近三分之一从未被使用过。)”和第二段“This fact was the motivation for French entrepreneur Luci Basch to co-found a new app called Poppins.(这一事实激发了法国企业家Luci Basch共同创立了一款名为Poppins的新应用程序。)”可知,许多法国人拥有未使用的物品这一事实激发了Luci Basch共同创立Poppins。故选A。 【30题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第三段“The rental prices are set by the owners and the app includes features such as in-app payments, optional insurance (just in case the item being lent or rented out is very valuable), and user verification (验证). This makes for a very smooth and trustworthy user experience. (租金由所有者设定,应用程序包括应用内支付、可选保险(以防借出或出租的物品非常贵重)和用户验证等功能。这使得用户体验非常顺畅且值得信赖。)”。第三段主要介绍了Poppins应用程序的一些功能,如应用内支付、可选保险和用户验证等,这些功能共同确保了租赁过程的可靠性和安全性,因此作者想在第三段中展示这个应用程序如何确保可靠的租赁。故选B。 【31题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“But the more important element of Poppins is the fact that it reduces people’s desire to buy new things and turns it into a sharing, social, circular economy.(但Poppins更重要的元素是,它减少了人们购买新物品的欲望,并将其转化为共享、社交、循环经济。)”可知,Poppins的主要价值在于它促进了一个具有许多好处的共享经济。故选D。 D In an era characterized by burnout, a therapeutic (有疗效的) alternative is hanging on a gallery wall. 【答案】32. B 33. B 34. A 35. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了艺术作品,尤其是原创艺术作品,对人们的身心健康具有积极的影响,甚至被视为一种可观赏的“药物”。 【32题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“When volunteers at London’s Courtauld Gallery stood before Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Manet’s A Bar at the Folies-Bergère, their stress levels dropped compared with those of volunteers viewing reproductions. Science suggests that original art is a medicine that one can view rather than swallow.(当伦敦考陶尔德美术馆的志愿者站在梵高的《耳朵上有绷带的自画像》和马奈的《福利·贝热尔的吧台》前时,与观看复制品的志愿者相比,他们的压力水平有所下降。科学表明,原创艺术是一种可以观赏而非吞咽的药物。)”可知,伦敦考陶尔德美术馆的实验表明原创艺术品具有治疗效果。故选B。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“These experiments followed the research published last year to quantify the improvements to physical and mental health from taking part in creative activities, as well as the economic gain — estimated to be an average of £1,000 per person a year, as a result of improved work productivity and fewer trips to the hospital.(这些实验遵循了去年发表的研究,该研究量化了参与创造性活动对身心健康的好处,以及经济收益——据估计,由于工作效率提高和去医院的次数减少,每人每年平均可获得1000英镑。)”可知,工作效率提升是艺术带来经济收益的体现。故选B。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“‘The best thing we can do is take time with it.’ Time, of course, is what we are lacking in today’s world, but this seems to be key to art’s therapeutic powers.(‘我们能做的最好的事情就是花时间与它相处。’当然,在当今世界,我们缺乏的就是时间,但这似乎是艺术治疗效果的关键。)”可知,放慢节奏和全心投入是艺术治疗效果的关键。故选A。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Science suggests that original art is a medicine that one can view rather than swallow.(科学表明,原创艺术是一种可以观赏而非吞咽的药物。)” For students, participating in travel programs can be beneficial, offering a range of educational advantages that extend far beyond the classroom. Through meaningful friendships formed along the way, they gain deeper insights into their own identity and how they relate to others.(当学生探索新体验、克服挑战时,他们会更清楚地认识到自己的优势、劣势和价值观,这有助于他们对自己的能力更有信心。通过旅途中建立的有意义的友谊,他们能更深入地洞察自己的身份以及与他人的相处方式)”围绕“学生通过旅行实现自我认知和探索”展开。D选项“Travel programs enable students to engage in a journey of self-discovery.(旅行项目让学生开启一段自我发现的旅程)”精准概括了本段核心内容,适合作小标题。故选D项。 【40题详解】 根据上文“Travel programs inspire in students a lifelong passion for learning. This motivates them to ask questions and seek deeper understanding.(旅行项目激发学生的终身学习热情。在探索新地方时,他们会对目的地的历史、地理和文化产生好奇心。这促使他们提出问题,寻求更深入的理解)”可知,此空需要说明这种好奇心和探索欲带来的学习模式转变。A选项“Thus, learning becomes an active and self-driven pursuit.(因此,学习变成了一种主动且自发的追求)”中的“Thus”表因果关系,承接前文的“motivates them to ask questions and seek deeper understanding”,且点明了旅行对学习方式的积极影响,符合语境。故选A项。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 Raising a baby wallaby (沙袋鼠) is truly one-of-a-kind. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 I decided to help Leo realize his dream. That afternoon, I spoke with our art teacher, who agreed to let us use the art room after school. I then reached out to our classmates. Some donated spare sketchbooks, and others contributed tubes of paint or quality pencils. Leo hesitated at first, but he was deeply moved by our belief in him and gratefully accepted our help. Night after night, he worked tirelessly, fueled by passion and our support. He chose to illustrate his own story about a boy who paints sunlight into people’s lives. Watching his idea come to life with the proper tools was magical; it was no longer just a sketchbook, but a gateway to his dream, finally unlocked. On competition results day, Leo and I waited anxiously in the school hall. He held my arm tightly, his hands shaking a little. When the judge announced the third and second place winners, his name wasn’t called, and his face fell in great disappointment. Then, the judge paused and said, “And for our grand prize winner, whose work displayed not only remarkable technique but intense emotional depth... Leo!” For a moment, there was dead silence, and then thunderous applause. Leo stood frozen, tears welling in his eyes as he made his way to the stage. He wasn’t just winning supplies; he was receiving the long-awaited recognition that his dream was real and within reach. 词汇激活 行为类 ①捐赠:donate/give away ②接受:accept/jump at ③选择:choose/select ④宣布:announce/declare 情绪类 ①感动的:moved/touched ②感激地:gratefully/appreciatively 【点睛】[高分句型1]That afternoon, I spoke with our art teacher, who agreed to let us use the art room after school.(运用了who引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2]Leo stood frozen, tears welling in his eyes as he made his way to the stage.(运用了独立主格结构) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
