Learning Objectives:
By the end of the class, students will be able to
1. Understand the passage about Mars exploration and draw a conclusion of the rules
2. Apply the rules to set a grammar filling of a given material about space travel
3. Share and discuss their ideas with teammates
Teaching Procedure:
Step 1:Lead in (5 minutes)
Show a short video clip about the first human landing on Mars (fictional) on PPT.
Ask students: "What do you think are the challenges astronauts might face on Mars?"
Invite 3-4 students to share their opinions.
Step 2: Discuss the answers in a group (Passage A) (10 minutes, Group work, Comprehension, Peer evaluation, Worksheet 1)

I'm not sure who is more excited, me or the alien that suddenly appears in front of me. I'm walking on a path on the moon. Unexpectedly, I'm face-to-face with the alien, who begins making strange sounds. That makes the other aliens around him make sounds too, and then a large spaceship appears. It lands on the moon with a loud noise. The door of the spaceship opens, and a group of aliens come out. They look at me curiously. I quickly raise my hands to show that I mean no harm.My name is Li Ming. I'm an astronaut from China. I was on a mission to explore the moon. No one had seen aliens before, and my colleagues and I were surprised. When the aliens and I saw each other, I was just glad to find them friendly. True to their peaceful nature, the aliens meant no real harm. They were just curious about me. They showed me around their spaceship and let me see their technology. Once they were satisfied, they allowed me to leave.
