Are you an “I” person or an “E” person? These two personality labels (性格标签) are widely discussed online. They are part of a popular personality test called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). All of the results have four letters, and there are 16 results in all. An “I” person is often shy and quiet while an “E” person is outgoing.
Even if an “I” person is often quiet, many online discussions show that he or she can still be outgoing at times. For example, when a shy person is with a group of shy friends, he or she might become more social like an “E” person.
Some scientists agree that this idea of temporarily (暂时地) changing personalities is called “masking”. That is hiding your true personality in some situations. “Human beings want to be part of a group, and they might become people-pleasers to do so,” wrote the MasterClass website.
Using the MBTI result to describe someone’s personality seems fun. The MBTI personality test may show something you don’t know about yourself and can even be a fun ice-breaker when meeting new friends. And that’s all it is—for fun. Knowing someone’s MBTI result doesn’t mean you really know this person. And those four letters of yours don’t decide who you are.

A.It’s a personality label. B.It’s a personality test.

When it comes to Western food, we can easily think of pizza, hamburgers and salad. For Chinese food, we usually think of rice, noodles and soup.
The main difference is that in Western dishes, there is usually a larger piece of meat with some light salad on the side. However, meat is only part of the dish in Chinese cooking. In Chinese dishes, meat and vegetables are usually mixed together in a balanced way.
Western people often see rice as a side dish. But in most Chinese dishes, rice is important, as well as noodles. If we don’t eat rice or noodles in a meal, we may feel like we don’t eat anything. In Western dishes, people use ingredients that taste similar, while Chinese dishes often mix different ingredients together to make the food taste special. That’s why China has eight cuisines (菜系) in total.
However, the taste of the eight cuisines is not always the same. When different cultures come together, people from different countries can share their food and make new dishes. For example, in America, many cooks change some popular Chinese dishes to suit (适合) American tastes. What’s more, mixing food is also popular now.
16.How does the writer start the text?
A.By telling stories. B.By comparing facts.

A.Different kinds of Western food.
B.Ways to make Chinese and Western food.
C.Importance of sharing food among different cultures.
D.Differences between Chinese and Western food.
20.Which of the following shows the structure of the text? (P=Paragraph 1,…)
A. B. C. D.

Trees are useful to man in three very important ways.
The first important way is that they provide man with food, wood and other things. Trees provide not only man with food, but also many animals with food. 21 It’s not easy for man to live on the earth, either.
The second important way is that trees give us shade. “Shade” means an area that is dark and cool under or behind something, such as a tree or a building, because the sun’s light does not get to it. 22 You can know how important the shade of a tree is to man and to animals.
The third important way is that trees help to prevent drought and floods. However, in many parts of the world, many people don’t know the third important way. 23 So they cut down a large number of trees. And they don’t plant or look after new trees. At last they will find they lose trees. 24 Because if there are no trees, the rain falls on hard ground and flows away, causing floods.
25 If you don’t do so, you will find you have lost the best friends in the end.

In a rainforest there are tall trees. The top of these trees is called the “canopy”. It is a world of life. Scientists want to study the plants and animals that live there, but reaching the top is not easy.
A scientist named Meg knows a lot about trees. People often call her “Canopy Meg”. When she was a child, she built tree houses and saved birds that fell from their nests. Now, she has climbed trees all over the world—from hot rainforests to cooler forests.
To study the canopy safely, Meg had the idea to build “walkways” between the trees. These walkways are like bridges. They let people walk high above the ground without hurting the trees. They are popular with scientists and visitors. However, walkways cannot reach the very top of the canopy, and there are still many mysteries (神秘的事) there. So, Meg uses a “canopy raft”. It is a light raft filled with air. A hot air balloon drops it onto the trees. Scientists can stand on it and watch the life in the canopy closely. Another way is to use a “tower crane”. It can move up and down, carrying scientists from the ground to above the treetops.
With these tools, scientists have found many insects living in the canopy, eating the leaves. Meg and her sons have had many exciting experiences, even sleeping in the trees and trying to eat bugs (虫子). Their work is very important to the study of the ecosystem.
Meg’s job is to find out more secrets of the treetops. She believes there are still lots of animals waiting to be discovered. Her work shows that the canopy is not just the top of the trees—it is a new world for science.

Galante is a wildlife biologist studying animals that are nearly dying out. A reporter Daniels spoke with him about his job. Read part of their conversation below.
Daniels: How old were you when you knew you wanted to be a biologist?
Galante: For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to work with animals, or study animals, or just have anything to do with animals. But it wasn’t really until after graduating from college with a biology degree that I was like, “Oh, okay, I’m actually a biologist now.”
Daniels: You’re able to travel all around the world. What are some of your favourite places that you have been to over the years?
Galante: I’m very lucky with all the places I’ve got to go. Africa is always closest to my heart. You see elephants and lions and all these big animals. But my favorite place I’ve ever been is Palau (帕劳群岛). I was amazed by the underwater scene there.
Daniels: What’s the best and most rewarding part of your job?
Galante: The best and most rewarding part of my job is what we’re doing right now. It’s inspiring young people to care so much about wildlife. To tell you the truth, I love to travel and work with animals. But all of that can’t be compared to the most exciting and rewarding moment when I get an email from somebody like you. I’m so delighted to hear “I want to do that when I grow up.” And so that’s what makes it all worth it: inspiring the next generation of young people to protect our environment.

That’s why China has eight cuisines (菜系) in total.
However, the taste of the eight cuisines is not always the same. When different cultures come together, people from different countries can share their food and make new dishes.
