B 19. A 20. Hey there. I just got back from the wildest adventure ever. No, not a roller coaster ride, but something way cooler. I was at the local zoo and let me tell you, those animals are the real stars. You know, I always thought the lions were just big, lazy cats who sleep all day. But today I saw one pacing back and forth, looking like he was planning to take over the world. And those monkeys forget it. They were more energetic than a bunch of kids on a sugar high. One of them even threw a banana at me. Classic. But the best part was the penguin exhibits. These little guys are like nature’s comedians. They walk around like they have invisible suits on, and when they slide on the ice, it’s like watching a ballet. A clumsy, funny ballet. I swear one of them smiled at me. I mean, who needs TikTok when you’ve got these guys entertaining you for free? Next time, I’m bringing popcorn. Maybe they’ll trade me for some fish. A Will You Be Our 100 Millionth Member? B。 B Two years ago, I had a bad habit of waking up late for work. Every morning was the same — I’d start my shift, do the work, and count the hours until I could log off. In the evenings, I played video games. The next day, the cycle would repeat. Now, while gaming remains a passion, I wake up early and my mornings are dedicated to learning and writing before my 9-to-5 begins. This shift started a domino effect (多米诺效应): a new higher-paying job and my own apartment that I didn’t have to share with strangers. Life didn’t become less demanding, but meaningfully busier. A key component of this transformation? Gamification. Video games thrive on clear objectives and progress. Think of the main mission as your overall goal, and side mission as the milestones along the way. Completing these “side mission” provide a flood of dopamine (多巴胺) , fueling continued engagement and self-improvement. Last year, my “main mission” was to become a cloud engineer. This required consistent learning and practical application. The sub-goals included mastering programming and databases. Each newly acquired skill felt like opening up new possibilities in my life. Just as video games track progress through skill points, I needed a way to visualize my advancement. Measuring my growth, even on days when I felt frustrated — everything I was studying was leaving my brain faster than it entered, offered powerful reassurance and reminded me that I was leveling up. It provided concrete feedback, highlighting how far I’d come and reducing the temptation to quit. I diligently documented every new skill I acquired toward becoming a cloud engineer, comparing it against the ‘requirements’ and the ‘nice to have’ sections of job descriptions until I covered everything. In essence, I applied the principles of playing games to motivate myself and stay on track. Through gamified thinking and the consistent cultivation of positive habits, I engineered my own growth. 24. Before forming a new habit, the author’s mornings were characterized by _________. A. rushing through daily missions B. handling counting-related duties C. repeating routines mechanically D. getting involved in video games 25. What was the author’s primary goal last year? A. To grasp skills like programming and databases in a year. B. To become a cloud engineer through continuous learning. C. To track his progress using skill points like a video game. D. To secure an apartment without sharing with strangers. 26. The underlined word “leveling up” in paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to _________. A. making progress B. following routines C. defending beliefs D. seeking entertainment 27. The writer’s purpose in writing this passage is to _________. A. persuade readers to get clear life targets B. share some strategies for personal growth C. criticize the current state of the job market D. promote the benefits of playing video games 【答案】24. C 25. B 26. A 27. 根据第一段“Every morning was the same — I’d start my shift, do the work, and count the hours until I could log off. 根据第二段“Last year, my “main mission” was to become a cloud engineer. 根据倒数第二段“I needed a way to visualize my advancement. 故选A。 通读全文,尤其是第二段“Think of the main mission as your overall goal, and side mission as the milestones along the way. Completing these “side mission” provide a flood of dopamine (多巴胺) , fueling continued engagement and self-improvement .(你可以把主线任务想象成你的总体目标,而支线任务则是沿途的里程碑。 ,第三段“Measuring my growth, even on days when I felt frustrated—everything I was studying was leaving my brain faster than it entered, offered powerful reassurance and reminded me that I was leveling up. 和最后一段“In essence, I applied the principles of playing games to motivate myself and stay on track. Through gamified thinking and the consistent cultivation of positive habits, I engineered my own growth. B。 C A dropped bag of chips disturbed a cave ecosystem in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico. This cave is almost cut off from the outside world, so introducing anything foreign can be harmful. “Things in the damp cave get wet quickly,” says park guide Ashley. The snack attracts tiny organisms, causing unwanted growth. Soon, small animals like crickets and spiders came to eat, spreading the pollution. Rangers found the bag within hours. “But that can be all it takes,” says Ashley. “I’m sure some crickets got a bit of the snack.” Over 500 million people visit American public lands each year, creating many chances to harm wild places. “When you look at the numbers, it’s incredible,” says Watts, head of the Leave No Trace Center in Colorado, an organization aimed at minimizing human impact on nature. Food waste takes a long time to break down, especially in certain areas. “It takes much longer for an apple core to rot in a desert than in a forest,” says Blye, a teacher at the University of Utah. Leaving waste introduces animals to an unnatural diet and changes their behavior with sometimes disastrous results. Bears who taste garbage and become a threat to humans may have to be put down. “Bears can get used to unnatural food in three weeks,” says Watts. “Everyone loses in this case.” Biological waste is also problematic. Dog waste brings new bacteria into the ecosystem and scares away deer. Meanwhile, human waste and toilet paper introduces dangerous bacteria into water sources. In national parks, trails (小路) are designed to avoid sensitive areas. Stepping off the trail, even for a quick photo, can scare wildlife away. Impacts from many visitors result in long-term damage to nature and wildlife. But people don’t think of that when they see the perfect photo opportunity. “It’s just such a hard thing to resist,” says Blye. The risk to sensitive ecosystems isn’t obvious. “It’s easy to think, oh, there’s wildflowers over there. I shouldn’t step on that,” says Blye, but these tiny ecosystems full of microscopic organisms essential to desert life provide many benefits, including reducing the risk of erosion (侵蚀) and helping absorb rainfall, and can take hundreds of years to return to its original state. 28. What does Ashley mean by “But that can be all it takes.”? A. The rangers’ work is efficient. B. The damage has been done. C. The cleanup takes a long time. D. The pollution has spread widely. 29. What is a result of foreign waste in public lands? A. A shift in animal behavior. B. A shortage of food supplies. C. A decline in bacterial species. D. An increase in conflicts between animals. 30. Why does the writer mention wildflowers in paragraph 5? A. To praise their benefits to desert life. B. To highlight our ignorance of wildlife. C. To stress their significance for photography. D. To show our unawareness of nature’s sensitivity. 31. It is conveyed in this passage that we should ________. A. encourage wildlife protection B. leave no trace in the wild C. promote national park tourism D. restore ecological damage 【答案】28. B 29. A 30. D 31. 根据文章第一段“A dropped bag of chips disturbed a cave ecosystem in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico. This cave is almost cut off from the outside world, so introducing anything foreign can be harmful. 和“The snack attracts tiny organisms, causing unwanted growth. Soon, small animals like crickets and spiders came to eat, spreading the pollution. Rangers found the bag within hours. 所以Ashley说“But that can be all it takes.” 根据文章第三段“Leaving waste introduces animals to an unnatural diet and changes their behavior with sometimes disastrous results. Bears who taste garbage and become a threat to humans may have to be put down. “Bears can get used to unnatural food in three weeks,” says Watts. “Everyone loses in this case.” 故选A。 根据文章第五段““It’s just such a hard thing to resist,” says Blye. 根据文章第一段“A dropped bag of chips disturbed a cave ecosystem in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico. 、第二段“Over 500 million people visit American public lands each year, creating many chances to harm wild places. 和第三段“Leaving waste introduces animals to an unnatural diet and changes their behavior with sometimes disastrous results. 以及第五段“The risk to sensitive ecosystems isn’t obvious. B。 D The grammar school boy from Stratford-upon-Avon has delivered a significant academic impact after ground-breaking research showed that Shakespeare does benefit children’s literacy and emotional development. But only if you act him out. A study found that a “rehearsal (彩排) room” approach to teaching Shakespeare broadened children’s vocabulary and writing complexity as well as their emotional literacy. “The research shows that the way actors work makes a big difference to the way children use language and also how they think about themselves,” Jacqui O’Hanlon of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) said. “Allowing children to use their whole bodies to bring the text to life and to make choices about character motivation had long been thought to improve literacy but now the research supported it”, she added. The randomized control trial involved hundreds of year 5 pupils at 45 state primary schools with no prior exposure to RSC pedagogy (教学法). They were split into target and control groups and asked to write, for example, a message in a bottle as Ferdinand after the shipwreck in The Tempest (《暴风雨》). The target group was given a 30-minute drama-based activity to accompany the passage. The peer-reviewed results showed that the target group of pupils tapped into a wider vocabulary, used words classed as more complicated or rarer, and wrote at greater length. They also appear to be more comfortable writing in role. While control pupils imagine how they themselves would react to being shipwrecked, target children put themselves in the shoes of a literary character and express that character’s emotion. Another study also found that while control pupils relied on “desert island clichés (陈词滥调)” such as palm trees, target pupils were more expressive giving a broader picture of the sky, the sea and the atmospheric conditions. O’Hanlon expressed surprise at the emotional literacy in the target children’s writing, noting they were more adaptable and hopeful. She stressed that it was probably related to the rehearsal room process where you were used to trying to imagine your way through. She also said more research would be needed but suggested that Shakespeare’s use of 20,000 words, compared with the everyday 2,000 words, significantly enriches children’s language experience, especially when they engage their whole bodies to bring the words to life. She added: “The reason we are performing Shakespeare’s work 400 years on is that there are so many different choices to make about character motivation, the meanings of different kinds of speeches, the setting. Shakespeare is great at asking you the questions. He doesn’t give you the answers and that’s why it’s such an interesting and creative body of work to explore.” 32. Which of the following learners’ activities fits the “rehearsal room” approach? A. Physically perform Shakespeare’s works. B. Emotionally reading Shakespeare’s plays. C. Independently writing reviews of Shakespeare’s plays. D. Regularly memorizing the lines of Shakespeare’s works. 33. What can we learn from the peer-reviewed results? A. Control pupils generally write longer pieces. B. Target pupils prefer using common vocabulary. C. Target pupils better identify with literary characters. D. Control pupils fail to react to an imagined situation. 34. O’Hanlon would most likely to agree that _________. A. young children demonstrate strong literacy and motivation B. memorizing Shakespeare’s texts directly teaches emotional skills C. actors’ performance helps children’s language learning and mental development D. Shakespeare’s enduring popularity lies in open questions and diverse interpretations 35. Which of the following might be the best title of this passage? A. Language’s Power: Writing in role. B. Shakespeare’s Magic: Learning by Acting. C. A Discovery Journey: Exploring Shakespeare’s World. D. A Path to Growth: Conducting Drama-driven Research. A 33. C 34. D 35. 根据第一段中“A study found that a ‘rehearsal (彩排) room’ approach to teaching Shakespeare broadened children’s vocabulary and writing complexity as well as their emotional literacy. 故选A项。 根据第三段中“The peer-reviewed results showed that the target group of pupils tapped into a wider vocabulary, used words classed as more complicated or rarer, and wrote at greater length. They also appear to be more comfortable writing in role. While control pupils imagine how they themselves would react to being shipwrecked, target children put themselves in the shoes of a literary character and express that character’s emotion. 根据最后一段中“She added: ‘The reason we are performing Shakespeare’s work 400 years on is that there are so many different choices to make about character motivation, the meanings of different kinds of speeches, the setting. Shakespeare is great at asking you the questions. He doesn’t give you the answers and that’s why it’s such an interesting and creative body of work to explore.’(她补充道:‘400年来我们一直在演绎莎士比亚的作品,原因在于对于角色动机、不同类型台词的含义以及场景设置,有太多不同的选择。 通读全文,结合第一段中“The grammar school boy from Stratford-upon-Avon has delivered a significant academic impact after ground-breaking research showed that Shakespeare does benefit children’s literacy and emotional development. But only if you act him out. The Science of Risk-Seeking Sometimes we decide that a little unnecessary danger is worth it because when we weigh the risk and the reward, the risk seems worth taking. ____36____ Some of us enjoy activities that would surprise and scare the rest of us. Why? Experts say it may have to do with how our brains work? The reason why any of us take any risks at all might have to do with early humans. Risk-takers were better at hunting, fighting, or exploring. ____37____ As the quality of risk-taking was passed from one generation to the next, humans ended up with a sense of adventure and a tolerance for risk. So why aren’t we all jumping out of airplanes then? Well, even 200,000 years ago, too much risk-taking could get one killed. A few daring survived, though, along with a few stay-in-the-cave types. As a result, humans developed a range of character types that still exists today. So maybe you love car racing, or maybe you hate it. ___38___ No matter where you are on the risk-seeking range, scientists say that your willingness to take risks increases during your teenage years. ____39____ To help you do that, your brain increases your hunger for new experiences. New experiences often mean taking some risks, so your brain raises your tolerance for risk as well. ___40___ For the risk-seekers a part of the brain related to pleasure becomes active, while for the rest of us, a part of the brain related to fear becomes active. As experts continue to study the science of risk-seeking, we’ll continue to hit the mountains, the waves or the shallow end of the pool. A. It all depends on your character. B. Those are the risks you should jump to take. C. Being better at those things meant a greater chance of survival. D. Thus, these well-equipped people survived because they were the fittest. E. This is when you start to move away from your family and into the bigger world. F. However, we are not all using the same reference standard to weigh risks and rewards. G. New brain research suggests our brains work differently when we face a nervous situation. 36. F 37. C 38. A 39. E 40. Dana told him everything was a quarter except Nezumi, a cotton toy rat. It was grey with some cotton sticking out from the hole where an ear had been torn off. “Nezumi is extra special, so he is ten dollars. He needs a safe new home.” Dana sighed. Tim laughed saying he didn’t have ten dollars. Dana laughed too and gave Nezumi to Tim as a free gift because he was her friend. When Tim whispered it was sort of old, Dana said old toys were the best. She then invited Tim to her birthday party the next evening, adding that her parents were giving her a real rat for her birthday. Tim was amazed and asked if it was a live rat. “Of course.” Dana said. At home, Tim’s mother showed him the gift she had bought for Dana. It was a knitting spool(针织线轴) shaped like a mushroom. Mom said Dana could knit a scarf for her doll. Tim sighed that Dana wasn’t a knitting kind of person but a rat kind of person. Mom laughed after knowing what had happened. Together they drove to the pet store, where Tim searched and searched and selected a clear plastic ball, one in which the rat could run around on the floor safe from cats and dogs. Tim thought of Nezumi’s ear and decided Dana’s new rat would need this ball. The next day, Dana brought cupcakes to class. When she handed a cupcake to Tim, she asked if Tim brought Nezumi to school as Nezumi liked to ride in backpacks. Tim was at a loss because Nezumi was at home on his bed. Then Dana asked what gift he was giving her. Tim replied it was a surprise. In silence they sat for a while before he heard Dana say her parents were giving her a new bike for her birthday instead of a live rat because they thought rats would bite things. Para 1: At home that afternoon, Tim stared at the plastic rat ball. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2: All of a sudden, he had an idea. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】At home that afternoon, Tim stared at the plastic rat ball. Wondering about the use of the clear plastic ball if Dana had no rat, he started walking up and down the room with a frown on his face. Mom was surprised and asked him what was happening. Tim told her Dana wasn’t getting a live rat from her parents but a bike. As they were racking their brains (绞脑汁) to come up with an appropriate gift, Tim turn around and saw Nezumi on his bed. All of a sudden, he had an idea. He lifted Nezumi and squeezing Nezumi into the plastic ball with great caution so that Nezumi would be safe from cats and dogs. Seeing this, Mom asked Tim whether he was giving Dana an old cotton rat with one ear as a gift, Tim nodded with a smile saying she would definitely like it. Looking at Mom’s confused expression, Tim added that Dana was a Nezumi kind of person who thought old toys were the BEST. 如:walk up and down, not…but…, with great caution等高级词汇;Wondering about the use of the clear plastic ball if Dana had no rat, he started walking up and down the room with a frown on his face. Seeing this, Mom asked Tim whether he was giving Dana an old cotton rat with one ear as a gift, Tim nodded with a smile saying she would definitely like it. Hello, international friends club, can I help you? A. persuade readers to get clear life targets B. share some strategies for personal growth C. criticize the current state of the job market D. promote the benefits of playing video games C A dropped bag of chips disturbed a cave ecosystem in Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico. C The cleanup takes a long time. A. encourage wildlife protection B. leave no trace in the wild C. promote national park tourism D. restore ecological damage D The grammar school boy from Stratford-upon-Avon has delivered a significant academic impact after ground-breaking research showed that Shakespeare does benefit children’s literacy and emotional development. I knew exercise is good for health — who doesn’t? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2: All of a sudden he had an idea. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
