The guqin is one of China’s oldest instruments. It has a history of about 3,000 years. Xu Chaoran, a guqin player, is famous for putting the guqin to modern use. She often uses the guqin to play popular songs.
As a child, Xu was very interested in music. At the age of 9, she started to play the guzheng. This made it easier for her to learn the guqin. In 2009, Xu went to study traditional Chinese music at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. There, she spent a lot of time learning the guqin. After finishing her studies, Xu kept practicing the guqin.
