根据上文“When was the last time you had to memorize a phone number? The chances are that it has been years, given that you can simply use your digital devices to memorize that number for you. In a world of digital information, a new phenomenon “digital amnesia”, which refers to the loss of our brains’ ability to remember information as we become dependent on technology to get data, is starting to spread across the country.(你上一次记电话号码是什么时候?
根据上文“Start choosing one day of the week to put away your digital devices. If you need something to wake you up, avoid using your phone, as it’ll likely stimulate you to check your messages before you’re even stepping out of bed.(开始选择一周中的一天来放下你的电子设备。如果你需要一些东西来唤醒你,那就不要用手机,因为它可能会刺激你在起床之前查看信息)”可知,空前提到了在这个日子里要避免使用手机等数字设备,以免在起床前就受到信息的干扰。E选项“不要盯着电子设备看,你的大脑会得到休息”承接上文,继续说明设立无屏幕日的好处,符合语境,故选E。
【18题详解】
此空为小标题;根据本段内容“Instead of depending on your phone, set out to design a reliable workout plan, which uses printed instructions to train your memory. There are several techniques you can use, but whichever ones you choose, physical paper is the key. It allows you to exercise your brain to find the answer within the pages themselves, rather than turning to your phone for help.(与其依赖你的手机,不如着手设计一个可靠的锻炼计划,使用打印的说明来训练你的记忆力。你可以使用几种技巧,但无论你选择哪一种,实体纸都是关键。它可以锻炼你的大脑在书页中找到答案,而不是求助于你的手机)”可知,本段主要讲的是不要依赖手机,而是要通过制定可靠的锻炼计划来训练记忆力,使用纸质指令来锻炼大脑在页面中寻找答案的能力。故A选项“锻炼记忆力”能够概括本段主旨,故选A。
【19题详解】
根据上文“There is no denying that digital devices have made our lives extremely convenient.(不可否认,数字设备使我们的生活非常方便)”以及后文“Although we can try to avoid using digital devices, it is undeniable that we will need them for certain tasks.(虽然我们可以尽量避免使用数字设备,但不可否认的是,我们将需要它们来完成某些任务)”可知,第四段先承认数字设备的便利,后需转折指出其负面影响。
根据后文“It can be a very effective tool, but its usefulness, or uselessness, entirely depends on your attitude. You have to learn how to use it correctly so that it doesn’t take over.(它可以是一个非常有效的工具,但它的有用或无用,完全取决于你的态度。你必须学会如何正确地使用它,这样它才不会占上风)”可知,本句承上启下,既提到技术的存在性,又引出下文关于正确使用技术的讨论。故G选项“尽管有所谓的‘数字健忘症’,但科技确实在我们的生活中占有一席之地”符合语境,故选G。

Text 1
W: Michael, you're here so early! Been busy lately?
M: Not really, Jane. If I leave after 7:40, the roads turn into a parking lot. I don't want my car stuck in that mess. So I'm forced to leave this early.
W: Now that it's getting warmer, maybe you could try taking the bus or cycling instead.
Text 2
M: That's 600 dollars, please. Would you like any bags?
W: No, thanks. Oh, wait—I left my shopping bag in the taxi. So, please give me one.
M: No problem.
Text 3
M: You're back. Lovely to see you again. How was your flight?
W: It was so tiring. It was an 8-hour flight. We were supposed to land at 1 pm, but the flight was an hour late. All I want now is to sleep.
M: Well, that is the price you pay for long-distance travel.
Text 4
W: I heard Sherry's father decided to retire. Do you think she'll step in and run the company?
M: Hard to say, but fashion design was never really her thing. She majored in computer programming at college and then engineering in graduate school.
Text 5
W: Did you put laundry soap in this time, Robert? If not, you'll have to wash everything again.
M: I didn't forget this time. But I did forget to press "Start". Can you do that for me? I'm taking out the trash.
Text 6
M: I'm a regular at this restaurant. It has an amazing variety of dishes to choose from.
W: Oh, I've heard of this place! It is highly rated online—people say it's good value. What are you thinking of ordering?
M: I think I'll go for roast chicken. Want to try it too?
W: Actually, I just had roast chicken yesterday when I ate out with Shelly. What about fried fish or seafood salad?
M: I've never tried them, actually. But if you're open to other choices, the steak here is good. You can have it with beans and mushrooms.
W: But I'm not that hungry.
M: Don't worry. The steak here isn't too big and we can share it.
W: That sounds like a good idea.
Text 7
W: Hi, Robin.
M: Hi, Mary, how's it going?
W: Not bad. Listen, Robin, any plans for tonight?
M: No. I've got a ton of tasks to complete and will probably have to stay late.
W: I got free tickets to Nezha 2. Would you like to join me?
M: Nezha 2? It's a huge hit. What time does it start?
W: At 7:30 pm. So we need to head out half an hour early.
M: Oh, Mary, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it that early. I'll be at the office until 9:00 pm at least. Maybe you can ask Zoe or Carol.
W: Already checked. Zoe's down with the flu, and Carol's busy preparing final exam papers for her students.
M: What a pity!
Text 8
M: Hello. I've been trying to sign up for one of your courses online, but I'm having trouble visiting the website. And today is the last day!
W: I'm sorry to hear that, sir. There seems to be a problem with our website. Our tech team is working on it, but I'd be happy to help you sign up over the phone right now!
M: That would be perfect! Thanks a lot.
W: Great. May I start with your name?
M: Alex Mooney.
W: And which course would you like to sign up for? We now have creative writing and business writing available.
M: Well, I was planning to take fiction writing, but creative writing works too.
W: OK. May I have your ID number, please?
M: Of course. It's 595-16-36.
W: All set! The materials will be provided in the first class on September 1st. Remember to bring a notebook with you!
M: Thank you. See you then.
Text 9
M: Congratulations! You're the project manager now. I told you there was no need to worry.
W: Ha, yeah. It couldn't be better. All the members were in agreement with the plan today. If everything goes well, we can kick off the project next week.
M: We've got to celebrate. How about taking Kate to that fancy downtown restaurant tonight?
W: Actually, could we do it this Sunday instead? I still have to decide on some schedule details for the project.
M: Sure. By the way, Kate's teacher, Ms Thompson, called today.
W: Is there any problem with Kate's studies?
M: No, honey. You know that writing competition Kate participated in last week at school?
W: Mm-hmm, but I've been so busy lately that I didn't even get to ask what she wrote about.
M: You! Ms Thompson told me Kate's essay won first prize—and in it, she called you her "supermom".
W: Oh, what a sweet daughter we have!
Text 10
Boys and girls, thank you for staying after class. I know you're eager to get to your English party at 4 o'clock, so I promise this will finish in 20 minutes—just enough time to share something important. I've noticed some of your grades are going down in last month's exams. While this might feel discouraging, this doesn't mean you're not working hard or that your attitude is the problem. You just haven't found the right learning method for you yet. Here's something that might surprise you: Even someone as clever as Albert Einstein struggled with exams. In 1895, despite months of preparation, young Einstein failed Zurich University's entrance exam. However, he finally succeeded not by studying harder, but by studying smarter—he improved his learning approach and mastered the exam's demands before his second attempt. So let's work together to find the methods that work well for you. And I'll share some proven ways to improve your exam performance—but remember, your effort is what makes the difference!

As a child, Dan Fischer loved going to the beach and riding bikes along the coastline with his father, Karl Fischer. So when his father died of pancreatic cancer, he turned to the healing power of the ocean.
At the start of this year, Fischer wrote his father’s name on his surfboard and “took him out into the ocean” in Newport, Rhode Island. His father’s name shone in the sun on what felt like a shared adventure. Inspired, Fischer made a video and posted it on social media the same day. “If you love the ocean, or you know someone who loves the ocean, or maybe you lost someone who just loved being outdoors…, you can comment on this video with their name and a bit of their story. And I’ll put their name on my board here, just like I’ve done with my father’s name,” he said in the video. “And I’ll take them out into the ocean for you.”
Names poured in from thousands of strangers grieving (悲伤) for the loss of loved ones. Accordingly, the One Last Wave Project was born. The aim of the project was to exchange stories with a community of people going through the same pain. They were essentially healing together. About two months later, Fischer had received over 5,000 names and written most of them on two surfboards. The first two surfboards ran out of space — he’s working on getting more. He wrote the names in neat letters on the surfboard and put a clear acrylic (丙烯酸的) coat over them so they didn’t wash off.
Though a lot of people have been struggling with grief, Fischer was amazed by the responses that have poured in. “If I am able to help one person or one person shares their name, that is enough for me,” he said. “But I am blown away — by not just the number of people sharing, but the depth of stories and love that they are sharing.” And he plans to take his project around the world and connect with even more people — through sharing grief and the power of the ocean.
24. Why did Dan Fischer first write his father’s name on his surfboard?
A. To memorize his father with the ocean’s healing power.
B. To start a new surf project.
C. To show his love for surfing to strangers.
D. To ask others to share their stories.
25. How did Dan Fischer feel about people’s responses to his project?
A. Amazed and deeply touched. B. Tired but proud.
C. Confused and worried. D. Disappointed but hopeful.
26. What does Fischer intend to do next?
A. He will share his project with the world.
B. He will connect to more social media.
C. He will extend the project worldwide.
D. He will sail around the world with strangers.
27. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. The healing Power of Surfing.
B. A Project to Collect People’s Names.
C. Dan Fischer’s Surfing Adventure.
D. One Last Wave: Grief, Love and the Ocean.

Over six decades, Tanzanian acrobatics (杂技) has developed into a remarkable art form through sustained cultural exchange with China. This practice has become a vital cultural bridge, representing how international cooperation promotes lasting friendship and shared understanding between nations.
The story began in the 1960s, when a Chinese acrobatic group’s performance in Tanzania deeply impressed the local art community and audiences-a key moment that inspired a landmark training program. In 1965, twenty Tanzanian students, including Hamis Adam Nyota, traveled to Wuhan, China, for professional acrobatic training. Though they initially faced challenges adapting to the new environment, the group trained diligently. After four years of devoted practice, they mastered complex skills and returned home in 1969 to establish Africa’s first national acrobatic group. Their perseverance laid the foundation for an lasting artistic tradition that would shape generations.
Through subsequent decades, acrobatics took root in Tanzanian society. Saidi Ramadhani Yusuph, a second-generation acrobat, has made vital contributions to carrying forward this acrobatic heritage. Since starting his teaching career, Yusuph has trained a large number of students, focusing not only on building physical strength and flexibility but also on developing mental discipline and teamwork. What was once seen as mere entertainment has now transformed into a respected profession: it offers health benefits, and performers can earn a stable income through shows at hotels, weddings, and international events.
Now, it is easy to see that the art is getting more and more recognition around the world. One example of this success is the Ramadhani Brothers, who gained praise on the U.S. television show America’s Got Talent. These achievements bring pride to Tanzania while motivating younger artists to pursue excellence.
From Wuhan to Tanzania, this meaningful cultural exchange continues to inspire new generations. Nine-year-old Aisha Juma, a young trainee, talks about what acrobatics means to her: “Through my daily hula hoop (呼啦圈) drills and acrobatic practice, I not only get stronger and sharper in mind, but also keep this tradition going.”
28. What started China-Tanzania acrobatic exchange?
A. Chinese group’s 1960s show.
B. Tanzanian students’ 1965 trip.
C. A training program’s launch.
D. Nyota’s professional training.
29. What is Saidi Ramadhani Yusuph’s main role described in paragraph 3?
A. A skilled performer of acrobatics. B. A guardian of acrobatic heritage.
C. A pioneer of cultural exchange. D. A founder of a local acrobatics school.
30. What can we infer about the impact of acrobatics in Tanzania?
A. It has made the local people wealthy.
B. It mainly benefits international performers.
C. It has weakened its original entertainment value.
D.It has become a source of opportunity and pride.
31. Why does the author mention nine-year-old Aisha Juma?
A. To show her physical and mental gains from acrobatics.
B. To illustrate cultural exchange’s inspiration for the young.
C. To stress the difficulty of passing acrobatic traditions to kids.
D. To prove young trainees’ greater devotion to acrobatic practice.
D
Many of us believe that our pets make us healthier and happier. While there is some truth to this, the scientific evidence is more complex than it seems.
Research in the field of human-animal interaction has produced mixed results. For example, some studies show that pet owners are less likely to be depressed, while others show the opposite. Experts suggest this inconsistency may occur because people who already feel lonely or depressed might get a pet for comfort, thus affecting the data.
One clearer benefit of dog ownership is increased physical activity, thanks to daily walks. A famous 1998 study found that pet owners who had suffered heart attacks were more likely to survive the following year. A 2019 analysis even showed a dramatic 24% lower risk of death for dog owners. However, when researchers adjusted for other factors, such as the owners’ pre-existing health and activity levels, this benefit nearly disappeared. “You’re more likely to have a dog if you’re already active.” explains developmental psychologist Megan Mueller, highlighting that correlation does not equal causation.
Consequently, scientists are now looking beyond simple ownership. They are focusing on the quality of the relationship between humans and their pets. “Pets are not a medical intervention; they’re a relationship,” says gerontologist Jessica Bibbo. The level of attachment and emotional support seems to be the true key to health benefits.
Controlled experiments support this. A 2025 study found that dog owners had lower stress hormone levels when their pets were present during stressful tasks. In another study, a group of older adults who were given crickets to care for showed improved mental health compared to a control group. This suggests that the act of caring itself, not just the type of animal, can be powerful. The secret to a healthier life, it seems, lies not merely in owning a pet, but in building a strong, supportive bond with it.
32. What does the research in paragraph 2 mainly show us?
A. Health benefits of pet ownership.
B. Various causes for human loneliness.
C. Strong objection to the previous belief.
D.Inconsistent results of human-pet studies.
33. How does the writer illustrate pet ownership increases physical activities?
A. By listing examples. B. By presenting findings.
C. By clarifying concepts. D. By giving definitions.
34. What can be inferred from Jessica Bibbo’s statement?
A. The value of pets lies in emotional connection.
B. Medical interventions are less effective than pets.
C. Scientists have overestimated the benefits of pets.
D. Pets should not be used in any medical treatment.
35. What’s the main idea of this passage?
A. Human beings need animal companionship.
B. Pets serve as the best cure for mental issues.
C. Pet ownership alone guarantees a healthy life.
D. Human-pet bond contributes to owners’ well-being.
