2. Which of the following is the main feature of grasslands?
A. tall trees B. sparse shrubs C. plenty of grasses D. plenty of grasses
3. Grasslands are a link between ______ and ______.
Why grasslands are the transition zones(过渡地带) lying batween forests and deserts?
Grasslands are special transition zones lying between forests and deserts.
In terms of rainfall, grasslands get less rain than forests—too little for big trees to grow widely. But they get more rain than deserts, which allows plenty of grasses to live and thrive.
For vegetation, grasslands are covered with grasses instead of the tall trees in forests or the sparse shrubs in deserts. This makes grasslands a perfect link connecting the wetter forest areas and the drier desert areas.

What other fun facts about ecosystems do you know?
1. One single oak(橡树) tree can be home to more than 500 kinds of living things, like insects, birds, fungi and small mammals.
2. Bees and flowers help each other: bees get sweet nectar(花蜜) for food, and flowers use bees to spread pollen(花粉) and make new seeds. Without bees, many plants would disappear.
3. Tundra areas have permanently frozen soil(永久冻土) called permafrost, which can be hundreds of meters thick. Only small and tough plants like mosses(苔藓) and lichens(地衣) can grow there.
What ecosystems are they talking about?

Discussion:Why do we need to protect our ecosystems?
Because ecosystem provides natural resources
Because we are part of the chain.
Because we can keep a balance by protecting biodiversity.
To treat the earth kindly is to treat
oneself kindly.
so ... that...意思是“如此……以至于……”,引出结果状语从句。其中so adj/adv that + 从句。如:
