They entered quietly, and explored downstairs. There were cobwebs everywhere and everything was old and broken. Then they threw their tools in a corner and walked upstairs, but there was nothing there. They were just about to go downstairs and start digging when Tom stopped.
“What is it? ” whispered Huck, going white with fear.

The boys lay down, looking through the holes in the wooden floor. There were two men downstairs. One was an old Spaniard in a wide sombrero hat and the other was dirty and unpleasant-looking.
Tom and Huck shook with fear when they heard the Spaniard speak because they found it was Indian Joe. He said, “It’s time for us to move, partner. What will we do with the $650 from the robbery?”
“Let’s keep $30 each and leave the bag here. ”
The dirty man went to the fireplace and moved a stone. Then he lifted out a bag full of money and took out some coins. The two boys forgot all their fears when they saw there was real treasure downstairs. Then Indian Joe started digging a hole with his knife and the knife hit something. “What is it? ” asked the other man.
“It’s a box, ” said Indian Joe. And he put in his hand and pulled out a handful of gold coins. The other man found the boys’ tools, and they soon pulled out the box.

“The Murrell Gang used this area one summer, ” said his partner.
“They must have hidden their money here. ”
“What will we do with this, Joe? Will we bury (埋) it again?”
“No, someone might find it, ” said Indian Joe. “Let’s bury it in the number two den (洞穴). ”

Spelling acronyms involve creating a sentence 8 on the letters of a target word. Sentence mnemonics are also 12 . The following can help you with the difference between the words “principal” and “principle”, “A principal is your pal at school, and a principle is a belief or rule.” Or this one to help you remember the difference in spelling between “deserts” (such as the Sahara) and “desserts” (such as Tiramisu), “A dessert has two sugars so it’s 13 but a desert only has one.” The two “sugars” mentioned in the sentence refer to the two s’s in the word “dessert”. At night in the main square, all the Trojans c 48 happily. They danced and sang around the horse, laughing at the Greeks. The captain said he hadn’t laughed like that since he was a child. After the party, they locked the city gates and went to sleep.
By midnight, the square was e 49 except the horse. Then a secret door on the horse opened. It was full of Greek soldiers! They climbed out q 50 and opened the main gates. When you’re leaning 1 new language, there are a lot of things to remember: spelling rules, grammar rules, punctuation rules...the list is endless. But there’s 2 that can help you: mnemonics (助记符号).
Mnemonics are techniques to help you remember things. There are a variety of them, 3 rhymes, spelling acronyms (首字母缩略词) and sentence mnemonics.
Rhymes are a great way 4 things. The sounds, unusual words and rhythm of them help you recall ideas. Do you know when Columbus sailed to America? There’s a thyme to help you which goes like this, “ 5 fourteen-hundred and ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.” Most people 6 that since they 7 young and never forget it!
Spelling acronyms involve creating a sentence 8 on the letters of a target word. For example, the following sentence can help you with the spelling of the word “because”, “Big elephants can always understand small elephants”. Notice how the 9 letter of each word in the sentence spells out the word “because”. This one 10 to remind you to include the “h” in the word “which”, “Which house is Cath’s house?” To spell Mississippi, a rhythm mnemonic is combined with a spelling one: “miss iss ippi”. And 11 you can’t remember the spelling of the word “mnemonics”, use this one “Mike never eats meat or nuts in case he is sick.”
Or this one to clear up the confusion between “stationery” and “stationary”, “The car is stationary. An envelope is stationery”.
You can learn grammar rules with sentence mnemonics too. For example, this one 14 help you with the position of adjectives, “Adjectives come before nouns just as ’A’ comes before ‘N’.” And this one can help you learn about the use of apostrophes (撇号), “Apostrophes show possession (拥有).”

Every boy wants to find treasure. Tom was no different. One summer day Tom told Huck about his idea.
“Where can we look for treasure? ” asked Huck.
“It’s hidden on islands, under dead trees, but mostly under the floors in haunted (闹鬼的) houses.”
So, one Saturday afternoon Tom and his friend went to look for treasure at the haunted house on Cardiff Hill. It was a quiet and lonely place, which made the boys feel very frightened.
“Keep quiet! There’s someone downstairs. ”
“There’s thousands of dollars in there, ” said Indian Joe.

Technology has become an important part of our lives. It’s like a helpful friend, changing how we live, study, and have fun, and it’s also making a big difference in other areas.
41 Drones (无人机) fly over fields to check plants. If an area is dry or plants are sick, the drones let farmers know quickly. Smart sensors (传感器) in the soil measure (测量) how much water and nutrients plants need. 42
Technology also does amazing things in hospitals. Doctors use special machines, like X-ray machines, to see inside our bodies and find out what’s wrong. 43 These robots can work very exactly, which makes the work safer for patients.
Space is another really cool area where technology works wonders. Robotic rovers (探测器) are like little space robots. For example, on Mars, these rovers drive around, take pictures, and pick up rocks. 44 Special telescopes (望远镜), like the James Webb Space Telescope, let us see stars billions of light-years away.
However, technology isn’t all good. Too much screen time harms our eyes and can lead to poor eyesight. 45 In the future, self-driving cars could take us to school or work, and robots might help with chores at home. But we must use technology wisely to make our lives better, not lazier.
A.Scientists on Earth can control the rovers from far away.
B.In farming, new technology helps farmers grow more food.
C.Depending too much on it may make us forget simple skills.
D.This helps farmers a lot, and the crops can also grow better.
E.Some very difficult medical work can now be done by robots.
