根据第二段“Save $20 off the standard ticket price by purchasing a series ticket to all four talks in the Big Thinkers Series (available on demand) or purchase a single ticket for just $13 per lecture (available by early booking).(购买该系列全套四场讲座的通票(支持按需回看),可在标准票价基础上立减20美元;也可提前预订单场讲座门票,单价仅13美元。)” A brief history of timekeeping with Chad Orzel部分中 “From Stonehenge to atomic clocks, here is the 5,000-year history of how science is used to mark time. Chad Orzel, the internationally best-selling author of  How to Teach Quantum Physics to Your Dog, offers us a witty journey through scientific theory and quirky (离奇的) historical detail.(本场讲座将呈现五千年的计时发展史 —— 从巨石阵到原子钟,讲述人类如何运用科学知识计量时间。国际畅销书《给狗狗讲量子物理》的作者查德・奥泽尔,将以风趣幽默的方式,带我们领略科学理论与离奇历史细节交织的奇妙历程。)” 可知,查德・奥泽尔的讲座主题是计时的历史。故选 B。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“The Big Thinkers Series from New Scientist events features four online talks, covering a wide range of topics by world-class scientist speakers and experts. If you are curious about your planet or your universe, then this series is your place to hear the latest research.(《新科学家》活动的大思想家系列包括四场在线讲座,由世界一流的科学家演讲者和专家就广泛的主题进行演讲。如果你对你的星球或宇宙感到好奇,那么这个系列就是你了解最新研究的地方。)”可知,这四场讲座的共同点是它们都是针对科学爱好者的。故选A。 B Eugene Newman Parker, a leading figure in heliospheric (日球层的) physics for the past half century, passed away peacefully at his home in Chicago on March 15. He was 94. Considered as a visionary in the field of heliophysics, Parker revolutionized our understanding of the sun and its effects on Earth and other bodies within the solar system. NASA even stated that the field of heliophysics exists in large part because of Dr Eugene Parker. In 2018, Parker became the first living scientist to witness the launch of a spacecraft which was named in his honour. Parker is best known for his groundbreaking theory on the existence of a phenomenon called “solar wind”, a continuous stream of charged particles (粒子) that flow off the sun. It can become violent, causing space weather that impacts the Earth. When Parker’s research was published in 1958, his theory was initially met with skepticism (怀疑) by the scientific community. The general view then was that the space between planets was completely empty of any matter. But there were no errors in his study or his calculations, and the theory was later proven to be correct in 1962, when a NASA spacecraft mission to Venus revealed the constant presence of a supersonic wind — exactly as Parker had predicted. That experience likely led to the advice Parker often gave young researchers: “If you do something new or innovative, expect trouble. But think critically about it because if you’re wrong, you want to be the first one to improve.” Parker never co-authored a paper with his students, thus urging them to be independent. Parker was wise, humble, and straightforward. His son Eric said, “My sister Joyce and I didn’t get a real feel for what a ‘big dog’ our dad was in the field.” They got an even better sense when a month after Parker’s death, they travelled to Lund, Sweden, to accept on his behalf the Crafood Prize in Astronomy. 4. What can we learn from the second paragraph? A. The sun has less effect on Earth than expected. B. A spaceship was launched in memory of Parker. C. Parker deserved credit for his great contributions. D. NASA offered new insights into the solar system. 5. Why did people doubt Parker’s best known theory at first? A. Some mistakes were found in his calculations. B. It went against the popular opinion at that time. C. The presence of a supersonic wind was proven. D. Matter was believed to exist between planets. 6. What did Parker suggest young researchers do? A. Seek close cooperation. B. Avoid high expectations. C. Learn by trial and error. D. Compete against others. 7. What does the author think of Parker? A. Responsible and dependent. B. Straight and generous. C. Intelligent yet conventional. D. Distinguished yet modest. C 5. B 6. C 7. 根据第二段“Considered as a visionary in the field of heliophysics, Parker revolutionized our understanding of the sun and its effects on Earth and other bodies within the solar system. NASA even stated that the field of heliophysics exists in large part because of Dr Eugene Parker. In 2018, Parker became the first living scientist to witness the launch of a spacecraft which was named in his honour.(帕克被认为是日球层物理学领域的远见者,他彻底改变了我们对太阳及其对地球和太阳系内其他天体的影响的理解。美国宇航局甚至表示,日球层物理学领域的存在在很大程度上要归功于尤金·帕克博士。2018年,帕克成为第一位见证以他的名字命名的航天器发射的在世科学家)”可知,帕克在日球层物理学领域做出了巨大贡献,NASA也肯定了他的贡献,所以他理应因自己的巨大贡献而受到赞誉。故选C项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“When Parker’s research was published in 1958, his theory was initially met with skepticism (怀疑) by the scientific community. The general view then was that the space between planets was completely empty of any matter.(当帕克的研究于1958年发表时,他的理论最初遭到了科学界的怀疑。当时的普遍观点是行星之间的空间完全没有任何物质)”可知,人们一开始怀疑帕克最著名的理论是因为它违背了当时流行的观点。故选B项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“That experience likely led to the advice Parker often gave young researchers: “If you do something new or innovative, expect trouble. But think critically about it because if you’re wrong, you want to be the first one to improve.”(这段经历可能导致了帕克经常给年轻研究者的建议:“如果你做了新的或有创新的事情,就要预料到会有麻烦。 C For years, we’ve been teaching a class on music and the mind. At the start of each semester, we asked the students to complete a survey on their favorite songs and artists. Students’ favorite songs and artists get longer and more varied each year and their playlists barely overlap (重叠). Indeed, listening to music is a deeply private and personal experience nowadays and even more so with the introduction of the iPod and smartphones. When teenagers listen to music via streaming, artificial intelligence and social media platforms team up to suggest personalized playlists for them. Some young people feel that AI generated playlists make them exposed to something dull. Their playlists are populated with songs and artists they’ve never heard of before, yet they all sound similar. In the past, they might not have noticed such a situation. Their musical consumption was dominated by the “Top-40” artists. However, AI generated playlists have changed this, since a wider range of music is available. Furthermore, if they think their AI influenced playlists are unappealing, they still have the ability to search for new music just because AI doesn’t prevent them researching and discovering music on their own. Anything that exists, they can find. The store is always open. As young people transition (过渡) from childhood to adulthood with various styles of music, two seemingly opposing processes become vital — forming a unique identity while becoming part of a community. Music listening and preferences play an important role in it and AI generated playlists may have the potential to challenge this transition. Fears of new technologies are common. For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion. Will 50 million Americans ever again watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004? And will AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others? 8. What makes teenagers’ music listening experiences more private? A. The popularization of music education. B. The lack of interaction among teenagers. C. The easy access to musical instruments. D. The widespread use of electronic devices. 9. What can teenagers do with AI generated playlists? A. Explore a wider range online. B. Fill their playlists with similar songs. C. Subscribe to the “Top-40” artists. D. Stop AI tracking their online activities. 10. What challenge may AI generated playlists present? A. They result in the decline of network TV. B. They prevent teens choosing popular songs. C. They make identifying oneself impossible. D. They provide less for teens to communicate. 11. Why does the author mention Friends in the last paragraph? A. To show the potential social influence of AI. B. To tell us the significance of new technology. C. To explain people’s willingness to accept AI. D. To emphasize its popularity among Americans. D 9. A 10. D 11. 根据第二段“Indeed, listening to music is a deeply private and personal experience nowadays and even more so with the introduction of the iPod and smartphones. (的确,如今聆听音乐已成为一种极为私密且个人化的体验,随着iPod和智能手机的出现,这种体验更是愈发如此。)”可知,电子设备的广泛使用让青少年音乐聆听体验更私人,故选D。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“However, AI generated playlists have changed this, since a wider range of music is available. (然而,人工智能生成的播放列表改变了这一状况,因为如今可供选择的音乐范围更广了。)”可知,青少年可通过AI生成的播放列表在线探索更广泛的音乐,故选A。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段“For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion. Will 50 million Americans ever again watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004? And will AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others? (例如,定时网络电视的衰落抹去了许多可供讨论的共同话题。还会有5000万美国人像2004年观看《老友记》大结局那样,共同观看某部电视剧的结局吗?人工智能会让我们更容易彰显自我个性,却更难与他人建立情感纽带吗?)”可知,AI生成的播放列表可能减少青少年可交流的内容,故选D。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“For example, the decline of scheduled network TV erased lots of common ground for discussion. Will 50 million Americans ever again watch the series ending of a TV show, as they did for Friends in 2004? And will AI make it easier to differentiate the self, but harder to bond with others? (例如,定时网络电视的衰落抹去了许多可供讨论的共同话题。还会有5000万美国人像2004年观看《老友记》大结局那样,共同观看某部电视剧的结局吗?人工智能会让我们更容易彰显自我个性,却更难与他人建立情感纽带吗?)”可知,作者提到《老友记》是为了展示AI潜在的社会影响,故选A。 D A ship that’s been frozen into the Arctic ice for the last year has finally returned home. After nearly 13 months, the researchers have gathered more detailed information on the Arctic than ever before. Much of the news is troubling. The German ship RV Polarstern is normally designed to break a passage through ice. But last September, the ship set sail from Norway with the goal of getting frozen into the Arctic ice cap for a year. The mission was part of a $155 million project known as MOSAiC, whose goal is to learn more about the ice that forms near the North Pole and how it’s affected by climate change. By last October, the ship had been frozen into the Arctic ice north of Siberia. Over the next year, more than 300 scientists from 20 different countries spent time on the boat, doing long-term research on the ice, over the ice, and under the ice. The boat held about 100 scientists and other workers at a time. The plan was for members of the team to be exchanged regularly. The project leaders knew there would be many challenges related to the extreme cold, the ice, and even polar bears. But the team hadn’t planned on the coronavirus, which, for a time, made it impossible to swap out team members. That was one time the isolation helped, though, since the people on the Polarstern didn’t have to worry about catching the virus. At the end of July, the team collected all of their gear from the ice, just before the ice was frozen. In September, the boat left the ice cap, finally returning to Germany on Monday. However, the news that the researchers bring back isn’t good. 12. What’s the aim to build RV Polarstern? A To break up ice. B. To transport passengers. C. To study MOSAiC. D. To do research in Arctic. 13. Why were the figures mentioned in Paragraph 3? A. More scientists took part. B. Scientists got on well with each other. C. The research turned out to be complex. D. International cooperation has been adopted. 14. What does the underlined word “isolation” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. Challenge. B. Separation. C. Relaxation. D. Determination. 15. What’s the best title for the text? A. Polarstern Drew Attention Once Again B. Polarstern Returns After a Year in the Arctic C. Polarstern Ends One-year Research Completely D. Polarstern Gathers More Detailed Information 【答案】12. A 13. D 14. B 15. 根据第二段中“The mission was part of a $155 million project known as MOSAiC, whose goal is to learn more about the ice that forms near the North Pole and how it’s affected by climate change.(这项任务是一个名为“MOSAiC”的项目的一部分,该项目耗资1.55亿美元,目标是更多地了解北极附近形成的冰,以及它是如何受到气候变化的影响)”可知,建造RV Polarstern的目的是为了破冰。故选A。 根据第三段“By last October, the ship had been frozen into the Arctic ice north of Siberia. Over the next year, more than 300 scientists from 20 different countries spent time on the boat, doing long-term research on the ice, over the ice, and under the ice. The boat held about 100 scientists and other workers at a time. The plan was for members of the team to be exchanged regularly.(到去年10月,这艘船已经被冻结在西伯利亚北部的北极冰层中。在接下来的一年里,来自20个不同国家的300多名科学家花时间在船上,在冰面上、冰面上方和冰面下进行长期研究。这艘船一次能载大约100名科学家和其他工作人员。计划是定期交换队员)”可推知,第三段提到这些数字是为了说明采用了国际合作的形式。故选D。 【14题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词后文“since the people on the Polarstern didn’t have to worry about catching the virus.” Challenge.挑战;B. Separation.隔离;C. Relaxation.放松;D. Determination. 根据第一段中“A ship that’s been frozen into the Arctic ice for the last year has finally returned home. After nearly 13 months, the researchers have gathered more detailed information on the Arctic than ever before.(一艘去年被冻在北极冰层里的船终于回家了。 Are you new to experiencing relationships? We went on a two-week trip to the countryside where my mother had grown up. I was excited because I couldn’t wait to see my grandparents. The last time I had visited them was when I was only three years old. I also wished to go sightseeing, ride elephants, and do many more things there. They must be very wonderful. With great wishes, we arrived at my grandparents’ house in the countryside. During the first several days, I stayed in their house for fun. But soon, I got bored. I wondered what adventures were in store for me. One morning I said to my mom, “I really want to go outside to play.” My mom replied, “Stephanie, today we’re going to a school. The children there are studying in poor conditions. I decided to use some of my own money to buy some school supplies (日用品) for them.” Hearing that, I was a bit unhappy. “We can go out and play another day. Today we need to spend a little time helping these poor children,” Mom added. I had no choice but to agree. A few minutes later, my mom drove me to the school. On the way, she said, “We’d first visit the school to know what kind of things these children want most. Then we’ll try to buy them.” I thought to myself: what a vacation I am having! I come here to go sightseeing, not do charity (慈善)work. When we reached the school, I just couldn’t believe my eyes. There was only one small building, which looked as if it were a hundred years old. There was no playground, no parking lot... It was so small; the school I went to back home was a million times bigger. How unlucky the children here were! We met a teacher in the school, and my mom told him the purpose of our visit. The teacher was very glad and thanked us. Paragraph1: Then the teacher guided us into a classroom. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Holding the shopping list, my mom and I headed for a store. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Paragraph 1: Then the teacher guided us into a classroom. I found there were about twenty children. Their clothes were worn out; their school bags were just plastic ones. Immediately I felt sorry for them. The teacher introduced us and told them why we came here. Hearing that, all the children were excited, and told us the things they had wanted for long, such as picture books, new pencils and so on. My mom made a list of these things. Paragraph 2 Holding the shopping list, my mom and I headed for a store. There I helped my mom pick up the things on the list. And I decided to buy something for the children using my own pocket money. My mom praised me for it. Then I added some candies to our supplies. These children were so glad and they thanked us when receiving the gifts. Some of them started reading the picture books and sharing the candies right away. That day, I learned doing something meaningful for others could also be a wonderful thing. 词汇激活 行类 介绍:introduce/present 告诉我们:tell us/inform us 表扬:praise/compliment 情绪类 感到抱歉:feel sorry/feel sad 激动的:be excited /be thrilled 【点睛】【高分句型1】Hearing that, all the children were excited, and told us the things they had wanted for long, such as picture books, new pencils and so on.(运用了省略关系代词的定语从句) 【高分句型2】That day, I learned doing something meaningful for others could also be a wonderful thing.(运用了省略连词的宾语从句和动名词作主语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 襄阳四中2024级高二上学期12月月考 英语试题 ★祝考试顺利★ 注意事项: 1. 1.How did the woman feel during the first two days in Thailand? B Eugene Newman Parker, a leading figure in heliospheric (日球层的) physics for the past half century, passed away peacefully at his home in Chicago on March 15. C For years, we’ve been teaching a class on music and the mind. B The lack of interaction among teenagers. D A ship that’s been frozen into the Arctic ice for the last year has finally returned home. A. To break up ice. B. To transport passengers. C. To study MOSAiC. D. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
