Unit12 单元整体设计
单元内容分析
本单元以“难以预料的事情”为话题,Section A涉及以下两个主要的语言项目:了解过去完成时态描述过去某一时间或动作之前已经发生或完成了的动作;运用一般过去时态描述过去某个时间里发生的动作或存在的状态。Section A 部分的教学重点是让学生能够用适当的时态叙述过去发生的事,特别是意想不到的事件。Section B部分依旧围绕“让人出乎意料的事件”这一话题展开,内容从学生的生活琐事、意外事故过渡到生活中出其不意的玩笑。学习难点是能够在笔头输出中熟练运用两种时态。本单元旨在通过对过去事件的描述,强化学生语言输入,提高语言使用能力,并在学习中,逐步形成辩证看待事物的思维能力。
单元学情分析
本单元话题中所涉及的一些学生的生活琐事中意想不到的事件,如:睡过头、错过校车、把作业落在家,是学生所经历过的事情,能吸引学生注意力,激发学生分享欲;而话题中的意外事故和生活中出其不意的玩笑是学生未经历过的,但是想要探知和了解跟多的事情,易于激发学生的探索欲。九年级学生此阶段也已经具备相关表达,教师只需在此基础上加以引导,给予适当的学习策略,帮助学生达成单元学习目标。
单元教学目标
1. 学习使用“Unexpected events” 话题相关的单词及短语,能够正确运用此话题的目标语言进行初步表达。
2. 能够就“Unexpected events” 这一话题与同伴进行交流会话,谈论发生在过去的事情,增强初步叙述事件能力。
3. 运用不同的阅读策略阅读文本材料Life is full of the unexpected. 完成相应的阅读任务,提高阅读有效性。
4. 通过谈论发生的事情,培养学生对发生事情进行辩证看待的能力,增强学生自主解决问题的能力。
5. 区分过去时和过去完成时态。
6. 理解、掌握和运用关于愚人节和描述事件发生的生词和短语,理解、掌握和运用过去完成时。
7. 从文化差异的角度体验,理解愚人节等西方国家传统节日,进行有效沟通和交流。
8. 能够运用书面语言书写自己曾经经历过的事情。
单元教学重难点
1. 掌握过去完成时的基本用法,正确运用when, before, as, by the time, 引导的时间状语从句表示过去发生的事情。
2. 运用不同的阅读策略阅读文本材料Life is full of the unexpected. 完成相应的阅读任务,提高阅读有效性

教学过程
StepⅠ Pre-reading
1. Look and say. Watch a video and answer the question: What happened between the two people?
2. Let’s talk. T: What unexpected things do you know? Show students some pictures. Then let student think about the question: Do you think it is a good thing or bad thing?
T: Some think it is a good thing, others believe it is a bad thing, but sometimes we can change the bad thing into a good thing.
StepⅡ While-reading
Fast reading
1. Look and predict. T: What can you see from the picture?
What can you know from the title and the picture?
2. Read and answer. Which two events does the writer mention?
Careful reading
🔹The September 11 attack in New York
1. Let’s watch. Show students a video to introduce the background information.
2. Read and ask. Students will Try to ask questions by using the key words: where, how, what feelings, and answer them.
学法指导:Reading tips: We can ask What, when, where, how and what feelings to get basic information.
🔹The earthquake in New Zealand
1. Let’s talk. Let student introduce the information they’ve known about the earthquake in New Zealand.
2. Read and rank. Read paragraph 2 and make the sentences in correct order. And student will list the expressions of time.
学法指导:We can narrate the events in time sequence.
3. Read and think. T: How did the writer end up missing both events?
Do you think it is lucky or unlucky? Students will show their opinions.
Step Ⅲ After-reading
1. Let’s discuss. Have you ever experienced something unexpected? What would you do/feel? Students will discuss it with partner and share their experiences.
2. Further thinking. T: How can we turn a bad thing into a good thing? Let students think and hold the right attitude towards the bad thing.
S: We should keep it together first, be positive, cherish our life and face the unexpected with equanimity.

1. Have a brief summary.
2. Homework
(1) Try to retell the passage by using the following expressions or the mind map. Stare in disbelief, take off unexpected burn above alive till or until arrive at be about to even though.
(2) Write down the unexpected things you have experienced, try to use the words and phrases we've learned as many as possible.
