Planning Your Trip Best Time to Visit: While almost every month of the year has its own appeal, the best time to visit Copenhagen is May through September. One of Copenhagen’s most attractive parts is that even during the peak months of July and August, the city is never crowded with people but full of life and energy. Getting Around: Biking is by far the most common way to get around the flat streets of Copenhagen. Download a bike-share app or rent a bike from your hotel. The driverless, eco-friendly Metro, buses and water buses cover most of the city. Travel Tip: If you have data, pre-load your phone with a few key apps, like Donkey Republic for quick bike rentals and Mobilbilletter for buying tickets for public transportation. Things to Do Copenhagen’s museums cover everything from ancient Vikings to Andy Warhol and are a draw for many visitors. Shopping trips, canal tours and lunches around town fill the days while top tables, excellent cocktails and live music occupy the nights. Culture and Customs The Danes (丹麦人) are polite and value arriving on time (Seriously, don’t be late for dinner reservations!), but they are not overly warm to people outside of their tight-knit groups of friends. Unless you’re at a five-star restaurant expect to flag down a member of the waitstaff at least once, and they almost certainly won’t stop by to make sure you’re enjoying your meal. If you’d like another glass of wine or to order something else, don’t be shy. Tipping is not expected. 1. When is the best time to visit Copenhagen? A. April. B. June. C. October. D. December. 2. What can people do on Mobilbilletter? A. Buy bus tickets. B. Rent bikes. C. Listen to music. D. Order meals. 3. What can be learnt about the Danes? A. They always tip the waiters. B. They are overly warm to strangers. C. They often behave impolitely. D. They often arrive on time for a meeting. B 2. A 3. 根据Planning Your Trip部分“Best Time to Visit: While almost every month of the year has its own appeal, the best time to visit Copenhagen is May through September.(最佳游览时间:尽管一年中的几乎每个月都有其独特的魅力,但游览哥本哈根的最佳时间是五月到九月)”可知,去哥本哈根旅游最好的时间是从5月到9月。 根据Planning Your Trip部分第三段“Travel Tip: If you have data, pre-load your phone with a few key apps, like Donkey Republic for quick bike rentals and Mobilbilletter for buying tickets for public transportation.(旅行贴士:如果你有相关数据,可以提前在手机上预装一些常用的应用程序,比如Donkey Republic用于快速租用自行车,以及Mobilbilletter购买公共交通工具的车票)”可知,人们可以在 Mobilbilletter上买公交车车票。故选A。 根据Culture and Customs部分“The Danes (丹麦人) are polite and value arriving on time (Seriously, don’t be late for dinner reservations!), but they are not overly warm to people outside of their tight-knit groups of friends.(丹麦人很礼貌,也非常重视按时赴约(说真的,千万不要错过晚餐预订的时间!),但他们对身边之外的人则不太热情。他们圈子比较小,只与自己亲密的朋友交往)”可推断,丹麦人见面通常会准时到达。故选D。 B When I was a child in Montreal, the encyclopedia (百科全书) was the main way to get knowledge. I once wrote a report about snakes with the help of Encyclopedia Britannica. From it, I learned that the king cobra lives about 20 years and that its enemy is the mongoose. The pictures of those snakes are still clear in my memory. My dream at that time was to own a set of Britannica, though it seemed impossible with my pocket money. Years later, in the 1980s, I finally had enough money. Wanting my children to enjoy what I had missed, I spent more than $2,000 on a complete Britannica. The day it arrived, I felt like I had won a great prize. I proudly placed the thirty volumes (册) on the shelf and opened them happily. At last, the knowledge I had longed for was mine. But time changes everything. With the rise of the Internet, Britannica became unnecessary. As I began to downsize, I tried to pass the books to my grown children. They laughed and refused, comparing them to the old telephone booths (电话亭). Then, I got in touch with some charities They showed no interest in them, either. Sadly, I threw part of my childhood dream into the waste container. Watching those heavy books disappear made me sad. Today, knowledge is at our fingertips through Google and other online tools. Yet when I found my old World Book, Bananas to Brains, I kept it. Torn and faded, it makes me remember the days when knowledge was hard to get, valuable, and deeply loved. 4. Why did the author buy Britannica in the 1980s? A. To meet her children’s needs. B. To add to her collection. C. To encourage her children to read books. D. To realize her childhood dream. 5. What did the author’s children think of Britannica? A. Costly. B. Difficult. C. Useless. D. Valuable. 6. What did the author do with her Britannica set in the end? A. She sold it at a low price. B. She gave it to charities. C. She threw it away sadly. D. She passed it down to her children. 7. What would be a suitable title for the text? A. The End of a Knowledge Time B. The History of the Encyclopedia C. Education in the Internet Age D. A Treasure Saved from Waste 【答案】4. D 5. C 6. C 7. 根据第一段中“My dream at that time was to own a set of Britannica, though it seemed impossible with my pocket money.(那时我的梦想是拥有一套《大英百科全书》,但靠我的零花钱,这似乎遥不可及。)”以及第二段中“Years later, in the 1980s, I finally had enough money. Wanting my children to enjoy what I had missed, I spent more than $2,000 on a complete Britannica.(多年后,在20世纪80年代,我终于有了足够的钱。为了让我的孩子们享受我所错过的,我花了2000多美元买了一套完整的《大英百科全书》。)”可知,作者在20世纪80年代买《大英百科全书》是为了实现她儿时的梦想。故选D。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“With the rise of the Internet, Britannica became unnecessary. As I began to downsize, I tried to pass the books to my grown children. They laughed and refused, comparing them to the old telephone booths (电话亭).(随着互联网兴起,《大英百科全书》变得不再必要。后来我开始整理物品、精简家当,便想把这些书传给已经成年的孩子们。他们笑着拒绝了,还把这些书比作老旧的电话亭。)”可知,作者的孩子认为《大英百科全书》是没用的。故选C。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中“Sadly, I threw part of my childhood dream into the waste container.(无奈之下,我把童年梦想的一部分扔进了垃圾箱。)” 通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“When I was a child in Montreal, the encyclopedia was the main way to get knowledge.(当我还是个孩子时候,在蒙特利尔,百科全书是获取知识的主要途径。)”、第四段中“Sadly, I threw part of my childhood dream into the waste container.(无奈之下,我把童年梦想的一部分扔进了垃圾箱。)” 可知,A选项“The End of a Knowledge Time(一个知识时代的终结)”最符合文章标题。故选A。 C What will astronauts wear in 50 years? A brand-new spacesuit is being developed. Called the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EEMU), the spacesuit protects astronauts from the tough environment of the lunar surface, which is different from that astronauts have been exploring in low Earth orbit. Progress on the suit has been overshadowed “The EEMU represents the first new spacesuit NASA has developed in over 40 years,” George Nield, the associate administrator for commercial space transportation at the Federal Aviation Administration, said. “So far, it looks like things are on schedule.” Nield outlined the agency’s plan to build five EEMU suits. One for design tests is almost done and should be completed in December. A second will be built for qualification testing and a third will be tested in orbit on the International Space Station. The final two will walk on the moon in 2024 on a mission called Artemis 3. In addition to the main spacesuits, each astronaut will also require an internal cooling garment (衣服), and NASA has now completed the first prototype of that undergarment. The agency also needs to update the backpack-like Portable Life Support System that astronauts carry to stay alive. Meanwhile, NASA got a sense of how the new suit will perform on the moon by testing the design underwater. Underwater, astronauts can get a feel for moving around in a spacesuit and using the tools they will operate during a spacewalk. Lately, NASA has been using the pool to study movements like collecting moon rock and dust, navigating a ladder and planting a flag on the lunar surface. 8. What is the text mainly about? A. What people will wear in the future. B. How astronauts will walk on the moon. C. NASA is developing a new spacesuit. D. A spaceship will soon be sent to the moon. 9. What will the second suit be used for? A. Design tests. B. Qualification testing. C. Walking on the moon. D. Tests on the International Space Station. 10. What does the underlined word “update” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. Improve. B. Invent. C. Choose. D. Design. 11. Why did scientists test the spacesuit underwater? A. Because the spacesuit would feel lighter. B. Because the result was clear to observe. C. Because it was easy to carry out the tests. D. Because it gave astronauts a feel of walking in a spacesuit. C 9. B 10. A 11. 通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“A brand-new spacesuit is being developed. Called the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EEMU), the spacesuit protects astronauts from the tough environment of the lunar surface, which is different from that astronauts have been exploring in low Earth orbit.(一种全新的宇航服正在开发中。这种宇航服被称为探索舱外活动单元(EEMU),它可以保护宇航员免受月球表面恶劣环境的伤害,这与宇航员在近地轨道探索的环境不同。)”可知,本文主要介绍了美国宇航局正在开发一种新的宇航服。故选C。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“A second will be built for qualification testing and a third will be tested in orbit on the International Space Station.(第二套将用于资格测试,第三套将在国际空间站的轨道上进行测试。)” 根据第四段“In addition to the main spacesuits, each astronaut will also require an internal cooling garment (衣服), and NASA has now completed the first prototype of that undergarment. The agency also needs to update the backpack-like Portable Life Support System that astronauts carry to stay alive.(除了主要的宇航服外,每位宇航员还需要一件内部冷却服,美国宇航局现已完成了这款内衣的第一个原型。该机构还需要update宇航员携带的类似背包的便携式生命维持系统,以维持生命。)”可知,研发了新的宇航服,美国宇航局还需要改进宇航员携带的类似背包的便携式生命维持系统,以适配新型航天服。所以update的意思是“改进”。A. Improve改进;B. Invent发明;C. Choose选择;D. Design设计。故选A。 根据最后一段中“Meanwhile, NASA got a sense of how the new suit will perform on the moon by testing the design underwater. Underwater, astronauts can get a feel for moving around in a spacesuit and using the tools they will operate during a spacewalk.(与此同时,美国宇航局通过在水下测试设计,了解了新宇航服在月球上的表现。在水下,宇航员可以感受穿着宇航服四处走动以及使用他们在太空行走时将要操作的工具的感觉。)”可知,科学家在水下测试宇航服是因为它能让宇航员感受到穿着宇航服行走的感觉。故选D。 D Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. It does, however, have its own problem. Race walkers are conditioned athletes. The longest track and field event at the Summer Olympics is the 50-kilometer race walk, which is about five miles longer than the marathon. But the sport’s rules require that a race walker’s knees stay straight through most of the leg swing and one foot remain in contact with the ground at all times. It’s this strange form that makes race walking such an attractive activity, however, says Jaclyn Norberg, an assistant professor of exercise science at Salem State University in Salem, Mass. Like running, race walking is physically demanding, she says. According to most calculations, race walkers moving at a pace of six miles per hour would burn about 800 calories per hour, which is approximately twice as many as they would burn walking, although fewer than running, which would probably burn about 1, 0000 or more calories per hour. However, race walking does not pound the body as much as running does, Dr. Norberg says. According to her research, runners hit the ground with as much as four times their body weight per step, while race walkers, who do not leave the ground, create only about 1. 4 times their body weight with each step. As a result, she says, some of the injuries associated with running, such as runner’s knee, are uncommon among race walkers. But the sport’s strange form does place considerable stress on the ankles and hips, so people with a history of such injuries might want to be cautious in adopting the sport. In fact, anyone wishing to try race walking should probably first consult a coach or experienced racer to learn proper technique, she says. It takes some practice. 12. Why are race walkers conditioned athletes? A. They must run long distances. B. They have to follow special rules. C. They are qualified for the marathon. D. They are good at swinging their legs. 13. What advantage does race walking have over running? A. It’s more popular at the Olympics. B. It’s more effective in body building. C. It’s less challenging physically. D. It’s less likely to cause knee injuries. 14. What is Dr-Norberg’s suggestion for someone trying race walking? A. Getting experts’ opinions. B. Having a medical checkup. C. Hiring an experienced coach. D. Doing regular exercises. 15. Which word best describes the author’s attitude to race walking? A. Supportive. B. Objective. C. doubtful. D. Conservative. B 13. D 14. A 15. 根据第二段“Race walkers are conditioned athletes. The longest track and field event at the Summer Olympics is the 50-kilometer race walk, which is about five miles longer than the marathon. But the sport’s rules require that a race walker’s knees stay straight through most of the leg swing and one foot remain in contact with the ground at all times.(竞走运动员是经过专业训练的运动员。夏季奥运会田径项目中距离最长的是50公里竞走,这一距离比马拉松还要长约5英里。但该项目的规则有明确要求:竞走运动员在腿部摆动的大部分过程中,膝盖必须保持伸直,且始终有一只脚与地面接触。)”可知,竞走运动员之所以有条件要求是因为运动员需要遵守某些特殊的运动规则。故选B项。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“As a result, she says, some of the injuries associated with running, such as runner’s knee, are uncommon among race walkers. (她说,因此,一些与跑步相关损伤,比如跑步者膝,在竞走运动员中并不常见。)”可知,竞走相比跑步的优势是不太可能导致膝盖损伤。故选D项。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“In fact, anyone wishing to try race walking should probably first consult a coach or experienced racer to learn proper technique, she says. (她说,事实上,任何想尝试竞走的人都应该首先咨询教练或有经验的竞走运动员,以学习正确的技巧。)”可知,Norberg博士建议想尝试竞走的人征求专家(教练或有经验的运动员)的意见。故选A项。 通读全文特别是第一段“Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. It does, however, have its own problem.(研究表明,竞走和跑步一样能带来诸多健身益处,且引发运动损伤的可能性很可能更低。 Floods can cause major damage to city infrastructure (基础设施) and even deaths. ___16___, damages caused by floods can be prevented through taking proper measures. Our parents thought we were lucky to have an Olympic-size swimming pool at the school. My mom stressed that the swimming pool was one of the best in our city. But I didn’t feel happy about it at all. Instead, I felt afraid of the swimming pool. It was mainly because I was terribly shy. I was so shy that I always sat at the back of the room in class so I’d not be called upon to read. As for the present physical education class each Monday morning I would work my way to the back of the line forming at the diving board so I would not have to practice the dives. Now, it was another Monday morning - the morning of our diving test. My blood ran cold when the teacher Ms. Robbins announced that we would be graded for our final on the most difficult dive- the jackknife. And she added, “This diving test is important. The one who fails has to spare time in the following Monday mornings to practice diving in this swimming pool and attend this test again.” My body kept shaking with fear as the line to the scary diving board shortened. As I watched, each student seemed to perform the challenging dive effortlessly. And shortly I would have to attempt something that I had never even practiced before. Then I remembered someone telling me that when you picture yourself doing a skill over and over, it’s just as effective as physically practicing that skill. So I watched carefully as each classmate jumped at the end of the board once, added a jump for height, folded their body in half to reach for their toes, and finally straightened out like an arrow for going into the water. After carefully watching for a while, I was actually in a state of surprise, because all of a sudden I realized that it was possible for me to perform these four steps of diving. Eventually all classmates except me finished jumping. The teacher announced that it was my turn. With my heart knocking wildly I walked down the diving board towards its end. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end. Looking down, I found all my classmates were looking up at me. My face suddenly felt hot. Finally, I ignored them. Picturing the four steps of diving, I jumped. Then I folded my body but failed to reach for my toes. And instead of entering the water like an arrow, I fell into the water, with my body being flat. As a result, it caused a huge sound, which made all the classmates burst out laughing. Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. After class, Ms. Robbins comforted and encouraged me. In the following many Monday mornings, I practiced again and again under her guidance. Gradually, I became more confident and less shy. Finally, I attended the diving test again and performed well. This time, my classmates cheered and clapped. I was so glad. I knew my success resulted from my beating my shyness and my hard practice. 词汇激活 行为类 未能:fail to/be unable to 导致:cause/lead to 参加:attend /take part in 情绪类 尴尬:embarrassed / abashed 高兴:glad /delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1] Looking down, I found all my classmates were looking up at me. Unless you’re at a five-star restaurant, expect to flag down a member of the waitstaff at least once, and they almost certainly won’t stop by to make sure you’re enjoying your meal. If you’d like another glass of wine or to order something else, don’t be shy. Tipping is not expected. 1. When is the best time to visit Copenhagen? A. April. B. June. C. October. D. December. 2. What can people do on Mobilbilletter? A. Buy bus tickets. B. Rent bikes. C. Listen to music. D. Order meals. 3. What can be learnt about the Danes? A. They always tip the waiters. B. B When I was a child in Montreal, the encyclopedia (百科全书) was the main way to get knowledge. 4 Why did the author buy Britannica in the 1980s? A Treasure Saved from Waste C What will astronauts wear in 50 years? A brand-new spacesuit is being developed. Called the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EEMU), the spacesuit protects astronauts from the tough environment of the lunar surface, which is different from that astronauts have been exploring in low Earth orbit. Progress on the suit has been overshadowed “The EEMU represents the first new spacesuit NASA has developed in over 40 years,” George Nield, the associate administrator for commercial space transportation at the Federal Aviation Administration, said. “So far, it looks like things are on schedule.” Nield outlined the agency’s plan to build five EEMU suits One for design tests is almost done and should be completed in December. D Race walking shares many fitness benefits with running, research shows, while most likely contributing to fewer injuries. Floods can cause major damage to city infrastructure (基础设施) and even deaths. As for the present physical education class each Monday morning, I would work my way to the back of the line forming at the diving board so I would not have to practice the dives. Eventually all classmates except me finished jumping The teacher announced that it was my turn. With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
