Bridges help people travel across rivers and deep valleys (山谷) more easily, helping connect different places together. Unluckily, in some situations, building a bridge is not an easy job. For example, marshland (沼泽地) around the lake makes it difficult to build a bridge strong enough for high speed trains. At the same time, bridges sometimes do harm to the wildlife living there. The Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge sets a great example for solving these problems in a scientific way.
The Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge is the longest bridge in the world. It started building in 2008 and opened in 2011.The bridge forms part of China’s high-speed railway network which makes travel faster. Before, a trip from Beijing to Shanghai took 12 hours, but now with this bridge, it only takes 4.5 hours.
1. When did the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge open?
A. In 2008.
B. In 2009.
C. In 2010.

Three hundred years ago, traders from Shanxi Province sold tea to foreign countries and in turn they brought back the secrets of how to make glassware
Luo Qinqin, a 40-year-old native of Qixian City in Shanxi, is a skilled glassworker. She is one of the few women glassworkers who have mastered the skill of glass pulling.
In a workshop in Qixian, where glassware is handmade with the help of blowpipes (吹管), Luo and her workmates are always busy working. Every day, Luo works in the workshop where the temperature is over 40℃, often making her clothes wet. She has to push and pull a 1.5-meter, 1-kilogram blowpipe 5,000 to 6,000 times.” I often get burned by the hot blowpipe and have got hurt many times.” Luo said. However, she never gives up. After practicing for thousands of times, Luo won first place in the glass pulling competition in Qixian in 2013.
The glass-pulling process, the most important step in the handmade glassware, is challenging because it’s difficult to control length and thickness. For example, when making a wineglass stem (酒杯柄), the length must be controlled within 0.2 mm, and the thickness within 0.5 mm. Luo can make it both within 0.2 mm. “I really enjoy the process, as each piece of glassware is born in my hands like artwork.” Luo said.
However, Luo is worried about the inheritance of the skill because there are fewer young people in the factories to work on glassware making. So she encouraged more young people to learn about the skills of traditional glass pulling and pass them down. “I want to make our Chinese glassware products better through my efforts, so that our products will go worldwide,” Luo said.
12. Where did traders get the secrets of making glassware?
A. From Shanxi province.
B. From other provinces in China.
C. From foreign countries.
D. From Central Asian countries.
13. What can we learn about Luo Qinqin from the text?
A. She is able to control the thickness within 0.1 mm.
B She works hard to be a skilled glassworker.
C She works in a cool and comfortable workshop.
D. She refuses to teach young people glass pulling.
14. The underlined word “inheritance” probably means “________”.
15. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. The introduction of Luo Qinqin and glassware making.
B. The process of making glassware by hand in Qixian.
C The history of glassware making in Shanxi Province.
D. The popularity of Chinese glassware made by Luo Qinqin.

根据“Deep down in the sea, there’s little light and it’s too dark for the whales to see food. Instead, they hear food by using a natural process called echolocation
根据“That’s man-made plastic rubbish which has a similar echo as your food. Without knowing what terrible things may happen, the whale takes the FOOD as usual.”
根据“He looked around the room and was surprised to find that we cannot live without plastic now. He thought for a long time and decided to do something helpful.”

The glass-pulling process, the most important step in the handmade glassware, is challenging because it’s difficult to control length and thickness. For example, when making a wineglass stem (酒杯柄), the length must be controlled within 0.2 mm, and the thickness within 0.5 mm.
