I started by studying creative people like artists because they devoted their lives to doing what they wanted to, rather than things that brought them money. Later, I invented a study method. Ordinary people were asked to keep an electronic machine for a week, which gave out a sound eight times a day. Every time I did so, they wrote down where they were, what they were doing, how they felt and how much they were concentrating. I found that, as with creative people, ordinary people are happiest when concentrating hard, so the most obvious cause of happiness is concentration. I have spent my life in studying happiness, and my belief that I have found the key to its secret has increased my happiness greatly. I am Rachel from the university of chicago. Though public access is restricted when the king is in the palace, the throne room and guest rooms are open to tours only during the summer. All year round, visitors can explore the world-class art of the Royal Collection in the Queen’s Gallery and the Mews’ various royal carriages and cars. And the much-photographed Changing of the Guard ceremony is not to be missed. Kensington Palace Purchased and expanded by William and Mary in the late 1600s, Kensington was a favoured residence of the kings or queens for several decades in London. Though the rooms had fallen into disrepair by the late 1800s, Queen Victoria — who was born there — refurnished and reopened it as both royal apartments and a museum. Today, visitors can enjoy that same museum or tour the rooms and gardens. Sandringham House Located 109 miles outside London, Sandringham House has been a beloved holiday home for the royal family since King George V. It even has its own time — Sandringham Time — with clocks set half an hour ahead of Universal Time to provide more daylight for hunting. Palace of Holyroodhouse This palace is the kings’ or queens’ official residence in Scotland. The palace is as luxury as you might expect. However, it’s in Mary, Queen of Scots’ bedroom — the oldest part of the palace — that the sense of history is most obvious. You’ll likely have to lower your head to get through the doorway, just as Mary would have — although people in the 16th century were generally smaller than today, she stood at almost 6ft tall. 21.What may visitors do in Buckingham Palace in the autumn? A.Stay at the guest rooms. B.Have a look at Queen Mary’s bedroom. C.Pay a visit to the throne room. D.See the Changing of the Guard ceremony. 22.Who was born in Kensington Palace? A.King William. B.Queen Victoria. C.King George V. D.Queen Mary. 23.What do the last two palaces have in common? A.They have very short doorways. B.They have their own time. C.They are not in downtown London. They were participants in the Young Explorer Program, a program designed to bring international members of Gen Z to China and introduce them to Shanghai. The program offers overseas youth the opportunity to experience Chinese culture firsthand and foster people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding. Twenty-two young people from different cultural backgrounds took part in the immersive journey. Their route included guided city walks and visits to companies in the city, offering a deep dive into Shanghai’s society and culture. The group explored museums and heritage sites to learn about the city’s history, visited iconic tourist attractions to experience its modern vibe, engaged with traditional Chinese culture in local communities, and discovered thriving business hubs and revitalized (焕发活力的) historic neighborhoods. All participants described the trip as both enjoyable and rewarding. During the trip, they were particularly impressed by Shanghai’s diversity — describing the city as “cosmopolitan (国际性的)” and “dynamic”. “I was coming to Shanghai with the impression that it’s like a city of the future, and so far, I feel like I’m seeing it for real,” said Lopez. “I think Shanghai is a city made for everyone. I’ve seen people from all over the world here, and you can find whatever you need. It has so much to offer to make whoever comes feel comfortable.” “Another thing that surprised me is that Shanghai has a lot of nature, and it is so green,” Lopez added. “It’s the perfect mix between society and nature, and it’s a city that’s growing every day. So, for me it was quite shocking because I think when cities expand, they tend to just get rid of the trees and nature.” 24.What does the underlined phrase “wrapped up” in the first paragraph mean? A.Ended successfully. B.Packed carefully. C.Covered completely. D.Celebrated joyfully. 25.What is the Young Explorer Program for? A.Training Gen Z in global business. B.Exploring Shanghai’s natural scenery. C.Recruiting overseas talents for Shanghai. D.Promoting cultural exchange with China. 26.What did the participants do during the immersive journey? A.They visited some business areas in rural Shanghai. B.They stayed in local communities to start business hubs. C.They visited iconic tourist attractions to understand the city’s cultural roots. D.They learned about Shanghai’s historical past through museums and heritage sites. 27.Which words can best describe Lopez’s impression of modern Shanghai? A.Artificial and diverse. B.Young and dynamic. C.Inclusive and green. D.Shocking and luxury. 根据第一段“Amalia Garcia Lopez and Carlos Lafuente Picazo, two final-year university students from Spain, have just wrapped up a nine-day trip to Shanghai — a city they might one day consider calling home.(来自西班牙的两名大四学生Amalia Garcia Lopez和Carlos Lafuente Picazo刚刚wrapped up了为期九天的上海之旅——这座城市或许有一天会成为他们想要称之为家的地方。)”以及后文对此次旅行的介绍可知,两位西班牙学生刚结束了在上海的九天旅行,“wrapped up”在此处表示“成功结束”。故选A。 25.细节理解题。根据第二段“The program offers overseas youth the opportunity to experience Chinese culture firsthand and foster people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding.(该计划为海外青年提供了亲身体验中国文化的机会,并促进人文交流与相互理解。)”可知,“青年探索者计划”旨在推动与中国的文化交流。故选D。 26.细节理解题。根据第三段“The group explored museums and heritage sites to learn about the city’s history, visited iconic tourist attractions to experience its modern vibe, engaged with traditional Chinese culture in local communities, and discovered thriving business hubs and revitalized historic neighborhoods.(这群人探索博物馆和文化遗产地以了解这座城市的历史,参观标志性旅游景点以感受其现代氛围,在当地社区体验中国传统文化,还探访了繁荣的商业中心和重焕生机的历史街区。)”可知,参与者通过参观博物馆和文化遗产地来了解上海的历史。故选D。 27.推理判断题。根据第五段“I think Shanghai is a city made for everyone. I’ve seen people from all over the world here, and you can find whatever you need. It has so much to offer to make whoever comes feel comfortable.(我认为上海是一座适合所有人的城市。我在这里看到了来自世界各地的人,你能找到任何你需要的东西。它能提供很多东西,让每个到来的人都感到舒适。)”以及第六段“Another thing that surprised me is that Shanghai has a lot of nature, and it is so green(另一件让我惊讶的事是上海有很多自然景观,绿化非常好)”可知,Lopez认为上海具有包容性且绿化很好。故选C。 C The tiny worm Caenorhabditis elegans has a brain just about the width of a human hair, yet it can coordinate and calculate complex movements as it hunts for food. Daniela Rus, a computer scientist at MIT, was so deeply impressed by the elegance and efficiency of this worm’s brain that she co-founded a company, Liquid AI, to build a new type of artificial intelligence. Many researchers including Rus think making traditional AI more brainlike could create flexible and perhaps smarter technology. “To improve AI truly, we need to absorb insights from neuroscience (神经科学),” says Kanaka Rajan, a computational neuroscientist at Harvard University. Mike Davies, who directs the Neuromorphic Computing Lab, notes such technology won’t fully replace ordinary computers or traditional AI models — instead, many systems will coexist in the future. Imitating brains is not a new idea. In the 1950s, Frank Rosenblatt created the perceptron, a highly simplified model of brain nerve cell communication with a single layer of connected artificial neurons. This basic design later helped inspire deep learning. Yet consuming vast amounts of data and energy, most today’s AI models are unable to adapt easily to new situations or learn from single experiences like a brain, and are criticized as “brute force and inefficient.” Currently, AI development has two paths — “scale-up” vs. “efficiency-focused” — with an uncertain future while brain-inspired neuromorphic computing progress hasn’t joined mainstream AI. Inspired by the worm, Rus worked with Ramin Hasani’s team to create liquid neural networks. Unlike traditional deep learning with fixed post-training settings, these networks are more flexible and can learn like living things. By copying worm neurons with mathematical formulas and solving computing problems, they can work in real time. Tests showed with just 34 artificial neurons a small liquid network worked better than a traditional AI with 250,000 settings in drone tasks. Liquid AI has worked with DARPA to test aircraft models and launched the 7-billion-setting LFM-7B, which performs better than similar traditional language models. Though needing much computing power and not necessarily more energy-saving, liquid neural networks are an important step toward realistic, brain-like AI. As Rus says, “I’m excited about Liquid AI because I believe it could change the future of AI and computing.” 28.What mainly inspired Daniela Rus to establish Liquid AI? A.The limitations of traditional AI models. B.The efficiency of the tiny worm’s brain. C.The worm’s cooperative food-hunting skills. D.The pursuit of more flexible and smarter technology. 29.What does Mike Davies suggest about future AI development? A.Brain-like technology has little practical value. B.Neuromorphic computing will dominate the AI field. C.Different AI systems may work together in the future. D.Traditional AI models will be completely abandoned. 30.What makes liquid neural networks special? A.They have fixed settings after training. B.They depend on few mathematical formulas. C.They work worse than traditional AI in tasks. D.They can learn flexibly like living creatures. 31.What is the main idea of the last paragraph? A.Liquid AI has both limits and value. B.Brain-like AI has been fully achieved. C.Traditional AI is more reliable than liquid AI. For the visually challenged, however, this usually means giving up the commentary (解说) from TV broadcasts and relying on their companions to know what’s going on in the game. Hoping to change the situation, OneCourt has created a clever tactile (触觉的) device, aiming to make the excitement of live sports accessible to all. The device, a tactile display, is designed to sit comfortably on the user’s lap. Its surface is a faithful copy of the game field or court, with the plays being turned into vibrations (震动) that fans can follow with their fingertips. As the ball moves across the court or field, the corresponding vibration on the device also shifts position. Currently, the device supports three popular sports: basketball, football, and baseball, the latter of which was put to the test during the MLB’s 2024 All-Star Weekend, proving its functionality and reliability. OneCourt explains that they collect ball and player positional data tracked at the league level. This data is then translated into a special tactile language, which is presented as trackable vibrations on the device’s surface. Recently, the Portland Trail Blazers became the first NBA team to partner with OneCourt. The device is available at home games at no additional cost. The team welcomed blind Paralympian Anthony S. Ferraro to show the device at work. While using it, the athlete was excited to discover how quickly the players were moving on the court. “This was a life-changing experience, and I can’t wait until devices like this are applied across the board in all sports and events,” Ferraro said. The device is of great help to the visually challenged following a game at home, but it really shines at an in-stadium event, where fans can take in the live game in front of them and feel the energy of like-minded sports fans. 32.Why does the author mention “commentary from TV broadcasts” in paragraph 1? A.To show the awkward situation the visually challenged face. B.To introduce the popularity that TV sports broadcasts enjoy. C.To highlight the role live sports commentary plays in a match. D.To compare different ways that people follow sports games. 33.What is special about the tactile device’s surface design? A.It connects to smartphones for voice guidance. B.It adjusts its shape according to different sports rules. C.It displays real-time player data through visual signals. D.It copies the game field and uses vibrations to present plays. 34.What does the example of MLB’s 2024 All-Star Weekend show? A.The device is adaptable to many sports. B.Baseball enjoys a growing popularity among fans. C.The device is considered both practical and reliable. D.More data support is badly needed from sports leagues. 35.What can be inferred about the tactile device from the last paragraph? A.It requires further development to support more sports. B.It may become more widely used in various sports events. C.It is currently available at most NBA teams’ home games. D.It will soon replace TV commentary for the visually challenged. 根据文章第一段“For sports fans, attending a live match with their favorite team playing is exciting. Mom had insisted I go with her to pick up Dad from work. Across from Dad’s office is a bike store. That was the day my eleven-year-old eyes first saw the purple BMX Mongoose bike. From that day on, all I could think about was that bike. I even drew pictures of the bike in class. Every evening afterward, at five thirty, I eagerly went along with Mom to get Dad. And every day I told my parents, “I want that bike!” But they disagreed and replied that I had already had a perfectly good bike at home. I’d argue it was old and ugly, thinking that my happiness depended on that purple bike. Days later, I found the store had sold that bike. I knew I’d never be happy again. A week later, returning home from school, I tripped over something. Lying in the weeds near a river and some wooded lots, was a bike — the exact bike from the store. “Hey, whose bike is this?” I shouted, scanning the area. No one replied, and there was no one in sight. Maybe its owner didn’t want it any longer. I couldn’t leave it lying in the weeds. So I took it home and hid it behind the garage. Every day after school, I sat there, admiring it. But I didn’t feel like riding and didn’t feel as happy as I had thought. Thinking about the bike made my stomach tighten and uncomfortable. A few days later, during lunch at school, my friend said, “Did you hear about Tyler, in the other fifth-grade class? He lost his new purple BMX Mongoose bike he had just gotten for his birthday. He left it by a river while playing in the woods. It got dark, and he couldn’t find it.” “I’d never go off and leave a new bike like that. He doesn’t deserve to have that bike,” I replied. My friend added, “Kids say he’s nice. And they say Tyler is upset because his dad worked overtime to buy the bike for him.” For the rest of the day, I couldn’t stop thinking about Tyler. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 After school, I returned home and dragged to my room. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “I know Tyler’s house,” Mom said. “I’ll drive you there.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】     After school, I returned home and dragged to my room. The guilt of keeping Tyler's bike hidden behind the garage weighed heavily on me. I couldn't enjoy having the bike while knowing that it rightfully belonged to someone else. I wanted to make things right. So I went to my mother and told her what had happened. My mother smiled and tapped me on the shoulder, gently saying, “I believe you have known what you should do to the bike.”      “I know Tyler’s house,” Mom said. “I’ll drive you there.” My heart raced with a mix of nervousness and determination. I walked up to knock the door. “Hey Tyler, I'm really sorry that I hid it and caused you trouble.” To my great surprise, he did not blame. What I saw was a smile slowly spread across his face. I knew exactly what that smile meant -- forgiveness for me. From that day on, the purple BMX Mongoose bike was no longer important to me. What mattered was the friendship I had formed with Tyler, which also taught me the important values like honesty. 词汇激活 行为类 ①重压:weigh on sb/press on sb ②.拍:tap/pat ③.绽开笑容:a smile spread across one’s face/a smile shines on one’s face 情绪类 ①.愧疚/羞愧:guilt/shame ②.惊讶:surprise/amazement 【点睛】[高分句型1]. D.They are offices for royal. B Amalia Garcia Lopez and Carlos Lafuente Picazo, two final-year university students from Spain, have just wrapped up a nine-day trip to Shanghai — a city they might one day consider calling home. C The tiny worm Caenorhabditis elegans has a brain just about the width of a human hair, yet it can coordinate and calculate complex movements as it hunts for food. D.Liquid AI will definitely control the AI market. D For sports fans, attending a live match with their favorite team playing is exciting. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Your homework habits might be affecting your grades. 36 However, you can change the way you feel by taking better care of your mind and your body. Use a planner. Do you know that poor organization skills can reduce your final scores by a whole letter grade? 37 Who can afford to score a big fat “0” on a paper, just because we get lazy and don’t pay attention to the due date? Nobody wants to get an “F” because of forgetfulness. Communicate with parents. It sounds simple enough, but students don’t always realize how much parents can stress out about this. 38 Whenever parents see a small sign of potential failure, they may be afraid of its potential to become a big failure. 39 Studies show that teens’ natural sleep patterns are different from those of adults. This often causes them to have trouble going to sleep at night, and have trouble waking up in the mornings. You can avoid some of the problems by changing some of your night time habits. Improve your memory. A great way to improve homework habits is to improve your memory with brain exercise. 40 Ancient accounts show that early Greek orators used the “loci” method of remembering long speeches. You may be able to use this method to enhance your memory at test time. A.Get the sleep that you need. B.Parents are concerned about your success. C.Never sleep later than your parents at night. D.There are many ideas about improving memories. E.You may feel bored when it comes to homework time. F.Students often do their homework late at night every day. “I’ll drive you there.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
