When it comes to finding the best airfare deals, advice can be confusing. Some travelers
recommend booking well in advance, while others swear by last-minute deals.Additionally,
opinions differ on which day of the week is best for booking flights and which days are cheapest to
travel.Fortunately,Expedia's 2025 Air Hacks Report provides clear answers to these questions.
.What is the cheapest day to book airline tickets?
When you're ready to purchase airfare for your next trip, set aside time on a Sunday to book.
According to Expedia's 2025 Air Hacks Report, booking on Sundays can save you up to 6%on
domestic flights and up to 17%on international flights compared to bookings made on a Monday or
Friday. This trend has held true for three years in a row.
What are the cheapest days to fly?
The day your flight departs is another important factor in determining the cost of your airfare.
For the cheapest flights, aim to fly on a Thursday or Saturday. If you're flying domestically,
departing on a Saturday instead of a Sunday can save you up to 17%.For international travel,
leaving on a Thursday rather than a Sunday can result in savings of up to 15%.
.How far in advance should you book airline tickets to save money?
Many people assume that the earlier you book your flight, the cheaper your ticket will be.But
that's not the case.In fact, booking an international flight just 18 to 29 days before departure will
save you up to 17%compared to booking three months in advance. The sweet spot for domestic
flights is one to three months before your trip.Booking then can save you 25%compared with
tickets booked at the last minute.
21.How can you save money concerning domestic flights?
A.Booking 18 to 29 days in advance.
B.Flying on Saturdays instead of Sundays.
C.Choosing flights leaving on Sundays.
D.Purchasing tickets on Mondays or Fridays.
22.What is a common misunderstanding about booking flights?
A.Booking early guarantees low prices.
B.Last-minute deals are best choices
C.Weekends are always more expensive.
D.Airfare varies greatly from year to year.
23.What's the text?
A.A social media platform.

On stage,21-year-old Jiang Zhounan brings stories to life, while off stage, she finds joy and
excitement in her own passionate story with a speeding motorcycle.Bomn in 2003,Jiang displays
the elegance of the stage and the freedom of the open road. Her life combines the grace of Yueju
Opera,a traditional style from the Yangtze River Delta which features women playing male roles,
with the thrill of biking.
Her journey into the world of art started with an unexpected moment in her second year of
middle school.During a singing practice,Jiang's clear voice and heartfelt emotion caught her
teacher's attention.Recognizing her talent, the teacher gave her a brochure for the Zhejiang
Vocational Academy of Art,setting her on the path to becoming a Yueju Opera performer.
At the academy,Jiang found a teacher who offered both academic guidance and personal
support, allowing her to fully engage herself in the art form. After graduating in 2022,she joined the
Yueju Opera troupe()at the Nantong Art Theater. There, she specializes in laodan (senior
female roles)and also performs zhengdan (young female roles). Her strong singing and expressive
acting soon made her a star in the troupe.

her career, she encountered a group of female motorcyclists during a rural performance.Their
confident and spirited behavior fascinated her, fueling a passion for the speed and freedom of
motorcycling.In 2022,she purchased her own motorcycle,shifting from a graceful performer to a
cool,dynamic rider.
Jiang does not see her two passions as conflicting. She believes that everyone has multiple
dimensions to their character, with the stage representing just one aspect of her life and
motorcycling marking the shift from work to personal life. Both pursuits bring her joy and
fulfillment, allowing her to express different sides ofherself.

It seems like every day there's another study pointing to how this or that modern technology is
destroying our ability to focus. But what if the problem is that we are expected to focus too much?
By not giving our brains enough downtime, maybe we are actually making the problems worse.
Ever since I was a little kid,I have felt guilty about daydreaming. While I was never directly
discouraged from dreaming as a kid,as I've gotten older, the notes I've gotten from our culture
certainly have told me I was wasting my time whenever my head was in the clouds.
Yet,it never felt right to shut down that daydreaming. For one,it was too fun.How amazing is
it that as humans,we get to go anywhere,do anything,be a different version of ourselves-all
safely within our heads? But don't just take my word for it:In the July,2012 issue of Perspectives
on Psychological Science, psychological scientist Mary Helen Immordino-Yang and her colleagues
gathered a number of studies and explored them for details about the brain at rest, with some of the
results summarized in ScienceDaily."Findings suggest that individual differences in brain activity
during rest are correlated with components of socio-emotional functioning, such as self-awareness
and moral judgment,as well as different aspects of learning and memory."So just like sleeping
allows our brains to reorganize and finally work more efficiently, daydreaming may help our mental
health,day-to-day.
And brain "time-outs"may also help kids learn better."We focus on the outside world in
education and don't look much at inside focused skills and attentions but inside focus impacts the
way we build memories, make meaning and move that learning into new contexts,"says
Immordino-Yang.For kids who have been taught some version of inner focus, the studies that
Immordino-Yang looked at indicated that they are less likely to suffer from high levels of anxiety,
perform better on tests, and do a better job of planning for the future.
Next time you see a kid (or adult!)staring off into space, remember that they might actually be
getting important work done.
28.What does the underlined words "the problems"refer to in the first paragraph?
A.the problems with focus
B.the problems with the brain health
C.the problems with daydreaming
D.the problems with modemn technology
29.Which of the following does NOT belong to the benefits of daydreaming?
A.Daydreaming makes life more fascinating.
B.Day dreaming is good for kids'mental health
C.Daydreaming enables adults to have more job opportunities.
D.Daydreaming helps children improve academic performance.
30.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Mary's conclusion was based on other researchers'studies.
B.The more people sleep, the more efficiently they will work.
C.The students taught inner focus will not suffer from anxiety.
D.Focusing on the outside world helps us build good memories.
31.What's the author's attitude towards daydreaming as an adult?
A.negative
B.critical
C.uncertain
D.favorable
D
Perhaps you know them as“taters'”,“spuds'',or“Kennebees"”,oras“chips”,Idahoes'”,or
even "shoestrings".No matter,a potato by any other name is still a potato-the world's most
widely grown vegetable. While some people don't love potatoes because of its calories which may
lead to weight-gaining,others may love it like honey. As a matter of fact,if you are an average
potato eater, you will put away at least 100 pounds of them each year.
That's only a tiny amount grown every year, however.Worldwide, the annual potato harvest is
over 6 billion bags. Each bag contains 100 pounds of potatoes, some of them as large as four
pounds each.In the United States, farmers fill about 400 million bags a year. That may seem like a
lot of"taters",but it leaves the United States a distant third among world potato growers.Polish
farmers dig up just over 800 million bags a year, while the Russians lead the world with nearly 1.5
billion bags.
People eat potatoes in many ways-baked,mashed,and roasted,to name just three. However,
in the United States most potatoes are devoured in the form of French fries. One fast-food chain
alone sells more than $1 billion worth of fries each year.No wonder, then, that the company pays
particular attention to the way its fries are prepared.
Before any fry makes it to the people who eat at these popular restaurants,it must pass many
separate tests.Fail any one of these tests and the potato is rejected. For example, only Russet
Burbank potatoes are used. These Idaho potatoes have less water content than other kinds, which
can have as much as 80 percent water.Once cut into"shoestrings"shapes, the potatoes are partly
fried in a secret blend of oils, sprayed with liquid sugar to brown them, steam dried at high heat,
then flash frozen for shipment to individual restaurants.
So,now that you realize the enormous size and value of the potato crop, you can understand
why most people agree that this part of the food industry is no"small potatoes".
32.What can we learn from the passage about potato?
A.All people don't like potatoes.
B.Taters aren't a category of potato.
C.Potato lovers eat 100 pounds of potato daily.
D.Polish farmers harvest the most potatoes in the world
33.Why does the company attach great importance to the way its fries are prepared?
A.The fast food chain can only sell this kind of fries.
B.American people have a special preference for French fries
C.Improper way of cooking may do harm to people's health.
D.Good preparation of the fries may attract more consumers.
34.How does paragraph 4 mainly develop?
A.By listing figures.
B.By providing examples.
C.By making comparison.
D.By following the order of space.
35.What's the main idea of the passage?
A.Potatoes have experienced many changes.B.Potatoes are the most significant vegetable.
C.Potatoes are small, but the industry is large.D.Potatoes have been made into different food.

I was sitting next to Missy in my ninth-grade world history class when Mrs.Bartlett announced
a new project. In groups,we were to create a newspaper around the culture we were studying.
On a piece of paper,we wrote the names of three friends we wanted in our group. After
collecting all the requests,Mrs.B.informed us that she would take into consideration the names we
chose and would let us know the results the next day.I had no doubt I would get the group of my
choice.Only a few people behaved normally in the class, and Missy was one of them.I knew we
had chosen each other.
The next day,I anxiously waited for the class. After the bell rang,Missy and I stopped talking as
Mrs.B called for our attention. She started to call out names. When she reached group three,
Missy's name was called. So,I'm in group three,I thought. The second, third and fourth members of
the group were called. My name was not included. There had to be some mistake!
Then I heard it.The last group:"Mauro,Juliette,Rachel,Karina."I could feel the tears well in
my eyes. How could I face being in that group-the boy who rarely spoke English, the one girl who
was always covered by skirts that went down to her ankles, and the other girl who wore weird
clothes.Oh,how badly I wanted to be with my friends.
I fought back tears as I walked up to Mrs.B.She looked at me and knew what I was there for.I
was determined to convince her I should be in thegood"group."Why...?"I started.
She gently placed a hand on my shoulder."I know what you want,Karina,"she said,'but your
group needs you.I need you to help them get a passing grade on this assignment.Only you can help
them.’
I was stunned.I was confused.I was amazed. She had seen something in me I hadn't seen.
"Will you help them?"she asked.
I stood straighter."Yes,"I replied.I couldn't believe it came out of my mouth, but it did.I had
committed.
I bravely walked to where the others in ny group sat.
In the end,Mrs.B gave us an A on that assignment.
