Hello, I’m Li Hua. I’d like to say something about my hometown.
It is located in the south of our country. There are many nice places of interest here, like a quiet old park with beautiful lakes. The local food is great too—we have soft rice noodles that taste really delicious. We often eat them with fresh vegetable soup. The best time to visit my hometown is spring. The weather is not too hot or too cold, and you can see flowers everywhere.
Welcome to my hometown. I’m sure you will like it.

From late at night on September 7th to the early morning of September 8th, a special total lunar eclipse (月全食) took place. It was a rare thing that happened only about every three years. It was a wonderful show in the sky for people.
A total lunar eclipse happened when the Sun, Earth, and Moon lined up. The Moon moved completely (完全地) into the darkest part of Earth’s shadow (阴影). During that time, the Moon turned red, which is known as the “Red Moon”.
A lunar eclipse doesn’t happen often, not to mention a total one—the last total lunar eclipse we could watch in China was three years ago. But this year, except for a small part of northeast China, most places could see it. Different from solar eclipses (日食), you don’t need any special tools to see a lunar eclipse.
This total lunar eclipse happened just a day or two after the Zhongyuan Festival (中元节). It’s interesting that the Zhongyuan Festival and the “Red Moon” came together. It is also a special time for us to connect the past with the present. Did you look up at the sky and enjoy the wonderful “light show”?
24.Which word can be used instead of the underlined “rare”?
A.boring B.unusual C.dangerous D.common
25.Why does the Moon turn red during the total lunar eclipse?
A.Because the Moon moves into the brightest part of Earth’s shadow.
B.Because the Moon is too close to the Sun.
C.Because the Sun, Earth and Moon are in a straight line.
D.Because the Moon itself changes its color when it’s night.
26.What can we infer (推断) about watching this year’s total lunar eclipse in China?
A.It was more difficult for people to watch than a solar eclipse.
B.People in northeast China couldn’t watch it at all.
C.Most people could enjoy it with their eyes.
D.The last time Chinese people saw such an eclipse was in 2024.
27.Which would be the best title for the passage?

B.How to Watch a Lunar Eclipse
C.The History of Total Lunar Eclipses in China
D.Differences between Solar and Lunar Eclipses

Jane Goodall is a famous British scientist who has studied chimpanzees (黑猩猩) for many years. She was born in London in 1934. As a child, she loved animals and dreamed of going to Africa. In 1960, at the age of 26, she traveled to Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania to begin her research on wild chimpanzees.
At first, the chimpanzees were afraid of her and ran away. But Jane was very patient. She spent months quietly following them each day, and gradually they became used to her presence (出现). Her most important discovery (发现) came when she observed (观察) chimpanzees making and using tools to catch termites (白蚁). Before this, people believed that only humans used tools. This finding changed how we think about chimpanzees and ourselves.
Jane also gave the chimpanzees names instead of numbers, which was uncommon for scientists at the time. She found that they have complex (复杂的) social lives, with close family bonds and even wars between different groups. They can feel emotions like joy and sadness.
After years of research, Jane left the forest to focus on protecting chimpanzees and their habitats. She started the Jane Goodall Institute and a youth program called Roots & Shoots, which encourages young people around the world to take action for the environment, animals, and their communities. In her nineties, she still traveled about 300 days a year, giving speeches and inspiring people to make the world a better place.

31.What is the main purpose (目的) of the Roots & Shoots program?
A.To help scientists study animals.

One boy is running in the park. Suddenly, he falls and hurts himself. “Ow!” he shouts. Shouting sounds of pain (疼痛) are different in different countries. “Ow” or “ouch” are heard in English. South Africans cry “eina”. Indians shout “ahia” And Chinese shout “aiyo”. But why will we shout when we get hurt?
Scientists from the National University of Singapore now believe they have found the answer. The scientists tested how long volunteers (志愿者) could put their hands in very cold water.
On the first day, volunteers were allowed to shout “ow” when they felt the pain. On the second day, they had to keep quiet. Scientists tested these volunteers three times. The results showed that volunteers were able to keep their hands in the cold water for a longer time when they were allowed to shout out.
“We found that when we shout a simple sound such as saying ‘ow’, we just need to open our mouths simply and the tongues (舌头) lie flat (放平). It’s a simple sound that needs little control.” One of the scientists said.
He added, “We will cry out when we get hurt, because the simple sound helps us to feel less painful. The shouting sound interferes (干涉) with pain (痛苦) messages traveling to the brain. So by shouting it out, it distracts (使分心) us from the feeling of pain.”
Now we know the answer. So boys and girls, if you are not careful enough to hurt yourselves when you are doing sports, don’t be shy to shout “aiyo”.
32.Who will shout “ahia” when they feel the pain?
A.Englishmen. B.South Africans. C.Indians. D.Chinese.

A.Shouting made people feel more pain.
B.People could stand (忍受) pain longer when they shouted.
C.Keeping quiet helped people deal with pain better.
D.Shouting made no difference to how people felt pain.
34.What’s the purpose (目的) of writing the passage?
A.To advise that we should shout every day to keep healthy.
B.To describe that people like to show their feelings by shouting.
C.To show that it’s not good to put our hands in very cold water.
D.To tell us that shouting out is helpful to make us feel less painful.

A.Special Total Lunar Eclipse and Its Story
B.How to Watch a Lunar Eclipse
C.The History of Total Lunar Eclipses in China

26.推理判断题。根据“But this year, except for a small part of northeast China, most places could see it. Different from solar eclipses, you don’t need any special tools to see a lunar eclipse.”
故选A。

34.What’s the purpose (目的) of writing the passage?

D.To tell us that shouting out is helpful to make us feel less painful.

A.Special Total Lunar Eclipse and Its Story
B.How to Watch a Lunar Eclipse
C.The History of Total Lunar Eclipses in China

A.Because the chimpanzees attacked her.
B.Because she was tired of studying animals.
C.Because she wanted to start protecting chimpanzees full-time.
D.Because she moved to another country to study other animals.
31.What is the main purpose (目的) of the Roots & Shoots program?
