Jamie Lynn Dorr is a loving mother. She faces the challenges of raising a son with autism (自闭症). Recently, she shared an amazing video online, which touched many people’s hearts. The news is this: Her son’s teacher is a perfect match for giving him part of her liver (肝脏), something he needs to live.
Four years ago Jamie moved to a new town. She had few friends, and her son, Bowen, needed all her attention. Then, a teacher named Holly Allgood came into their lives. She brought great kindness, support, and a friendship that would prove to be life-changing.
“If you know Holly, you know she is accommodating,” Jamie said. “From the moment we met, she continued to remind me that even on the hard days, we were not alone. She has caught so many of my tears, answered my late calls, and seen our worst moments. I sent my special-needs son to school because I knew Holly would care for him.”
When Bowen’s health worsened, Holly did much more than her job required. She visited Bowen, video-called him from the hospital, and supported Jamie through this difficult time. Then came more bad news: Neither Jamie nor her husband could be liver donors (捐赠者). Without thinking twice, Holly offered to be tested as a donor, and she was a perfect match.
As Jamie wrote in her moving post, “Holly Allgood isn’t just Bowen’s teacher and our friend, but she is truly our hero. She is taking great risks to give Bowen a chance to live, and I am so thankful that Bowen will always carry a part of her with him.”
24. What can be learned about Jamie before she met Holly?

27. What is the purpose of Jamie sharing the video online?
A To explain what autism is. B. To express her thanks to Holly.
C. To show Bowen’s health condition. D. To raise money for Bowen’s treatment.
C
When Clara took over her grandfather’s Brooklyn bookshop in 2018 the first thing she took away wasn’t the old books, but the WiFi router Regular customers complained. A lawyer said he would spend his $500 monthly coffee money somewhere else if she didn’t put WiFi back. “Books deserve the same full attention we give to people we love,” she told me, while cleaning the brass counter her grandfather put in place in 1967.
Her firm choice seemed harmful to herself, especially as other stores nearby closed down. But something unexpected happened. By 2020, the shop had become an unofficial sanctuary (庇护所). Teenagers lay on Persian carpets reading Dostoevsky, forgetting their phones in their backpacks. A retired judge started holding Saturday poetry meetings. At these meetings, people recited poems from memory—a habit Clara called “brain tattooing.”
The pandemic (疫情) should have been their death knell. Instead, when Clara started selling “Survival Bundles” (carefully chosen books with handwritten notes), many orders came in: Most buyers were tech company leaders who felt tired of Zoom meetings. A CEO from Silicon Valley said these were the first real books he had held since he finished graduate school. “We’re eager for things we can touch and feel,” Clara said, as she wrapped packages in recycled paper.
Last winter, I found her dealing with a new threat. A property developer had bought their building and suddenly raised the rent to three times the original price. What happened next was like a story from a novel: customers organized marches on the sidewalk; the judge helped them for free; even the lawyer who once threatened to leave gave money to pay for their legal help.
In the court, Clara quoted Melville: “We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand small connections link us together.” The judge—who often came to her poetry meetings—said the rent increase was not fair. Now the shop displays this court decision alongside signed first editions. It’s proof that some important connections still can’t be broken by digital things.
28. What made Clara’s approach to running the bookshop special?
A. Focusing on rare book collections.
B. Introducing modern technology.
C. Meeting the needs of customers.
D. Prioritizing full concentration.
29. What does the underlined phrase “death knell” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. A big chance to develop.
B. An event marking the end.
C. A desperate cry for survival.
D. A method to attract more buyers.
30 How did the retired judge help Clara when they faced the rent problem?
A. He provided legal help for Clara without charge.
B. He gave money to pay for their legal defense.
C. He bought the building from the property developer.
D. He organized protests on the sidewalk with customers.
31. What does the story mainly want to tell us?
A. Profit-driven decisions may lead to unexpected outcomes.
B. Only by giving up new technology can traditional shops survive.
C. Community and human connection can handle modern challenges.
D. Sticking to one’s beliefs about traditional things alone can win others’ support.
D
When AI art generators become popular around the world, a question stays in people’s minds: should their works really be thought of as art? While the technology is still developing and has things to improve, it’s clear we must balance its problems against the amazing artworks that good AI can make.
Art is defined as something made from imagination, skill, experience and emotion, usually created to show something for people to enjoy. Human artists spend time and effort turning their inner thoughts into real works. In the same way, AI uses a lot of computing power to look through huge amounts of data, link a user’s request to related information, and try to present it as well as possible. The main difference, though, is that AI follows orders instead of having a strong feeling to express itself.
With one press of the enter key, AI art generators can produce more than 1,000 original works. But a mass-produced copy of the Mona Lisa is less valuable than Leonardo da Vinci’s real painting. Why? Scarcity — there’s only one true version. This brings up questions: Should anyone pay for AI-generated art? And if an artist sells AI-made great works, what price is right?
AI art works when a program copies the styles of existing artists to create new pieces based on what people ask for. But who should get credit for the artwork — the machine or the person using it? Can original artists take legal action for copyright violation? These questions make it hard to mix AI and the art industry, and also make more arguments against seeing AI-generated art as products that can be sold.
Once we solve these problems, we can deal with the biggest question: When an AI-generated painting wins an award, who should get the prize?
32. What makes AI art different from human art?
A. It doesn’t show humans’ inner feelings.
B It comes from people’s life experience.
C. It needs less money to make.
D. It mixes various work styles together.
33. Why does the writer mention Mona Lisa in paragraph 3?
A. To show classic artworks are well-liked.
B. To prove AI painters are better than human artists.
C. To point out possible problems with AI art’s value.
D. To suggest a new way to keep art masterpieces.
34. What can we learn from paragraph 4?
A. AI art helps sell more artistic products.
B. Artists can create more works with AI’s help.
C. The art industry will have tough competition.
D. AI art makes copyright problems harder to solve.
35. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To explain why AI-generated art is more popular than human art.
B. To discuss the arguments and questions around AI-generated art’s status.
C. To introduce how AI art generators create original artworks.
D. To prove that AI-generated art should not be seen as real art.

Trust is the first essential element. A trustworthy friend always keeps his promise. If you say you’re going to do something, follow through. ____37____ You may feel safe sharing your true thoughts and feelings without fear of being laughed at or having your secrets told to others.

____39____ This includes listening to them without interruption and valuing their opinions even when you disagree. At its heart, respect means that you accept your friend for who they are. No one is perfect, and disagreements are normal. ____40____ Talk things through honestly, and be willing to forgive. As a matter of fact, a true friend values the friendship more than the need to be right.
In the end, being a good friend is a continuous process of learning, understanding, and caring.
A. This doesn’t require grand gestures.
B. What matters is how you handle them.
C. It also creates a safe space for honesty.
D. However, it’s equally important to be there during tough times.

W: Welcome to today’s club meeting on effective leadership. I’m Jenny from the college of management. I’m excited to explore the different styles of leadership with you all. There are three main styles of leadership. First, as a leader, you want everyone to be part of the team. When you make a decision, you ask people in the team for their opinions first. This helps you make a good decision and people know that you trust them. Next, you give another person responsibility. If there is a job to do, you give it to a member of the team. This gives the team member confidence and they can learn about making decisions and taking responsibility in the last style. You make all the decisions. If anyone disagrees, they are in trouble. Everyone listens to you and does what you say. The advantage of this is that everyone knows what’s happening. The disadvantage is that your decisions may be unpopular or wrong. However, a really good leader will use all three styles. The key to good leadership is knowing when to use each one. There are other important roles in a team which you can find on my website.

Four years ago, Jamie moved to a new town.
A. She lived a tough life. B. She depended on others for support.
C. She got used to the new life quickly. D. She failed to find a school for her son.
25. What does the underlined word “accommodating” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Strict. B. Helpful. C. Frank. D. Creative.
26. Why did Holly offer to be tested as a liver donor?

C. She hoped to set a good example. D. It was a chance to pay back the family.
27. What is the purpose of Jamie sharing the video online?
A. To explain what autism is. B. To express her thanks to Holly.
C. To show Bowen’s health condition. D. To raise money for Bowen’s treatment.
A 25. B 26. A 27. B

根据第三段中的“From the moment we met, she continued to remind me that even on the hard days, we were not alone. She has caught so many of my tears, answered my late calls, and seen our worst moments.(从我们相遇的那一刻起,她就不断提醒我,即使在艰难的日子里,我们也不是孤单一人。她擦干了我无数的眼泪,接起我深夜的电话,见证了我们最糟糕的时刻。)”可知,Holly始终给予Jamie母子关怀与帮助,因此“accommodating”意为“乐于助人的”,与“Helpful”含义一致。故选B项。

When Clara took over her grandfather’s Brooklyn bookshop in 2018, the first thing she took away wasn’t the old books, but the WiFi router Regular customers complained.
30. How did the retired judge help Clara when they faced the rent problem?
D 29. B 30. A 31. C

根据第一段“When Clara took over her grandfather’s Brooklyn bookshop in 2018, the first thing she took away wasn’t the old books, but the WiFi router (无线路由器). Regular customers complained. A lawyer said he would spend his $500 monthly coffee money somewhere else if she didn’t put WiFi back. “Books deserve the same full attention we give to people we love,” she told me, while cleaning the brass counter her grandfather put in place in 1967.(2018 年克拉拉接手祖父在布鲁克林的书店时,她最先撤走的不是旧书,而是无线路由器。老顾客们纷纷抱怨。一位律师说,要是她不把 WiFi 装回去,他每月 500 美元的咖啡钱就会花到别的地方去。“书籍值得我们给予所爱之人那样的全神贯注,” 她一边擦拭祖父 1967 年就安好的黄铜柜台,一边对我说道。)”可知,克拉拉认为书籍应该得到人们像对待所爱的人一样的完全关注,她取消了无线路由器,优先考虑顾客的专注度。故选D。
【29题详解】
词句猜测题。根据下文“Instead, when Clara started selling “Survival Bundles” (carefully chosen books with handwritten notes), many orders came in.(相反,当克拉拉开始售卖 “生存套装”(精心挑选的书籍,附有手写便签)时,订单纷至沓来。)” B“An event marking the end”符合题意。
根据第四段“customers organized marches on the sidewalk; the judge helped them for free; even the lawyer who once threatened to leave gave money to pay for their legal help.(顾客们在人行道上组织游行;法官免费帮助他们;就连曾经威胁要离开的律师也捐钱支付他们的法律援助费用。)” 故选A。
B. It comes from people’s life experience.
A 33. C 34. D 35. B
根据文章第二段“The main difference, though, is that AI follows orders instead of having a strong feeling to express itself.(然而,主要区别在于AI遵循指令,而非拥有强烈的情感需要表达。)” 故选A。
根据文章第三段“But a mass-produced copy of the Mona Lisa is less valuable than Leonardo da Vinci’s real painting. Why? Scarcity—there’s only one true version. This brings up questions: Should anyone pay for AI-generated art? And if an artist sells AI-made great works, what price is right?(但批量复制的《蒙娜丽莎》不如达·芬奇的真迹有价值。
根据文章第四段“But who should get credit for the artwork—the machine or the person using it? Can original artists take legal action for copyright violation? These questions make it hard to mix AI and the art industry, and also make more arguments against seeing AI-generated art as products that can be sold.(但谁应该获得艺术作品的荣誉——是机器还是使用它的人?原创艺术家可以因版权侵权提起诉讼吗?这些问题使得AI与艺术行业难以融合,也引发了更多反对将AI生成艺术视为可销售产品的争论。)”可知,第四段提出多个关键问题,谁应获得作品署名权?机器还是用户?原创艺术家能否起诉侵权?这些问题使AI与艺术行业的融合变得复杂。这表明AI加剧了版权认定的难度。故选D。
【35题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第一段“When AI art generators become popular around the world, a question stays in people’s minds: should their works really be thought of as art?(当AI艺术生成器风靡全球时,一个问题萦绕在人们心中:它们的作品真的应该被视为艺术吗?)”

Everyone wants to be a good friend, but sometimes we might not be sure what it truly means. Being a good friend isn’t just about having fun together; it’s about the everyday efforts that strengthen your bond. ____36____ It’s built on a foundation of trust, support, and respect.
Trust is the first essential element. A trustworthy friend always keeps his promise. If you say you’re going to do something, follow through. ____37____ You may feel safe sharing your true thoughts and feelings without fear of being laughed at or having your secrets told to others.
Another key part is offering support in both good and bad times. Celebrate your friend’s successes as if they were your own. ____38____ Simply being there, offering a kind word, or helping them with a small task can make a world of difference.

B. What matters is how you handle them.
C. It also creates a safe space for honesty.
D. However, it’s equally important to be there during tough times.
E. True friendship goes beyond simply sharing hobbies or interests.
F. Respect, the third pillar, is shown through your actions and attitudes.
G. Finally, remember that friendship is a two-way street that requires effort from both sides.
E 37. C 38. D 39. F 40. B
根据前文“Everyone wants to be a good friend, but sometimes we might not be sure what it truly means. Being a good friend isn’t just about having fun together; it’s about the everyday efforts that strengthen your bond.(每个人都想成为一个好朋友,但有时我们可能不确定它的真正含义。做一个好朋友不仅仅是一起玩;它是关于每天的努力,加强你们的关系)”以及后文“It’s built on a foundation of trust, support, and respect.(它建立在信任、支持和尊重的基础上)”可知,空前句给出了友谊的定义,空后句则指出了友谊的三大基石,所以E项“True friendship goes beyond simply sharing hobbies or interests.(真正的友谊不仅仅是分享爱好或兴趣)”承接上文,引出下文,符合文意。故选E项。
【37题详解】
根据前文“Trust is the first essential element. A trustworthy friend always keeps his promise. If you say you’re going to do something, follow through.(信任是第一要素。一个值得信赖的朋友总是信守诺言。如果你说你要做某事,那就坚持到底)”可知,本段主题是“信任”。空前句描述了信任的具体行为,所以C项“It also creates a safe space for honesty.(这也为诚实创造了一个安全的空间)”指出了上述行为带来的直接结果。符合文意。故选C项。
【38题详解】
根据前文“Another key part is offering support in both good and bad times. Celebrate your friend’s successes as if they were your own.(另一个关键部分是无论顺境还是逆境都提供支持。庆祝朋友的成功,就像庆祝自己的成功一样)”可知,本段主题是“支持”。空前句描述的是在顺境时的支持,所以空处应是逆境时的支持,所以D项“However, it’s equally important to be there during tough times.(然而,在困难时期陪伴在身边也同样重要)”符合文意。
此处需要一个总起句来点明本段的核心品质,根据后文“This includes listening to them without interruption and valuing their opinions even when you disagree. At its heart, respect means that you accept your friend for who they are. No one is perfect, and disagreements are normal.(这包括不间断地倾听他们的意见,即使你不同意他们的意见,也要重视他们的意见。从本质上讲,尊重意味着你接受你的朋友是谁。人无完人,有分歧是正常的)”可知,本段主题是“尊重”,所以F项“Respect, the third pillar, is shown through your actions and attitudes.(尊重,第三个支柱,通过你的行为和态度表现出来)”符合本段主题。故选F项。
根据前文“At its heart, respect means that you accept your friend for who they are. No one is perfect, and disagreements are normal.(从本质上讲,尊重意味着你接受你的朋友是谁。人无完人,有分歧是正常的)”以及后文“Talk things through honestly, and be willing to forgive. As a matter of fact, a true friend values the friendship more than the need to be right.(开诚布公地谈一谈,并愿意原谅别人。事实上,一个真正的朋友比起证明自己正确,更重视友谊)”可知,空前提出了问题,后文是具体方法,所以空处应是过渡句,提出方法,所以B项“What matters is how you handle them.(重要的是你如何处理它们)”符合文意,承上启下。故选B项。

I'm Jenny from the college of management. I'm excited to explore the different styles of leadership with you all. There are three main styles of leadership. First, as a leader, you want everyone to be part of the team. When you make a decision, you ask people in the team for their opinions. First, this helps you make a good decision, and people know that you trust them. Next, you give another person responsibility. If there is a job to do, you give IT to a member of the team. This gives the team member confidence, and they can learn about making decisions and taking responsibility. In the last style, you make all the decisions. If anyone disagrees, they are in trouble. Everyone listens to you and does what you say. The advantage of this is that everyone knows what's happening. The disadvantage is that your decisions may be unpopular or wrong. However, a really good leader will use all three styles. The key to good leadership is knowing when to use each one. There are other important roles in a team, which you can find on my website.
