Different from old ways to look at one’s body temperature, it looks at different parts of the face to check people’s age and health. How does ThermoFace work? The face has many blood vessels(血管). With their help, ThermoFace can find “hot” and “cool” areas in the face that change with age and illness. For example, as people become older, the temperature of their nose goes down faster than other parts of their face. If someone’s nose is warmer, it means he or she has a younger age. However, the area around the eyes usually gets hotter as people get older. Scientists also find that people with high blood pressure(高血压) have warmer cheeks(脸颊). With ThermoFace, doctors can notice people’s illness earlier. They can do more tests and give advice. Can ThermoFace work perfectly? Will ThermoFace work the same for everyone? We still don’t know. Other factors, like exercise and eating ice cream, can change the temperature of your face. The tool can’t tell us why something has happened, but it can show doctors that there might be a problem. ThermoFace is helpful for research, but we still need to find out whether it can be used in real-life to help doctors. ( )11. Which is probably the result of the research? IV. 阅读表达 What if you could experience music in your body, rather than hear it through your ears? That’s the idea behind Patrick Hanlon’s invention. Patrick Hanlon is a sound expert. He invented a haptic suit(触觉反馈套装). It gives us a new way to listen to music. The suit has a vest and two bands. It allows its user to experience touch through force and vibration(震动). This invention is produced by a technology company named Music; Not Impossible. Hanlon is a co-founder of it. The goal of the company is to help everyone experience live music performances, even if they cannot hear with their ears. People wearing the suit can enjoy a concert by feeling vibrations which match different sounds in the music. Violins vibrate in the chest. Cellos and basses shake around the stomach. Horns are felt in the shoulders, and singings are felt in the arms. Hanlon brought his invention to a recent concert in New York. Audiences had the chance to try on the suit. “When you see it in people’s eyes, it’s magical,” Hanlon said. Jay Zimmerman, who lost his hearing, was one of the audiences. He thinks the suit is an example of how new technology offers more excitement. He hopes that soon the invention will help deaf kids build sound memories. Liza Matta also attended the concert and tried on the suit, though she didn’t completely lose her hearing. “I love this idea and I really hope to enjoy live music at home in the future,” she said. “It happens at so many different levels and creates a 3D-surround experience.” The suit can be used with different types of music, from rock to disco by changing the vibration points. Zimmerman is excited about the high technology, but he knows there’s still a long way to go. He says the goal is to be able to hear a soft violin and it will be so beautiful to his body and his mind that he would cry. That is also a big dream for Hanlon and his team. 14.
