In it, a kouji performer, specializing in vocal mimicry, creates lifelike performances of various sounds using just his mouth, with the stage having only a table, a block of wood on it, a chair and a fan. Originating from ancient China, the art of kouji involves skillfully using movements of the lips, teeth, throat, and tongue to produce sounds that mimic birds, animals, and various other noises in the world. It is often combined with story-telling during performances. In 2011, kouji was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. According to the IHChina website, traditional kouji is becoming endangered due to the rapid development of electronic audio. However, Cao Quyang, a 28-year-old inheritor, has found a solution by combining kouji with beatboxing, achieving a perfect combination of traditional and modern performance art. Cao started learning kouji in 2016 when she wanted to bring something original to her B -box performance. "As a former percussionis (打击乐器演奏者), I'm sensitive to rhythm, so I integrated the kouji techniques I learned into beatboxing and created my own unique style in my area of expertise." she added. For example, when mimicking environmental sounds like wind, Cao can use her mouth to weave beatboxing into it, making the sound of the wind stronger and more rhythmic." The addition of beatboxing brings more musical expression to kouji performances, making the stories more vivid and appealing to today's young audiences." said Cao. In addition to kouji and beatboxing, Cao can also play the Chinese drums, drum set, and piano, as well as DJ. "Innovation is not difficult for me. To me, innovation is simply expressing something that people don't understand in a way they do," said Cao, "As long as it combines tradition and modernity and allows the public to appreciate the beauty of tradition through innovation, I'm willing to do it." 4. What does the article tell us about kouji ? A. It involves five parts of the human mouth. B. It originated in the Western Han dynasty. C. It usually mixes sound mimicry with storytelling. D. It received national heritage status in 2001. 5. How has Cao Quyang contributed to the preservation of kouji? A. By developing a new form of art. B. By employing it to compose pop songs. C. By including digital effects in her performances. D. By combining it with percussion instruments. 6. What aspect of kouji does Cao enhance with beatboxing ? A. Visual appeal. B. Emotional depth. C. Mimicry accuracy. D. Rhythmic complexity. 7. What does Cao think of innovation ? A. It presents challenges and risks of failure. B. It is a means of beautifying the old. C. It is a way to bridge understanding. D. It serves as a form of self-expression. C Some people may be picky eaters, but as a species we are not. Birds, bugs and whales, we’ll eat them all. Yet our reliance on wild animals goes far beyond just feeding ourselves. From agricultural feed to medicine to the pet trade, modern society exploits wild animals in a way that beats even the most aggressive wild predator (捕食者). Now, for the first time, researchers have tried to capture the full picture of how we use wildlife, including how many, and for what purposes. The research showcases just how broad our influence on wild animals is. In the study, researchers have found that humans kill, collect or otherwise use about 15,000 species. That’s up to 300 times more than the next top predator in any ecosystem. Yet according to Chris Darimont, a co-author of the study, the biggest shock isn’t how many species we affect but why we take them. “The result,” he says, “is that we remove, or essentially prey on, more species of animals for non-food reasons than for food reasons.”And the biggest non-food use is as pets and pet food. “That’s where things have gone off the rails (轨道),” he says. The problem is especially serious for tropical birds. The helmeted hornbill, for example, is captured mainly for the pe trade, or for its beak to be used as medicine or to be carved like ivory. Their disappearance limits seed dispersal and the spread of trees around the forest. Another big difference between humans’ influence on wild animals and that of other predators is that we tend to favor rare and exotic (外来的) species in a way other animals do not. Most predators target common species, since they are easier to find and catch. Humans, nowever, tend to covet the novel. “The more rare it is,” say scientists, “the more that drives up the price, and therefore it may go into extinction.” If we want wild species to survive, we need to reestablish our relationship with them, perhaps from predator to caretaker. 8. What role do humans play in their present relationship with wildlife according to the author? A. Picky predators. B. Protectors of biodiversity. C. Greedy predators. D. Caretakers of the environment. 9. What shocked scientists most according to Chris Darimont? A. More species hunted for non-food use. B. The impact of pet industries on wildlife. C. The number of species affected by humans. D. The consequences caused by species extinction. 10. Which can best explain the underlined “cover the novel” in paragraph 4? A. Long for huge profits. B. Favor domestic species. C. Take interest in pet trade. D. Seek after new and unique things. 11. What is the purpose of the text? A. To promote stricter rules for hunting. B. To advocate eco-friendly pet choices. C. To reveal how humans affect biodiversity. D. To highlight the need for wildlife conservation. D One day I typed into ChatGPT all about my upset feelings and it instantly responded, offering a list of practical advice. Nowadays millions of people are already turning to Chat-GPT and specialist therapy (治疗) chatbots for convenient and inexpensive mental health support. Some experts say this is a boon. After all, AI, undisturbed by embarrassment and burnout, might be able to express empathy (同理心) more openly and tirelessly than humans. But others worry about the consequences of people seeking emotional support from machines that can only pretend to care. Some even wonder if the rise of so-called empathetic AI might change the way we interact with one another. Indeed, empathy is one of our species’ defining qualities, developing as it did in pace with social interaction. One recent analysis about empathy looked at 52 studies published between 1980and 2019, which shows that the empathiser must first be able to recognize how the other person is feeling. They must also be affected by those emotions and differentiate between themselves and the other person, grasping that the other person’s feelings aren’t their own while still being able to imagine their experience. On the first point, in recent years, AI-powered chatbots have made progress in their ability to read human emotions, most powered by large language models (LLMs) that work by predicting which words are most likely to appear together based on training data. In this way, LLMs like ChatGPT can seemingly identify our feelings and respond appropriately most of the time. But when it comes to the other criteria, AI still misses the mark in many ways. Empathy is interpersonal, with continued feedback helping to perfect the empathiser’s response, which also requires some degree of intuitive (直觉的) awareness of an individual and their situation. All of this helps to explain conversations like the ones I had with ChatGPT. At the end of the day, despite talking to multiple chat-bots online, I did what I knew I had to do all along: I picked up my phone and called a friend. 12. What does the underlined word “boon” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Trap. B. Prize. C. Blessing. D. Challenge. 13. What does the recent analysis show about empathy? A. It calls for clear communication. B. It starts with emotion identification. C. It rules out individual difference. D. It depends on rich imagination. 14. What can AI do according to Paragraph 4? A. Provide data-driven feedback. B. Recognize one’s real desire. C. Update large language models. D. Predict one’s behavior by intuition. 15. What does the author think of ChatGPT? A. Its development should be sped up. B. Its intelligence is winning more favor. C. Its application should be strictly managed. D. Its artificial kindness is no match for humans’. 第二节(每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 I am a child of traditional book reading. It was a slow but deeper way to absorb a book. ___16___ My struggle with Dostoevsky’ s The Brothers Karamazov early on is a good example. After college, my job involved reading a lot of background materials for projects. Many nights I stayed awake till past midnight leafing through pages. ___17___ It helped me breeze through my reading requirements. On the other hand, the “mixing it up” approach, also referred to as “Interleaved Practice”, could produce dramatic, long-lasting learning benefits. By switching between topics, readers can make connections between ideas and skills. ___20___ Over time, readers could be more capable of solving problems critically. Their parents worked tirelessly day in and day out, yet still struggled to make ends meet. Cameron and Barton, both in middle school, witnessed their parents’ hard work and anxiety and decided to take action and offer their assistance. As summer vacation began, while other children were enjoying their carefree time, Cameron and Barton had a different plan. They started the challenging journey of seeking part-time jobs. Their first attempt was at a local restaurant. Filled with hope, they stood before the manager with an eager expression. However, the manager looked at them critically and said, “You two are too young!” Their hearts sank instantly. Cameron felt a sense of deep disappointment, thinking, “How can we prove ourselves if no one gives us a chance?” Barton’s face fell as he asked his brother, “Will we ever find a job?” Not discouraged by the rejection, they then went to a store named Thompson’s Grocery, hoping to become assistants. “Hello, you must be Mr. Thompson. We’re here to apply for the job,” Cameron said. Barton stood on tiptoe and handed a card from their school’s help-wanted board to Mr. Thompson behind the counter, who was the owner and seemed to be a kind person. However, before they could say more, he shook his head. “This job is too hard for you kids,” he said. “I need someone big and strong.” “Let us give it a try, and if you don’t like our work, don’t pay us,” Cameron begged. He stared at the brothers, who were so sincere, then nodding. Next, he led them to the warehouse (仓库) of the store. The floor was piled with boxes of different sizes and all kinds of objects at random, filling every corner. The various items were mixed up chaotically (杂乱地). It seemed as if they had never been sorted or cleaned. Cameron and Barton were required to clear away the items. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (1)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。 “It’s a tough job. The area featured classic sports like tai chi, shuttlecock kicking and Chinese chess. Foreign students showed great enthusiasm, many of whom joined tai chi sessions guided by teachers. Meantime, other foreign students enjoyed the fun of shuttlecock kicking. Everyone had a fantastic time, saying that it helped them better understand Chinese culture. Not only did this activity enrich our campus life, but it also built a bridge for cultural exchange. It’s truly meaningful to share our traditional sports with friends from abroad. Yours sincerely, Li Hua 第二节 读后续写(满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】 “It’s a tough job. Just do as much as you can,” Mr. Thompson said. Indeed, the task seemed so demanding. Not long after they started working, the heat and dust made them uncomfortable. Cameron’s arms ached from moving heavy boxes, and Barton’s back was sore from bending over. When they had to stop for a break, only a small part was finished. Although the thought of giving up crossed their minds, the brothers pushed it aside thinking about how hard their parents had been working. The task took them over three hours, but they finally made the warehouse clean and tidy. Cameron and Barton asked Mr. Thompson to come after they finished. Mr. Thompson’s eyes widened seeing the once chaotic space took on a completely new look, where everything was in order. He had not expected the brothers to do this job so well. Mr. Thompson handed them their wages, paying extra, and said, “You’ve earned this. By the way, I could use some help over the summer. I wonder if you’re interested.”“We’d love to!” Barton replied happily. Then the brothers went home excitedly, eager to share their success with their parents. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
