In 2015, my friends Helen and Tony decided to have their wedding (婚礼) during the New Year’s holiday at Movie World. Since both of them are big fans of the movie Tangled, they decided to make Tangled the theme of the wedding. The main roles in the movie are the couple Flynn and Rapunzel. At the wedding party, a woman dressed up as Flynn and a man dressed up as Rapunzel even stopped by to meet the guests and wish the couple well. My daughter Mia was only 18 months at the time, but was wild about Flynn. The man kept coming back to her among photos, and his group members had to keep reminding him to get into photos with the other guests. My little one surely loved him and decided he was her “Flynn”.
We went back to Movie World a little over a year later and booked breakfast to eat with well-known Disney movie characters Princess Ariel, Prince Eric, Rapunzel and Flynn at the Boardwalk Resort (度假区). I told the group how exhilarated our daughter was to see Flynn again. After all, their first meeting was so special. Well, clearly something great happened, since not much later, Flynn made a special trip out to see my daughter. He walked up to her saying, “Where’s my Mia?” She lit up. She truly believes, to this day, that he remembered her from the wedding. She got a beautiful present for free, and she and Flynn colored a very special picture together for Rapunzel and gave it to her in front of the other guests.
The workers at Movie World really made Mia’s day. Their acts of kindness went a long way. We have come back to Movie World every year since then.
24. Why did the writer go to Movie World in 2015?
A. To attend a party. B. To watch a movie. C. To celebrate the New Year.

Mobile phone used among school kids has become a problem for the school years. In our country, there are many rules stopping the use of mobile phones at school. _____29_____
It is a good rule because it is hard for school kids to resist (抵抗) the temptation (诱惑) of mobile phones. Mobile phone was a distraction (分心事) to students during school hours. _____30_____ Sometimes students might use mobile phones to cheat during exams. _____31_____ Because they can’t get in touch with their children. Many people say that they understand why these parents would want their children to have phones, but all of them think schools should let the students know when they can use their mobile phones. So in lots of schools, if a student needs to bring a phone to school, his or her parents will have to write a statement. _____32_____ If the student breaks the rule and uses his or her phone during class, the student will be warned.
This is a reasonable rule, isn’t it? Under such a rule, students still have some freedom, and they learn how to improve self-discipline (自律能力) and live with new technologies. _____33_____
In my opinion, freedom is based on good rules, so students should obey school rules. As the saying goes, “No any orders without laws and rules.” Students who follow the rules and learn self-discipline can grow up more healthily. So parents should also follow the school rules and look at the advantages of them.
A. And they make sure that the phone is turned off during class.
B. What’s more, it can also be harmful to students’ eyesight.
C. One of the rules is that students aren’t allowed to bring them to school.
D. Mobile phone has become a problem for middle schools.
E. So rules do not necessarily mean there will be no freedom.
F. However, some parents feel unhappy.

There are two kinds of waterways in the world. One is natural, called a river. The other is man-made, called a canal (运河). China has the longest canal in the world——the Grand Canal.
The United Nations (UN) produced a stamp of the Grand Canal. It will let more people learn about the great Chinese waterway. The picture on the UN stamp shows a night-time view of the canal in Yangzhou, Jiangsu.
How was the Grand Canal built?
The Grand Canal dates back over 2,500 years. During the Spring and Autumn Period, people started to build a canal in today’s Jiangsu Province. During the Sui Dynasty, it became part of the Grand Canal. The Grand Canal runs from Beijing to Zhejiang Province.
The canal connects five river basins, such as the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. In 2014, it got onto the World Heritage List.
Why is it important?
Modern planes and trains make it easy to get things from different places. However, things were moved slowly by horses or on foot in old times. It took a lot of time to move large things like bags of grains and tea by land. The Grand Canal made things faster and easier to move.
During the Sui Dynasty for example, fine grains grew in the south. But they were kept in the capital, Luoyang, in the north. With the Grand Canal, people were able to send grains to the capital in a short time. The canal also made the economy (经济) grow fast. Silk, tea and coal were all sent between the north and south.
“The Great Wall symbolizes the firm backbone of China, while the Grand Canal is the bloodline that flows through hearts of Chinese people,” said Shan Jixiang, former director of the Palace Museum.
34. What is a canal?

35. What’s the picture on the stamp about?

During the Sui Dynasty, for example, fine grains grew in the south.

根据“It is usual to tip those ... help carry your bags”可知,空格引导定语从句修饰先行词“those”(那些人),且在从句中作主语,指人,应用关系代词“who”。故填who。

【41题详解】
句意:在那里尊重排队是很重要的。根据“It’s important ... admire lines there.”可知,“It’s + 形容词 + to do sth.”是固定句型,其中“it”作形式主语,真正的主语是后面的动词不定式,所以此处用“to admire”。故填to。
【42题详解】
句意:在西班牙,人们吃饭很晚,餐馆通常要到晚上9点以后才开门。根据“restaurants do not generally open ... after 9 p.m.”可知,此处表示“直到……才”,应用“not...until...”结构,意为“直到晚上9点以后才开门”。故填until。
【43题详解】
句意:在日本,人们通常在第一次见面时互相交换个人或商业名片。根据“people usually give personal or business cards to each other ... they meet for the first time”可知,此处表示“当……时候”或“如果……时”,引导时间状语从句或条件状语从句,应用“when”或“if”均可。故填when/if。
