Recently, a great scientific discovery amazed the world. Chinese scientists have already found a new method to produce water on the Moon, which could change how we think about living on the Moon in the future! They wrote about their discovery in a science magazine called The Innovation. Their discovery shows that by using lunar soil (月壤), scientists can create a lot of water on the Moon.
In the past, missions to the Moon showed that there might be ice at the Moon’s north and south poles (极). However, there isn’t much water in lunar soil—only a little bit, like 0.0001 percent to 0.02 percent, which makes it hard to find and use water there. So it’s difficult for people to expect to live on the Moon.
The researchers, however, found something exciting, after studying the rocks and soil from the Moon brought back by the Chang’e-5 spacecraft. One of the exciting things they discovered is that lunar soil melts (融化) when it reaches over 1,000℃. When it begins to melt, it produces water vapor (蒸气). They learned that just 100g of lunar soil can give us 5.1g to 7.6g of water. So, if we had one ton of lunar soil, we could get between 51kg and 76kg of water. That’s enough to give drinking water to 50 people for one day!
All in all, this research opens up new possibilities for finding water on the Moon. It’s important for future trips to the Moon and people who might live there someday. As we learn more about how to make water from lunar soil, we get closer to the dream of humans living on the Moon. This discovery could help make that dream come true!
56.Why does the writer mention the earlier research in Paragraph 2?
A.To show that it was totally wrong.
B.To compare it with the new discovery.
C.To prove that there is no running water on the Moon.
D.To explain why people wanted to live on the Moon before.
57.What condition is needed for lunar soil to produce water vapor according to the passage?
A.It needs to be mixed with ice from the Moon’s poles
B.It needs to be brought back to Earth by a spacecraft
C.It needs to reach a temperature over 1,000℃ and melt
D.It needs to be stored in a special box for a few days
58.How much water may scientists get if they have 1,000g of lunar soil?
A. B.
C. D.
59.What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards the dream of humans living on the Moon?
A.Hopeful. B.Worried. C.Surprised. D.Doubtful.
60.Where may the passage come from?
A.In a science magazine named Nature. B.In a science magazine called Discovery
C.On the official website of Chang’e-5 mission. D.In a report released by the lunar research center.

A group of students from different cultural backgrounds are the members of a program called The Future of the Silk Road. They explore different Chinese cities and cultures. Once they went to Weinan, Shaanxi, Weinan has many intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) projects, so they visited many places where they learned about culture and history, and experienced performing arts.
One of the art forms they experienced was Huayin Laoqiang, a folk opera style listed as an intangible cultural heritage. Because of its powerful pronunciation, it’s described as the traditional Chinese rock. Peter, an international student said, “I’m interested to see how the artists were performing with energy and love. They really want to protect their culture.”
At Tongguan Museum, students were treated to another style of laoqiang, called the Yellow River Laoqiang. This performance, centered on local food and traffic safety, was given by some children. 61. 根据第二段“One of the art forms they experienced was Huayin Laoqiang, a folk opera style listed as an intangible cultural heritage. Because of its powerful pronunciation, it’s described as the traditional Chinese rock.”
根据第四段Peter的表述“I think that, in the long run, a greater number of young people will be interested in taking part in cultural activities”可知,Peter认为未来会有更多年轻人参与文化活动,对中国文化的未来是抱有希望的。故选B。
原文开头提到学生“different cultural backgrounds(不同文化背景)”,而非“family backgrounds(家庭背景)”,A项未被提及;B项“学生访问的陕西渭南”在第一段“Once they went to Weinan, Shaanxi”明确提到;C项“黄河老腔的内容(围绕当地美食和交通安全)”在第三段“This performance, centered on local food and traffic safety, was given by some children.”有描述;D项“Peter对文化传承的感受”在第四段“I think that, in the long run, a greater number of young people will be interested in taking part in cultural activities”有所体现。故选A。

E
Beijing, October 18—Yang Zhenning, a world-famous physicist, Nobel Prize (诺贝尔奖) winner, and professor at Tsinghua University, passed away in Beijing on October 18 because of his illness. 66
Yang was born in Hefei, Anhui Province, in 1922. When he was 13, after reading a book about the universe (宇宙), he told his parents, “I want to win the Nobel Prize one day”. 67 In 1957, he and Li Zhengdao won the Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering that parity is not conserved in weak interactions (弱相互作用中的宇称守恒质疑). It was a great finding that changed how scientists understand the universe.
68 In 1971, when China and the US started to build better ties, he became the first famous Chinese scholar (学者) to visit China. He was so moved to learn China made its atomic bomb (原子弹) by itself that he cried. Back in the US, he talked about China’s progress everywhere, encouraging many Chinese scholars to come back.
In 1999, he returned to Tsinghua University to teach. 69 He raised money to help Chinese scientists study abroad and set up research centers in many universities. In 2015, he gave up his US citizenship (公民资格) and became a Chinese Academy of Sciences member.
“He is like a circle,” people said. “He started in Tsinghua Garden, went to the world stage, and finally came home.” 70
A.Yang Zhenning’s life tells us: with passion (热情) for science and love for our country, we can achieve great things.
B.This dream came true when he was 35.
C.Even in his 80s, he still gave lessons to first-year students.

68.根据“In 1971, when China and the US started to build better ties, he became the first famous Chinese scholar (学者) to visit China. He was so moved to learn China made its atomic bomb (原子弹) by itself that he cried. Back in the US, he talked about China’s progress everywhere, encouraging many Chinese scholars to come back.”
69.根据“In 1999, he returned to Tsinghua University to teach.”
70.根据“‘He is like a circle,’ people said. ‘He started in Tsinghua Garden, went to the world stage, and finally came home.’” 故选A。
