Times change! The day I heard that the Bright Bookstore was closing, I was sad. The book store had been in the neighborhood for about 50 years, and it was a great place where people could connect through their love of books.
When I met Old Tim, the bookstore’s owner, he told me it was difficult to run a traditional Bookstore. Most young people preferred reading e-books and many people bought books online.
Childhood memories came back to me so clearly. A group of us kids often went to the bookstore. We looked at the new books, or just talk with Tim. We spent hours reading there. Tim encouraged us to share our ideas by writing them on a large board.
A few months later, I was back and was surprised to see that The Bridge Bookstore was still open for business. It was still old, but inside it was like a different world. In an area, a book reading was going on. Nearby, some readers are sharing their ideas on a screen instead of the large board. Some were reading on computers. It even had a coffee shop selling nice food. Clearly, the Bridge Bookstore was in good, creative hands.
Tim told me that there were more community events in the coffee shop such as book readings and even concerts and movie nights. The bookstore was turned into a place where the book lovers got together and shared ideas and experiences.
“Well, as you can see, technology and creativity have brought my old bookstore into the 21st century! I’m so glad to see that everything I wanted it to offer to the community is still here.” said Tim.
No matter how times change, there are always people who love reading. With the development of technology, traditional bookstores should also change in a creative way.

①Museums are an important way to exchange different cultures and help people understand each other better. So, have you ever heard of International Museum Day (IMD)? Every year, ICOM (the International Council of Museums) organizes events to celebrate it on May 18. The main objective of the festival is to make people realize the importance of museums in the development of our society. Here are some facts about it.
②Before creating International Museum Day, ICOM brought the international museum community together for a 1951 meeting called Crusade for Museums. They wanted to discuss the theme “Museums and Education”. Then the idea of International Museum Day was born. In 1977, ICOM decided to celebrate IMD on May 18 every year.
③Over the years, IMD has got increasing attention due to technology. In 2009, 20,000 museums in over 90 countries took part in the celebration. In 2018, the number jumped to 40,000 in over 150 countries. Today, even more museums take part, using online tools to reach people everywhere.
④Every year, ICOM chooses a theme for the day. This year’s theme is “The future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities”. It will focus on the three areas of cultural protection, youth participation (参与) and the usage of new technologies. The main event of China in 2025 will be held in Beijing.

Do you like to travel alone? Or do you think it’s better to travel with friends? If you’re still deciding, please read on. I will tell you about the advantages of both ways.
One of the great things about traveling alone is that you make the rules about where you go and what you eat. Also, traveling alone helps you to find out your energy you didn’t know you had. Besides, it gives you time to think, learn and grow.
It’s easy to think that traveling alone is lonely. Although that may sometimes be true, you’re hardly ever alone. When you travel in a one-person team, this can provide a chance for you to enjoy the most interesting part of travel—communicating with the local people and meeting travelers from all corners of the world.
In fact, traveling to know more about the world is not easy. There’s research to be done, flights (航班) to be booked and choices to be made, not to mention that things can—and often do—go wrong. One of the main advantages of traveling with friends is being able to share these things and support each other through the process, even if it’s just someone who will wait with your bag when you go to the bathroom.
Just as your mother always says, it’s true that traveling with others can give you a sense of safety, especially if you’re new to travel. You know that if you get lost or have your wallet stolen, there’s someone to hold your hand when you try to ask for help in a foreign police station.
There’s no right or wrong way to travel. Whether you travel alone or team up with friends, it depends on you.
根据短文内容,判断下列句子正(T)、误(F)。
41.The writer thinks it’s better to travel alone than travel with friends.
42.Two advantages of traveling alone are mentioned in Paragraph 2.
43.Traveling alone can provide a chance to talk with local people.
44.To a new traveler, traveling with others can make him feel safe.
45.It’s up to you to decide the ways you travel.

China is making big efforts to help people watch their weight and live much healthier lives. The government has started a three-year “Weight Management Year” plan from 2024 to 2027 to fight against obesity (肥胖). Obesity can cause serious health problems. 46
First, it’s important to check your BMI (体重指数). For adults, a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24. If your BMI is between 24 and 28, you are overweight. 47
Eating well is very important too. When it comes to food, choose brown rice, fresh vegetables, fish, chicken, beans and so on. 48 You should also eat less salt and oil. Interestingly, the plan even includes fun local dishes to make healthy eating tasty and full of local taste.
49 For exercise, try to do 150-300 minutes of activities like walking, cycling, or dancing every week, and do strength exercises twice a week. If you sit for a long time while studying, stand up and stretch (伸展) for 5 minutes every hour.
Besides food and exercise, small daily habits can also make a big difference. 50 That’s because bad sleep can make you gain weight. While eating, try to eat vegetables first, then meat, and finally rice or bread during a meal.
Remember, losing weight isn’t about being perfect. You can just start with small changes, like drinking water instead of soda or taking the stairs instead of the lift. With these easy steps, everyone can have a healthier future.
阅读短文,把A~E五个句子填入文中空缺处,使短文内容完整。
A.Don’t eat fried food or sugary snacks.
B.Exercise also plays an important role.
C.A BMI of 28 or more means you are too heavy.
D.Teenagers should sleep seven hours every night.
E.Here’s what you should know about the plan.

Every year, ICOM (the International Council of Museums) organizes events to celebrate it on May 18. The main objective of the festival is to make people realize the importance of museums in the development of our society. Here are some facts about it.

First, it’s important to check your BMI (体重指数). For adults, a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24. If your BMI is between 24 and 28, you are overweight. 47

49 For exercise, try to do 150-300 minutes of activities like walking, cycling, or dancing every week, and do strength exercises twice a week. If you sit for a long time while studying, stand up and stretch (伸展) for 5 minutes every hour.

56.句意:机舱内装着三十个木制的箱子。此处需形容词作定语修饰名词 “boxes”,“wood”是名词,其形容词形式“wooden”表示“木制的”,符合语法要求。故填wooden。

【答案】例文
I Am the Best
Last year, I joined my school’s English speech contest. At first, I was nervous and practiced every day after school. I recorded my voice to improve my pronunciation and asked my teacher for advice. During the competition, my legs shook but I took a deep breath and spoke confidently. When I finished, everyone clapped loudly. Surprisingly, I won first place! I felt proud because I overcame my fear and tried my best.
This experience taught me that hard work can make ordinary people achieve extraordinary things. Now I believe challenges are chances to grow. Whenever I face difficulties, I tell myself, “I am the best!”
