One of my all-time favourite classic books is Treasure Island by the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson. The story takes place in the 18th century, mainly on a remote island in the Caribbean Sea. It is a thrilling tale about a young boy’s exciting journey in search of hidden treasure.
Jim Hawkins, the main character of the book, is a kind and brave teenager who lives with his parents in a small inn. One day, an old sailor comes to stay at the inn and leaves a mysterious map before he dies. Jim soon finds out that the map leads to a huge treasure left by a famous pirate captain.
Determined to find the treasure, Jim joins a sailing trip with a group of men. However, he later discovers that most of the sailors on the ship are pirates led by the cruel Long John Silver. These pirates are planning to steal the treasure once they get to the island. Jim has to use his wisdom to survive and stop the pirates’ plan.
