Just ask Rylee Sayer, whose list of achievements has become even longer after being selected to compete as an Aquablack at her first-ever World Para Swimming Championships(WPSC). The Hauraki Plains College student was born with a rare condition, and later, she suffered from an aggressive form of bone cancer. Within a month of the diagnosis (诊断), she had to have a forequarter amputation (截肢) of her right arm. But with all her courage and determination, Rylee has taken the suffering and turned it into a positive. Despite her limb loss, Rylee held on firmly to her passion for swimming. Training six to seven times weekly at Matamata Swim Club under coach Graeme Laing, she rebuilt her strength and technique. “All the training and hard work has paid off,” she told The Profile. “I have had a lot of tears in my goggles, but my motivation always wipes them away. Her efforts led to a historic moment: selection for the 2023 World Para Swimming Championships in Manchester, Great Britain. She said she cried with excitement alongside her mum and a close friend who gave her “a big hug”. “I am more than grateful to have the opportunity,” she said. Being her first WPSC, she said it was hard to know what to expect, but she aimed to reach finals and set personal bests. Her pre-race routine included hype music for mental focus and careful stretching. She said her motivation is rooted in how far she has come from the start of her cancer journey. “Little me would be so proud of how far I have come now,” she said. “I’m grateful to everyone who has been helping me on this journey, especially my family.” 24. What directly contributes to Rylee’s amputation? A. A serious athletic injury. B. The delay in treatment. C. A severe bone condition. D. The after-effects of previous surgery. 25. How did Rylee feel when selected to compete in the WPSC? A. Anxious but proud. B. Stressed but confident. C. Calm and responsible. D. Overjoyed and appreciative. 26. Where does Rylee’s motivation mainly come from? A. The desire to win the championships. B. Her pride in participating in the WPSC. C. Her progress in fighting against the disease. D. The support from her family and friends. 27. What does Rylee’s story tell us? A. It’s never too old to learn. B. Well begun is half done. C. Actions speak louder than words. D. Nothing is impossible for a willing heart. C Conservationists in Kaua’i’s Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge celebrated exciting milestones for two endangered seabird species in 2022, and they’re looking forward to more good news this year. Since 2015, American Bird Conservancy(ABC), Pacific Rim Conservation, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have been translocating Newell’s Shearwater and Hawaiian Petrel chicks to a fenced-in area called Nihoku. The hope is to establish a new breeding colony for both species that is safe from threats like invasive species and sea-level rise. Last year, seven years of dedicated translocations paid off for both species. In summer, a translocated Newell’s Shearwater came back as an adult prospect for a nesting site for the first time, and in fall, a Hawaiian Petrel chick hatched by translocated parents successfully fledged (能飞). The Hawaiian Petrel news is a particular relief to the team, marking the official beginning of a Hawaiian Petrel colony within the fence. “I remember the start of this project — building the fence and bringing the first Hawaiian Petrel chicks to the site,” said George Wallace, director of international programs for ABC. “Because of the long period of time to first breeding in the species, it’s a gradual process getting a colony started this way, but it is working.” Since 2015, conservationists have translocated dozens of chicks of both species to Nihoku to establish a new colony. After the seabirds fledge, they typically spend four to five years foraging on the open seas as they mature to breeding age, then return to breed at the site where they fledged. That means efforts like these require a leap of faith — conservationists had to persist for years before knowing whether efforts would pay off. But many consider it worth the risk because without places like Nihoku, both species could be on track to extinction. Newell’s Shearwater numbers fell by 95 percent during that time. The biggest threat for both species is invasive mammals like cats and rats that prey (捕食) on eggs and chicks. The exciting new developments are a sign of hope and a testament to years of hard work, patience, and determination from partners working to secure these seabirds’ future survival. 28. Why were two seabird species displaced within a fence? A. Because their former habitats were flooded. B. Because they were protected to produce new birds. C. Because they both were the subjects of this program. D. Because there were no invasive mammals like cats and rats. 29. What did George Wallace think of the program? A. It still has a long way to go. B. It finally is a great success. C. It’s likely to function well. D. Its effect remains to be seen. 30. What is the main idea of the passage? A. The introduction to two seabird species. B. The threats facing endangered seabirds in Kaua’i. C. The conservation efforts for two seabird species in Kaua’i. D. The challenges of establishing a new breeding colony for seabirds. 31. What is the feeling of conservationists towards the progress? A. Grateful. B. Defensive. C. Tolerant. D. Encouraged. D Every human being is longing for connection. From birth, social interactions shape our brain architecture, and this need becomes especially intense in adolescence — a stage when identity is forming and peer relationships hold huge weight. It’s no surprise, then, that even brief social isolation (孤独) can deeply change how teenagers think, feel, and behave. A recent study by the University of Cambridge sheds new light on just how sensitive young people are to loneliness. The research involved 40 mentally healthy adolescents aged 16 to 19 with typical social connection levels. On two separate days, each participant spent 3-4 hours alone before completing computer tasks measuring reward-seeking motivation (e.g., reacting to social interaction images or money-earning games). The critical difference: one day, they had no social contact at all (no phones, no Internet); the other, they could use devices for virtual interaction. The results were striking: after total isolation, teens showed far stronger drive to seek rewards—staring longer at happy social scenes and excelling (胜出) more in money-earning games. Virtual socializing softened this shift, though it still caused a drop in positive mood. This study adds nuance (细微差别) to the social media debate. While digital platforms are often blamed for rising teen loneliness, they acted as a buffer here, easing loneliness and reducing intense reward-seeking. Yet they’re no cure-all — Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore notes virtual connection brings risks like harmful content or addiction. Its value depends on context: it helps when in-person bonds are scarce but can never replace their richness. Global teen loneliness has doubled in a decade, driven by academic pressure, changing family structures, economic instability, and more — not just social media. Loneliness ties to depression, anxiety, and even long-term cardiovascular risks. The study’s core lesson: social interaction is a basic human need, not a luxury. For caregivers, educators, and society, creating environments where teens build genuine in-person connections is essential for healthy development. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. The Dangers of Social Media for adolescents B. A Study on Teenagers’ Love for Virtual Interaction C. The Secret Isn’t Willpower. People tend to respect and even idolize strong-willed people — friends who hit up the gym five times a week or colleagues who manage to stay focused in nearly every situation. But willpower shouldn’t be confused with self-control. 36 , yet it may not be the most effective method. Improving willpower boils down to just trying harder while self-control relies on strategic methods. 37 . Here are some options: Create routines. Research reveals that people who are good at self-control tend to structure their lives to avoid having to make draining decisions in the moment. 38 Monitor your progress. Enhancing self-control can be both easy and fast. 39 such as using a journal, a calendar, or an audio recording. This process creates immediate feedback and a sense of accomplishment, reinforcing your commitment. Manage your environment. Energy vampires, the type of people who leave you feeling drained, will deplete your ability to exert self-control. Likewise, people who support you and lift you up will give you a greater capacity for self-control. 40 . “Shifting focus from individual desires to collective needs fosters motivation for self-control,” said Scott Haas, a clinical psychologist in Boston. This shift in focus reduces reliance on finite mental resources. Ultimately, self-control is less about fighting urges and more about skillfully managing your environment and perspective, leading to lasting calm. A. Build supportive networks. B. Connect to a larger purpose. C. Somehow, these routines automate positive responses. D. The key is to keep notes on your actions toward a goal. E. Multiple techniques maximize the effectiveness of self-control. F. Willpower may help manage your emotions or fight strong desires. G. For instance, scheduling fixed activities like running builds consistency. 第三部分 语言运用(共三节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Janie’s farm wasn’t initially a safe shelter for animals with physical disabilities. The fierce winter air bit her cheeks, but her determination warmed her from within. Her mother, watching from a nearby cafe, felt a mix of heartache and pride. Earlier that week, while shopping for her mother, Lily had realized that if her father were still here, he would have helped her pick the perfect Christmas present for Mom. Now, it was up to her alone. Lily’s father had passed away from cancer when she was almost three. Though her memories of him were faint, she carried the weight of his absence every day, especially during the holidays. Today, with $25 of her saved pocket money in hand, she was on a mission to find a gift that would convey all the love her mother deserved. The market was busy with people, laughter, and the scent (气味) of roasted chestnuts. Stands were dotted with twinkling lights and handmade decorations. Lily moved carefully through the crowd, her eyes scanning each stand for something special. She passed knitted scarves, scented candles, and wooden toys, but nothing felt quite right. Then, at a quiet corner stand, an elderly woman was selling unique, hand-painted music boxes. One in particular caught Lily’s eye — it was pale blue, her mother’s favorite color, and had a delicate snowflake design. Lily approached the stand, her small fingers tracing the music box’s smooth surface. “It plays ‘Silent Night’”, the woman said gently. Lily’s eyes lit up; that was the song her mother always sang to her on Christmas Eve. Without hesitation, she handed over her savings. The woman wrapped the gift carefully and placed it in a small bag. Clutching the bag, Lily felt a wave of accomplishment and love. She turned and hurried back toward the cafe, eager to see her mother’s reaction. 注意: 1. 续写词数150左右;文章开头已给出,不计入总词数; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Lily rushed into the café, cheeks flushed with excitement. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Back home that evening, the gift was finally unwrapped. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 答案第10页,共12页 答案第11页,共12页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 绝密★启用前 · 2026浙江1月学考英语冲刺押题卷02解析版 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? Thus, he claimed that tosolve humans’ maior problems, we have to anticipate what will become problems as resources reduce. He was especially passionate about developing more efficient housing. His goal was to create a new way oconstructing buildings that could provide more livable space while using far fewer materials, energy, and resources. 31. Loneliness, ultimately, is a signal — seek community. Answering that call doesn’t just ease teens’ present pain; it lays the groundwork for their lifelong well-being. 32. What difference was found between the two test days in the study? A. Teens used more devices on the day with total isolation. B. Positive mood dropped only on the day of no social contact. C. Total isolation led to stronger reward-seeking motivation in teens. D. Virtual interaction made teens perform worse in money-earning games. 33. What can we infer about virtual socializing from the text? A. It has both positive effects and potential risks for teens. B. It is the main cause of increasing teen loneliness globally. C. It can completely replace in-person connections for teens. D. It eliminates the need for teens to seek real-world rewards. 34. What does the author think of teens’ healthy development?? A. Virtual socializing is sufficient. B. Loneliness is self-overcomable. C. Academic pressure is the biggest barrier. D. In-person social connections are essential. 35. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. The Dangers of Social Media for adolescents B. A Study on Teenagers’ Love for Virtual Interaction C. The Profound Impact of Loneliness on adolescents D. How to Reduce Teenagers’ Loneliness in Digital Times 【答案】32. C 33. A 34. D 35. C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍剑桥大学关于青少年孤独感的研究,揭示完全隔离、虚拟社交对青少年的影响及社交互动对其健康发展的重要性。 32. 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“On two separate days, each participant spent 3-4 hours alone before completing computer tasks measuring reward-seeking motivation (e.g., reacting to social interaction images or money-earning games). Virtual socializing softened this shift, though it still caused a drop in positive mood.(在两次独立实验日中,每位参与者需独处3-4小时后完成计算机任务,包括测量奖赏寻求动机(如对社交互动图像的反应或赚钱游戏)。 根据第三段中的“While digital platforms are often blamed for rising teen loneliness, they acted as a buffer here, easing loneliness and reducing intense reward-seeking. Yet they’re no cure-all — Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore notes virtual connection brings risks like harmful content or addiction.(虽然数字平台经常被指责导致青少年孤独感上升,但它们在这里起到了缓冲作用,缓解了孤独感,减少了强烈的寻求奖励行为。然而,它们并非万能药——萨拉-杰恩·布莱克莫尔教授指出,虚拟连接存在有害内容或成瘾等风险)”可知,虚拟社交对青少年既有积极影响(缓解孤独),也有潜在风险(有害内容、成瘾)。故选A项。 34. 细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“For caregivers, educators, and society, creating environments where teens build genuine in-person connections is essential for healthy development.(对于照顾者、教育者和社会来说,创造让青少年建立真正面对面连接的环境对其健康发展至关重要)”可知,作者认为面对面社交对青少年健康发展至关重要。故选D项。 35. 主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段“Every human being is longing for connection. From birth, social interactions shape our brain architecture, and this need becomes especially intense in adolescence — a stage when identity is forming and peer relationships hold huge weight. It’s no surprise, then, that even brief social isolation (孤独) can deeply change how teenagers think, feel, and behave. A recent study by the University of Cambridge sheds new light on just how sensitive young people are to loneliness.(渴望联结是人类的本质需求。 Want More Self-Control? 【答案】36. F 37. E 38. G 39. D 40. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Lily rushed into the café, cheeks flushed with excitement. She plopped down beside her mother, holding the small bag out eagerly. “Mom, Mom! I found the perfect Christmas present for you!” Her voice trembled with joy as she handed over the wrapped box. Her mother wiped the mist from her eyes and took the bag gently, curiosity sparkling in her gaze. “You’ve been gone for a while, honey. What did my little girl pick?” The rustle of wrapping paper filled the quiet corner of the café, and Lily’s heart beat fast with anticipation — she couldn’t wait to share the magic of the music box. Back home that evening, the gift was finally unwrapped. As the pale blue music box came into view, her mother gasped softly. “It’s... it’s my favorite color,” she murmured. When she wound it up, the familiar melody of “Silent Night” filled the room, and tears streamed down her cheeks. “Your dad used to hum this song to me when we decorated the Christmas tree,” she said, pulling Lily into a warm hug. “This is the most precious gift I’ve ever received.” Lily buried her face in her mother’s shoulder, feeling the weight of her father’s absence fade into warmth. 词汇激活 行为类 ①找到:find/locate ②闪烁:sparkle/glitter ③快速跳动:beat fast/pound 情绪类 ①宝贵:precious/valuable ②快乐:joy/happiness 【点睛】[高分句型1] Her voice trembled with joy as she handed over the wrapped box.(运用了as引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2] Lily buried her face in her mother’s shoulder, feeling the weight of her father’s absence fade into warmth.(运用了现在分词作状语) 答案第20页,共23页 答案第21页,共23页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
