Old Dawson had the best apples in town, but kids knew they mustn't go into his yard to pick a delicious apple, even off the ground, because Dawson, a bad - tempered (坏脾气的) man, they said,
would come after you with his gun. One Friday, 12 - year - old Janet was going to stay all night with her friend Amy. They had to walk by Dawson's house on the way to Amy's house. Like most of the children, Janet was scared of the old man because of the stories she'd heard about him.
Amy said that Mr. Dawson wouldn't hurt anyone. Still, Janet was growing more nervous with each step closer to the old man's house. When they got close enough, Dawson looked up with his usual frown, but when he saw it was Amy, a big smile changed his whole face as he said, “Hello, Miss Amy. I see you've got a little friend with you today.” Amy smiled back and told him Janet was staying overnight and they were going to listen to music and play games. Dawson told them that sounded fun, and offered them each a fresh picked apple off his tree.
As they walked on, Janet asked Amy, “Everyone says he's the meanest man in town. Why was he so nice to us?” Amy explained when she first started walking past his house, he wasn't very friendly and she was afraid of him, but she always smiled at him. It took a while, but one day he half - smiled back at her. After some more time, he started smiling real smiles and then started talking to her. Just a “hello” first, then more. She said he always offers her an apple now, and is always very kind.
We're always trying to achieve so much, and it's so easy to get caught up in everyday life that we forget we can bring cheer to ourselves - and others simply. Giving a smile takes so little effort. Let's smile to others.

①Imagine you are walking in the sand on a beach. As you walk, you leave footprints (足迹). Later, the footprints disappear. But imagine if your footprints stayed there forever. And imagine, too, that you left footprints everywhere you walked so that someone could know wherever you've been. I think that's what happens when you use computers and mobile phones. When you go online, you leave your digital (数字的) footprint, and it can be tracked (追踪) in a database (数据库). And there are some reasons why your digital footprint matters to you.
②There is someone who is interested in what you write on Twitter or post on Instagram. For example, companies who sell things are interested in it because they want to send you ads for things they want you to buy.
③What you write online influences how people see you. Perhaps one day you write something silly online. Maybe you make a bad joke. Years later, it's found by the company you want to work for, and they don't think it's funny. Then what? Maybe they decide you're not the right kind of person for them.
④You should keep your money safe. There are plenty of people looking at information about you, and some of them want to steal from you. The less information you put out, the harder it is for them. Bank details, card numbers, passwords...None of them should be written in emails, text messages or anything else.
⑤In a word, remember that you have a digital footprint, and think carefully before you click "send" or "post". No one can go online and not leave a footprint, but with care, you can control it.

B. People are expected to post funny things online.
C. People are encouraged to keep their money safe.
D. People should be careful with their digital footprints.
70. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
Recently a video on Bilibili got wide attention. About 1,000 students across China talked about what they didn't want to be in the future. This was a bit unusual. Normally, people talk about the things they do want to do or be.
Well, it turns out that most of the students aren't pleased with the world. There are lots of big problems. Some have easy solutions and others don't. Most adults have become tired and bored. In other words, they get tired and give up on having any dreams or hopes of being able to make the world a better place.
When I was a teenager, my parents and teachers told me I could do anything and be whatever it is that I wanted to be. I usually laughed and thought this was a bit silly. However, looking back, I was really thankful for their advice, support and help with my learning. Now I work in education. I've been
looking for more ways to encourage my students to keep their dreams alive. I always encourage them to try to help make the world a better place.
But how can you achieve your dream? According to my favorite book, there are four steps: Focus on your "wildly important goals (your "WIGs"), develop steps to achieve them, find out your progress, and finally check your progress. So what's your WIG? Don't be afraid! Just think positively and dream bravely!

It's normal for the human mind to wander(走神). This isn't always bad. Sometimes a wandering mind can lead to a new creation. However, wandering can also stop you from getting things done, or hurt your health. Don't worry. 76.
Doing Exercise and Activities
Slow down and let your mind focus on your breathing. 77 Once you lose interest in what you're doing, you can take a break from it. Go for a walk, do some exercise, take a shower or even lie down and think about something.
78
Do one task at a time. It won't slow you down. Instead, it keeps your mind focused and you'll be able to get more done quickly: While doing tasks, don't look around from time to time. If there's something keeping your mind wandering, allow yourself a spare time to worry, think or plan. 79
Controlling Worrying Thoughts
Writing down or sharing your worries helps to get them out of your head. 80 But if you face it bravely and try your best to solve it, these worrying thoughts will slowly go away. And it's okay if things still don't work out. There are always things we can't change. So just accept it.
