阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Four Dream Holidays
★See a Penguin
This is a once-in-a-lifetime holiday in the snow and ice of the Antarctica. You can see animals and birds you only see on TV or in zoos. The trip starts in South Africa and finishes in Western Australia. You travel on a Russian ship, Kapitan Khlebnikov, and the holiday lasts for just under a month.
★Go on Safari
This holiday is a trip to see wild animals with a difference. You travel by helicopter (直升飞机) over parts of Kenya, listening to music as you fly, and then you sleep under the African stars in a comfortable bed. There’s another trip in a hot-air balloon, which gives you a second chance to see wild animals. The best moment is the Elephant Watch in Samburu, where your experienced guide can tell you all about these amazing animals.
★Live like Robinson Crusoe
If you dream of life on a quiet island, then this is the holiday for you. The island of Quilalea is off the coast of Mozambique and you can only see turtles (海龟) and a few tourists there. You may live like Robinson Crusoe: watch the turtles, go fishing, or travel in a boat to another island to have a picnic.
★Fly High
This is probably the most expensive holiday in the world. You can go on a flight into space and travel around the Earth in a spaceship — if you have the money! The only problem with this holiday is the six-day training course before you take the trip. You travel above the Earth for between 30 and 90 minutes and you get a beautiful view of our green and blue planet.

I grew up in the Philippines. When I was fifteen years old I moved to Chicago with my family. When I was in the Philippines, I attended a small all-girl private school. While in Chicago I went to a public senior high school. It was a big change for me. The school was new, everyone was different, and people there were also diverse. I had never met so many kinds of people in just one place. I was scared during the first day of school. I didn’t know anyone. I got lost since the school was huge. I really didn’t know what to do. I just wanted to cry. Luckily, a girl of my age came to me.
“Are you in trouble?” she asked me smilingly.
At first I was too shy to say anything. But she looked very kind. “I’m lost. I can’t find my classroom,” I said.
“Don’t worry. Let me help you, ” said the girl.
So I told the girl where I was going. Luckily, she just knew that place and she took me there.
On the way, the girl said she was a new student too and asked about me. When she knew I just came to the city, she said I could turn to her whenever I needed help. I was really thankful hearing that.
Before the girl left, she said with a smile, “I’m sure you’ll make some new friends here soon.” What she said gave me great courage and confidence.
In the following weeks, I made a lot of new friends and met so many people. My friends took me out to movies, road trips and concerts in our free time.
I must thank the girl I met on my first day in that school. She made me believe people there were nice.

TikTok has reported it will block young users on the social networking platform from using certain beauty filters (滤镜) on photographs.
The filters allow users to edit photos and do things like making people’s skin look clearer, their eyes a little bigger or their lips a little fuller. Some filters also allow users to change their skin colour, and it can be hard to see when a photograph has been edited in this way.
People under the age of 18 will be blocked from using these filters. Some of them are created by users and others are made by the app. TikTok posted the changes after a report by Internet matters, a children’s online safety organisation. The organisation found that these beauty filters could be harmful to children’s mental health because they put young people under pressure to look a certain way. This can harm children’s self-esteem (自尊) and cause worry, experts say.
Christine Grahm from TikTok said on LinkedIn, “If our users don’t feel safe, they won’t bring their true selves to TikTok and the platform just wouldn’t be the same.” One TikTok user told The Guardian in 2022 that she had considered getting cosmetic surgery (美容手术) after a period of using beauty filters on the app.
Fun filters that allow children to add dog noses or rabbit ears to images will still be OK to use. One problem with the ban (禁令) is that not all users enter their real ages when signing up to TikTok. The company said it would soon be trying out new machine learning systems that could help find out when users had entered the incorrect age, but it is under pressure to stop under 13s from using the platform by giving untrue dates of birth.
Children’s safety organisations want all social media sites to do more to make the platforms safe spaces for young people.
28. What will TikTok do about certain beauty filters for young users?
A. Test their safety. B. Post their advantages.
C. Ban the use of them. D. Increase their users.
29. What is the influence of the beauty filters?
A. It encourages creativity. B. It makes children worried.
C. It develops self-esteem. D. It stops children from communicating.
30. Why is Christine Grahm mentioned in Paragraph 4?
A. To show the harm of beauty filters. B. To make readers more interested.
C. To warn children to stay away from Internet. D. To introduce cosmetic surgery.
31. What problem does TikTok have with the ban?
A. Users might not like it. B. It’s hard to check how old users are.
C. Users might misunderstand the rule. D. It doesn’t receive support from parents.

Researchers in Australia, who studied 1,500 people and their lifestyles, have found that having good friends can help you live longer. An American study of 10,000 students, over a period of 35 years, also found that if you make more friends than the average (普通的) person at school, you'll receive a higher salary (工资) in later life. People need good social skills at work to manage people and work in a team successfully. These are the same skills we use to make friends at school.
On average, teenagers aged between 15 and 17 have 500 “friends” on their favourite social networking site. Adults have 130. So if you believe this research, you might live for a long time and be very rich.
However, according to Professor Robin Dunbar from the University of Oxford, it probably won't make any difference. Dunbar studied the number of messages between users of a popular social networking website, each of whom had between 200 and 2,000 friends. He found that they always communicate with a maximum (最大量) of 150 people.
Among these 150, Dunbar believes that around five people are close friends. You've most likely known them for a long time; they are probably old friends and you share all your good and bad experiences with them. Then there are ten more friends. Although they’re close to you, you may not keep in touch with them every week. Next there are 35 people who you might spend time with because of a shared interest. You aren't close. And finally, there's a large group of 100. You see or speak to these people at least once a year, but you don't know them well. Beyond this number, Dunbar says, it's impossible to make any relationship meaningful.
If you have a lot of online “friends”, try this experiment: First take away anyone you haven't been in touch with for a year. Then remove people you can't remember and, finally, take away friends who you wouldn't mind losing touch with. How many do you have left? How many of these people are actually good friends? According to the research, these are the only people that really matter.
32. What are the studies in the first paragraph mainly about?
A. Some useful advice on how to make friends. B. Some social skills you may need at work.
C. The advantages of having a lot of friends. D. The number of friends you should have.
33. What is Robin Dunbar's attitude towards the studies?
A. Disagreeable. B. Unclear. C. Hopeful. D. Careless.
34. What does the text mainly want to show?
A. It's more important to have good friends than lots of friends.
B. Friends are sometimes more important than family.
C. There is a lot of research on the influence of friends.
D. You need to spend more time with your friends.
35. In which part of a newspaper can we read the text?
A. Nature. B. Technology. C. Lifestyle. D. Education.
【答案】32. C 33. A 34. A 35. C

●Stay warm
____39____ “If I go to bed in my sports wear, all I need to do is throw on the outer layers and head out the door,” says Tina Muir, a half-marathoner. She also leaves her alarm on the other side of the room to help push herself up.
● ____40____
“I view waking up early as tearing off a Band-Aid (创可贴),” says Michele Gonzalez, a running coach. “It’s gonna hurt for a bit.” Her advice is relatively simple. “You just have to set the alarm early and start doing it,” she says. “After a few days, you’ll be tired earlier at night and will start going to bed earlier.
此处为固定搭配spend time on sth.,意为“花费时间在某事上”,故填on。

此处与前面的easy to fall into并列,结构为“be + 形容词 + to do”,主语it(指代cycle)与get out of之间是主动形式表被动含义,所以用形容词challenging,意为“有挑战性的、困难的”。

故填a。

We left very early in the morning, planning to be at our new home before classes began. If everything had gone perfectly, there would have been time for me to find my new classes, meet people, and even warm up before the tryouts.
However, while we were driving to my new home, our car suddenly stopped working on the highway under the hot sun. We waited anxiously for two hours for a rescue, only to spend another two hours arranging for a rental car. The whole time, my heart was pounding with worry, afraid that I would miss the tryouts.
Finally, we arrived at the new school. The moment I got out of the cat, I rushed towards the headmaster’s office to report, out of breath. “Oh, Tina I think you’re too late for the tryouts. Coach Turner said they’d end at 3 pm,” said Headmaster Morgan. She glanced up at the clock and shook her head, “They’re almost finished.” Feeling defeated, I bit my lower lip and held back tears. All of a sudden, I saw the latest soccer magazine in my backpack. At that moment, my favorite words from the magazine rang in my head good player never gives up, even when the game seems lost.”

【答案】One possible version:
“I m so sorry, but our car broke down”, I explained to the headmaster. I know I’m late, but I’ve been playing soccer my whole life. “This means everything to me. Please give me a chance to show what I can do.” I stared at the headmaster and begged, holding onto a tiny hope. Headmaster Morgan looked hesitant at first, her brows furrowed. But seeing the determination in my eyes, she let out a sigh and picked up the phone. “Coach Turner? There’s a determined girl here.” My heart raced as Headmaster Morgan finally pointed outside. “Go to the field quickly!”
“Three minutes,” Coach Turner said, rolling a soccer ball toward me. Without hesitation, I sprang into action. The wind rushed past my ears, and I could only hear the intense beating of my own heart. Sweat dripped down my neck as three defenders charged. I passed right, moved left, and then shot with my left foot. Finally, the ball flew over the goalkeeper’s hands, and went into the net. The coach’s eyes widened in surprise. I held my breath, waiting for his decision. “Welcome to the team,” Coach Turner announced, and I couldn’t help breaking into a huge smile. I knew it was my love for soccer that kept me from giving up.

第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Four Dream Holidays
21. What can you see in Go on Safari holiday?
A. Outer space. B. Wild animals. C. Sea turtles. D. Russian ships.
22. If you prefer a holiday on a quiet island, which would be the best choice?
A. See a Penguin. B. Go on Safari.
C. Live like Robinson Crusoe. D. Fly High.
23. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To explain dreams. B. To share geography knowledge.
C. To introduce different animals. D. To attract tourists.

I grew up in the Philippines. When I was fifteen years old, I moved to Chicago with my family.
24. What does the underlined word “diverse” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A. Different. B. Confident. C. Serious. D. Bad.
25. Why did the girl come to the author?
A. She knew the school well. B. She wanted to offer help.
C. She needed some help. D. She wanted a new friend.
26. What did the author think of what the girl said before she left?
A. Worrying. B. Unbelievable. C. Encouraging. D. Interesting.
27. What do we know about the author in the following weeks?
A. She failed to make new friends. B. She missed her parents very much.
C. She had difficulty doing her schoolwork. D. She really enjoyed her life.

TikTok has reported it will block young users on the social networking platform from using certain beauty filters (滤镜) on photographs
D
A It's more important to have good friends than lots of friends.
B. Friends are sometimes more important than family.
C. There is a lot of research on the influence of friends.
D. You need to spend more time with your friends.
35. In which part of a newspaper can we read the text?
A. Nature. B. Technology. C. Lifestyle. D. Education.

There’s a reason why so many people love running early in the morning. ____36____ Not only do you begin your day more relaxed and refreshed, but you’ve also started things off with an achievement. If you think you’re ready to take advantage of the benefits of a morning run, here are four suggestions from the professionals.
●Find a friend, and be gentle with yourself
Finding a partner to run with will give you someone to be responsible for, and make it much harder to miss the run. It’s also important to remember that this is a process, and you can’t expect to do it perfectly from the beginning. ____37____ “Once you get into the habit, it becomes natural and actually starts your day,” says Sheri Piers, top American female finisher at the 2012Boston Marathon.

With a practice of more than 20, 000patients, Metzl’s days are quite packed, so early morning runs are a must. ____38____ “Sometimes you have to just do it, and remember that the inspiration will come later,” he says.
This makes the early alarm feel a bit more manageable.”
A. It has major benefits.
B. Accept and manage the pain.
C. Have a training plan at the beginning.
D. Even if you have a failure or two, keep at it.
E. It’s just like warming up your car in the winter.
