Have you ever thought about talking with people working in space? This is something Ezekiel Wheeler from the US began to try when he was 8. Now, as a homeschooled 13-year-old boy, he made a device (设备) by himself to help others speak to astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).
When Wheeler was young, he was very interested in science. When he turned 8, he decided he wanted to talk with the ISS using ham radio

So he 3D-printed a desktop satellite tracker.
The program helped Wheeler win second prize in the 2024 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, one of the top middle school STEM competitions in the US.
Wheeler wasn’t only interested in talking to the astronauts himself. He wanted to let his friends talk to them too. For him, science is everything. “I like to face challenges (挑战),” he said. “I really want to get a result that will work.”

根据上文“Zhao Yang, a 24-year-old Chinese girl, studies in Strasbourg, France.” 故填She。
故填with。
故填found。
根据“Zhao plays traditional pipa music most of the time, she still wants to try something new.” 故填Although/Though。
故填a。
故填first。
故填more popular。
根据“it’s great …”可知,此处考查固定句型“it’s+形容词+ to do sth.”,意为“做某事是…… 故填to see。

Have you ever thought about talking with people working in space? This is something Ezekiel Wheeler from the US began to try when he was 8. Now, as a homeschooled 13-year-old boy, he made a device (设备) by himself to help others speak to astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).
When Wheeler was young, he was very interested in science. When he turned 8, he decided he wanted to talk with the ISS using ham radio
To make this happen, a ham radio was not enough. He also needed a satellite tracker He made his own tracker with a 3-meter-long antenna (天线), and two more small trackers made of Lego. “I wanted to use a fun, practical way to teach students about electrical (电机) engineering,” said Wheeler.
