Plastic pollution is a big problem for our planet, especially for ocean life. Every year, millions of tons of plastic waste end up in the oceans. This garbage harms sea animals in many ways. For example, sea turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and eat them. Whales and sharks can get hurt by plastic bottles or nets.
A group of students from Green Middle School decided to do something to help. Last Saturday, they went to Sunny Beach for a clean-up activity. They brought gloves and bags, and spent the whole morning picking up plastic waste. “We found over 500 plastic bottles and 200 plastic bags,” said Li Ming, one of the students. “It was tiring but meaningful.”
After the clean-up, the students learned how to recycle the plastic they collected. They also made posters to tell people to reduce plastic use. “Small actions can make a big difference,” said their teacher. “If everyone stops littering and recycles more, our oceans will be cleaner.”
