教材版本:人教版(2019) 年级:高一 课型:读写课 具体授课内容:Book 1 Unit 3 Sports And Fitness Period 4 Write a page on the wellness book FITNESS Learning objectives By the end of this period, I will be able to: 1. clarify the author's problems, solutions and results and figure out the text structure; 2. analyze and identify the real reasons for the author's change, and make clear how to describe the change; 3. continue a story with the structure and expressions. FITNESS FITNESS Lead-in What’s the difference between them? What problem did Kayla have in the past? 5 Read the First Paragraph problem 5:2 diet: to eat normally for 5 days of the week, but only eat very little on the other two days. FITNESS What made Kayla change her thinking ? 7 Read the Second Paragraph a turning point problem FITNESS The past The present “Am I ?” Am I ?” “I want to three kilos.” “I the food I enjoyed.” “I want to two km in 8 minutes.”“I want to be able to do 30 push-ups.” “I added foods.” fat lose cut out run healthy Changes fit Comparison I always wanted to look like the slim girls on TV even though I knew that it was impossible. I worried about my weight and tried every new diet I read about online. I tried no-fat, low-fat, 5:2, only bananas, no bananas — I almost went bananas, too. Then I read an article that said instead of asking “Am I fat?” I should be asking “Am I fit?” I had no idea a letter could make such a difference! Once I started thinking about fitness rather than weight, things began to change. Instead of saying “I want to lose three kilos”, I would say “I want to run two kilometres in eight minutes” or “I want to be able to do 30 push-ups”. Rather than cutting out the foods I enjoyed, I added healthy foods to my meals. I could still have a burger now and then, but I would add a salad or an apple. Finally, I stopped comparing myself with actresses and models and looking for things that were wrong with my face or body. Instead, I made a list of the things I liked about myself. By being positive about myself and my body, I became both happier and healthier. Circle the words and phrases to show similarities and differences. FITNESS Deep Thinking Can these changes finally solve Kayla’s probelm? 12 Changes/Solution problem Positive Result a turning point FITNESS Deep Thinking Why does the writer use "Going" instead of "Being Positive"? Going Positive What do you think about the relationship between thinking and behavior? 14 Sports and Fitness Kayla stopped comparing herself with others Kayla become more positive and happier behavior thinking Sports and Fitness How to become positive? Thinking and behaviors can influence each other. To think positively and behave positively Writing:continue the story(Running Shapes Me) I always used to stay inside all the time—either sitting at the computer, being a “sofa potato,” or buried in books for exams. My back hurt badly, I could barely sleep, and doctors even told me I’d need an operation if I kept living this way—which almost scared me. Everything changed when... __________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ Problem a turning point Solution Result Tips (Around 80 words) 1.Follow the writing structure "problem→turning-point→changes→result" 2.Describe changes (within 3-4 sentences) and results (within 1-2 sentences) 3.Use at least 2 comparison expressions from the reading text. ( instead, …; instead of; rather than; but/however/though; still) FITNESS Peer Editing Exchange and Evaluate 1. Does the writer apply a good structure? (“problem→ turning-point →changes→result” ) 2. Does the writer apply the comparison words and expressions 3. Does the writer make any spelling mistakes? 4. Does the writer make any grammar errors? CHECKLIST 5’ 5’ 5’ 5’ full mark 20’ What are good points in your partner’s writing? FITNESS Turning point + Changes Everything changed when I chose to run instead of following the doctors’ advice on surgery.I was exhausted after 5 minutes and almost gave up, but instead of quitting, I did 10-minute jogs after dinner and walked rather than forcing myself to keep running when tired. When I compare my current ability to run with how I felt that first day, it’s clear how much I’ve improved.A few months later, my back finally recovered! FITNESS Now I still run 10 to 12 laps daily. Physically, no more back pain; mentally, rather than letting my mind wander, I listen to English while jogging. This run has become my most precious relaxing time. Positive Results FITNESS FITNESS SPORTS and FITNESS Think positively Behave positively Assignment Polish your writing after class. FITNESS $
