Do you eat lots of fruits and vegetables every day? If you do, you’re making a smart choice for your health! But it’s also important to eat different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Scientists find that choosing foods of different colors helps us stay healthy. This eating habit is called the “rainbow diet”.
Why are colors important? That’s because they are from special chemicals (化学物质) in food. These chemicals not only give fruits and vegetables their colors, but also have different effects. For example, chemicals in carrots give them an orange colour and improve joint (关节) health, while chemicals in red tomatoes help keep our hearts strong.
The most important colour groups are yellow, white, red, orange, purple-blue, and green. Each of them is useful, so we should eat at least one or two fruits or vegetables from each colour group every day.
________ For breakfast, you could have porridge or milk with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. That’s red, yellow, and purple-blue. For lunch, you could have a salad with lettuce, carrots, purple cabbage, corn, and red peppers. That’s green, orange, purple-blue, yellow, and red. Then for dinner, you could have cauliflower (花菜). It’s white. In this way, you can eat all the different colour groups in one day.
In short, nature makes it easy for us to stay healthy. Just follow the rainbow diet, and your plate will become both beautiful and healthy. Remember: the more colors you eat, the healthier you’ll be!
32. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By using a saying. B. By asking a question. C. By telling a story. D. By giving an example.
33. Which of the following is the best for “________”?
A. Why do we need different colors?
B. What colors are good for our health?

34. What can we know from the passage?
A. In the breakfast example, bananas are described as a green fruit.

Dear Henry,
I’m glad that you are interested in our School Safety Education Day. Let me tell you something about it.
It was held on September 15 from 8:00 to 17:00 in the school hall. There were different kinds of activities. We put on a short play to show the importance of following safety rules, and also made colorful signs. Then we learned about first aid and emergency numbers. Everyone realized how important it is to be careful in our daily life.
I think it was very meaningful because it helped us stay safe.
Yours,
