so many vegetables如此多的蔬菜;many vegetables许多蔬菜;as many as vegetables结构错误;as many vegetables as尽可能多的蔬菜。根据“so that he would not have to buy so many in the market.”可知,此处指为了不用去市场买蔬菜,他要种尽可能多的蔬菜。此句为“as+形容词+名词+as sb can/could”“尽可能……”结构。故选D。

“I am not an American,” Mark Twain (1835—1910) once said. “I am the American.”
He had good reason to say so. A Nobel winner in literature, US playwright Eugene O’Neill called him “the true father of American literature”. “Mark Twain is all of our grandfather,” agreed William Faulkner, another Nobel winner.
Twain is someone Americans are taught to love. Older relatives, English teachers and the media often praise him. But when you actually take the time to read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which was first published 140 years ago, you will find that his work is more wonderful than you could ever have imagined.
The novel describes a young boy named Tom Sawyer growing up in a small town along the Mississippi River. He explores the countryside on a riverboat with his friends, falls in love with girls, starts secret clubs and searches for treasure. Twain’s idea of childhood is magical—a time of imagination, wonder and, of course, adventure.
Most importantly, through the eyes of Tom Sawyer, Twain cleverly makes fun of the US culture. For example, Tom hates going to church, and Twain uses Tom to make fun of its old traditions.
Twain’s writing is full of these kinds of critical (批评的) points about the culture and the society of the US at the time. That’s why he is so beloved in the US—he wasn’t afraid to express his opinions, and he did so clearly.
For instance, Twain didn’t like US wars abroad, and he wrote openly about it in a newspaper article in 1900. He also believed strongly in women’s right to vote in elections (选举) and gave a famous speech on the subject, called “Votes for Women”, in 1901.
“Tom was a glittering hero once more—the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” Twain wrote in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. But he could just as well have been describing himself.
30.Why are two Nobel winners mentioned at the beginning?

B.To show their close relationship with Mark Twain.
C.To show how American literature developed.
D.To show Mark Twain’s influence.

D.It cleverly makes fun of the US culture.
32.How does the writer show Twain was fearless to voice his opinions?
A.By giving a speech. B.By showing numbers.

C
We all love our parents and they love us too. However, misunderstandings can still happen if we don’t understand each other’s ways of expressing love—a challenge especially common in parent-child relationships. So, it is important to express our love in the right way.
The way someone expresses love is called their “love language”. In the book The 5 Love Languages, Gary Chapman introduces five key love languages that people use to express and experience love: words of affirmation (肯定), quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. It helps us understand how different people show and receive love.
Because of generational differences (代际差异), our love languages are usually different from our parents’. For example, my parents show love through acts of service, like cooking for me. I, however, prefer to express love through words of affirmation. This difference created a big disagreement between us at the beginning. I would try to talk to them, but they wouldn’t answer. They would try to help me by cooking, but I would get impatient. Things changed when I began to recognize their purposes.
To connect with your parents, speak their love language. If they value quality time, spend more time with them. If they like receiving gifts, give them something meaningful. If they love words of affirmation, praise them. This way, they can recognize and accept your love more easily.
Avoid forcing them to accept a love language they don’t understand, like always asking for hugs if they’re uncomfortable with it. Instead, learn to speak their language. This will lead to better and faster results in your relationship.
Understanding and accepting your parents’ love language can help bridge the gap between generations. It’s not just about expressing love in your own way; it’s about recognizing and respecting how your parents express their love. By doing so, you can keep a deeper and more meaningful connection with your parents. Remember, love is best expressed when it is understood.
34.According to the first paragraph parent-child relationships may be better if ________.

Whether it’s changing jobs, taking care of a sick parent, or moving to a new place, disruptions (混乱) in life can make it hard to maintain moment-by-moment focus and well-being (健康). Long-term goals remain important, but long-term focus can be hard. Daily or weekly habits supporting your long-term goals can keep you on track even when it’s hard to think ahead.
41

Second, we need time for professional reflection. For example, you may sit down on a Sunday night and write down the most important to-dos in the coming week. 43 Instead, it directs your focus to what’s most important. Simple, daily or weekly reflection case make a meaningful difference in productivity and focus.
A third area is building and maintaining relationships. It’s important to manage our relationships well. For us, right now, the primary relationships are with our parents and teachers. 44 These sound like small things, but they matter a lot.
Finally, we all need to form good habits that encourage physical and mental health. Studies show that people who get at least two days of exercise per week are happier. 45
A.We also need to try making some time to spend with a friend or two.
B.Similarly, as little as 20 minutes of exercise can boost mood as well.

A.To show they were as successful as Mark Twain.
B.To show their close relationship with Mark Twain.
C.To show how American literature developed.
D.To show Mark Twain’s influence.

A.It describes how a young boy grows up.
B.It introduces the famous Mississippi River.
C.It presents a magical idea of childhood.
D.It cleverly makes fun of the US culture.
32.How does the writer show Twain was fearless to voice his opinions?
A.By giving a speech. B.By showing numbers.
C.By giving examples. D.By using sentences from his book.
33.What can we infer from the underlined sentence in the last paragraph?
A.Mark Twain was very much like Tom.
B.Mark Twain was a hero in American literature.
C.Mark Twain should be more confident in himself.
D.Mark Twain made a wonderful description of Tom.
A.parents and children love each other.
B.parents try to offer good services to children
C.parents can communicate in different languages
D.parents and children use the right way of expressing love
35.What can we learn from the passage?
A.The writer and his parents like the same kind of food.
B.The writer expressed love in speech more than in action.
C.Parents can easily accept the way their children show love.
D.Children’s language of love is always similar to their parents’.
36.What does the underlined phrase “bridge the gap” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Build a real bridge between two places.
B.Remember happy moments with parents.
C.Give expensive gifts to family members.
D.Reduce differences and improve connections.
37.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A.To introduce a book about family love.
B.To explain how to choose perfect gifts for parents.
C.To compare ways of expressing love between generations.
D.To stress the importance of understanding different love languages.
D
38.What is a siphon?

Whether it’s changing jobs, taking care of a sick parent, or moving to a new place, disruptions (混乱) in life can make it hard to maintain moment-by-moment focus and well-being (健康). Long-term goals remain important, but long-term focus can be hard. Daily or weekly habits supporting your long-term goals can keep you on track even when it’s hard to think ahead.
41
The first is personal reflection (反思). This can mean keeping diaries, documenting the funny things our friends say, and recording what we are thankful for a few times per week. 42

C.This helps you focus on not simply what’s most visible or immediate.
D.When setting these habits, focus on the following four areas.
