Passage 1
(25-26高二上·江苏·期中)I love digital spaces! I wouldn’t have written the previous sentence five years ago, though. 1 I had too many things to keep track of, and too many notifications demanding my attention! My digital world left me distracted and unorganized.
After reading about digital minimalism, I began to slowly declutter (清理) my digital life.
2
Before I organize digital mess, I ask myself the following question: What area of digital mess is causing you the most stress? I’ll spend 10-15 minutes responding to that question in my journal.
3 When I know what’s causing me stress, I take tiny action steps.
Previously, I tried to organize my digital life by using folders, file names and some cloud storage.
4 I felt less organized and more overwhelmed My approach to digital mess had to change. So, I used a few journal questions to create a new organizational system. By responding to them, I created an organizational system that works for me. For example, I archived (存档) most of my digital files. Now I use the search function to find what I need.
Keeping my house tidy is a lifelong process.
5 Typically, I spend 10-15 minutes a day organizing my digital spaces. To make decluttering fun, I listen to music or podcasts. Also, I use a checklist to help with my tasks.
Now, I become better organized.
A.It’s been a game changer!
B.Figure out what works for you.
C.The same goes for digital spaces.
D.In the past, I felt overwhelmed by my digital tools.
E.Writing helps me identify problem areas to focus on.
F.I’ve decluttered my digital life by keeping off devices.
G.But these approaches didn’t make sense for my work life.
Passage 2
(25-26高二上·云南昆明·期中)Body language refers to the nonverbal signals that people use to communicate. 1 They can impact how people judge you in the workplace. Becoming aware of the body language you use when communicating can help you ensure your message is being delivered effectively. Here are some steps you can take to improve your body language.
Make eye contact
It’s important to make eye contact with the person you’re speaking to. 2 A simple strategy to ensure you’re maintaining the right amount of eye contact is to look into the person’s eyes long enough to take note of their eye color before looking away. This strategy ensures you make proper eye contact for a length of time that’s natural and comfortable to both parties.
Relax your shoulders
One step you can take to improve your body language is to relax your shoulders, allowing them to drop to a comfortable height. Shoulders that are too high can make you look nervous. 3 Be aware of where they are currently sitting and allow them to drop to a natural position.
Nod from time to time
Nodding is a good way to show the person you’re speaking with that you’re listening and engaged in what they’re saying. 4 Also, it makes them know that you agree with or are interested in the message they’re sharing, which can help to increase their confidence.
Smile from the bottom of your heart
Smile when you’re first introduced to someone and throughout the conversation, when appropriate. Be aware of your facial expressions throughout the course of the conversation, as an expressionless face can often appear as an angry expression. 5
A.A sincere smile can brighten up the darkest day.
B.However, it’s important to avoid making too much.
C.Body language can be confusing in different cultures.
D.They include things like gestures, tone of voice, and eye contact.
E.It’s a good way to encourage them to continue what they’re saying.
F.Similarly, ones that are too low can give the impression that you’re sad.
G.Turning up the corners of your mouth slightly can give you a calm and pleasant look.
Passage 3
(25-26高二上·浙江衢州·期中)Many people have fallen into the habit of neglecting to express gratitude to others and failing to take moments to appreciate the invisible yet wonderful aspects of life. 1 However, there are several effective tips to help cultivate a habit of gratitude.
Practice mindfulness. It is highly beneficial for expressing gratitude, as it enables individuals to fully engage with and appreciate the present moment, according to Michelle Maidenberg, a therapist in private practice in Harrison, New York, who also teaches a graduate course in Mindfulness Practice at New York University. 2
Keep a gratitude journal. 3 The idea is that you’ll get in the habit of noticing those things you appreciate more regularly throughout the day and more frequently.
4 Notice the things that are around you that are important to you or meet your values. For example, if you love nature, take a minute to enjoy when the sun is out.
Give back. Practicing gratitude can also be giving back through charity work and service for others. Gratitude isn’t just about speaking, it’s in the doing. One example is to look for the good that can come out of a crisis, such as collecting supplies for people affected by a hurricane.
Reframe. Reframing your mindset is a powerful way to bring more gratitude into your life. 5 For example, instead of saying or thinking “I have to go to work today,” reframe it as “I get to go to work today and use my skills and talents.”
A.So practicing mindfulness can help.
B.Write a thank-you note to someone every week.
C.Take the time to appreciate what you truly enjoy.
D.Toward the end of the day write down your daily gratitude.
E.And you do this by changing the way you speak or the way you think.
F.Avoid discussing negative experiences to focus only on positive things.
G.This lack of appreciation harms relationships and blocks life’s small pleasures.
Passage 4
Recently, I gave my 88-year-old grandfather a call on his birthday. He was as energetic as ever. I know he’s a disciplined man who relies on very strict routines. 1
As a matter of fact, you don’t need to look at scientific research on habits to figure out what to do. 2 You’ll see the patterns. Look at the good things they do and copy them. That’s what I’ve been doing with my grandfather.
At first, I think you need to decide what habit you want to form. When you know what you want, it’s important to know when you want to do it. I often wake up at 6 a.m., do a three-mile run and have breakfast before I go to work. The exercise may seem a bit challenging but you can adjust the distance to suit yourself. 3 For lifting weights, my goal is to do it for at least 30 minutes each time. For my runs, however, it’s a bit more flexible because it depends on how my legs feel.
Most people think it takes 66 days on average to form a habit. 4 “In my experience, it takes a week to get used to doing something regularly. So if you wake up at the same time every day for a whole week, you can count on yourself to do it every day from that point.”
5 Why set the bar low? You can make it if you go all out.
A.That’s great advice.
B.Let’s make that a good habit
C.However, my grandfather will disagree.
D.I think you need some heavy-duty advice.
E.But I realized I never asked him about his secret.
F.Besides, I like to measure my habits whenever possible.
G.Just look at what a healthy family member does if you have one.
Passage 5
How to Stay Safe Online
It’s no secret that the internet is home to some shady characters, but staying safe online doesn’t require you to turn your internet off. Instead, stay mindful and take a look at these easy tips on internet safety.
1
When it comes to online safety, it goes without saying that you should never share your passwords, banking information, or address online. Keep in mind that identity theft isn’t the only risk. 2 For example, information about your relationships could be used to figure out answers to your security questions or even give hackers (黑客) a tip-off when it comes to guessing your password.
Double-check any links before you click.
When checking your email or looking through social media, make sure you know and trust any links before you click on them. One way to tell if a link is safe is to run a mouse over it. 3 Check to make sure the preview link matches the site it should be from. You can verify (证实) the correct site link by googling the company name.
Create and use complex passwords.
You should always use complex passwords to improve internet safety. If you need some help coming up with a secure password, here are some tips. Make it at least 15 characters long-longer, if possible. 4 Don’t use sequences of numbers or letters, like “qwerty.”
Back up your data.
Most Macs and PCs have the option to let you back up your data, and it’s worthwhile taking the time to do it every so often. Data backups can be a lifesaver if your computer gets infected with a virus. 5
A.Be careful who you chat with.
B.Mix up letters, numbers, and symbols.
C.Don’t share your personal information.
D.This will show a preview of the full link.
E.This tip includes links sent to you by friends.
F.You can restore your computer to its original state.
G.Some details are riskier to share than you’d expect.
Passage 6
Forget your keys again? Can’t memorize what the exam will cover? Memory troubles are no big deal. You can fix them with simple strategies. 1
Strategy 1: Make meaningful connections
When you’re remembering new information, even random, unconnected facts, the brain links details to stored information. So, the easiest way is to make it meaningful by connecting to what you know and making sense within context. 2 For example, people find it easier to remember new vocabulary if they translate concepts into their own words.
Strategy 2: Space out your study sessions
When you’re cramming for a test, spacing out sessions where you’re reviewing foreign language vocabulary or memorizing flashcards can help your brain store memories more efficiently. 3 Spaced repetition works because new information initially goes to short-term memory and consolidating it into long-term memory takes time and happens during rest.
Strategy 3: Engage your senses
When you want to remember a moment, engaging your senses during learning contributes to forming vivid recollections of an experience. 4 To find them, you must use your memory to compete with all the other times you’ve put them down. Next time you set your keys aside, focus on the unique aspects of this particular moment, like the sights or smells. These sensory experiences will create a distinct memory to aid later recall.
Strategy 4: Journey through the memory palace
The memory palace is an ancient technique that, studies show, can enhance recall. It is effective especially in remembering grocery lists. 5 As you walk through it, create an association between the items to be bought and specific spots. Then imagine yourself “walking” your route — each spot reminds you of the item.
A.They’re tricky in diverse aspects.
B.You might as well train your senses.
C.Take misplacing your keys for instance.
D.This can be done through personal narratives.
E.But they depend on what you want to remember.
F.Start by picturing a familiar space like your home.
G.You need to revisit information at increasing time gaps.
Passage 7
Spending time in the sun can be beneficial. 1 This is because the sun causes changes in the body that require more effort, leading to tiredness.
What can you do to safely spend time in the sun? Here’s some advice.
Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink water.
Drink water before you even feel thirsty. 2 And remember to drink water before you get into the sun as well as throughout the time you’re spending outside.
While electrolyte beverages (电解质饮品) can be useful if you’re sweating a lot, it’s best to drink water when you’re out in the sun.
Protect your skin from sunburn.
Use sunscreen (防晒霜) that has an SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply it every two hours, or after swimming or sweating when you’re outside. Also, wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and hats. 3 This is when the sun’s rays are strongest and can cause the most skin damage.
Don’t lie in the sun just to darken your skin, which speeds up the aging of your skin and increases your risk for all types of skin cancer.
4
Wear lightweight and loose clothing, drink a cold beverage, go for a swim in the pool, use a fan and seek shade. This can greatly assist in lowering your body temperature, allowing you to expend less energy on regulating your body heat.
Watch for signs that you need to see a doctor.
The best way to tell if you’re just tired or experiencing more serious signs of heat-related issues is to see how you feel once you’re out of the heat. 5 If you’re still feeling ill within 15 minutes, you should seek medical care.
A.Cool your body off.
B.These all require extra energy from your body.
C.Avoid being in the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
D.Get into a cool environment and drink lots of liquids.
E.When you do feel thirsty, drink more than you think you should.
F.None of this is meant to suggest that you stay indoors away from the sun’s rays.
G.However, after hours in the sun, even when relaxing, you might feel extra sleepy.
Passage 8
It has become the latest fashion among Chinese college students, who spend as little money as possible to travel to as many places as they can during the weekend. 1 For many university students or recent graduates with limited budgets and time, the desire to explore the world and travel independently is a fundamental motivation.
“Dazi” travel. Unlike friendships, the concept of dazi is centered on short-term, almost superficial, companionship. The idea is simple — random individuals come together to take part in an activity they all enjoy. Social media platforms have featured a wave of searches for travel dazi. 2 There is a great deal of luck involved in the journey.
City Walk. In recent years, City Walk has become increasingly popular among Chinese people. City Walk, a form of slow-paced exploration of a city on foot, allows people to discover the hidden charms and unique aspects of their hometowns or the cities they visit. 3 Another factor is the appeal of uncovering the rich cultural and historical heritage within cities.
4 It has emerged as a new trend among young holidaymakers in China. Going against the tide of flocking to well-known yet generally jam-packed tourist destinations on vacation, a growing number of holidaymakers in China tend to spend their leisure time at lesser-known resorts to seek unique, relaxed holiday experiences.
A seal-collecting tour. It refers to the practice of tourists collecting various seals from scenic spots, specialty stores, and other locations. 5 For enthusiasts of seals, those printed with logos from different scenic spots hold significant memorial value. Using seals to record each place you have visited, every time you open your collection, it helps you relive your travel experiences, which often carry more emotional value than simply flipping through photos.
A.Reverse tourism.
B.Go for a no-plan trip.
C.And they rarely take a break or even sleep.
D.And it creates unique travel memories and obtains pleasure.
E.However, traveling with strangers is like opening a mystery box.
F.One reason for its popularity is the desire for a break from the fast-paced and stressful modern life.
G.The walks involve exploring the city on foot to discover historic landmarks, cultural sites and unique spots.
Passage 9
(25-26高二上·四川内江·期中)Napping (小憩) during the day is an ancient custom that is practiced worldwide. Short naps, which last from 20 to 30 minutes at the right time, can benefit vitality and overall health in countless ways. Short naps can strengthen mental functioning and memory, as well as improve energy, attention and reaction time. 1 Because napping seems to improve creative thinking, some companies have attempted to introduce napping rooms.
What’s more, it appears the brain uses nap time to process information gathered throughout the day. 2 A study revealed that short naps also helped people become more confident and sensible, which resulted in better focus and efficiency at work. Napping may also lead to an improved ability to learn new skills, such as a golf swing. This is because these memories or skills are strengthened in the brain during sleep.
3 Studies show that more consistent sleep will help lower “fight or flight” chemicals in our bodies. As a result, our blood pressure and heart rates are normalized. Napping appears to help this process for some people.
4 One condition related to napping longer than 30 minutes is sleep inertia This can harm cognitive (认知的) function from several minutes up to half an hour. Long or late afternoon naps can lead to difficulties falling asleep during the night. 5
So, to maximize benefits while reducing risks, please keep naps short in the early afternoon to avoid sleep inertia and nighttime sleep disorder.
A.But napping can come with drawbacks as well.
B.The reason for this phenomenon is mostly unknown.
C.Therefore, that appears to improve problem-solving abilities.
D.Napping should not serve as an option for enough nighttime rest.
E.Short naps are also linked to increased productivity and creativity.
F.Napping can also be connected to a reduced risk of heart diseases.
G.Besides, for those aged 60 and up, longer naps may increase the risk for heart diseases.
Passage 10
The Future of Daily Life: Tech That Will Change Us
(25-26高二上·河南新乡·期中)Technology is rapidly reshaping how we live, work and play in every corner of modern life. In the near future, our daily routines will look very different thanks to several exciting innovations.
One of the biggest changes will be in our living spaces. 1 Imagine your house recognizing your voice to adjust the temperature, turn on lights, and even order groceries when supplies run low. These systems will learn your habits over time, making life more convenient and energy-efficient.
Health monitoring will also take a big leap forward. New tools will let us monitor our health more closely without visiting doctors. For example, wearable devices may soon track not just your steps and heart rate, but also detect early signs of illnesses like diabetes (糖尿病) or heart disease. 2
Transportation is another area set for transformation. Self-driving cars are no longer a distant dream. Many companies are testing them on public roads. 3 They could also reduce traffic accidents caused by human error. Additionally, electric vehicles will become more affordable and widely available, helping to fight climate change.
However, with all these changes come challenges. 4 Protecting personal data will be more important than ever. There is also the risk that some jobs may be replaced by technology, leaving people unemployed.
5 By preparing for these challenges and enjoying the benefits, we can make sure that future technology improves our lives rather than causes harm. The key is to use innovation wisely and fairly for everyone in society.
A.Smart homes are already common today.
B.Privacy and job security are top concerns.
C.They’ll make daily travel safer and easier.
D.The future of tech depends on how we adapt
E.Smart homes will become even more intelligent.
F.People will spend less time on housework and more on hobbies.
G.This could help get earlier treatment, saving lives and cutting costs.
Passage 11
(25-26高二上·湖北襄阳·期中)Apart from our desiring for a long life, we also have a strong wish to stay young and full of energy. The aging process is an unavoidable part of life. 1 Here are some ways to help you stay young and energetic.
Your brain is the most important part of your body that should stay young and energetic. It is the part that controls the major organs of your body. Its health determines your mental condition and its youthfulness helps to keep your memory and intellect sharp. Your brain isn’t a muscle. 2 So you need to use your brain from time to time to keep its sharpness and to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Having an active social life can help keep your brain young. Some physical signs of aging are also connected with an inactive lifestyle. Joining in physical activity at least three times a week can help to delay the appearance of these signs. 3
Eating fish, particularly the ones that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, can help to give you a healthy mind and brain. Omega-3 also helps improve your mood (心情) and the health of your skin. 4 Eating fruits and vegetables is also a natural way to help keep you looking young, strong and lively.
5 They include quitting smoking and protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.
A.You can lose it if you don’t use it regularly.
B.However, man has discovered wise moves to delay it.
C.This can translate to less wrinkles and a youthful look.
D.These are some of the ways to stay young and energetic.
E.Your social life is of little importance to your youthful mental state.
F.Of course, there are many other ways that can delay the aging process.
G.Being physically active is also a way to reduce stress and to prevent disease risks.
Passage 12
(25-26高二上·河南濮阳·期中)To be funny is not just talent but a skill that can be learned. Many people believe humor is natural. Research, however, shows that funny people actually practice techniques. Being funny matters. 1 Yet most common advice on humor sounds vague (含糊的). Suggestions like “listen carefully” or “be surprising” leave people wondering how to use them in real life. Fortunately, researchers and comedians (喜剧演员) have provided practical strategies.
One of the easiest techniques is to give the opposite answer to yes/no questions. When people expect “yes”, a sudden “no” creates surprise and laughter. The magic is that the moment you give the opposite answer, you have surprised your audience, so they laugh. 2
The Rule of 3 is another useful method. 3 For example, “I love hot dogs, hamburgers, and handsome men.” The break in pattern catches attention and creates humor. Similarly, switching character roles in a story can also work. If the “serious” person suddenly acts silly, or the “weak” one becomes powerful, the change surprises the audience.
4 Jokes may fail if the punchline (妙语) is weak, but true experiences are relatable. That is why many comedians collect daily observations and later share them. If the story is not funny, it still has meaning; if it is funny, the effect is even stronger. In daily life, you can do the same: note down things that made you laugh and retell them naturally in conversation.
Finally, humor is also about attitude. When you are asked an awkward question, turning it into humor shows confidence. Even a simple word like “whatever” can shift the focus and make others laugh. 5 Anyone can become funnier through practice.
A.Then you can move on to your real story.
B.In short, humor is not a gift for only a few.
C.The real-life stories are often funnier than jokes.
D.It explains why they often make their jokes funny.
E.Practicing humor requires observing others’ mistakes carefully.
F.It builds a pattern with two normal items and ends with something unexpected.
G.It makes conversations easier, creates connection, and often reduces awkwardness.
Passage 13
How to Remember What You Read
Reading is important, but the next important step is to make sure that you remember what you’ve read! Memory is sometimes a tricky thing.
You may have just read the text, but the ideas, concepts and images may fly right out of your head. 1
Are you confused?
If the plot, character, or word usage is confusing for you, you likely won’t be able to remember what you read. 2 If you don’t understand what you’re reading, how would you remember it? There are a few things you can do — use a dictionary; look up the difficult words; consult a teacher...
Are you connected?
Does a character remind you of a friend? Does the setting make you want to visit the place? Does the book inspire you and make you want to read more? With some books, you may feel a connection right away. 3 How willing are you to make the connections happen?
Read it; hear it; be it!
Read the lines. Then, speak them out loud. And, put some characters into the words. When he was writing his novels, Charles Dickens would act out the stories of the characters. He’d make faces in the mirror and change his voice for each character. 4
How often do you read? If you read frequently, you’ll likely have an easier time remembering what you’re reading and what you’ve read. 5 As you make reading a regular part of your life, you’ll make more connections, stay more focused and understand the text much better. You’ll learn to enjoy literature as you remember what you read!
A.What’s your motivation?
B.Practice makes perfect.
C.It’s a bit like reading a foreign language.
D.Marking helps you remember what you read.
E.Here are a few tips for remembering what you read.
F.But other books require a bit more work on your part.
G.You can do the same thing when you are reading the text!
Passage 14
(25-26高二上·湖南衡阳·期中)Effective communication is the key factor in preventing and solving misunderstandings. Misunderstandings should be addressed early on to prevent them from getting worse. Whether it’s at work, in a relationship, with family members, or with strangers, you can always use the following set of tools to manage them. 1
Make sure you fully understand the other person’s perspective (观点) before responding. Listening carefully to them will help you identify any areas of confusion or misinterpretation. Try not to interrupt (打断) them before they have finished speaking. Afterwards, ask questions or restate the information to confirm that you’ve understood it correctly.
Trust and communicate openly.
Be honest in your communication. If you realize you have made a mistake or contributed to a misunderstanding, admit it and take responsibility for your actions. 2 . Chances are the other person is feeling the same as you. Give them trust and the opportunity to hear you.
Be respectful and open-minded.
Being willing to consider other perspectives and being open to new information will help you find common ground and reach a solution. When entering any conversation, always acknowledge that we all have different opinions. 3
Take a break and come back to the conversation later.
4 This will help you to recognize where to draw your boundaries and that sometimes it is preferable to be patient and solve a conflict with a calm mind.
Agree to disagree.
There isn’t always a common ground or a solution when people disagree. We don’t have to agree on everything. Diversity is a gift because each of us can bring value to the table thanks to those different perspectives and opinions. 5
A.Look for suggestions.
B.However, try not to take it personally.
C.Listen actively and confirm understanding.
D.Accepting those differences reduces hurt from the experience.
E.You’d better know these common causes and the possible results.
F.Even when disagreeing, respect the other person’s feelings and don’t be unkind.
G.If emotions run too high, step away and return to the conversation once emotions settle.
Passage 15
In winter, there is nothing more interesting than building a snowman with your family and friends.
Building a snowman step by step.
1 Dry snow that is soft isn’t the best type of snow for building a snowman. The best type of snow is heavier and a bit wet. Once you have the right type of snow, the next step is finding a flat area that will keep it nice and stable (稳定的). That way, your snowman will last the longest.
Next, it is time to roll snowballs. 2 If you are making the classic snowman with three parts, or three balls, the bottom one should be the largest, then the middle one, and the one on the top the smallest. This helps stop the snowman from falling. Then, add some snow between each part. 3
Finishing touches.
Now for another fun part: decorate! You can bring clothing from your house to decorate your snowman. And maybe prepare a carrot for a nose if you really want to keep it classic. 4 Take a step back and enjoy your hard work. And of course, don’t forget to take some pictures before it disappears!
One thing to keep in mind is to have fun with it. It’s not about perfection or about making the biggest snowman in the community. It’s about enjoying the snow and time spent with your loved ones. So, are you ready to build a snowman? 5 Gather your friends and just go for it! The snowman will melt (融化) after a while, but the memories you create will last a lifetime.
A.Roll balls in the same size.
B.This keeps the snowman stable.
C.Then your snowman is all dressed.
D.Start from the bottom and make your way up.
E.It’s all about waiting for the right type of snow.
F.Snowball fights can create beautiful pictures and memories.
G.If you are, go ahead and wear warm clothes before heading outside.

1.根据前文“Forget your keys again? Can’t memorize what the exam will cover? Memory troubles are no big deal. You can fix them with simple strategies.(又忘带钥匙了?记不住考试的内容?记忆问题没什么大不了的。你可以用简单的策略来解决它们)”指出生活中的一些记忆问题可通过简单策略解决;E项“But they depend on what you want to remember.(但它们取决于你想记住什么)”和前文构成转折关系,点明策略需根据记忆目标选择,引出下文不同场景的策略,选项中“they”代指上文提到的“ simple strategies”。故选E项。
2.根据前文“When you’re remembering new information, even random, unconnected facts, the brain links details to stored information. So, the easiest way is to make it meaningful by connecting to what you know and making sense within context.(当你记住新信息时,即使是随机的、不相关的事实,大脑也会将细节与储存的信息联系起来。
3.根据前文“When you’re cramming for a test, spacing out sessions where you’re reviewing foreign language vocabulary or memorizing flashcards can help your brain store memories more efficiently.(当你为了考试而临时抱佛脚时,在复习外语词汇或记忆卡片的时间间隔可以帮助你的大脑更有效地储存记忆)”以及后文“Spaced repetition works because new information initially goes to short-term memory and consolidating it into long-term memory takes time and happens during rest.(间隔重复之所以有效,是因为新信息最初进入短期记忆,巩固为长期记忆需要时间,而且需要在休息时进行)”可知,前文知提到时间间隔,后文提到了间隔重复,所以空处应提出间隔复习的具体操作方法,G项“You need to revisit information at increasing time gaps.(您需要在不断增加的时间间隔中重新访问信息)”符合文意。故选G项。
4.根据前文“When you want to remember a moment, engaging your senses during learning contributes to forming vivid recollections of an experience.(当你想记住一个时刻时,在学习过程中调动你的感官有助于形成对一段经历的生动回忆)”以及后文“To find them, you must use your memory to compete with all the other times you’ve put them down. Next time you set your keys aside, focus on the unique aspects of this particular moment, like the sights or smells.(为了找到它们,你必须用你的记忆来与其他所有你放下它们的时间竞争。下次你把钥匙放在一边的时候,把注意力集中在这个特殊时刻的独特方面,比如风景或气味)”可知,前文提出方法,后文用找到钥匙举例,所以C项“Take misplacing your keys for instance.(以放错钥匙为例)”符合文意,引出下文。故选C项。
5.根据前文“The memory palace is an ancient technique that, studies show, can enhance recall. It is effective especially in remembering grocery lists.(研究表明,记忆宫殿是一种古老的技术,可以增强记忆力。它在记忆购物清单方面尤其有效)”以及下文“As you walk through it, create an association between the items to be bought and specific spots. Then imagine yourself “walking” your route — each spot reminds you of the item.(当你走过它时,在要购买的物品和特定地点之间建立联系。然后想象自己“走”在你的路线上——每一个地点都会提醒你这件事。)”可知,前文介绍 “记忆宫殿法”,并指出其适用于记忆购物清单,后文分步说明记忆购物清单时如何构建记忆宫殿,F项“Start by picturing a familiar space like your home.(从想象一个熟悉的空间开始,比如你的家)”点明“记忆宫殿法”的第一步,与后文“as you walk through it”与“Then imagine yourself “walking” your route”衔接自然,完整呈现操作流程。故选F项。
【答案】1.G 2.E 3.C 4.A 5.D
1.上文“Spending time in the sun can be beneficial.(晒太阳有益健康。)”提出晒太阳有益;而空后转折“This is because the sun causes changes in the body that require more effort, leading to tiredness.(这是因为阳光会使身体产生一些变化,而这些变化需要消耗更多能量,进而导致疲劳。)” G“However, after hours in the sun, even when relaxing, you might feel extra sleepy.(然而,即便只是放松状态,长时间暴晒后你可能会格外困倦。)”

【答案】1.G 2.A 3.F 4.C 5.B

2.由上文“One of the easiest techniques is to give the opposite answer to yes/no questions. When people expect “yes”, a sudden “no” creates surprise and laughter. The magic is that the moment you give the opposite answer, you have surprised your audience, so they laugh. (最简单的技巧之一是对是非题给出相反的答案。当人们期待“是”的时候,突然的“不是”会带来惊喜和笑声。其中的奥秘在于,当你给出相反答案的那一刻,你已经让观众感到惊讶,所以他们会笑)”可知,本空应说明使用该技巧后的后续动作,衔接“让观众发笑”的效果。A 选项“Then you can move on to your real story. (然后你就可以继续讲你的真实故事了)”表示用相反答案制造幽默后,可自然过渡到核心内容,符合“技巧应用逻辑”,故选A。

4.由下文“Jokes may fail if the punchline is weak, but true experiences are relatable. That is why many comedians collect daily observations and later share them. (如果妙语不够精彩,笑话可能会失败,但真实的经历是能引起共鸣的。这就是为什么许多喜剧演员会收集日常观察到的事情,然后分享出来)”可知,本空应总述“真实故事”与“笑话”的对比,强调真实故事的优势。C选项“The real-life stories are often funnier than jokes. (真实的故事往往比笑话更有趣)”直接点明核心观点,下文紧接着解释原因并举例,衔接紧密,符合题意。故 C。
5.由下文“Anyone can become funnier through practice. (任何人都可以通过练习变得更幽默)”可知,本空应强调幽默不是少数人独有的。B选项“In short, humor is not a gift for only a few. (简而言之,幽默并不是少数人的天赋)”能引出下文“任何人都能通过练习掌握”,符合题意。故选B。

He’d make faces in the mirror and change his voice for each character.(查尔斯·狄更斯在写小说时,会把人物的故事表演出来。 G选项“You can do the same thing when you are reading the text!(你在阅读时也可以这样做!)”中“do the same thing”指代上文“act out the stories、make faces、change voice”,直接将名人案例转化为读者可操作的技巧,符合“沉浸式阅读”的段落主题。故选G项。
5.根据上文“How often do you read? If you read frequently, you’ll likely have an easier time remembering what you’re reading and what you’ve read.(你多久读一次书?如果你经常阅读,你可能会更容易记住正在读的和已经读过的内容。)”及下文“As you make reading a regular part of your life, you’ll make more connections, stay more focused and understand the text much better.(当你将阅读培养成生活中一项常规习惯时,你会建立更多知识关联,保持更集中的注意力,并且对文本的理解也会深刻得多)”可知,空格处需点明“频繁阅读”的核心原理——熟能生巧。
1.本段为第一个解决误解的方法,下文“Make sure you fully understand the other person’s perspective before responding. Listening carefully to them will help you identify any areas of confusion or misinterpretation... Afterwards, ask questions or restate the information to confirm that you’ve understood it correctly. (在回应之前,确保你完全理解对方的观点。认真倾听有助于你找出困惑或误解的地方……之后,通过提问或重述信息来确认你理解正确。)”围绕“倾听”和“确认理解”展开具体说明。需要一句点明该段核心方法的总起句。选项C“积极倾听并确认理解。”概括了下文“认真倾听和确认理解”的核心内容,作为段落主题句,完美统领全段内容。故选C。
2.本段主题为“Trust and communicate openly. (信任并坦诚沟通。)”,上文“Be honest in your communication. If you realize you have made a mistake or contributed to a misunderstanding, admit it and take responsibility for your actions. (沟通时要诚实。如果你意识到自己犯了错或导致了误解,要承认错误并为自己的行为负责。)”强调坦诚认错的重要性;下文“Chances are the other person is feeling the same as you. Give them trust and the opportunity to hear you. (对方很可能和你有同样的感受。给予他们信任,也给他们倾听你的机会。)”建议信任对方并给予表达空间。需要一句衔接“自身坦诚”与“信任对方”,且缓解沟通顾虑的句子。选项B“不过,尽量不要把事情个人化。”承接上文“主动认错”可能带来的心理负担,提醒不要过度纠结个人对错,进而自然引出下文“相信对方也有同感并给予表达机会”的建议,让坦诚沟通的逻辑更顺畅。故选B。
3.本段主题为“Be respectful and open-minded. (尊重他人,保持开放心态。)”,上文“Being willing to consider other perspectives and being open to new information will help you find common ground and reach a solution. When entering any conversation, always acknowledge that we all have different opinions.
4.本段主题为“Take a break and come back to the conversation later. (暂停对话,之后再回来沟通。)”,下文“This will help you to recognize where to draw your boundaries and that sometimes it is preferable to be patient and solve a conflict with a calm mind.
,上文“There isn’t always a common ground or a solution when people disagree. We don’t have to agree on everything. Diversity is a gift because each of us can bring value to the table thanks to those different perspectives and opinions.
1.根据下文“Dry snow that is soft isn’t the best type of snow for building a snowman. The best type of snow is heavier and a bit wet.(干燥且柔软的雪并不是建造雪人的最佳雪种。最好的雪种应该是较重且略带湿润的那种)”可知,本段后面提到“干软的雪不适合堆雪人;最佳的选择是稍重且湿润的雪”。E选项 “关键在于等待合适的雪”引出下文,点明第一步是挑选雪的类型。故选E。
2.根据下文“If you are making the classic snowman with three parts, or three balls, the bottom one should be the largest, then the middle one, and the one on the top the smallest. This helps stop the snowman from falling. Then, add some snow between each part.(如果你正在制作由三个部分组成的传统雪人(即三个球体),那么底部的那个球应该最大,其次是中间的那个,顶部的那个最小。
4.根据上文“Now for another fun part: decorate! You can bring clothing from your house to decorate your snowman. And maybe prepare a carrot for a nose if you really want to keep it classic.(接下来是另一个有趣的环节:装饰!你可以从家里拿出一些衣物来装饰你的雪人。如果真的想保持传统风格,或许还可以准备一根胡萝卜作为鼻子)”以及后文“Take a step back and enjoy your hard work.(退后一步,好好享受你的辛勤付出吧)”可知,本段讲装饰雪人,如穿衣服,插胡萝卜鼻子,C选项“然后你的雪人就装扮好了”承接装饰步骤的完成,引出下文的“退后欣赏成果”。故选C。
5.根据上文“So, are you ready to build a snowman?(那么,你准备好堆雪人了吗?)”以及后文“Gather your friends and just go for it!(召集你的朋友们,然后放手去干吧!)”
