His sights are already set on helping others in his community with his touching acts of kindness. Inspired by an Internet-based group calling itself “Hit the Ambulance Gamers” which highlights random acts of kindness, or “hits”, he creates and hands out goody bags to ambulance crews in the West Midlands, the UK, to bring joy to the hard-working paramedics (护理人员). Much more than just treats, they are a reminder that compassion can have a deep impact on others. The youngster fills his goody bags with tea, coffee, chocolates, biscuits, and pens, all gifted to him by friends and family. “I am so proud of him — he is such a kind little boy,” says his mom, Laura Stubbs. “Whenever we have some spare time, you can find Finley at the hospital handing out little bags that he’s made to every ambulance that arrives. He’s so popular that Shrewsbury ambulance crews all know him now.” The hospital’s nursing director, Hayley Flavell, also shows her admiration, “What a lovely and kind gesture by Finley — his goody bags will make all the difference to the ambulance crews that arrive at our hospital. Well done, Finley!” Perhaps this kind-hearted kid’s selfless actions are more worth praising because he lives with ADHD.It is a common mental disorder in children. Its symptoms include difficulty in focusing, inappropriate hyperactivity (多动) and a tendency to act impulsively. Finley’s love for ambulances has led to him setting up his own online group titled “Finlay-Jay’s Ambulance Bags Journey”. In it, he continues to inspire others to support his mission and spread kindness in their own communities. Finley has taken the concept of random acts of kindness to new heights. The “Hit the Ambulance Gamers” group encourages members to share gestures such as waves with ambulance crews, but this caring boy is praised for going above and beyond with his goody bags. 24.What inspired Finley to do good deeds? A.An online community. B.His personal experience. C.The importance of rescue work. D.His mother’s encouragement. 25.Where do Finley’s goods to ambulance crews come from? A.They are collected through the Internet. B.They are donated by a charity. C.They are given by his familiar people. D.They are bought by Finley himself. 26.What can be learned about Finley? A.He is a child with exceptional talents. B.He faces personal difficulties yet spreads kindness to others. C.He has received national recognition for his achievements. D.He has developed a unique medical treatment for ADHD. 27.What can be known from the last paragraph? A.Finley became an active leader of “Hit the Ambulance Gamers”. B.Finley received financial support from others to carry out his good deeds. C.Finley’s goody-bag-giving activity was recognized by “Hit the Ambulance Gamers”. D.Finley furthered the kindness concept of “Hit the Ambulance Gamers”. C Do you prefer listening to your favorite band while working on a presentation or writing an autobiography? While it’s often thought that having background music on boosts creativity, a new study finds that it actually can do just the opposite. Researchers from the United Kingdom and Sweden cooperated to examine how people did in a verbal creativity test with various types of music played in the background, compared to how the participants performed while library sounds were being played, as well as in silence. Thirty young adults—15 men and 15 women from the University of Lancashire—were observed for the experiments. The participants were shown a series of three words at a time and then asked to add a word to each to create a new word or phrase. For example, someone could be shown the words “point” “stick” and “maker”. A correct answer in this case could be the word “match” for the group. Meanwhile, the participants would take on the challenge either while in a quiet environment, or while listening to either music with foreign lyrics (歌词) , music with familiar lyrics, or instrumental music. The individuals also completed the task with library sounds in the background. In all three cases of the background music, the study found, the participants’ performance in the task was significantly damaged, which wasn’t seen in a quiet setting. Co-author Dr. Neil McLatchie said there was strong evidence of damaged performance with background music compared to quiet conditions. Even when the familiar song improved the participants’ mood or they were used to studying with music, creativity was still worsened. As for why music was so problematic, the authors believe that music disturbs verbal memory. Library sounds in a “steady state” caused far less disturbance than the music, though they did have some influence. “To conclude, the findings challenge the popular view that music enhances creativity. Instead, they show that music, whether with familiar lyrics or unfamiliar lyrics, consistently disturbs creative performance in insight problem solving,” the authors write. 28.What is the main purpose of the new study? A.To prove that background music boosts creativity. B.To find out how different types of music affect mood. C.To explore the impact of background music on creativity. D.To match proper music types with different work environments. 29.How is the study carried out? A.By observing participants’ performance in various sound conditions. B.By comparing participants’ speed of creating a new word. C.By analyzing partıcipants’ preference for different music. D.By judging participants’ reaction to different lyrics. 30.What can we infer from the findings of the study? A.People should work in a quiet environment. B.Library sounds are better for creative work. C.Background music can lift people’s spirits. D.Familiar music can improve people’s creativity. 31.What can be the best title for the text? A.Music: A Double-Edged Sword in Creativity B.Does Background Music Really Boost Creativity? C.How Does Music Affect Our Mood and Performance? D.Library Noise: The Role of Enhancing Creativity D For the last year, analysts have warned that the data centers needed for AI would drive up power demand and, by extension, emissions (排放) as natural gas facilities are built to help meet the demand. An announcement of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek suggests that those assumptions may be wildly off. If it is to be believed, AI may finally use less power and generate fewer emissions than expected. Still, don’t jump for joy just yet. To my mind, the biggest lesson for the climate world from DeepSeek isn’t that AI emissions may be less than expected. Instead, DeepSeek shows how little we truly know about what AI means for the future of global emissions. AI will shape the world’s decarbonization plan across sectors and geographies, disrupting (颠覆) the very basics of how we understand the future of climate change; the question now is whether we can use that disruption for the better. Indeed, it’s very easy to imagine the upsides of AI far outweighing the downsides. Most obviously, as DeepSeek shows, there may be ways to reduce the emissions of AI with chip innovation and language model advances. As the technology improves, efficiencies will certainly appear. Additionally, the expansion of data centers could inspire the deployment of low-carbon energy. Tech companies committed to carbon neutrality are already investing in renewables, paving the way for broader adoption. Governments are also recognizing the need to remove barriers to renewable energy to attract AI and tech investments. AI’s potential to cut emissions falls into two categories: incremental (渐进的) improvements and game-changing breakthroughs. Incremental benefits include making renewable energy sites better, spotting methane (甲烷) leaks, and improving agricultural efficiency. These small-scale improvements could collectively outweigh AI’s additional emissions. Game-changing innovations, such as AI-optimized nuclear fusion (核聚变), could revolutionize clean energy production and enable large-scale carbon removal, offering a viable alternative to fossil fuels. While the full effect of AI on climate change remains uncertain, its potential to both increase and reduce emissions is undeniable. For those new to the AI conversation, its rapid rise feels overwhelming, but its role in shaping our climate future is undeniable. Whether AI becomes a force for good or worsens the climate crisis depends on how we use its potential. 32.What does DeepSeek think about AI’s emissions? A.AI will greatly reduce global emissions. B.AI’s emissions may be lower than expected. C.AI’s emissions are impossible to measure. D.AI will lead to a sharp increase in power demand. 33.What is the author’s main concern about AI and climate change? A.AI is not easily controlled to assist us to solve the climate problems. B.AI’s effect on emissions is still poorly understood. C.AI will make climate change worse without any benefits. D.AI will replace all human efforts to fight climate change. 34.What action are tech companies taking to reduce AI-related emissions? A.Reducing the size of data centers. B.Expanding natural gas facilities. C.Investing in renewable energy sources. D.Ignoring carbon neutrality commitments. 35.Which of the following is an example of the incremental improvements? A.Detecting methane leaks. B.AI-improved nuclear fusion. C.Building more natural gas facilities. D.Replacing all fossil fuels with renewables. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项 涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 In today’s information age, where access to the latest knowledge and data is almost instantaneous (瞬间完成的), the ability to effectively absorb new information is critical. 36 Let’s explore some proven strategies that will help you make the most of your learning and avoid “information overload”. ☆ 37 Diving into new information immediately after learning it helps solidify (巩固) it in your memory. For instance, if you discover a new time management technique at a meeting, try to apply at least one tip the very same day. ☆Rewrite, express, and summarize information without delay. Use a journal or notebook to write down and interpret new insights. 38 They may review a book, create concept maps, or simply note their thoughts. For example, after reading an article, write down the main ideas and formulate questions for further exploration. ☆Don’t rely only on memory — repetition is the mother of learning. 39 Applying new materials in practice helps strengthen them. For example, start gradually integrating new knowledge into your work processes or daily routines. Anyhow, if you follow the rules above, you can adapt to new data more quickly, explore deeper into it, and remember it for a long time. 40 So take action now. A.Many successful individuals keep records. B.Even the most interesting ideas can fade from memory. C.Act quickly while the information is still fresh in your mind. D.Continuously adjust your mind as you acquire new knowledge. E.After receiving information, it’s vital to pick up the main concepts. During the event, several kites crafted by Ha Xin, the fifth-generation inheritor of the kite-making skills, 56 (display). Although the fundamental procedures of ordinary kite-making 57 (be) similar, which involve creating the kite’s bamboo skeleton, gluing the components together, 58 covering the framework with paper, Ha’s kites stand out as uniquely artistic works. This is because he has devoted a great deal of energy 59 the drawing and design stages. Drawing, for Ha, represents the very essence of the kites he creates. His grandfather once remarked, “A kite may have a lifespan of about 100 years but the drawing and design can last for an even 60 (long) period.” Ha’s kite drawings, 61 themes involve a variety of elements, include birds, butterflies, goldfish and dragons. On this occasion, he has creatively designed kites 62 (feature) the illustration of Dala horses from Sweden. 63 (enhance) interactivity, Ha prepared a semi-completed dragon kite and then extended an invitation to local audiences. “By engaging in the process 64 (active), the locals can not only enjoy the experience but also develop a great 65 (appreciate) of the Chinese art of kitemaking,” he said. 参考词汇:灭火器extinguisher April 10, 2025, Thursday Sunny Today, our school conducted a fire drill. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节(满分25分) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Noah Raven, a 12-year-old boy had always been curious about nature, but it wasn’t until he went on a trip to Mexico that his life took a transformative turn. It was during this trip, when Noah and his family visited the Piedra Herrada Reserve to witness the overwintering site of monarch butterflies (黑脉金斑蝶) , that he became concerned about the poor condition of these incredible creatures. Noah couldn’t shake the images of the butterflies he saw during that visit. He recalled how, as he learned more about the monarchs, his amazement grew. However, the facts were shocking: Monarch populations had crashed, with Eastern populations declining by over 80%, and some Western populations by more than 99%. He was troubled by the realization that these butterflies, which had once flown through fields and gardens in his hometown, might be on the edge of extinction. It was a feeling that weighed heavily on him, especially during the quiet night when the gravity of their decline truly hit him. Noah’s thoughts turned into anxiety. He lay awake, thinking about the possibility that the ecosystems that these butterflies supported might disappear forever. He decided to take matters into his own hands. “I didn’t want to let these magical butterflies and the ecosystems disappear forever,” he thought to himself. It was then that a spark of resolve lit within him. He knew he had to do something. The next day, Noah’s family gathered together to brainstorm solutions. They understood that he monarchs’ survival depended on their habitats, which were being destroyed by a combination of climate change, pesticide use, and loss of vital plants like milkweed. Noah realized that, while they couldn’t solve the larger environmental problems single-handed, there was something they could do. They could create habitats, and if they could get others involved, it could make a significant difference. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Noah began to take action immediately. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The nonprofit organization Monarch Defenders soon grew into a nationwide movement. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 英语试卷第1页,共2页 英语试卷第1页,共2页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $高三年级第二次模拟考试 英语(A)答案 1.C 【原文】M:What are you going to eat?I'm thinking of getting the noodles.
