My name is Tom, and I’m a senior one student. Last year, I moved to a new city with my family, which meant I had to start a new high school. At first, I was really nervous. I didn’t know anyone, and I was worried about fitting in.
On my first day, I wore my favorite shirt and arrived at school early. The hallways were crowded with students, and everyone seemed to know each other. I felt like an outsider. When I got to my first class, I sat in the back row and kept quiet. The teacher asked us to introduce ourselves, and when it was my turn, my voice was so quiet that almost no one heard me.
After class, a boy named Jack came up to me. “Hi, I’m Jack. Are you new here?” he asked with a smile. I nodded and told him my name. Jack was friendly and showed me around the school. He introduced me to his friends, and soon I started to feel more comfortable.
Now, I’ve been in school for six months. I have made several good friends, and I’m enjoying my classes. I’ve also joined the school’s basketball club, which is something I’ve always loved. This Spring Festival, Ren Jun’s family chose to travel instead of having a traditional family reunion. They went to northwest China to see ancient Buddhist caves, temples, and a very old tomb in the desert. “Our daughter loves the culture there, so we took this long break to explore,” Ren said.
More and more Chinese people are doing the same, using the holiday to visit places rich in history. Data from travel platforms (平台) indicate that air bookings to cities such as Datong and Quanzhou have doubled since January 1, and by the second day of the holiday, tickets to Beijing’s Palace Museum had sold out, and there were very few left for the Terracotta Army in Xi’an.
People now want to learn more while they travel. Ren’s group had a guide named Xing Yaolong, who is an expert on Dunhuang. He said that people are willing to pay more to see special places like the Mogao Grottoes. New travel agencies like “The Seekers” are offering in-depth tours to places like Shanxi and Yunnan.
Wang Lei, a professor at Beijing Normal University, said, “As incomes rise, people seek to enrich their spirits. Retirees are a big part of this trend.”
Many travellers are also choosing to visit smaller, older towns instead of big tourist spots. A traveller named Daodao shared about a lantern festival in Zhanqi Village on the Internet. “The night is lit up with colorful fish-shaped lanterns, and everyone is dancing to folk music,” Daodao wrote, “To keep this 800-year-old tradition alive, locals are teaching others how to make lanterns and sharing event schedules online.”
For people who stay at home, the Spring Festival Gala on TV showed many cultural traditions and got 16.8 billion views. One viewer wrote, “This is amazing! I want to visit Wuxi and Chongqing now.” Another added, “We need to know where we come from to know where we’re going.”
28. How does the author lead in the topic in the first paragraph?
A. By giving an example. B. By explaining an idea.
C. By showing numbers. D. By referring to an expert.
29. What do the data from travel platforms show?
A. The ups and downs of air tickets. B. The growth of online shopping.
C. The rise of tourism. D. The change of how people get around.
30. What did Daodao do during this Spring Festival?
A. He had a family get-together. B. He experienced village culture.
C. He visited many big tourist places. D. He taught people to make lanterns.
31. What is the best title for the text?
A. In-depth Travel for Rich People
B. A Family’s New Choice for Holidays
C. Cultural Traditions Need Protecting
D. Cultural Trips Replace Reunions for Spring Festival
D
Old buildings are usually thought of as throwaways and suitable for being pulled down. Most people have not fully realized the “green” values that are connected with the upkeep of old buildings. Actually, keeping and making use of old architecture is one of the most environmentally-sound things we can do — more than the construction (建造) of any new architecture expected to be “green”.
Aged communities, which have developed and changed naturally over a long period, hold unique cultures of their own. The buildings inside them are irreplaceable (不可替代的) to the environment. Choosing to pull down such architecture basically is like sentencing a special community to disappearance. Constructing “green” can be about saving time-honored, local building traditions that value the local cultures, rather than just using the latest and greatest technologies.
The construction supplies (建筑材料) and workmanship are also worth protecting, not simply because of the environmental cost of producing and transporting them, but for the fact that some of such supplies and the workmanship no longer live. For example, my little river cottage (别墅) in West Virginia, which was built with chestnut before the disappearance of the chestnut trees, may never again be sourced. However, the probable buyer planned to pull it down, which, in my view, is not only a mark of downgrading the source but also goes against the idea of workable development.
As the Preservation Green Lab report describes, it takes 10 to 80 years for a new building that is 30% more practical (实用的) than a common present building to overcome the harmful climate (气候) change results connected to the construction, which focuses on the necessity of ongoing use of present buildings and communities, successfully stopping or decreasing (减少) the use of forests, farms, wildlife homes and open areas for new construction tasks.
As Carl Elefante of Quinn- Evans architects artfully said, “The greenest building is one that is already built.” Hopefully, the public will come to the agreement that present buildings are worth more care and attention.
32. How do most people deal with old buildings?
A. People treat them lightly. B. People rebuild them actively.
C. People explore them fully. D. People treasure them heartily.
33. Why does the writer mention his little river cottage in paragraph 3?
A. To prove the shortage of building supplies.
B. To explain the difficulty of building houses.
C. To show the connection to the old buildings.
D. To point out the value of keeping old buildings.
34. What can we know from the numbers in paragraph 4 about old buildings?
A. They are more practical than the new buildings.
B. They can help avoid more environmental pollution.
C. They require fewer supplies during the construction.
D. They can clear away the bad influences on farms nearby.
35. What is the text mainly about?
A. Culture worth lies in green buildings. B. Old buildings are cost-friendly.
C. Old buildings should be valued higher. D. Building workmanship should be treasured.

After I had pictured it over and over again in my mind, the big day finally arrived: my first day at senior high! I woke up early and rushed out of the door in my eagerness to get to know my new school. On the way, the morning breeze brushing my cheeks like a friendly hello, I kept wondering what my new teachers would be like — maybe strict but kind, or funny and easy to talk to?
The campus was still quiet when I arrived, so I decided to explore a bit. Anxious and excited, I told myself, “Lee, you will have a good beginning.” Some birds singing, I walked past the gym and stopped to look at the noticeboard. I was looking at the photos on the noticeboard when I heard a voice behind me. “New here?” Turning around suddenly, I crashed straight into someone. Then I heard the sound of a cup hitting the ground, and immediately saw the spilled coffee. Looking up, my face burning, I saw a handsome and young man with brown hair. His clean white shirt now had a dark brown mark, and it was spreading across his chest. “Oh, no!” I yelped. All the excitement about the new day disappeared, replaced by panic (惊慌)。
He quickly pulled out a tissue to wipe up the coffee stain on the floor. “It’s all right,” he said, “accidents happen.” I froze there, forgetting to help, “I... I am terribly sorry. I was just wondering what life is going to be like here.” “Don’t worry,” he gave me a smile. “You’ll soon find out.” He picked up the pieces of the cup and said goodbye to me.
How true his words were! When my head teacher stepped into the classroom, I was surprised to see the same handsome man I had met earlier.
“Good morning, everyone. Before we start, please come to the front one by one and introduce yourself to the class. I’ll go first. My family name is Brown....” Hearing his words, my heart began to beat wildly.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
I tried to turn on my brain but the engine just wouldn’t start.

W: Sure. Don’t worry. You know more French than other tourists who’ve come into my café.
M: Well, thanks. Trying new languages, foods, and ways of living is important when traveling.
W: That’s true. Wherever we travel, we should try as many new things as possible.
M: Right. I’m from Beijing, China, and I’m so thankful when visitors respect my country’s culture. So, how can I behave better while traveling around Paris?
W: Respect is the key. When you enter a shop, saying hello is a sign of politeness. Although many people speak English, it’s kind to ask before talking to them in English.
M: Thanks for the advice.
W: You’re welcome! And hey, don’t miss out on art museums, fashion centers, and historic churches. They’re a big part of French culture.
M: That sounds great, and I have booked the museum ticket for tomorrow.

Moving to a new school was scary at first, but it turned out to be a great experience. It taught me to be brave and open to new things.

根据第一段第一句“This Spring Festival, Ren Jun’s family chose to travel instead of having a traditional family reunion. (今年春节,任军一家选择旅行而不是传统的家庭团聚)”可知,作者开篇即呈现任军一家的具体选择,通过个体案例引出整体话题,后文铺展数据和专家分析予以支撑,这种“由点到面”的写法属于举例引入。故选A项。
根据第二段第二句“Data from travel platforms indicate that air bookings to cities such as Datong and Quanzhou have doubled since January 1, and by the second day of the holiday, tickets to Beijing’s Palace Museum had sold out, and there were very few left for the Terracotta Army in Xi’an. (旅游平台的数据显示,自1月1日以来,前往大同和泉州等城市的机票预订量已翻倍,到假期第二天,北京故宫的门票已售罄,西安兵马俑的门票也所剩无几)”可知,机票预订量翻倍、热门文化景点一票难求,这些具体数据共同指向旅游需求的显著增长,印证了文化旅行业的兴起之势。故选C项。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段前两句“Many travellers are also choosing to visit smaller, older towns instead of big tourist spots. A traveller named Daodao shared about a lantern festival in Zhanqi Village on the Internet. (许多旅行者也选择游览小而古老的城镇,而非大型旅游景点。一位名叫刀刀的旅行者在网络上分享了战旗村灯笼节的经历。)”及后文叙述可知,这位叫“刀刀”的游客没有去知名的旅游景点,而是进行了深度的乡村文化体验游。故选B项。

A 33. D 34. B 35. C
根据第一段“Old buildings are usually thought of as throwaways and suitable for being pulled down. (旧建筑通常被视为可丢弃的东西,适合被拆除)”可知,大多数人认为旧建筑是可丢弃的,适合拆除,也就是对待它们比较随意、不重视。故选A项。
根据第三段“The construction supplies (建筑材料) and workmanship are also worth protecting, not simply because of the environmental cost of producing and transporting them, but for the fact that some of such supplies and the workmanship no longer live. For example, my little river cottage (别墅) in West Virginia, which was built with chestnut before the disappearance of the chestnut trees, may never again be sourced. (建筑材料和工艺也值得保护,不仅仅是因为生产和运输它们的环境成本,还因为一些这样的材料和工艺已经不复存在。例如,我在西弗吉尼亚州的小河别墅,是在栗树消失前用栗木建造的,可能再也找不到这样的材料了)”可知,作者提到他的小河别墅是为了说明一些建筑材料和工艺已经不复存在,从而指出保护旧建筑的价值。故选D项。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“As the Preservation Green Lab report describes, it takes 10 to 80 years for a new building that is 30% more practical (实用的) than a common present building to overcome the harmful climate (气候) change results connected to the construction, which focuses on the necessity of ongoing use of present buildings and communities, successfully stopping or decreasing (减少) the use of forests, farms, wildlife homes and open areas for new construction tasks.

上文“In a world dominated by social media and peer pressure, it’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison.(在一个由社交媒体和同伴压力主导的世界里,很容易陷入比较的陷阱。)”提到了青少年容易陷入比较的陷阱;下文“Celebrate your unique qualities, talents, and interests. Remember, everyone is on their own journey, and what works for someone else may not work for you.(赞美你独特的品质、才能和兴趣。记住,每个人都在自己的旅途中,对别人有用的东西不一定对你有用。)”提到了要赞美自己;D选项“然而,真正的幸福来自于接纳真实的自己”,与前文形成转折,且与后文强调接纳自我的内容相呼应,起到了承上启下的作用,符合语境。故选D项。
【37题详解】
该空为小标题,需要概括整段内容。下文“Whether it’s academic achievements, personal growth, or extracurricular pursuits, setting clear objectives can help you stay focused. However, life is unpredictable, and it’s important to remain flexible.(无论是学业成就、个人成长还是课外活动,设定明确的目标都能帮助你保持专注。然而,生活是不可预测的,保持灵活是很重要的。)”提到了设定目标和保持灵活,所以B选项“设定目标,但要保持灵活”准确概括了该段内容,作为小标题合适。故选B项。
【38题详解】
上文“However, life is unpredictable, and it’s important to remain flexible. As you grow and learn, your interests and priorities may change, and that’s okay.(然而,生活是不可预测的,保持灵活是很重要的。随着你的成长和学习,你的兴趣和优先级可能会改变,这没关系。)”提到了保持灵活性。F项“适应能力是一项宝贵的技能,它将在未来为你带来很大帮助”,阐述了适应能力的重要性,与前文内容紧密相关,符合语境。故选F项。
【39题详解】
上文“Prioritize your physical health by getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, and staying active.(优先考虑你的身体健康,保证充足的睡眠,吃有营养的食物,保持活跃。)”提到了关注身体健康;下文“Practice mindfulness, journal your thoughts, and don’t hesitate to talk to someone you trust if you’re feeling overwhelmed.(练习专注,记录你的想法,如果你感到不知所措,不要犹豫,和你信任的人谈谈。)”
上文“The people you spend time with can greatly influence your mindset and choices. Choose friends who uplift, support, and inspire you.(和你在一起的人会极大地影响你的心态和选择。选择那些鼓舞你、支持你、激励你的朋友。)”提到了人际关系,所以接下来要继续讲述良好人际关系的好处。G项“积极的人际关系可以提升你的自信心,并帮助你应对挑战”符合语境。故选G项。

【63题详解】

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

I tried to turn on my brain but the engine just wouldn’t start.

I tried to turn on my brain but the engine just wouldn’t start. I should say my name, of course. But what else? What could I say to make a good first impression to erase the memory of that coffee stain? I was organizing my words in my head when my turn came. With butterflies in my stomach, I dragged my feet to the front. Glancing at Mr Brown’s encouraging smile, I cleared my throat, “Hello, I’m Lee. This morning, I accidentally spilled coffee on our head teacher. Sorry again, Mr Brown.” Instead of a proper self-introduction, I blurted out an apology.
My words made everyone laugh and all eyes turned to Mr Brown’s white shirt. To my surprise, Mr Brown chuckled along with the class. “The coffee stain,” he said, his eyes twinkling, “has become our class’s first shared memory.” His response immediately eased my tension. He continued by comparing the accident to our learning journey, suggesting that sometimes the most imperfect beginning makes the best story, and that we should embrace such unexpected moments in senior high. Sunlight streamed through the window onto his white shirt, and I let out a smile of relief. People say, “Well begun, half done.” I guess this was a good beginning to my new school life.
