Research shows there is another way: using receptive (接纳性的) language, showing that we are truly interested in a new point of view. Many of us try to avoid disputed (有争议的) discussions. We prefer to talk with someone with similar opinions. This happens because we usually think that talking to someone who has disagreements will be more unpleasant than it actually is. When we do have to talk with people holding different views, we typically try to convince them to give up their beliefs because we think we are right and try to “win” the argument. And the other side is likely to think the same way, which leads to even more difficult problems to work through. A more effective method is being conversationally receptive. Research shows that when we appear receptive to others’ different views, our arguments sound more convincing. Receptive language can also make those with whom we disagree more receptive in return. It makes us more likable, and others more interested in partnering with us. Researchers suggested three tips that can help us improve conversational receptiveness in even the most heated disagreements. Recognise (承认) the other person’s point of view. Say “I understand that…” or “I believe what you’re saying is…” to show that you take an active part in the conversation and find value and even trust in their points. Hedge your statements. When we talk, we usually hold the opinion that we should be strong and confident and express our views in a direct forceful (强有力的) way. But if we show that we are not so sure about our beliefs, our views will be likely to be better received. Express your arguments in an acceptable way. You might say “Let’s consider the possible benefits of having fewer people working on the project.” rather than “We should not add more people to the project.” The second sentence sounds unpleasant, showing that the speaker is not open to the possibility of further discussion. By following these tips in our communication, we’ll be more likely to have an effective conversation and bridge the differences. 74.According to the passage, being conversationally receptive can lead to ______. A.useful communication B.creative opinions C.clear confidence D.different opinions 75.The words “Hedge your statements.” in Paragraph 6 probably mean “______”. D.To provide three effective tips to win an argument. 77.Where can you most possibly read this article? A.A science book B.A story book C.A social science magazine D.A guide book During the National Day holiday, many people want to find dazi (搭子) or activity partners on Xiaohongshu or Weibo for travelling. The activity of finding dazi is a new way of social contact (社交) for young people. The idea of this activity is easy to understand. It helps people to find someone who has the same hobby as them and it doesn’t take much time. With one or a few dazi, people have more fun in the activities they are interested in. A girl called Ge Jinyuan is a high school student from Shandong. She likes talking with her meal dazi when she is having lunch. “We love to share our ideas on the food,“ said the girl. “If my meal dazi doesn’t come to school one day, I will be sad.” “It takes a lot of time to make friends with others. But it doesn’t need much time to have a dazi,” said another girl Shi Zhimin, a student from Shanxi. Ge Jinyuan also has the same idea. She doesn’t want to spend too much time making friends, so having a dazi is good for her. She can feel relaxed and then has more time to study. Also, ▲ . “Once, my game dazi and I did something wrong when playing the game Eggy Party, but we worked together to turn the tide (扭转局势). By playing the game together, I find I like working with others now!” Shi Zhimin said. Dazi is usually helpful but it can be dangerous. People may lie on the Internet: For example, a young and beautiful girl on the Internet may be an old, short, and heavy man in real life. So, think twice when finding Dazi. 78.According to the passage, why do people like finding dazi? A.They have the same idea about food. B.They want to spend more time with others. C.It helps people make friends from different places. D.It doesn’t take much time to find friends with the same hobbies. 79.Which sentence can be put in the place “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 5? A.dazi sometimes may play games better than you B.dazi sometimes may help you learn teamwork C.dazi sometimes may have different ideas about games D.dazi sometimes may ask you to talk with others 80.What is the best title of the passage? A.Dazi: The New Way to Find Activity Partners B.Know the History of Dazi in China C.Dazi: The Best Way to Have Fun D.Know the Danger of Finding Dazi in China 81.Which of the following shows the structure of this passage? A. B. C. D. How often do you use your mobile phone as a teenager? Do you think it is better to communicate (沟通) with others on your mobile phone? When I was a teenager, I received my first mobile phone at the age of 13. I quickly fell in love with the texting function (短信功能). I started to send texts daily to my friends instead of calling them because texting made it easier for me to communicate with my family and friends whenever possible. It was a new way of communication for me. I could keep doing some other activities while sending messages, I was also more comfortable when I spoke my mind through these messages. Now when I look back, I want to know if texting changed how I socialized (社交) as a teenager. Did I lose in person social skills? I feel that teenagers are becoming too comfortable with texting and not practicing face-to-face social skills. Now as a young adult in college, I find face-to-face communication is very important in my daily activities. In fact, it is better to communicate face to face. In today’s world, socially interactive technologies (社交互动技术) have become part of our everyday lives, especially for teenagers. Teenagers in the US spend about 6 hours per day using mobile phones and they are the common heavy users in using the socially interactive technologies. I believe teenagers are taking the place of face-to-face interactions with the text messaging function of mobile phones. Texting gives a safety net for teenagers to communicate with each other. Teenagers can communicate what they want to say without the pressures (压力) of being face-to-face to each other. However, it is a very important skill for teenagers to be able to improvise. For example, in a job interview (面试), you have no time to think or plan. What’s more, you have no chance to erase (清除) what you say in face-to-face communications because you have to react immediately (快速做出反应). Besides, teenagers can read body language and facial expressions (面部表情). As teenagers grow and continue their lives as young adults, they will need to use these skills in many situations. That’s why I advise teenagers not to just text others every time they need to communicate. 82.What can we know about the writer from paragraph 2? A.The writer began to send texts every day to his friends. B.It was difficult for the writer to tell his ideas by texting. C.The writer received his first mobile phone at the age of 14. D.The writer was more excited when he spoke his mind through phone calls. 83.The writer may agree that ________. A.texting helps teenagers to change socially interactive technologies B.teenagers need to spend more time sending messages to their family C.teenagers should take the place of face-to-face interactions with texting D.texting gives teenagers less pressures than face-to-face communication 84.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A.To tell the importance of texting for teenagers. B.To ask teenagers to have more face-to-face communication. C.To explain why teenagers like face-to-face communication better today. D.To encourage teenagers to use socially interactive technologies like texting. Angel and Leonard, two of my classmates, were fighting again. Angel was face to face with Leonard. They were shouting at each other when I walked right up and got between them. “Enough!” I shouted. But they just didn’t care. I thought for a second. Then I did something unexpected. I turned around like a dancer and stopped in a strange position. I didn’t move. A funny look appeared on my face. “Tanisha, what are you doing?” Angel shouted. “Stop it. You are acting so strangely!” Leonard suddenly started laughing. “Look at her! She’s a stone person.” He walked over and touched me. I suddenly unfroze and started dancing again. “Let’s play Freeze Tag (冻结标记),” I suggested, “If I touch you, you have to freeze in whatever position you are in.” Leonard looked at me like I was crazy. Then he took off and I ran after him. Leonard dodged left and right, but I knew it was impossible for him to get past me. I froze him. He was like a flying bird! Suddenly everyone was playing including Angel and no one was fighting. The teachers couldn’t believe their eyes. I told everyone that Freeze Tag was just a beginning. After Freeze Tag was over, we played Spud and Red Light, Green Light. Thanks to everyone playing together, our playground was once again fun! When the bell rang, we all headed inside. I noticed Angel and Leonard were talking and laughing. I was happy to see them finally getting along well with each other. 85.How did Tanisha stop the fight between Angel and Leonard? A.By making faces. B.By playing a game. C.By shouting at them. D.By asking teachers for help. 86.What does the underlined word “dodged” mean in the passage? dodge vt. ①Fell quietly to the ground. ②Went somewhere with efforts. ③Hid and hoped you would not be seen. ④Moved quickly in order not to meet somebody. A.① B.② C.③ D.④ 87.Which words can best describe Tanisha? A.Kind and wise. B.Patient and serious. C.Shy and smart. D.Polite and clever. 88.What can we learn from the passage? A.The help of teachers is a useful way to solve fights. B.Fights are harmful and should be avoided (避免) at all costs. C.Playing interesting games is more important than learning. D.Fights can’t be avoided, but we can solve them in creative ways. Asking for help is okay, but doing it politely makes others happy to help you. How can we do that? Here are some ways that may help. First, start with a smile and a friendly “Hi” or “Excuse me.” This shows you’re kind. Then, use “could you please” to make your request (请求) polite. For example, if you need a pencil, say, “Could you please lend me a pencil? I left mine at home.” If you’re not sure if someone can help, add “if you don’t mind”. For example, you can say, “Could you please show me where the library is, if you don’t mind?” That makes it easier for them to say no if they’re busy. Also, tell them why you need help. It will help them understand. You could say, “Could you please explain this maths problem to me? I tried, but I still can’t work it out.” Sharing a brief (简短的) reason makes your request clearer. After they help you, always say, “Thank you!” For you, it matters. It’s important to show you’re grateful (感激的). If they can’t help, say “That’s okay. Thank you anyway.” This keeps things friendly. Remember, being polite when asking for help makes people want to help you more! 89.What should you start with when asking for help politely? A.A loud “Hey!”. B.A smile and a friendly “Hi” C.Just saying your request. D.A smile and saying nothing. 90.Why is it good to tell others why you need help when asking? A.To make them feel sorry for you. B.To help them know your request better. C.To show you are interested in them. D.To show you want to spend time with them. 91.What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 5 refer to (指的是)? A.Saying “Thank you”. B.Telling your request. C.Adding “if you don’t mind”. D.Sharing a brief reason. 92.What does the text mainly tell us? A.How to make friends easily. B.Why people don’t like to help others. C.How to ask for help politely. D.What to do when others can’t help you. 七、任务型阅读 阅读短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。 If you really want to succeed in life, it’s very important to be a team player. For example, in a football game, Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player, but he still has to work well with his team members to win a match. Because every member of his team has a very important role and every member of the team is necessary to the success of the team. The idea of teamwork also works well in other parts of our life. Lab work and group programmes require (需要) the good teamwork experience with others. In the workplace, working together is also necessary for success, because one person cannot finish large tasks like building a railway (铁路) or controlling a train station. Being a team player does not mean that one person should not have any ideas of his own. He doesn’t have to agree with the other team players all the time. A good team member should not be afraid to think of new ideas, even the crazy ones. He needs to stick to his ideas and share them with the other members of the team. Those crazy ideas may help the team realise the dreams. ________ 93.Why is working together also necessary in the workplace? 94.What shouldn’t a good team member be afraid to do according to Paragraph 3? 95.Do you like to work in a team? Why or why not? 96.在________处写一个恰当的结尾,使文章主题得到升华,要求15词以内。 阅读文章,用恰当的短语或句子补全概要。补全部分总词数不超过30词,不能照抄文原文连续超过3个词。 Have you ever found yourself trying to be overly nice to someone, even if it didn’t come naturally? This often happens at work. People usually do this to avoid (避免) hurting others’ feelings or causing problems. However, it’s important to understand that being overly nice can sometimes lead to worse results. One reason is that people who are too nice often don’t share their real thoughts and feelings. For example, when they should give honest feedback (反馈), they just say “good job” instead. Also, if someone doesn’t do well at work, being nice by not pointing out their mistakes can make things worse. That’s because they won’t have a chance to get better. What’s more, being overly nice can also lead to more anxiety (焦虑). When you avoid talking about problems, they don’t disappear-they stay hidden (隐藏的) and build up stress and worry. For example, if your friend keeps cutting you off when you talk, being too nice might make you afraid to ask them to stop. This silence then causes stress every time you chat, and the problem never goes away. What should we do about this? First, have the courage to voice your feelings. If something troubles you, express it kindly. For example, share your thoughts in a caring way instead of staying silent. Second, give specific feedback (具体的反馈). Instead of saying “good job”, be specific. Try: “really liked how you organized the activities in this meeting.” Specific words help others understand what they did well and what they can keep doing in the future. Third, remember that different opinions are okay. Discussing differences can make teams stronger. Being honest doesn’t mean being unkind—it means caring enough to help others grow and making sure everyone does their best. In short, being honest and direct helps us to do better in relationships and teamwork. Sometimes, this matters more than being overly nice. SummaryThe passage tells us that being overly nice can cause 97 . It may make people afraid to share real thoughts, stop others from getting better and cause anxiety to people. For example, people may give praise 98 specific feedback. To solve this, we should be brave to express feelings kindly, offer specific feedback and accept 99 . The writer wants to encourage us to be honest and direct instead of being overly nice.
