由LinkedIn Ads: Connecting with Professionals中“One of the key advantages of using LinkedIn Ads is its professional targeting options, including job titles, industries, company size, and even specific companies. This high level of precision ensures that your ads are viewed by related professionals who are more likely to be interested in your products or services.(使用领英广告的主要优势之一是其专业的定位选项,包括职位、行业、公司规模,甚至特定公司。 故选A项。 由文章第一段“We will compare some of the top online advertising platforms and help you determine which one is right for you.(我们将比较一些顶级的在线广告平台,并帮助您确定哪一个适合您。)” B In the middle of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, Amanda Barrows carefully placed a wooden nightstand (床头柜) on the ground. She attached a sign reading, “Take a poem, leave a poem.” So far, more than 100 poems have come in. “It’s completely unexpected,” said Barrows. “I’m really impressed by the outpouring of support.” A park ranger (护林人) by day and a poet by night, Barrows joined a Poetry for the People class at City College of San Francisco (CCSF). Students were asked to find a way to “bring poetry into the community” as their final project. In the beginning, Barrows struggled to land on an idea. Eventually, though, it dawned on her that she could perhaps combine together her two worlds — parks and poetry. A colleague offered up a weathered nightstand, which Barrows thought would be the perfect tool for her project, as she could fill the drawer at the top with fresh paper and pens and add a box at the bottom for poems. The concept reminded her of Little Free Libraries, which featured bookstands stationed across the city. “I was inspired by the little free libraries you see in San Francisco (SF), where you ‘take a book, leave a book’, and thought, ‘Maybe I could do this with poetry.’” said Barrows. Since she only had a single nightstand to work with, Barrows decided that she would leave it in a park for four days before moving it to a new location. San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department manages about 220 parks, and Barrows’s goal is to bring the poetry nightstand to all of them. Since the Poetry Nightstand project started, people have donated a wide range of writing. Barrows has shared most of the submissions on social media. “It really is a community project,” Barrows said. “It belongs to all of us.” One of the teachers at the CCSF poetry course, Lauren Muller, told The Washington Post that “people need poetry now”, which she suggested as the reason for the success of Barrows’s project. 4. Why did Barrows start the Poetry Nightstand project? A. To share her own poems. B. To advertise a poetry class. C. To encourage young poets. D. To complete a required task. 5. How did Barrows’s project differ from Little Free Libraries? A. It wasn’t well-received by the public. B. It wasn’t fixed on a specific site. C. It covered a larger area in the city. D. It was only open to citizens of SF. 6. What did Muller think contributed to the success of Barrows’s project? A. The benefits of writing poetry. B. The public demand for poetry. C. The help from her neighbors. D. The large number of parks in SF. 7. Which of the following words best describe Barrows? A. Courageous and calm. B. Enthusiastic and kind. C. Creative and ambitious. D. Cooperative and generous. D 5. B 6. B 7. 根据第三段“A park ranger (护林人) by day and a poet by night, Barrows joined a Poetry for the People class at City College of San Francisco (CCSF). Students were asked to find a way to “bring poetry into the community” as their final project.( 巴罗斯白天是公园管理员,晚上是诗人,他参加了旧金山城市学院的“为人民写诗”课程。 根据第五段中的“The concept reminded her of Little Free Libraries, which featured bookstands stationed across the city.( 这个概念让她想起了小型免费图书馆,它的特色是遍布全城的书柜)”可知,Little Free Libraries遍布全城。再根据该段中的“Since she only had a single nightstand to work with, Barrows decided that she would leave it in a park for four days before moving it to a new location. San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department manages about 220 parks, and Barrows’s goal is to bring the poetry nightstand to all of them.( 由于她只有一个床头柜,巴罗斯决定把它放在公园里四天,然后把它搬到一个新的地方。 根据最后一段“One of the teachers at the CCSF poetry course, Lauren Muller, told The Washington Post that“people need poetry now”, which she suggested as the reason for the success of Barrows’s project.( CCSF诗歌课程的一位老师劳伦·穆勒告诉《华盛顿邮报》,“人们现在需要诗歌”,她认为这是巴罗斯项目成功的原因)”可知,穆勒认为巴罗斯的项目成功的原因是“人们现在需要诗歌”。 再由第五段最后一句话“San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department manages about 220 parks, and Barrows’s goal is to bring the poetry nightstand to all of them.( 旧金山的娱乐和公园部门管理着大约220个公园,巴罗斯的目标是把诗歌床头柜带到所有的公园)”可知,巴罗斯希望将这一项目带到所有公园,因此她也是非常有目标、有雄心的。故选C。 C Imagine that you are in a crowded place. You do not notice, but someone is watching you and learns your iPhone password (密码). Then, they steal your phone. Suddenly, your photos, documents, financial information, and the rest of your digital life have been taken from you. Apple, the iPhone maker, recently released an update to its iOS operating system. It has a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). The feature makes it a lot harder for phone thieves to open the device and access important functions and settings. Apple says the feature adds extra security for users. It addresses a drawback that thieves have used to lock device owners out of their Apple accounts, delete their photos and other files from their iCloud, and take money from their bank accounts. SDP keeps track of a user’s “familiar locations”, such as their home or workplace. It also reduces the importance of passwords. Instead, it favors “biometric” (生物识别的) features such as faces or fingerprints, which are a lot harder to copy. If a thief tries to erase or reset an iPhone, the device will require a Face ID or Touch ID scan to confirm that the person is the rightful owner. The new feature does not let someone use the password or any other backup method. Another part of the new feature is designed to slow down thieves trying to change security settings. For example, if someone tries to sign out of an Apple ID account, change the password or reset the phone in an unfamiliar location, they will have to authenticate (证实) by using Face ID or Touch ID, wait an hour, and then do a second facial or fingerprint scan. Changing an Apple ID password, updating Apple ID security settings, adding or removing Face or Touch ID, and turning off the Find My device feature or Stolen Device Protection also will lead to this feature. 8. What is the function of paragraph 1? A. To remind readers to be cautious. B. To explain how password theft directly causes device loss. C. To set a phone-stealing scene. D. To introduce the following text. 9. What is special about SDP? A. It secures Apple accounts with remote locking. B. It prevents thieves from accessing bank accounts. C. It stops iCloud files from being deleted. D. It makes thieves not easy to enter the phone. 10. What does SDP require for resetting a stolen iPhone? A. An Apple ID account. B. Identity confirmation. C. Previous passwords. D. A new security setting. 11. What does the passage mainly talk about? A. Usage of biometric features. B. Apple’s iOS operating system. C. iPhone’s anti-theft measure. D. Apple ID security settings. D 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第一段“Imagine that you are in a crowded place. You do not notice, but someone is watching you and learns your iPhone password (密码). Then, they steal your phone. Suddenly, your photos, documents, financial information, and the rest of your digital life have been taken from you.(想象一下,你在一个拥挤的地方。 和第二段“Apple, the iPhone maker, recently released an update to its iOS operating system. It has a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). The feature makes it a lot harder for phone thieves to open the device and access important functions and settings.(iPhone制造商苹果最近发布了其iOS操作系统的更新。 根据第二段中的“It has a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). The feature makes it a lot harder for phone thieves to open the device and access important functions and settings.(它有一个名为失窃设备保护(SDP)的新功能。 根据第五段中的“If a thief tries to erase or reset an iPhone, the device will require a Face ID or Touch ID scan to confirm that the person is the rightful owner.(如果小偷试图删除或重置iPhone,该设备将需要面部识别或触摸识别扫描,以确认该人是合法的所有者。)” 根据全文内容,尤其是第二段“Apple, the iPhone maker, recently released an update to its iOS operating system. It has a new feature called Stolen Device Protection (SDP). The feature makes it a lot harder for phone thieves to open the device and access important functions and settings.(iPhone制造商苹果最近发布了其iOS操作系统的更新。 C。 D Jason, a straight-A student from the University of Pennsylvania, uses the term “pseudo-working” to describe how many of us study. The pseudo-worker looks and feels like someone who is working hard — he or she spends a long time in the library and is not afraid to push on late into the night — but, because of a lack of focus and concentration, he or she doesn’t actually accomplish much. This phenomenon can be seen in most colleges. For example, at Dartmouth there was a section of the main library that was open twenty-four hours a day and the students I used to see in there late at night crowded in groups, drinking coffee, were definitely pseudo-working. By placing themselves in distracting environments and insisting on working long hours, these students are damaging their brain’s ability to think clearly and efficiently to accomplish the task at hand. In the end they get half the results with twice the effort. The bigger problem here is that most students don’t even realize that they’re pseudo-working. To them pseudo-working is work — it’s how they’ve always done it, and it’s how all of their friends do it. It never crosses their mind that there might be a better way. Straight-A students, on the other hand, know all about pseudo-working. They fear it, and for good reason it not only wastes time, but it’s also mentally tiring. In fact, the most important skill in becoming a better student is the ability to get work done quickly and with a minimum of wasted effort. Some cognitive science research concludes that about 50 minutes is the optimal learning period to maximize the material learned per time unit. So how can students manage to study efficiently? One key factor is in the following simple formula: work accomplished = time spent×intensity of focus. Pseudo-working features a very low intensity of focus. Therefore, to accomplish something by pseudo-working, you need to spend a lot of time. The straight-A student maximizes of focus in order to minimize time. 12. Which of the following phenomenon is an example of pseudo-working? A. Mike is sitting in the study room in preparation for a final exam quietly. B. Jack spends a long time in the library on his essay while listening to music. C. Tom is busy taking notes while attending a lecture. D. Alice and Sara are sitting on the sofa reading their favorite books. 13. What can be inferred from paragraph 3 and 4? A. Straight-A students believe some tasks are worth twice the effort. B. Students will get good grades once they realize that pseudo-working is ineffective. C. Negative effects of pseudo-working are not fully realized by many students. D. Too much thinking may weaken the brain’s ability of the students. 14. What does the underlined word “optimal” mean in paragraph 5? A. Least. B. Effective. C. Fast. D. Best. 15. Why does the author mention the formula in the text? A. To emphasize the importance of concentration. B. To explain the reason for spending much time. C. To show the benefit of working hard. D. To prove the necessity of accomplishing work. B 13. C 14. D 15. 根据第一段中的“The pseudo-worker looks and feels like someone who is working hard — he or she spends a long time in the library and is not afraid to push on late into the night — but, because of a lack of focus and concentration, he or she doesn’t actually accomplish much.(伪学习者看起来和感觉上都像是在努力学习的人——他或她在图书馆花很长时间,不怕熬夜到很晚——但由于缺乏专注和集中,他或她实际上并没有完成多少事情。)” 根据第三段中的“By placing themselves in distracting environments and insisting on working long hours, these students are damaging their brain’s ability to think clearly and efficiently to accomplish the task at hand.(这些学生把自己置于令人分心的环境中,坚持长时间学习,这损害了大脑清晰高效地思考以完成手头任务的能力。)”和第四段中的“The bigger problem here is that most students don’t even realize that they’re pseudo-working.(这里更大的问题是,大多数学生甚至没有意识到自己在伪学习。)” 根据最后一段中的“One key factor is in the following simple formula: work accomplished = time spent×intensity of focus. Pseudo-working features a very low intensity of focus. Therefore, to accomplish something by pseudo-working, you need to spend a lot of time. The straight-A student maximizes of focus in order to minimize time.(一个关键因素体现在以下简单的公式中:完成的工作量=花费的时间×专注强度。 故选A。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) Lightning (闪电) is a beautiful and inspiring phenomenon, but it can be deadly. Over the past 30 years, lightning has killed an average of 67 people per year in the United States alone. ____16____ . Follow these steps to safety the next time there’s fire in the sky. Find shelter immediately If you find yourself caught in a lightning storm, never stand under a tree, and avoid being close to power lines as they’re both excellent conductors (导体) of electricity and could potentially cause death, if not serious injury. ____17____ . It’s the key to minimizing danger. Watch out for dangers Windows provide a direct path for the lightning to travel. Keep windows closed, stay away from them and try to stay within inner rooms of the structure. ____18____ Using a landline phone is the main cause of lightning-related injuries. Lightning can travel into the home from through any material that conducts electricity. This includes landlines, electrical wiring, and plumbing. ____19____ Being near water is extremely dangerous during a lightning storm, so move away from the body of water. If you are fishing, swimming or on a boat, get out of the water immediately and hurry back to the bank. Stay inside Stay inside at least 30 minutes after the last strike. Don’t go out just because the rain is starting to let up. There is still a significant risk of lightning strikes from a departing storm. ____20____ . Lightning is dangerous but you can minimize your risk. The advice is simple: increase the awareness of avoiding danger and master proper knowledge to protect yourself from a thunderstorm. A. Get away from the water B. Prepare enough water C. Go to hospital quickly D. Don’t touch anything metal or electrical E. Find shelter near or under a stony shelter F. Wait for news that the danger has passed G. Fortunately, most lightning-related deaths are preventable 【答案】16 G 17. E 18. D 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 根据空前内容“Lightning (闪电) is a beautiful and inspiring phenomenon, but it can be deadly. Over the past 30 years, lightning has killed an average of 67 people per year in the United States alone.(闪电是一种美丽而鼓舞人心的现象,但它可能是致命的。 G“Fortunately, most lightning-related deaths are preventable(幸运的是,大多数与雷击有关的死亡是可以预防的)”承上启下,自然引出下文“Follow these steps to safety the next time there’s fire in the sky.(下次有闪电的时候,按照这些步骤去保证安全)”。故选G。 【17题详解】 根据上文内容“If you find yourself caught in a lightning storm, never stand under a tree, and avoid being close to power lines as they’re both excellent conductors (导体) of electricity and could potentially cause death, if not serious injury. 【18题详解】 根据空后内容“Using a landline phone is the main cause of lightning-related injuries. Lightning can travel into the home from through any material that conducts electricity. This includes landlines, electrical wiring, and plumbing.(使用固定电话是雷击相关伤害的主要原因。 根据本段内容“Being near water is extremely dangerous during a lightning storm, so move away from the body of water. If you are fishing, swimming or on a boat, get out of the water immediately and hurry back to the bank.(在雷暴期间,靠近水是非常危险的,所以远离水体。 A“Get away from the water (远离水)”正是本段主要内容。故选A。 【20题详解】 根据上文“Stay inside at least 30 minutes after the last strike. Don’t go out just because the rain is starting to let up. There is still a significant risk of lightning strikes from a departing storm.(在最后一次袭击后至少待在室内30分钟。 F“Wait for news that the danger has passed (等待危险过去的消息)”是上文内容的延续,指的是不要着急出去,要待在室内等着危险已经过去的消息。 When studying at the University of Pittsburgh, I went home to Virginia to see my family one weekend. “Look, I got a best sportsman’s jacket!” I said. AI is undoubtedly a useful tool that provides instant feedback and enriches learning resources, which can boost study efficiency. However, it risks becoming a substitute for thinking if overused, harming our ability to think independently. To use AI properly, here are two suggestions. First, treat AI as a “learning partner” rather than a “doer”. Finish drafts independently before checking with AI and analyzing differences. B In the middle of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, Amanda Barrows carefully placed a wooden nightstand (床头柜) on the ground. C Imagine that you are in a crowded place. D Jason, a straight-A student from the University of Pennsylvania, uses the term “pseudo-working” to describe how many of us study. B.
