B Born in Hainan province, Chen Xingrong could not say a word until he was 2 years old. After he was diagnosed with autism, his parents sank into extreme sorrow. Autism is a nerve (神经) develop mental disorder characterized by varying degrees of difficulty in communication skills and social interactions, and by repetitive patterns of behavior sometimes. There are at least 10 million cases of autism in China, with more than 2 million of which are children, according to a report released in 2015. In 2012, Chen Xunhu learned that swimming could help people with autism improve their vital ability, so he spent months learning how to swim by watching videos and reading books. “I spent three months teaching my son, but the efforts were in vain.” he recalls. But to his surprise, after another three months, he discovered that his son had developed the ability to control his breath under water, which significantly built up his son’s confidence, and swimming soon became a key activity for the family. The father laid the ground work for his son’s swimming lessons. On one wall of their home hangs a table for Chen Xingrong’s routine exercises. Last year the father took his son to take part in the 11th National Paralympic Games and the eighth Special Olympics in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. His son managed to claim five medals, including a gold. In 2010 an autism-themed film, titled Ocean Heaven, hit the big screen in China. It describes how a father attempts to teach his son the necessary life skills to live without him. Afterwards, the father organized about 500 people to watch the film together in the cinema. “I wanted the public to know more about autistic people so as to reduce misunderstanding.” says the father. Thanks to his father’s perseverance, Chen Xingrong has also learned some basic life skills. “He does voluntary jobs at supermarkets and fast-food restaurants.” says his father, “He is part of the community, and I hope he will live a wonderful life in the future.” 4. What’s the father’ intention to organize the film? A. To show a moving film for others. B. To teach his son necessary life skills. C. To express his gratitude to the community. D. To give autistic people a better understanding. 7. What can we learn from the story? A. Family love makes a difference. B. Education is the key to success. C. Happiness comes from struggle. D. Misfortune leads to a good result. C With millions of riders on the road, China’s food delivery industry has long prided itself on being able to reach every corner of the country. Now, Meituan is even offering to deliver takeout to the Great Wall — dropped off not by a worker on an electric bike, but by a drone (无人机) sliding from the sky. For the millions of tourists who visit the Great Wall each year, the drone delivery service offers a new level of convenience. Visitors can now order meals and drinks via their smartphones, with drones delivering their orders to their locations on the wall, which eliminates the need for tourists to leave their spots, allowing them to fully engage in the experience of visiting the Great Wall without interruptions. The Great Wall drone route extends from a nearby hotel rooftop to a watchtower on the southern part of Badaling, an area previously free of commercial (商业的) facilities. “That’s where drones can help,” Yan Yan, public affairs director of Meituan’s drone business, told CCTV. “Through drones, we can make trips that take 50 minutes on foot in five minutes and deliver heat relief objects and emergency supplies to visitors.” Once an order is received, a Meituan worker will pick it up from a nearby store and bring it to the hotel rooftop, where it will be weighed and packaged. An operator then ties the package to the drone, which will fly on autopilot to the watchtower, where another worker waits to receive it and hands it over to the customer. The company will initially offer free delivery while it tests the service, and claims that pricing will stay similar to that of regular deliveries afterward. Meituan’s drone delivery at the Great Wall is another example of how drone technology can be used for the last mile. The program could serve as a model for similar services in other tourist-heavy or geographically challenging locations worldwide and have a promising future. 8. What does the underlined word “eliminates” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Ignores. B. Identifies. C. removes. D. Satisfies 9. How does Yan Yan sound about the drone delivery? A. Critical. B. Doubtful. C. Unconcerned. D. Approving. 10. What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us? A. How the packages are attached to the drones. B. How the drone delivery service is carried out. C. How operators control the routes of the drones. D. How customers’ order information is received. 11. What are the main features of Meituan’s drone delivery service at the Great Wall? A. Convenient and innovative. B. Costly but dependable. C. Dangerous and time-consuming. D. Traditional but high-cost. D In times of intense stress, people sometimes let it out with a scream and a new study suggests that plants might do the same. Researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel has found that plants let out ultrasonic (超声的) screams when damaged or stressed by drought. The noises, falling within a range of 20 to 100 kilohertz, are too high-frequency for humans to hear, but other plants and some animals perceive them. Insects might be listening for sounds from stressed plants to assess their condition before laying eggs on their leaves. A moth (蛾) may decide against laying eggs on a plant that sounds water-stressed. Researchers attached recording devices directly to plants to listen for secret sounds inside their stems (茎). In drought, air bubbles formed, burst and caused vibrations (振动) within the tissue that normally carries water up the plants’ stems. The process was picked up by the attached recording devices, but researchers wanted to know if any plant sounds could travel through the air. So the team placed microphones 10 centimetres from stressed-out tomato and tobacco plants. They subjected one set of crops to drought and another to physical damage. A third group was untouched. The microphones did pick up distinct sounds. On average, drought-stressed tomato plants let out about 35 ultrasonic screams per hour, while those with cut stems made about 25. Drought-stressed tobacco plants let out about 11 screams per hour, and cut crops made about 15 sounds in the same time. The average number of sounds from untouched plants fell below one per hour. The researchers also attempted to identify each plant group just based on its screams. Using a type of artificial intelligence calculations, the team picked out distinct features in each set of sounds and successfully sorted their plants into three kinds: “dry, cut or untouched.” If it is not too costly to set up the recording in a field situation farmers might be able to hear these stress signals too. In future, enabling farmers to listen for water-stressed plants could “open a new direction”, which will be increasingly important as climate change exposes more areas to drought. 12. The moth is mentioned in paragraph 2 to show __________. A. moths need enough water when laying eggs B. some animals are able to hear plants scream C. some insects are picky about their surroundings D. wildlife species depend on each other when stressed 13. What can we learn from the research? A. Plants’ sounds couldn’t be detected by humans. B. Plants can be grouped according to their features. C. Plants’ screams are related to stress types in a way. D. Air bubbles contribute to the lack of water in plants. 14. What does the last paragraph focus on? A. Supporting evidence for the research result. B. Potential application of the research findings. C. A further explanation of the research methods. D. A reasonable doubt about the research process. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Plants’ Vibrations: Way to React to Stress B Stress Signals: Secret Newly Found in Plants C. Green Screams: Plants Make Noises When Stressed D. Ultrasonic Screams: Discovery Opens a New Chapter We all want to be successful. ___16___We tend to focus directly on the end goals, failing to realize our big goals are not going to happen overnight. When I was in the third grade, I was picked to be the princess in the school play, and for weeks my mother had practised my lines (台词) so hard with me. But no matter how easily I delivered them at home, as soon as I stepped onstage, every word disappeared from my head. Finally, my teacher took me aside. She explained that she had written a narrator’s (旁白) part to the play, and asked me to switch roles. I didn’t tell my mother what had happened when I went home for lunch that day. But she sensed my pain, and instead of suggesting we practice my lines, she asked if I wanted to walk in the yard. It was a lovely spring day and the rose vine (藤蔓) was turning green. Under the huge trees, we could see yellow daisies popping through the grass in bunches, as if a painter had touched our landscape with a little bit of gold. I watched my mother casually bend down by one of the daisies. “I think I’m going to dig up all these weeds,” she said, suddenly pulling a flower up by its roots. “From now on, we’ll have only roses in this garden.” “But I like daisies,” I protested (抗议). “All flowers are beautiful——even daisies.” My mother looked at me seriously. “Yes, every flower has its own beauty, doesn’t it?” she asked thoughtfully. I nodded, feeling pleased that I had won her over. “And that is true of people too,” she added, “Not everyone can be a princess. Hence, there is no shame in that.” Relieved that she had sensed my pain, I started to cry when I told her what had happened. She listened and smiled. Paragraph 1: “You will be a beautiful narrator,” she comforted. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Backstage on the night of the performance I still felt nervous. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 保密★考试结束前 六校联盟2025学年第一学期期中联考(2025.11) 高二英语试题卷 考生须知: 1. 1. 8. 故选A项。 D In times of intense stress, people sometimes let it out with a scream and a new study suggests that plants might do the same. Using a type of artificial intelligence calculations, the team picked out distinct features in each set of sounds and successfully sorted their plants into three kinds: “dry, cut or untouched.” If it is not too costly to set up the recording in a field situation, farmers might be able to hear these stress signals too. In future, enabling farmers to listen for water-stressed plants could “open a new direction”, which will be increasingly important as climate change exposes more areas to drought. 12. The moth is mentioned in paragraph 2 to show __________. A. moths need enough water when laying eggs B. some animals are able to hear plants scream C. some insects are picky about their surroundings D. wildlife species depend on each other when stressed 13 What can we learn from the research? A. Plants’ Vibrations: Way to React to Stress B. Stress Signals: Secret Newly Found in Plants C. Green Screams: Plants Make Noises When Stressed D. Ultrasonic Screams: Discovery Opens a New Chapter 【答案】12. B 13. C 14. B 15. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Backstage on the night of the performance, I still felt nervous. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: “You will be a beautiful narrator,” she comforted. Upon hearing her comforting words, I held back my bitter tears, lost in deep thought. Hardly had she noticed the sadness on my face soften a little when she caressed my hair, adding, “No one is born to be a princess. Why not take advantage of narrator’s part?” With mother’s encouragement, I began to accept that the narrator’s part was of vital significance. In the following weeks, every lunchtime with my mother witnessed my mighty effort to practice my part of lines. So fast did time pass that the performance day arrived. Paragraph 2: Backstage on the night of the performance, I still felt nervous. Sweat oozing from my palms, it was at that very moment that I found a daisy in my pocket. In a flash, I realized my mother had passed the flower to me, which meant to be in company with me. Consumed with courage and confidence, I concentrated on my part and the performance turned out to be a great success, the audience standing up and bursting into thunderous applause. After the play, I put the daisy into my dictionary, which was a reminder of our precious lunchtimes, bathed in the soft midday light. 词汇激活 行为类 ①注意到:notice/take notice of ②利用:take advantage of /make use of ③集中:concentrate on/focus on 情绪类 ①伤心:sadness/sorrow ②紧张的:nervous/anxious 【点睛】【高分句型1】So fast did time pass that the performance day arrived.(运用了so...that结构的倒装句式) 【高分句型2】Sweat oozing from my palms, it was at that very moment that I found a daisy in my pocket.(运用了独立主格结构和强调句式) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
