Nowadays, most of the world’s population lives in the city, where poor air quality and noise pollution are common, and there is little chance to connect with nature. People may prefer going outdoors and enjoying the health benefits of being in nature. So, don’t be surprised that your doctor gives you a prescription (处方) for parks instead of pills.
Nature prescribing, gaining its popularity recently, involves a doctor encouraging patients to spend time in nature as a health activity. The nature-based activities have developed as an effective healthcare treatment to improve people’s well-being.
What are the nature prescriptions like? Well, doctors may give patients a variety of choices. Patients may choose direct exposure (接触) to nature, by using a natural space for running, walking, open-water swimming, or other physical activities. Other times, the exposure to nature might not be that obvious, such as biking along a path near a river on the way to work. Patients may also be encouraged to participate in environmental protection projects. For example, they can help build birdhouses in forests, which provide a safe space for birds to live in and raise their young.
Research into nature prescribing activities has found that participants experience both physical and mental health benefits. For example, nature-based activities can result in a reduction of blood pressure and better heart health. Besides, spending time in nature has been linked to lower levels of stress and anxiety. Not only that, an outdoor program in nature involving a group of people can also reduce feelings of loneliness among participants.
Nature prescribing has been carried out successfully throughout the world. For example, in England, the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust runs the Blue Prescribing Project. The project provides opportunities for people with poor mental health in London to enjoy the wetland environment. This has led to great improvement of their situation.
However, there are still several challenges when nature prescribing is adapted to different settings. One major difficulty is the need to train qualified health providers who can organize effective activities, which takes time and requires money. Moreover, since some patients may not find certain nature-based activities interesting, more activities need to be designed to meet various needs.
45.If patients want to take part in nature prescribing activities, they can ________.
A.swim for hours in an indoor swimming pool
B.paint birds and flowers at community libraries
C.plant trees in the local park near their houses
D.watch environmental protection programs on TV
46.What do you know about nature prescribing from the passage?
A.It can never take the place of having medicine.
B.It fails to benefit patients when carried out in London.
C.It works much better for physical health.
D.It requires further development to meet different needs other than mental health.
47.Which might be the best title for the passage?
A.From pills to parks: the influence of nature on health
B.A step into the wild: the time to protect our planet
C.A trip through forests: a chance to enjoy the beauty
D.From indoors to outdoors: an active way to relax

Do you know that sign language also has dialects (方言)? Sign language is the main way deaf people communicate. Since they can’t hear, it’s hard for them to communicate with hearing people. Luckily, sign language interpreters (传译员) are there to help.
Hao Shuxin, 24, sees sign language as her mother language, as her parents are deaf. In 2018, she became a sign language interpreter in Chongqing. Her work takes her to places like courts, where she interprets for deaf people in legal cases (法律案件).
Since sign language has fewer words, Hao often meets difficult words without a direct match. In such situations, she carefully breaks down the meaning for deaf people. There are also grammatical differences between Chinese and sign language. “For example, the words ‘put out a fire’ are signed as ‘a fire put out’ in sign language, as deaf people describe what they see first,” Hao explained.
Hao feels stressed at work because being correct is important in interpretation. Her worry also comes from the fact that sign language has “dialects”. The same word can be expressed with different hand gestures (手势) depending on where a deaf person is from. Having traveled to over 30 cities in China, she has learned about the unique ways for deaf people across the country to use sign language.
In her free time, Hao reads many law books and talks with lawyers and her deaf coworkers to improve her professional ability. “I understand the difficulties faced by the deaf community, and I want to do everything I can to help them,” Hao said.
48.Hao is familiar with (熟悉) sign language mainly because _________.
A.she can’t hear anything B.she teaches sign language at school
C.her parents are deaf D.she loves to take care of people
49.According to the passage, deaf people may say “_________”.
A.pick up a football B.pick a football up
C.a football up pick D.a football pick up
50.Hao uses the following ways to improve her professional ability except (除了) _________.
A.reading law books B.talking with lawyers
C.traveling around the world D.talking with her deaf coworkers
51.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Chinese has fewer words than sign language.
B.Hao sometimes feels stressed as sign language has “dialects”.
C.Hao loves her job because she always feels relaxed at work.
D.There is almost no difference between Chinese and sign language.

My name is Henry Adams. When I was 27, I worked in San Francisco. One Saturday afternoon, I sailed my little boat, but a strong wind pushed my boat into the Pacific Ocean. Luckily, I was saved by a British ship heading to London.
I had only one dollar when I arrived in London. I was tired and hungry. At that moment, the window of a nearby house opened and a man said to me, “Come in here, please.” I was taken to a beautiful room. There were two old gentlemen discussing something.
The two gentlemen were brothers. ① One brother said, “If an honest and clever stranger arrives in London without friends and money, except (除了) for a £ 1,000,000 bank note, he will be hungry to death. If he goes to the bank to change this big note, the police will think he stole it and arrest (逮捕) him.” The other brother answered, “No, I disagree.”
The two gentlemen decided to end their argument with a bet (打赌). ② They chose me because I had an honest, clever face. Also, I was a stranger to England. One of them gave me an envelope (信封) and told me not to open it until I was in my hotel room.
③ After leaving the house, I opened the envelope and saw money inside it. I rushed to the nearest restaurant. After eating, I tried to pay with the money but discovered that it was a bank note worth five million pounds! It made my head swim. No one could possibly cash (兑现金) it. The owner said, “You can pay for the meal whenever you want, sir. I understand that you are a rich gentleman. You like playing jokes on people by dressing like a poor man.”
I quickly returned to the house but was told that they had left on a trip. Then I remembered the letter inside the envelope. It said, “In this envelope you will find some money. It is yours for only 30 days. At the end of that time, return to this house. We have a bet on you.” How strange ④
Then, I entered a clothes store to buy a cheap suit. When I showed the owner the bank note, he was angry since the salesman sold me such a terrible suit.

Climate scientists say that 50 percent of sandy beaches along the world’s shorelines (海岸线) could disappear over the next eight decades.
The study was published in the journal Nature Climate Change. Michalis Vousdoukas was the lead investigator (调查员). “Touristic areas which have sandy beaches as their main selling point will probably face strong results,” he said. Apart from economic value, beaches play an important environmental role. “Sandy beaches are important homes supporting various kinds of species. They also protect the coast from the effects of storms, so without sandy beaches other inland environments can be influenced by waves and saltwater,” Vousdoukas added.
Global sea levels have increased in recent decades. Major causes include fewer glaciers (冰川) and thermal expansion (热膨胀). The increasing heat changes more and more glaciers into water. Thermal expansion is the general increase in the size of a material as its temperature increases. The size of water becomes larger as it warms. Researchers examined satellite pictures showing shoreline changes during the past thirty years. They then used these trends (趋势) in two different climate change situations. One situation expected a small reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The other expected high greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions are related to climate change. By 2050, the researchers expected beach losses of between 13 and 15 percent. By 2100, the expected losses are from 35 to 49.5 percent, or 95,061 to 131,745 kilometers of beaches. Australia would lose more miles of sandy coastline than any other country, with 14,849 kilometers expected to be gone by 2100. Canada is expected to lose the second largest amount of coastline in terms of length. The United States could lose up to 5,530 kilometers. The well-known, popular beach Costa del Sol in Spain may disappear forever.
56.Sandy beaches play a role in the following aspects EXCEPT ________.
A.developing economy B.protecting environment
C.supporting animals D.reducing gas emissions

A.Because of touristic areas. B.Because of many storms.
C.Because of low temperature. D.Because of thermal expansion.
58.Which country is expected to lose the most miles of sandy coastline according to the text?
A.Australia. B.Canada. C.The United States. D.Spain.
59.The passage mainly talks about ________.
A.the reasons for climate change B.the losses of sandy beaches
C.the ways of protecting the coast D.the influences of waves and saltwater

About 41.1 percent of Chinese men were overweight or obese (肥胖的) compared with 27.7 percent of Chinese women, according to a study published in a well-known medical journal.
Chinese Body Mass Index (BMI体质指数) system describes overweight as BMI from 24 to 27.9 kg/m2 and obesity as BMI at or above 28 kg/m2. You can know your BMI with the following formula.
Researchers studied data from about 15.8 million people across about 250 cities in China. According to Chinese BMI standard, 34.8 percent of the studied population was overweight and 14.1 percent was obese. These people were aged 18 or above.
There are several reasons why men are more likely to be obese. As fathers, husbands, and brothers, men usually have to stand long-term excessive (过度的) stress and negative feelings which can make the body produce more stress hormones. Such hormones play a role in increasing fat collecting.
In order to reduce stress, men often tend to drink alcohol (酒), eat an unbalanced diet, and stay up late into the night. Some other habits, like sitting for too long without moving at work and sleeping irregularly (不规律地) are also closely related to obesity. All the above can add to the risk of becoming obese.
By region (地区), the percentage of overweight and obesity in the north was generally higher than that in the south, with Inner Mongolia (37.1 percent), Shandong (37.1 percent), and Hebei (36.6 percent) being the top three.
People in higher BMI groups tend to have a greater number of complications (并发症). The early examination and intervention (干预) are important ways to prevent obesity-related complications.
65.Was the percentage of obesity in Hebei higher than that in Shandong according to the study?
66.If a boy is 1.5 m tall and his BMI is 24 kg/m2, how heavy is he?
67.Why are men more likely to be obese according to the passage?
68.If you become a little overweight, will you make up your mind to lose weight? Why or why not? (about 30 words)

When you have failures, like failing a test or losing a chance to play your favorite sport, it’s easy to feel upset. Here’s a way to help you feel better.
Li Ming used to think of himself only as a student who gets top grades. Every time he failed the exam, he felt upset. Now, Li Ming has changed. He sees himself as a student, a painter, and a big brother. When he failed again in a math test, he said, “It’s okay. I’m still a good painter and a helpful brother.” He felt much better soon. Why did Li Ming make such a change? Because he learned to have “self-complexity (自我复杂性).” It means you see yourself in many different roles, not just one.
With self-complexity, when you have trouble getting bad grades as a “student” role, you won’t feel bad about the other roles like the “painter” role. So you can stay calm and keep going. Also, if you have a role like “home cook”, you may have a chance to develop your planning skills like buying food materials and managing time well. If you see yourself as a “a good pet owner”, you may quickly learn the skills of looking after animals and knowing what animals need. These skills can be very useful so you can know better about yourself.
However, some people say, “If you have too many different roles, you can’t do things well”. But a study by Dr. Lee proved (证明) this wrong. He asked two groups of students to try a hard science project. One group had high self-complexity (with many roles), and the other had low self-complexity (with only one role). The result shows if people have high self-complexity, they are more active in the project. They may come up with more ideas to deal with challenges. Also, they are more strong-hearted and won’t give up easily when facing challenges.
Finally, how to build self-complexity? First, if you are not clear about what roles you have, just write them down—like “friend,” “hobby lover” or “family helper.” Second, spend a little time on each role every week like playing basketball for 30 minutes after school. Third, when you feel down about one role, say out loud, “I’m more than just this.” It will help you remember your other roles.
If you often feel upset about failures, you can feel much better by 74 . Self-complexity means seeing yourself in many different roles, not just one. With Self-complexity, you can stay calm to face failures. Also, 75 so you can know yourself better. Some people disagree. However, a study shows that 76 because they’re more active and strong-hearted. Finally, some useful tips are suggested like 77 , spending time on each role and reminding yourself of your roles.

On this special day, I did some interesting things with my family. First, on the morning of the National Day, we watched the flag-raising ceremony on Tian’anmen Square on TV. It was a proud moment as the flag rose slowly. Everyone felt excited. Then, my family gathered for a reunion lunch at noon. We ate delicious food. After that, we went downtown in the afternoon. National flags were everywhere—on streets, in shops, and in people’s hands. They looked so beautiful! Also, in the evening, we saw colorful fireworks and a fantastic drone light show by the river. The words in the sky really helped to express our great love for the country. How amazing it was! At last, during the rest time of the 7-day holiday, we also visited a peaceful garden in the countryside. I felt lucky and relaxed to enjoy such a wonderful holiday in Grade Nine. Now I’m full of energy to return to school and study harder!

The Ancient Tea Horse Road was one of the most important trade roads in ancient China. It first began during the Tang and Song dynasties, and became very busy during the Ming and Qing dynasties. This road connected some important stops. It started from Pu’er in Yunnan province, where people grew the best tea. From there, it went northwest through several famous old cities. First it passed Dali, then Lijiang, and continued through the high mountains of Tibet. Finally, it reached other countries like India. The whole journey was very long and full of challenges. It might take many months to complete. Traders had to cross some of the highest mountains and deepest rivers. They faced bad weather, difficult road conditions, and other dangers during their long journey.
The road got its interesting name because of what people sold along it. Traders carried tea to sell and brought strong horses back. This exchange was so important that people called it the Tea Horse Road. But this road wasn’t just for trading goods. It became a bridge for different cultures to meet and share ideas as well. Therefore, experts also call it “Southern Silk Road.” Today, the Ancient Tea Horse Road has become famous for its beautiful views and rich history. Travelers from all over the world come to walk along the old roads. They can still see old tea houses, stone bridges, and the amazing views that the ancient traders saw long ago.

【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了自然处方这一新兴的健康活动,包括其定义、活动形式、对健康的益处以及在全球范围内的实施情况和面临的挑战。
45.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Patients may also be encouraged to participate in environmental protection projects. For example, they can help build birdhouses in forests, which provide a safe space for birds to live in and raise their young.”可知,患者可以参与环保项目,如在森林里建造鸟舍,由此可推断,患者可以在当地公园种树。故选C。
46.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“However, there are still several challenges when nature prescribing is adapted to different settings. One major difficulty is the need to train qualified health providers who can organize effective activities, which takes time and requires money. Moreover, since some patients may not find certain nature-based activities interesting, more activities need to be designed to meet various needs.”
通读全文可知,本文主要介绍了自然处方这一新兴的健康活动,包括其定义、活动形式、对健康的益处以及在全球范围内的实施情况和面临的挑战,结合第一段“So, don’t be surprised that your doctor gives you a prescription (处方) for parks instead of pills.”可知,文章主要围绕自然处方对健康的影响展开,因此A选项“从药片到公园:自然对健康的影响”最符合文章主旨。故选A。

57.Why did the size of water become larger?
A.Because of touristic areas. B.Because of many storms.
C.Because of low temperature. D.Because of thermal expansion.
58.Which country is expected to lose the most miles of sandy coastline according to the text?
A.Australia. B.Canada. C.The United States. D.Spain.
59.The passage mainly talks about ________.
A.the reasons for climate change B.the losses of sandy beaches
C.the ways of protecting the coast D.the influences of waves and saltwater

第Ⅱ卷(共50分)
VI. 任务型阅读。(65-66小题, 每小题 2分; 67-68小题, 每小题3分; 共10分)
阅读下文并回答问题。
【答案】
65.No, it wasn’t.
66.He is 54 kg./54 kg.
67.Because men usually have long-term excessive stress and negative feelings (which make the body produce more stress hormones to increase fat collecting).
68.Yes, I will. Because overweight may lead to complications and early intervention is crucial for health.
65.根据“with Inner Mongolia (37.1 percent), Shandong (37.1 percent), and Hebei (36.6 percent) being the top three”可知,河北的肥胖及超重比例低于山东。故填No, it wasn’t.
66.根据BMI公式可知,已知身高1.5 m,BMI 24,可得体重 = 24 × (1.5)² = 24 × 2.25 = 54 (kg)。故填He is 54 kg./54 kg.
67.根据“There are several reasons why men are more likely to be obese. As fathers, husbands, and brothers, men usually have to stand long-term excessive stress and negative feelings which can make the body produce more stress hormones.”可知,男性更易肥胖是因为长期过度压力和负面情绪使身体产生更多储脂的压力激素。故填Because men usually have long-term excessive stress and negative feelings (which make the body produce more stress hormones to increase fat collecting).
68.本题为开放性问题,答案不唯一,从健康角度说明减肥的必要性合理作答即可。参考答案为Yes, I will. Because overweight may lead to complications and early intervention is crucial for health.

72.只有以这种方式你才能把英语学好。
Only in this way learn English well.
【答案】can you
故填can;you。
73.achieve, in this way, chance, a, have, I, will, to, my, dream, only (连词成句)
【答案】Only in this way will I have a chance to achieve my dream.
【难度】0.4

75.根据“With self-complexity, when you have trouble getting bad grades as a ‘student’ role, you won’t feel bad...Also, if you have a role like ‘home cook’, you may have a chance to develop your planning skills...If you see yourself as a ‘a good pet owner’, you may quickly learn the skills of...”可知,自我复杂性帮助在不同角色中发展技能,从而更好地了解自己。故填building skills in different roles。
76.根据“The result shows if people have high self-complexity, they are more active in the project. They may come up with more ideas to deal with challenges. Also, they are more strong-hearted and won’t give up easily when facing challenges.”可知,研究证明高自我复杂性者更积极和坚强,能更好应对挑战。故填high self-complexity individuals succeed better。
77.根据“Finally, how to build self-complexity? First, if you are not clear about what roles you have, just write them down—like ‘friend,’ ‘hobby lover’ or ‘family helper.’”可知,文章结尾建议通过写下角色等步骤建立自我复杂性。故填writing down your roles。

Hello, everyone! The Military Parade on Sept. 3 touched my heart deeply and made me so proud of the great changes in our country in the past 80 years.
Back in the 1940s, things were difficult. Many people lost their homes and even their lives in cruel wars. Many children became child laborers to support their families and couldn’t get a good education. There were no computers, cellphones, or fast trains. But now everything is different. We have more food and clothes to meet needs. People can travel by high-speed trains, and children can study in modern schools or on the internet.
