Gas-Only Fuel-Efficient Vehicles These are traditional vehicles that use advanced engineering to deliver better fuel economy. Often labeled as “eco” or “green”, they include improvements such as lighter materials and engine start-stop systems. Good for: ·Budget-conscious buyers ·Highway commuters ·Areas with limited charging infrastructure Drawbacks: Fully dependent on gasoline and subject to rising fuel prices and vehicle emissions. Hybrid Electric Vehicles(HEVs) Hybrid Electric Vehicles combine a gasoline engine with an electric motor. Its motor assists the engine and regenerates energy. You don’t plug them in; they charge on the go. Good for: ·Urban drivers with stop-and-go traffic ·Long-distance commuters ·Drivers not ready for full electrification Drawbacks: Rely on gasoline and have smaller batteries than plug-in hybrids or EVs. Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles(PHEVs) PHEVs offer both a gas engine and a larger rechargeable battery. You can plug them in to charge the battery. It offers 15 — 60 electric miles before the gas engine starts. Good for: ·Short-distance commuters ·Households with home charging ·Drivers who want electric experience without full commitment Drawbacks: More complex drivetrains; require both fueling and charging. Battery Electric Vehicles(BEVs or EVs) Fully electric cars are powered only by electricity. They must be plugged in to recharge and do not use gasoline at all. Good for: ·Drivers with predictable daily routes ·Access to home or public charging ·Zero tailpipe emissions goals Drawbacks: Charging time and availability can be a hurdle for some lifestyles or road-trippers. 21. What is a disadvantage of Gas-Only Fuel-Efficient Vehicles? A. The outdated engine system. B. The unfashionable styling. C. The cost of a high initial purchase. D. The burden of rising fuel expenses. 22. What do HEVs and PHEVs have in common? A. Both have large batteries. B. Both have two power sources. C. Both must be plugged in to recharge. D. Both are suitable for long commutes. 23. Who may the text be intended for? A. Vehicle purchasers. B. Mechanical engineering majors. C. Automotive engineers. D. Environmental activists. B I hit an important milestone this week. About 100,000 people have read my writings. I never expected this scale when I decided to write one article every weekday. It made me wonder: would I keep on writing if no one ever read my words? The answer is yes, which brings me to an interesting question: why I write in the first place. Sure, I write because I enjoy the process. I have always loved writing, and I finally reached a level where I can write comfortably in English even though it’s not my native language. Plus, writing feels essential to my mental gym routine. But, the more I write, the more I realize writing is much more than that. Writing allows us to craft our own world, to untangle our confused thoughts, to design our own mental models and to make sense of our lives. Writing lets us sort out our messy thoughts and turn wondering thoughts into little carriers that may take a life of their own once outside our minds. In a world that’s so unpredictable, writing is the only thing I feel I have complete control over — not the kind of anxious and illusory control we think we have when we’re scared, but the liberating kind that one may experience when practicing a craft. Writing expands the mind, enlightens experience and creates deep connections with people around the world. It educates you and others — and in the process, you may find yourself. Among thousands of linked words and pages, you start to see patterns emerging — patterns that reveal more about your mind than any book written by someone else. If you’ve been thinking about writing, do it. If you already write, keep at it. It’s one of the few crafts that requires no special tool or investment. Just time, passion, and dedication. Commit to it and you will find new meanings where none existed before. 24. Why did the author mention her milestone? A. To present the challenge of writing. B. To display her achievement in writing. C. To introduce the impact of writing. D. To highlight her original intention of writing. 25. What does the underlined word “untangle” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Convey. B. Inspire. C. Clarify. D. Hide. 26. What can be inferred from the complete control brought by writing? A. It’s a control over readers’ understanding. B. It’s a control of anxiety and misconception. C. It’s a feeling of freedom from unpredictability. D. It’s a feeling of freedom born of practicing a skill. 27. What is the author’s main purpose in writing the passage? A. To encourage more people to write. B. To give advice on writing skills. C. To guide to write with less investment. D. To reveal the patterns of writing. C Researchers, Fengyin Du and her colleagues at Southeast University in Nanjing, China, have made a breakthrough by developing a new type of cement (水泥) in which tiny reflective crystals (晶体) of a mineral called ettringite collect on the surface. This new material, called supercool cement, has the potential to keep buildings cooler, cut down energy use, and help cities fight against climate change. Normally, cement absorbs infrared (红外线) radiation from the sun and traps heat during the day, making both buildings and cities hotter. But this new supercool cement works differently. It sends sunlight back and also gives off heat into the sky, meaning it does not store the heat inside. In simple words, it acts like a mirror during the day and a radiator at the same time. To make it, the team used common minerals like limestone and gypsum, crushed them into dust, mixed with water, and poured into molds. Air bubbles helped create small spaces where reflective crystals could grow. These crystals then made the cement capable of scattering sunlight effectively. Tests showed that the new cement worked efficiently. A test showed that the new cement can reduce surface temperatures by 9.7F(5.4℃) under direct sunlight compared to traditional cement. In one rooftop test, when the air temperature was about 101°F(38.4℃), the surface of the supercool cement stayed nearly 10 degrees cooler than the air around it. “It’s a useful material,” says Oscar Brousse at University College London. “You increase the reflective capacity as well as increasing the emissivity, so any energy that is captured or conducted to the material is emitted efficiently back.” However, measuring only the surface temperature of the material doesn’t tell us how it will perform in the real world, says Brousse, so it should undergo further testing. “It doesn’t mean that because the surface is 5℃ lower, the air temperature will be 5℃ lower around it. The effect locally may be greatly limited.” 28. How is the new cement different from normal cement? A. It cools the surrounding air B. It absorbs more infrared radiation. C. It traps heat and warms buildings. D. It reflects sunlight and releases heat. 29. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A. The production process of the new cement. B. The function of the crystals in the new cement. C. The reason for the new cement’s cooling effect. D. The selection of raw materials for the new cement. 30. How does the author present the effect of the new cement? A. By listing causes and effects. B. By showing test data. C. By quoting experts’ comments. D. By introducing a theory. 31. What is Oscar Brousse’s attitude towards the new cement? A. Objective. B. Indifferent. C. Supportive. D. Doubtful. D Clever design of the menu options on offer on any one day can make people much more likely to choose climate-friendly and healthier food, without any changes to the recipes. In a trial in a canteen used by 300 people at the University of Bristol, the students were offered the same 15 meals usually served each week — what changed was which were on offer at any one mealtime. “We’re not changing the recipes,” says Annika Flynn, a team member at the university. “Everything stays the same. It’s just the order and the days on which the dishes are being served.” The approach reduced the carbon footprint of the food they ate by 30 percent and the saturated fat (饱和脂肪) content by 6 percent. “We were able to achieve these reductions without consumers or, in this case, students, knowing,” says Flynn. The method works by using relative attractiveness. So if a beef lasagna (牛肉千层面) is a popular choice and a lentil curry (扁豆咖喱) is offered alongside it as a greener choice, most people may still go for the lasagna. But if the lentil curry is offered alongside a less popular meal, more will choose the curry. “What we realized is that a lot of interventions tend to encourage consumers to eat a little bit more or less of something,” says Flynn. “But the likelihood that we choose a dish will be mostly dependent on whether a tastier dish is on offer.” This technique is a form of “nudging”, developed under the SNEAK project. Flynn emphasizes that such stealthy approaches can be adopted in addition to encouraging people to consciously choose greener or healthier food. “We can do both. SNEAK can sit alongside a whole host of different approaches,” says Flynn. Flynn says her team is now considering how best to roll out the approach. “I think, ultimately, we would like to develop a platform where food service providers could input their menus and it would generate optimized menus tailored to that unique environment.” 32. What was changed in the trial? A. The serving arrangement of the dishes. B. The total number of weekly meals. C. The promotion of healthier meals. D. The ingredients of the recipes. 33. How can people promote a healthy dish according to relative attractiveness? A. By improving its taste and appearance. B. By advertising its health benefits clearly. C. By offering it next to a less popular dish. D. By putting it at the front of the serving line. 34. What is Flynn’s future plan for the SNEAK approach? A. To further test its effectiveness. B. To make it more eco-harmonious. C. To design menus for individual tastes. D. To make it accessible for food service providers. 35. Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A. The Necessity to Abandon Tasty Food B. A New Path to Reducing Carbon Footprint C. Menu Adjustments for Greener, Healthier Eating D. Green Dietary Choices for University Canteens Noticing that her school library had few books featuring characters who looked like her, 11-year- old Emi Kim decided to make a change by launching the Mirror Books Project. ____36____ With the money, she bought and donated books that reflect a wider range of people so everyone can feel included. With Mother's Day around the corner,my family invited Ollie and his grandma to our home for the Mother's Day tea party. To make this Mother's Day celebration more heartfelt, I suggested going to a flower shop to pick out a gift. Ollie agreed happily. Walking into the shop, we were greeted by a variety of flower-related items. Besides bouquets (花束) of flowers, there were floral greeting cards, flower bookmarks, flower crowns, and even flower-themed jewelry. However, looking at the price tags, Ollie sighed, “I want to buy roses for grandma, but I can barely afford a leaf!” We were walking home from the flower store, feeling a little defeated, when we saw our neighbor watering her garden. She waved and called out, “Good morning, kiddos!” Ollie waved back. “Good morning, Mrs. Nishikawa! Your garden is always so pretty.” “Oy! It's a mess.” She complained. “My back has been acting up, and I haven't weeded for days.” “I've got time to help.” Ollie offered. I quickly joined in. Mrs. Nishikawa was delighted. Knowing we were stuck for a Mother's Day gift, she said we could choose whatever flowers we liked for bouquets. Stunned by her generosity,we eagerly got to work. We cut, arranged and wrapped everything in big sheets of sparkly paper and strings. Filled with a sense of satisfaction, we continued our journey home. On the way, I suggested hiding the bouquets in my bedroom closet for the time being. Ollie agreed, adding that we would surprise everyone with them at the perfect moment. Before the party began, Ollie and I slipped into the bedroom to get our surprise. “NO0O!” Right there, happily rolling around in front of my closet, were two extremely naughty cats in the scattered petals (花瓣), stems (茎) and strings. It seemed that all our hard work was ruined. My heart sank. Seeing the big mess, I suddenly had an idea. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was time to present our carefully prepared gifts. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 广西2026届高三年级秋季学期11月阶段性联合测试英语试卷 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? What did the speaker do to help the young seabirds? A. She treated their injuries. B. She carried them to nests. C. She drew public attention. 20. What did the speaker think of the experience? A. Rewarding. B. Challenging. C. Effortless. A 19. C 20. W: Last year, I saw a kind of seabird when I was visiting an island. As winter comes, the adult seabirds will migrate to a warmer place, leaving their babies behind. And shortly after, the young seabirds will also fly off their nests themselves. Instead of searching for their parents, they are more likely to find something for their stomach. In the daylight, young seabirds head out to sea. However, when they return home at night, it’s a different story. Using stars for navigation, these birds can be easily misdirected by the light of the town. To help the birds, I joined a volunteer team. We managed to broadcast this phenomenon both online and in the community. What’s more, we carried the lost birds down to the beach and threw them up high before dawn. Some seabirds weren’t ready to be released if they were injured or whatever. In that case, they were taken to the local hospital. Whenever I saw them soar into the sky, I felt nothing but every bit of my effort paid off! A Types of Green Cars: From Gas Savers to Full Electrics From efficient gas-powered vehicles to plug-in hybrids and all-electric models, this guide helps you understand the wide range of green car options and which might be right for you. D 25. C 26. D 27. 根据第一段“About 100,000 people have read my writings. I never expected this scale when I decided to write one article every weekday. It made me wonder: would I keep on writing if no one ever read my words? C. Supportive. D. Doubtful. 【答案】28. D 29. A 30. B 31. The effect locally may be greatly limited.”(伦敦大学学院的奥斯卡·布罗塞表示:“这是一种很有用的材料。 A。 D Clever design of the menu options on offer on any one day can make people much more likely to choose climate-friendly and healthier food, without any changes to the recipes. Green Dietary Choices for University Canteens 【答案】32. A 33. C 34. D 35. 根据第二段“In a trial in a canteen used by 300 people at the University of Bristol, the students were offered the same 15 meals usually served each week — what changed was which were on offer at any one mealtime. “We’re not changing the recipes,” says Annika Flynn, a team member at the university. “Everything stays the same. It’s just the order and the days on which the dishes are being served.”(在布里斯托大学的一间供300人使用的食堂进行了一项试验。 故选A。 根据最后一段Flynn话“I think, ultimately, we would like to develop a platform where food service providers could input their menus and it would generate optimized menus tailored to that unique environment.(我认为,最终我们的目标是建立一个平台,让餐饮服务提供商能够输入他们的菜单,然后该平台会根据特定的环境生成最优化的菜单)”可知,团队未来的计划是开发一个平台,让餐饮服务提供商可以输入他们的菜单,并由平台生成优化的菜单。 根据第一段“Clever design of the menu options on offer on any one day can make people much more likely to choose climate-friendly and healthier food, without any changes to the recipes.(在任何一天所提供的菜单选项的设计若独具匠心,就能让人们更倾向于选择环保且健康的食品,而无需对食谱做出任何改动)”以及全文围绕一个核心实验展开:通过调整菜单选项的安排,在不改变食谱的情况下,成功引导人们选择了碳排放更低、更健康的食物。 Noticing that her school library had few books featuring characters who looked like her, 11-year- old Emi Kim decided to make a change by launching the Mirror Books Project. ____36____ With the money, she bought and donated books that reflect a wider range of people so everyone can feel included. 【36题详解】 根据上文“Noticing that her school library had few books featuring characters who looked like her, 11-year- old Emi Kim decided to make a change by launching the Mirror Books Project.(11岁的埃米·金注意到学校图书馆里几乎没有像她这样的人物形象的书籍,于是她决定做出改变,发起“镜像图书项目”)”以及后文“With the money, she bought and donated books that reflect a wider range of people so everyone can feel included.(用这笔钱,她购买并捐赠了一些能够反映更多不同人群的书籍,这样每个人都能感到自己是被接纳和包容的)”可知,空格前介绍了Emi决定做出改变,空格后提到“用这笔钱,她购买并捐赠了书籍”。 F“She started to organize bake sales and lemonade stands to raise money. G“They are an accessible way to “meet” new people and learn about cultures.(它们是“结识”新朋友和了解文化的一种便捷方式)”中,“They”指代书籍 “accessible way”对应“桥梁”的比喻,具体阐述了书籍连接不同人群和文化的作用,是对前句观点的阐释。 【38题详解】 根据上文“Her efforts have already brought impressive results. The first fundraiser brought in $762, allowing Emi to purchase 15 books for five local schools. These selections highlighted stories by and about Pacific Islanders, Asian Americans, African Americans, Indigenous peoples, and Latino and Hispanic Americans.(她的努力已经取得了显著的成果。 With those funds, Emi acquired 21 books focused on children with disabilities and varied family structures, donating sets to 12 different schools.(随后,又有一场募捐活动筹得了超过3000美元。 C “The first success inspired Emi to make an even greater impact. 【39题详解】 根据后文“Emi spends hours reading in the library and watching online storytelling videos. This careful research helps her discover many meaningful stories. Among her favorites is Eyes that Kiss in the Corners, a story about an Asian girl learning to love the unique shape of her eyes. Another is A Kind of Spark, whose neurodivergent protagonist resonates deeply with Emi.(埃米会在图书馆里花费大量时间阅读书籍,并观看在线的故事情节视频。 A“Choosing suitable books is a thoughtful process. 【40题详解】 根据上文““I want every child to find themselves in a story,” Emi said. Her project has already touched hundreds of students, whether it’s a child who finally saw their family in a book, or a classmate who handed her a thank-you card.(埃米说:“我希望每个孩子都能在故事中找到自己的影子。” E “These moments fuel her commitment to expanding the project’s reach. In 1968, Ruth Davis and her husband Geza Teleki became Jane Goodall’s research assistants at Gombe Stream, a remote chimpanzee reserve in Tanzania’s East African Rift, where Jane discovered that chimpanzees made and used tools. Your pronunciation is clear and understandable, which is a great start! However, there are two areas to improve: you rushed through several lines, failing to capture the gentle rhythm of Tang poetry, and your expression was a bit flat, lacking the emotional depth the poem conveys. My suggestions: First, listen to professional recitations repeatedly to learn about pauses and intonation. Second, read the poem’s background story to feel its mood — joy, sorrow, or heroism. Practice slowly at first, then gradually speed up. I’m sure your revised video will stand out! Practice slowly at first, then gradually speed up. You can start by practicing the poem slowly at first, and then you can gradually speed up the pace as you become more familiar with its rhythm and emotional nuances. 1】Thanks for sharing your Tang poetry recitation video for Chanting the Chinese Classics Worldwide.(运用了动名词作宾语) 【高分句型2】Your pronunciation is clear and understandable, which is a great start!(运用了which引导非限制性定语从句) 第二节(满分25分) 67. My best friend Ollie has lived with his grandmother since he was a baby. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Seeing the big mess, I suddenly had an idea. I quickly rummaged through my craft supplies and found some colorful felt and ribbons. I suggested to Ollie that we make felt flowers instead. He was a bit hesitant at first, but seeing my determination, he joined in. We sat down and started cutting, shaping, and gluing the felt. In no time, we had created beautiful felt bouquets, even more unique than the original ones. It was time to present our carefully prepared gifts. Ollie and I walked into the living room where our families were waiting. With big smiles on our faces, we handed the felt bouquets to Ollie's grandma and my mom. Explaining the story behind them, our moms were deeply touched. Ollie's grandma had tears in her eyes, saying it was the most special Mother's Day gift she'd ever received. We felt a warm sense of joy, knowing our efforts had paid off. 词汇激活 行为类 ①翻找:rummage through /search through ②加入:join in /participate in ③解释:explain /account for 情绪类 ①犹豫:hesitant /indecisive ②快乐:joy /pleasure 【点睛】[高分句型1] . As winter comes, the adult sea birds will migrate to a warmer place, leaving their babies behind. And shortly after, the Young sea birds will also fly off their nests themselves. Instead of searching for their parents, they are more likely to fine something for their stomach. In the daylight, Young sea birds head out to sea. However, when they return home at night, it's a different story. Using stars for navigation, these birds can be easily misdirected by the light of the town. To help the birds, I joined the volunteer team. We managed to broadcast this phenomenon both online and in the community. What's more, we Carried the lost birds down to the beach and threw them up high before dawn. Some sea birds weren't ready to be released if they were injured or whatever. In that case, they were taken to the local hospital. Whenever I saw them, saw into the sky, I felt nothing. But every bit of my effort paid off.
