【原文】M: Hi, everyone. I want to share with you what it’s like being on a cooking show. Many people think it’s easy, but actually it’s very stressful. I usually arrive at the studio around 7 a.m. First, I meet with the producer and we go through the script for the day. Then I go to the dressing room to change into my chef’s uniform. After that, the make-up artist makes sure I look good on camera. This usually takes only about 15 minutes because I don’t wear much make-up. We begin filming at around 9 a.m. But things don’t always go smoothly. Sometimes the cameras don’t work or the sound is not clear, so we have to wait. When everything is ready, I start cooking and talking to the camera at the same time. It’s hard to do both. We usually finish by 5 p.m., but it depends on how many mistakes we make. After filming, I take off my uniform, say goodbye to the team and go home to rest. It’s a long day, but I love sharing my recipes with the audience.

Putting an egg in a microwave can make it explode. Could the invisible waves around us harm our bodies? Chinese mathematician Wang Hong answered: no. Her groundbreaking research showed that high-frequency waves follow strict rules and cannot gather dangerous energy to hurt us. Her work was praised as a great achievement in a century.
What is more surprising is that Wang was never seen as a genius. In the College Entrance Exam, she scored 136 in math. It was a good score, but not the kind tied to legendary talent. In 2007, at just sixteen, she entered Peking University. Only a year later, she made a big decision to transfer to the School of Mathematical Sciences. Wang had never received special training for math contests. Surrounded by very talented classmates, she admitted, “At first, my grades were not very good either. I improved through hard work.” She found joy in solving hard problems for long hours. Focusing on one idea and patiently exploring every possibility slowly became an important part of her daily life.
In 2011, Wang moved to France for further studies. For the first time, she slowed down and asked herself, “What do I truly love?” She once thought about giving up math to study architecture. But after careful thought, she returned to math with a deeper belief. She found her own rhythm: working hard when inspiration came, and resting without guilt when it faded.
Some people say Wang shows a mix of Chinese perseverance and French ease. This helps explain why French President Emmanuel Macron personally congratulated her. He praised her as a role model for young women worldwide. Today, both China and France take pride in her success. Despite the fame, Wang remains calm. As she puts it, “Just let things happen naturally.”
24. Why does the author mention the exploding egg in the beginning?
A. To arouse readers’ interest. B. To imply a potential danger.
C. To explain a physical principle. D. To highlight high-frequency waves.
25. How did Wang Hong rise to the academic challenges at Peking University?
A. She preferred to memorize formulas for exams.
B. She expected quick solutions from her teachers.
C. She buried herself in solving complex problems.
D. She handled problems with her exceptional math talent.
26. What can we learn about Wang Hong after moving to France?
A. She decided to quit mathematics to pursue architecture.
B. She managed to strike a balance between work and rest.
C. She found it hard to adapt to the French academic style.
D. She confirmed her passion for mathematics on her arrival.
27. Which of the following best describes Wang Hong?
A. Talented and generous. B. Diligent and humble.
C. Confident and stubborn. D. Ambitious and considerate.
【答案】24. A 25. C 26. B 27. B

Researchers are growing worried that handing intellectual tasks to AI may cause cognitive (认知的) decline. A new study adds a finding worth noticing: using chatbots can eat away at users’ faith in their own abilities, leading to lower confidence in their independent reasoning.
The new study, published in Technology, Mind and Behavior and flagged by TIME, found that people who relied heavily on AI were more likely to admit chatbots were “thinking” for them — and seemed to show less confidence in their own ideas. Participants who controlled AI’s output by editing, questioning, or rejecting it showed greater confidence and ownership of the final work, even though they used the same tools.
Sarah Baldeo, the author, told TIME that the cognitive effects “depend on your interaction style.” “When we look at brain activity dependent on how people choose to use the tool, we can see increases or decreases,” she said. “It really doesn’t have to do with the tool itself.”
This finding lines up with another study from MIT and Carnegie Mellon. It offered the first causal evidence that AI can rapidly degrade users’ intellectual abilities, particularly when we use the tech for “reasoning-intensive” work.
During that study, participants in the experimental group were given AI access to complete a series of equations (方程式). The researchers then took the AI away in the middle of their work, forcing them to continue without it. Those who had been abandoned by their AI chatbots showed rapid declines in reasoning ability and were less willing to follow-through and complete the math tasks.
Both studies point to the same mechanism: how you use AI matters. Letting the machine do all the work degrades your ability for independent reasoning, while using AI as an assistant may help to preserve it. So the key question is: are you using AI to help you think, or is AI doing the thinking for you?
28. What can we learn from the new study?
A. People rely more on AI because it often thinks for them.
B. People lose faith in AI because it often gives faulty answers.
C. Heavy AI users get more intelligent in independent reasoning.
D. Heavy AI users become less confident in their own judgements.
29. What do the cognitive effects of AI mainly depend on according to Sarah Baldeo?
A. The type of the task. B. The choice of AI tools.
C. The way of using AI. D. The difficulty of the task.
30. What were the participants in the experimental group asked to do?
A. Control AI’s output by editing and questioning it.
B. Finish math tasks with AI and then go on without it.
C. Complete the math tasks by abandoning AI chatbots.
D. Do the math tasks with AI throughout the experiment.
31. What is the author’s attitude toward using AI for intellectual tasks?
A. Objective. B. Doubtful. C. Indifferent. D. Optimistic.
【答案】28. D 29. C 30. B 31. A
【解析】
【导语】本文介绍了关于人工智能对人的认知产生影响的相关研究,并探讨不同使用方式带来的不同效果。
【28题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段“A new study adds a finding worth noticing: using chatbots can eat away at users’ faith in their own abilities, leading to lower confidence in their independent reasoning. (一项新研究得出一个值得关注的结论:使用聊天机器人会消磨用户对自身能力的信心,让他们对自己独立推理的信心下降。)”可知,重度AI使用者对自己的判断信心减弱。
【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“Sarah Baldeo, the author, told TIME that the cognitive effects “depend on your interaction style.” (该研究的作者Sarah Baldeo告诉《时代》周刊,这种认知层面的影响 “取决于你的交互方式。”)”可知,AI带来的认知影响主要取决于使用AI的方式。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段“During that study, participants in the experimental group were given AI access to complete a series of equations (方程式). The researchers then took the AI away in the middle of their work, forcing them to continue without it. (在该研究中,实验组参与者可以使用AI完成一系列方程式,之后研究人员在中途撤走AI,迫使他们在没有AI的情况下继续做题。)”可知,实验组受试者先用AI完成数学任务,之后在没有AI的条件下继续完成任务。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“Letting the machine do all the work degrades your ability for independent reasoning, while using AI as an assistant may help to preserve it. (让机器包揽所有工作会削弱独立推理能力,而将AI作为助手使用则有助于维持该能力。)”可知,作者客观陈述两种使用方式带来的不同结果,没有偏向支持或反对,态度客观。
D
Not long ago, China completed an unusual rocket recovery. After liftoff, the first stage — the large bottom section — separated from the upper part and began its return. It was later caught by a huge net system on a platform at sea. When people hear “net recovery,” they may picture the entire rocket falling into a giant net. In fact, that is not what really happens.
A launch vehicle usually has several stages, and the first stage produces most of the thrust (推力) before separating, after which the upper part continues upward while the first stage begins to descend. In the past, it often fell into the sea and was lost after a single flight, even though it contained engines, fuel tanks, and control systems — valuable components that could not be recovered safely without damage. But now, technological advances can make it. If it could be brought back, inspected, and flown again, engineers could reduce waste and lower launch costs.
Yet how does it return safely? After separation, the first stage adjusts its direction and restarts its engines to slow down, while tracking systems measure its position and navigation and control systems guide its path. It must slow down enough for a safe capture, and in the final stage, it meets the platform’s net, cables, and shock absorbers. Nevertheless, this is not an ordinary net, because the stage is still moving and carries energy. If stopped too suddenly, it could damage both the stage and the equipment, so the net and cables stretch gradually while shock absorbers reduce the impact. Unlike a fishing net, it does not stop the stage at once. The system is more like a giant seat belt, as it must catch the stage and protect it at the same time.
Clearly, this is not simply about catching a falling object. It is a precise operation made possible by the close coordination of the returning first stage, its engines and computer systems, the tracking equipment, and the platform at sea.
32. What is the common misunderstanding of “net recovery”?
A. The net stretches gradually to reduce the impact.
B. A huge net is supposed to catch the whole rocket.
C. The first stage is slowed down by restarting its engines.
D. The recovery depends on tracking and navigating systems.
33. What does the underlined word “descend” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Go downward. B. Float around.
C. Move backward. D. Sink to the seabed.
34. Why does the author compare the system to a giant seat belt?
A. To stress their combination. B. To reveal their disadvantages.
C. To explain their similar function. D. To show their identical material.
35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. Rocket Recovery: A Cost-cutting Step
B. Rocket Recovery: How to Recover a Rocket
C. Net Recovery: An Environmentally-friendly System
D. Net Recovery: More than Catching a Falling Rocket
【答案】32. B 33. A 34. C 35. D
【解析】
【导语】本文主要介绍中国海上火箭网式回收,纠正大众误解并讲解整套回收系统的原理与特点。
【32题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中的“When people hear “net recovery,” they may picture the entire rocket falling into a giant net. In fact, that is not what really happens.(当人们听到“网式回收”,可能会以为整枚火箭掉进一张巨网之中。事实上真实情况并非如此。)”可知,人们普遍误以为巨网要接住整枚火箭。
【33题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第二段中的“A launch vehicle usually has several stages, and the first stage produces most of the thrust (推力) before separating, after which the upper part continues upward while the first stage begins to descend.(运载火箭通常分为数级,一级在分离前提供大部分推力,之后上面部分继续向上飞行,一级则开始descend。)”可知,上面部分向上,与之对照,一级是向下运动,由此推知descend表示“向下运动”,因此画线单词与“Go downward”意义相近。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中的“The system is more like a giant seat belt, as it must catch the stage and protect it at the same time.(这套系统更像一条巨大的安全带,因为它既要接住火箭一级,同时还要对它加以保护。)”可知,作者把该系统比作安全带,是为说明二者功能相近,都有承接和保护的作用。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“When people hear “net recovery,” they may picture the entire rocket falling into a giant net. In fact, that is not what really happens.(当人们听到“网式回收”,可能会以为整枚火箭掉进一张巨网之中。事实上真实情况并非如此。)”以及尾段中的“Clearly, this is not simply about catching a falling object. It is a precise operation made possible by the close coordination of the returning first stage, its engines and computer systems, the tracking equipment, and the platform at sea.(显然,这并不只是接住一个下落物体那么简单。

TIPS FOR TRACKING SMART
Used correctly, health monitors help people not only achieve goals but also set goals. They’re great for accountability, education, and giving us information. Here’s how to get the most out of your smart device.
Take it one goal at a time. Be clear on what your goal is. Today’s technology can monitor so many different things that the possibilities can be overwhelming. Sleep? Stress? Exercise? Diet? ____36____
Have a plan for how to use the information. ____37____ Smart devices provide information, but unless you take action and change some habits, there won’t be any benefit. Most wearables link to health and fitness apps that can suggest actions based on the data that’s gathered. For instance, if you sit at a desk all day, the apps can trigger reminders to get up and move every half hour or so.
View the information objectively. Recognize that one piece of information doesn’t tell the complete picture. Many of the things that trackers measure go through normal changes throughout the day. Blood pressure increases with activity. ____38____ Heart rate, stress level, and fatigue also vary. You may need to discuss the data from your device with your health-care provider to understand what it means.
Take periodic breaks. People who are using a fitness tracker all the time are advised to go out and move their bodies without it for a day or a week. ____39____ This temporary break from data allows you to reconnect with your own feelings. It’s good for self-reflection and a good tune-up for yourself.
____40____ Don’t ignore what your body is telling you. You don’t want to have the information from a tracker overtake your awareness. Ask yourself, “How am I feeling today?” and “Do I feel rested?” The body knows when it’s tired.
A. Pick one to start.
B. Be aware of your body signals.
C. Blood sugar varies with what we eat.
D. Sleep for a week without looking at the data.
E. Just collecting your data won’t make you healthier.
F. It is unnecessary to buy one expensive device that fits your needs.
G. A goal can help you select a reliable device that measures the most meaningful thing.
【答案】36. A 37. E 38. C 39. D 40. B

AI-Assisted Grading Tool: A Helpful Tool?
Recently, an increasing number of high schools have adopted AI-assisted grading tools. Undeniably, these tools offer significant benefits if used properly.
First, AI grades essays much faster and identifies errors more efficiently. This not only greatly reduces teachers’ workload but also provides students with instant feedback for revision. Furthermore, AI ensures that scoring standards remain consistent, avoiding human bias.

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
April’s birthday was coming up, and she was determined to have a normal party this year. As her parents were enthusiastic environmentalists, every previous birthday had been tied to Earth Day. When she turned seven, they held a “Throw-Out Blowout” garage sale. At eight, it was a “Tree Spree” where they planted maples. Last year, they collected newspapers to recycle. April appreciated nature, but she was tired of her special day always feeling like a school project.
Thus, April insisted there would be “nothing earthy about it.” “I just want a normal birthday party this year,” she complained to Bailey, who, as her best friend, really understood her. So did April’s parents, who eventually agreed she could plan her own birthday party as she wished.
“I’d like to go to the Amusement Park!” April decided. There would be thrilling roller coasters, fun carousel rides (旋转木马), splendid sky wheel, and nothing earthy about it. Just pure fun!
In the days leading up to her birthday, April invited her friends, and they carefully planned the trip together: studying the park map, choosing the most thrilling rides, and preparing their favorite snacks. “This time,” April told them eagerly, “there will be no shovels, no collecting recyclables. Nothing earthy! Just pure fun!” Her friends all cheered, sharing her excitement for a carefree day.
However, when April and her friends gathered at the parking lot of the Amusement Park, they were greeted by a shocking mess. Plastic bottles bounced across the cement (水泥地). Newspapers and fast-food wrappers choked the storm drain (排水管). Shopping bags rustled in the trees. Her friends glanced around, their smiles disappearing into awkward silence. April’s excitement faded.
She stood frozen. Although she had tried so hard to escape Earth Day, the earth seemed to be calling her back. Looking at the litter, she knew she couldn’t just pretend it wasn’t there. Taking a deep breath, she turned to her friends and spoke up hesitantly. “I know this isn’t what we planned, but…”
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;

Paragraph 2: Just as they finished, April and her friends walked into the bustling Amusement Park.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考答案:
“Can we pick up the garbage first?” April continued. Bailey, her best friend, nodded first. She started with the bottles rolling across the cement. April dug wet newspapers and wrappers out of the storm drain, while two friends freed shopping bags from the branches. Others swept the ground with borrowed brooms. They worked together as they did on previous Earth Days. Before long, they had filled three bags with bottles, cans, and paper to recycle; their hands grew dirty. Piece by piece, minute by minute, the drain ran freely, and the cement shone in the sun with everyone pitching in. April exchanged tired smiles with her friends.
Just as they finished, April and her friends walked into the bustling Amusement Park. They unfolded the map they had studied together and headed straight for the most thrilling roller coasters. Wind rushed past; their screams mixed with music and popcorn smells. Then they spun on the carousel rides, April choosing a star-painted horse and Bailey a blue one. By sunset, they climbed onto the sky wheel. At the top, Bailey pulled out a small cupcake with a candle. “Happy birthday, April!” they cheered. April blew it out and shared the cake as the park lights twinkled below. “Maybe a little earthy,” she whispered, “but perfectly fun.”

A Caribbean Cruising Guide
The Caribbean is a famous tropical tourist destination consisting of thousands of islands across the Atlantic Ocean. It is renowned for sunny days, white-sand coasts, and unique local cultures.
Popular Activities
The Caribbean suits both active and lazy holidays. Travelers can enjoy water sports like snorkeling, diving, and paddleboarding in clear seawater. They can also try thrilling zipline adventures on many local courses. For relaxation, they may simply rest on the beach or take a hiking trip. When tired of sunlight, visitors can choose air-conditioned island tours, duty-free shopping, and scenic rail trips. They can also learn cooking and handcrafting from local experts to experience authentic island culture.
Best Time for Cruising
The Caribbean enjoys warm weather all year round. Winter and spring are the best seasons, with mild temperatures and fewer visitors. The hurricane season falls from June to October, bringing more rain and occasional storms. Even so, summer remains a popular travel season, and travel insurance is recommended for summer voyages.
Main Cruise Regions
Caribbean routes are divided into Eastern, Western, and Southern ones. Eastern routes mainly cover the U. S. Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic, usually lasting one week. Western routes include Mexican and Jamaican ports with flexible short schedules. Southern routes focus on the ABC Islands and generally last at least 10 nights, mostly departing from San Juan.
Tips for Cruise Deals
Travelers can get lower prices by booking guaranteed cabins (they select for you), choosing lower-deck rooms or older ships. Last-minute discounts often appear four weeks before departure. Traveling before or after the peak season or during hurricane seasons is also an effective way to find cost-effective cruise packages.
21. Which activity can NOT be experienced by visitors in the Caribbean?
A. Sunbathing on the beach. B. Shopping for free in the stores.
C. Snorkeling and diving in the sea. D. Learning handcrafting from local experts.
22. Which is the best time for Caribbean cruising?
A. April and August. B. June and October.
C. July and September. D. March and December.
23. Which of the following methods helps travelers cut down cruise costs?
A. Booking higher-deck rooms. B. Choosing cabins as you like.
C. Sailing on a brand-new ship. D. Travelling in shoulder season.

D. Optimistic.
