Ⅲ. Teaching Procedure:
Learning Activities
Step 1 Lead-in
Play a video about the world's most extreme landmarks, such as the tallest building, the deepest ocean trench, the longest Great Wall, etc. After the video ends, ask students: What did you see in the video? Can you describe them in English? Guide students to try describing the characteristics of what they saw in English, thereby introducing the topic of superlative adjectives and adverbs.
Step 2 Presentation
Work on 3a
1. Ss read the sentences in 3a, observe the bold words, and then guide them to summarize the rules for forming the superlatives and adverbs.
2. The teacher explains the rules for forming the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs, and supplements with the superlative forms of irregular adjectives and adverbs.
3. Demonstrate how to use the superlative and adverb correctly through example sentences.
Step 3 Practice
Work on 3b and 3c
1. Ss independently complete the exercises in 3b and 3c while the teacher makes rounds to provide guidance.
2. Randomly ask Ss to answer, and then correct the answers collectively.
Step 4 Pair work
Ask Ss to describe their favourite animals, plants with each other. The teacher selects several groups to share their ideas.
Assessment of Teaching Effectiveness
1. Ss can focus on the questions and answer the questions actively after watch the video. Most of the Ss can try their best to use simple words or phrases to describe what they've seen.
2. Observe whether Ss can summarize the formation rules of the superlative by observing the bolded words, assesses their understanding and memorization of regular and irregular changes, and checks how they organize the grammar points.
3. Observe whether Ss can use the superlative form, assessing their language skills and the degree of mastery in applying the superlative in practical contexts.
Design Purpose
1. Playing a video of the world's extremes aims to quickly capture Ss' attention with highly impact visuals, stimulating their curiosity and interest in learning. Presenting examples of the superlative concept
in an intuitive way helps Ss initially build a perceptual understanding of the "superlative" in their minds, thus naturally leading into the topic of this lesson.
2. To help Ss discover and understand the grammar rules step by step, making them easier to learn and remember.
3. To let Ss practice using the new grammar on their own, helping them remember it correctly and build confidence.
4. To encourage Ss to use the grammar in real conversation, improving and making learning more active and enjoyable.

2. 1 vowel+1 consonant→Double the last letter + est big→biggest hot→hottest

4. Long adjectives (2+syllables): → Use most before the word beautiful→more beautiful interesting→more interesting

Ⅴ. Homework
Required:
1. Summarize the differences between the comparative forms and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs.
2. Construct a sentence using a superlative adjective or adverb. This sentence should describe the "most" thing in a certain field that you think, such as the biggest, the fastest, the tallest, etc.
Optional:
Create a "World's Greatest" poster and describe it using superlative adjectives or adverbs.
Ⅴ. Teaching Reflection
In this lesson, the concept of the superlative degree was introduced by guiding Ss to discuss the world's most extreme phenomena, which successfully activated their prior knowledge and laid a foundation for deeper learning. Based on observation of Ss independently summarizing the rules for forming the superlative and their participation in exercises, most Ss were able to grasp the regular forms quite well. However, some difficulties remain in memorizing the irregular forms and applying them in practical use.
