There was a boy in India who was sent by his parents to a boarding school. Before being sent away, this boy was the brightest student in his class. He used to be at the top in every competition.

“One, two, three, four, five,” Fu Jiangyan counts in front of her phone camera at her sock shop in Yiwu, Zhejiang. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, Fu can create videos in 36 different languages within minutes, ready to post on Facebook and attract international customers.
This is possible through Chinagoods, a digital platform (平台) developed by Yiwu’s government. The platform uses AI to help businesses improve online marketing and connect with global trade.
Fu has been selling socks for 20 years. Now she uses DeepSeek, an AI tool, to write video scripts. This advanced technology has helped her attract buyers from the Middle East, South America and Africa. “My most-viewed video on Facebook has received 54,000 views,” she said excitedly.
Sun Lingyan from Chinagoods trains sellers like Fu to use the platform’s app. She believes that mastering AI is key to future business, saying that using AI tools should feel as natural as using a calculator.
AI training has helped many sellers get new skills and turn them into real orders. For example, toy seller Sun Lijuan reduced her product catalog (目录) design costs to zero. An AI-generated (AI生成的) video she posted on overseas social media received more than 100,000 views, leading to a Polish buyer ordering 20,000 dolls.
Digital assistants and AI-powered sales tools are now widely used in Yiwu’s market trade. Recent data shows that about 30,000 sellers use AI tools for business.
“As the ‘world’s supermarket’, Yiwu aims to keep up with advanced technology, hug AI, and improve efficiency for sellers,” Lou said.

A.Her 20 years of selling experience. B.Artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

In Chongqing, a mother broke the TV because her kid didn’t listen to her and kept watching it while eating. The news shows how many kids today can’t stop using phones, tablets, or watching TV too much. The mother’s action shows her anger, but it also teaches the child a bad lesson. Parents should guide kids wisely instead of using force (暴力) because real education (教育)comes from understanding, not from being afraid.
An 80-Year-Old’s Fight for Care
An 80-year-old Chinese woman took her two sons and a daughter to court (法庭)because they didn’t take care of her. Though she raised them with great love, her children now pay no attention to her. This thing shows how family traditions are becoming less important.
In 2024, Wang, a full-time housewife, was injured (受伤) in a traffic accident caused by Xu. Although Wang didn’t have a job outside, she was taking care of her family. Since Apple dropped its iPhone 17 on Sept 9, the “Cosmic Orange” color for the Pro model has turned heads. It is a move away from more common colors, such as white and black.
Colors are more than just visual effects (效果). According to the American Marketing Association, bright colors can make a product seem better, even if the color doesn’t actually change how the product works. This happens because the richness or purity of a color might make people more confident in the product.
Why is this? According to an article from the University of Leeds, when light comes into our eyes, special cells (细胞) at the back of our eyes react to different colors and send signals (信号) to the brain. Most signals go to the visual cortex (视觉皮层), where we see pictures. But some are sent to another part of the brain called the hypothalamus (下丘脑). This part controls things in our body, such as temperature and mood.
So, this means colors can change how our bodies feel. For example, blue light can make our blood flow and heartbeat slow down. It can also lower our blood pressure and help us relax, according to the University of Derby in the UK. Orange, on the other hand, wakes up our senses, making it great for catching attention.
However, no color has been shown to increase sales more than others, said researchers at the University of Southern California in the US. Still, successful brands often use colors to create their images. For example, Coca-Cola uses red because it increases heart rate (心率) and improves appetite (食欲).
1.Which color makes products seem better according to the story?
A.Brown. B.Black. C.Gray. D.Orange.
2.How do some colors improve how people feel about products?
A.They react to special cells in our eyes. B.They excite more parts of the brain.
C.They make the brain produce more signals. D.They go directly to the brain’s visual cortex.
3.What effect does blue light have on people?
A.It wakes up their senses. B.It increases heart rate.
C.It helps them relax. D.It makes them feel hungry.
4.Why does Coca-Cola use red as its brand color?
A.To make people feel thirsty. B.To build a brand image.
C.To show product quality. D.To control the whole market.
5.What is the story mainly about?
A.How the body reacts to different colors. B.How special colors become popular.
C.What new colors Apple used for its phones. D.Why bright colors are used for products.
【答案】1.D 2.B 3.C 4.B 5.D

2.细节理解题。根据“when light comes into our eyes, special cells (细胞) at the back of our eyes react to different colors and send signals (信号) to the brain. Most signals go to the visual cortex (视觉皮层), where we see pictures. But some are sent to another part of the brain called the hypothalamus (下丘脑). This part controls things in our body, such as temperature and mood.”

By the time he realized it, Jie Zitui had already given up his position (职位) and lived in Mountain Mian. However, Chong’er, Duke Wen of Jin, still went to search for him and wanted to give him a position. But Jie Zitui refused. In order to invite him out, the ruler set a fire on Mountain Mian. However, after the fire was put out several days later, Jie Zitui was found dead. Duke Wen of Jin made a ban on using fire on the day of Jie Zitui’s death every year in memory of Jie Zitui. Dr. Demis Hassabis is a top AI scientist and the CEO of Google DeepMind. He spoke at an old Roman theater in Athens, Greece. He shared an important thought: “learning how to learn” will be the most useful skill for young people in the future.
Dr. Hassabis won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He explained that artificial intelligence (AI) is growing very fast. It is changing our lives so quickly that we can hardly guess what the world will be like in ten years. But one thing is sure: big changes are coming.
To get used to these changes, students need to develop meta-skills (元技能). These are skills that help them learn how to learn. For example, they should know how to study new subjects well and quickly, use their time in a smart way, and think carefully. With these abilities, they can keep learning all their lives.
AI can help people work faster and solve hard problems. But it is also important not to depend too much on AI. Students should learn to think by themselves and make their own learning abilities better.
Many schools around the world are now getting students ready for a future led by AI. They are giving AI-related courses and encouraging students to look into new technologies. The goal is to help young people become creative and confident learners.
In short, as AI keeps developing, the ability to learn how to learn will become more and more necessary. By learning this skill well, students can stay interested in new things, accept changes, and succeed in the future.

When you take notes in your classes, will you go back and look over them? Or do you actually forget all of the information you wrote down after class? A useful note-taking method (方法) can not only save your time, but also help you better understand what you have learned.
This well-known note-taking method is called the Cornell Note-taking System which was first developed by Walter Pauk at Cornell University. According to Cornell Notes, each page is divided into several parts: the note-taking column (栏), the cue (提示) column and the summary (总结) space.
The biggest note-taking column is used to write down notes while you are in class or reading an article. The key point is that you don’t write down what you hear word by word. What you write down needs to be very brief. You can use symbols or keywords instead of long sentences.
You can write some questions in the cue column. The next step is to cover the note-taking column with a piece of paper. Then, by only looking at the questions about key words, try to repeat in your own words.
The summary space is to help you look back on what you’ve learned. Questions may also be useful. For example, what’s the meaning of these facts? You can also write down your own ideas and personal feelings. Don’t forget to review from time to time so that you will remember the information more easily.
After a few months of using this handy note-taking method, you’ll finally be able to remember what you have learned.
1.Which problem can the note-taking method help with?
A.You don’t have patience with learning.
B.You don’t get good grades in exams.
C.You can’t remember what you’ve learned.
D.You can’t pay attention to teachers in class.
2.How many parts does a page of Cornell Notes include?
A.1. B.2. C.3. D.4.
3.What does the underlined word “brief” mean in paragraph 3?
A.Creative and tidy. B.Short and clear. C.Natural and short. D.Clear and useful.
4.How can you use the cue column?
A.By writing down some questions about keywords.
B.By writing down what the teacher said word by word.
C.By writing down notes while reading and listening.
D.By writing down your own ideas and personal feelings.

It was a week before I saw Captain Nemo again. Every morning, I noticed fresh air coming into the rooms and I knew that the Nautilus had surfaced (浮出水面). I would go out and see the sunrise.
Then I received a note from Captain Nemo. He invited me and my friends to go hunting with him in the forests of Crescent Island. Ned was excited because he thought there he could find a chance to run away from Captain Nemo. Then he could finally be free. When I saw Captain Nemo the next day, I asked him why he was so interested in Crescent Island. “I thought you preferred the sea to being on land.”
“I do,” replied the Captain, “But these forests are under the sea. It is a perfect place for hunting.” During breakfast, he explained that he had made diving suits (潜水服) that used special air tanks a month ago. These tanks would allow us to stay under the water for ten hours. He had also made lights that worked on electric batteries. When Ned realized that we were not going onto land for our hunting trip, he decided not to come at all.
Conseil and I put on our diving suits, and so did Captain Nemo and one of his men. We stepped into a room and closed the door. The room was filled with water, and another door opened. We went in, and then we were on the sea floor. It was an amazing experience.
We were about ten metres under the water. The light from the sun reached us. Everything looked very colourful. We walked over the fine sand and enjoyed the colours of the shells, fish and seaweed. Conseil and I followed Captain Nemo and his man as they crossed a large grassy area. We were going deeper and deeper. Two hours later, we were a hundred metres under the water. The suits worked very well, and it was easy to walk and breathe.
At one hundred metres deep, we could still see quite well, and Captain Nemo stopped and pointed to some dark shapes. This was the forest. The“trees”in the forest were giant seaweed, and all their branches were vertical (垂直的). We could not stop looking at them. Fish swam around the branches like birds in a forest. Small bushes grew under the large seaweed trees. Some of them had flowers.
We walked through this forest for about an hour, and then we lay down to rest. I was not hungry, but I was very sleepy. We all slept, and when we woke up, we walked further.

Many people believe that a child’s creativity can only be produced in the warmth of a loving and supportive family. However, a study published in June 2025 showed that this is not always the case.
Although it sounds impossible, the study has found that many creative people had difficult childhoods. In fact, many well-known artists developed their special talents because of their difficult childhood experiences. They always used art as a way to stay away from pain, creating imaginary worlds so they could express themselves freely. Famous examples include artistic geniuses like Vincent van Gogh and Franz Kafka. All of them suffered in childhood and went on to develop great artistic talents.
Psychologists explain that there are two main ways creativity develops. One is the positive inspiration (正向激励). When children have caring parents, they learn from their positive behavior and grow confidently. The other is coping creativity. When children feel no one cares about them, they might use drawing, writing, or music to ease themselves.
Interestingly, challenges can actually increase creativity, but not enough caring contributes to worries. Research shows early childhood experiences shape creativity patterns and that some challenge helps shape creativity, but too much challenge harms people’s social skills.
Modern life creates new challenges. With parents working longer hours and greater competition in learning, many children spend more time alone indoors. This leads to problems such as anxiety (焦虑) and poor social skills. To solve these problems, schools can help by offering art and music programs, training teachers to notice creative students and providing advice for children with problems.
The most important lesson is balance (平衡). While challenges can produce creativity, love and support are more important. As one expert says, “Creativity grows best when children feel safe enough to discover but supported enough to take challenges.” Parents and teachers should encourage children’s talents while making sure they feel valued and understood.
1.What does Paragraph 2 tell us about art?
A.It is often loved by children living a difficult life.
B.It helps some children feel less pain and more freedom.
C.It allows children to draw a world without thinking much.
D.It requires children to have creativity and rich imagination.
2.What does the underlined word “ease” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Trust. B.Beat. C.Annoy. D.Comfort.
3.What is the relationship between challenges and creativity according to the passage?
A.Challenges only improve social skills, not creativity.
B.The more challenges a child faces, the more creative they will become.
C.Some challenge helps develop creativity, but too much can be harmful.
D.Challenges don’t have connection to the development of creativity at all.
4.How does the writer organize Paragraph 5?
A.By raising a question and then giving it answers.
B.By showing a fact and then proving it with numbers.
C.By giving an opinion and then supporting it with examples.
D.By describing problems and then giving methods of solving them.
5.What does the writer suggest in the passage?

So far, China has sent a large number of satellites (卫星) and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired (赋予灵感) by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving them names.
Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang’e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China’s first man-made satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang’e Ⅰ. More interestingly, the moon rover (巡视器) was named after the Jade Rabbit, who is the partner of Chang’e in the story. These old stories carry people’s best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true.
Kua Fu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kua Fu is going with the scientists to “visit” the sun, because we have a space project called Kua Fu Mission.
Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2,000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China’s first quantum (量子) science satellite was named Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground.
From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology.
1.What do we know about Chang’e Ⅰ according to the text?
A.It moves around the moon. B.It produces the Jade Rabbit.
C.It “visits” the sun with the scientists. D.It is the world’s first man-made satellite.
2.How does the writer support his opinion in Paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers. B.By comparing facts.
C.By giving an example. D.By reporting a result.
3.Which is the right structure of the text?
A. B. C. D.
4.What’s the writer’s main purpose of writing the text?
A.To tell us something about the traditional Chinese culture.
B.To explain how our scientists develop the space industry.
C.To introduce the achievements in our science and technology.
D.To tell how traditional Chinese culture influences our space science.

Has a person ever warmly held a door open for you? How do you feel after playing with friends? And what would you say is your favourite family memory? These questions have one thing in common: they’re all about connecting with people. “Let’s Connect” is the theme of this year’s Children’s Mental (心理的) Health Week. It improves mental health by building healthy social connections.
Humans naturally connect with others, whether that’s family, friends or people in our community. Healthy connections give people energy and support—we all need people to celebrate and share our worries with. Social connections aren’t just about mental health; they improve physical health too, helping us to live a long life. Research suggests being lonely can slowly harm your health. Humans’ need for connection is different from person to person, but what’s important is not how many relationships you have, but how good your relationships are.
Then how to connect with others? “You can reach out and connect with people in so many different ways,” says Julia Clements of Place2Be, the organizer behind Children’s Mental Health Week. You can connect in person or online, with your friends, parents, teachers or classmates. It’s not just people, either. “Some people feel connected with their pets or in nature,” says Clements. She advises making time to build more connections through actions as well as words. Being kind, listening to others and trying new experiences are all good tools.
Everybody may feel lonely sometimes and refuse to talk to others. Keep in mind that connections change—some become stronger, while others stop. “Remember that there are always people that care for you,” advises Clements. She says it’s important to tell someone you trust about how you are feeling, or safe organizations such as Childline or Shout. They can help, whether you’re looking to form new connections or repair a strained (紧张) relationship that is important to you.

Using drama (戏剧) and role-playing in the classroom can be a powerful tool to deepen students’ learning experiences. By involving students in these activities, teachers can build an environment that encourages active involvement and deep thinking.
Drama and role-playing can be used in different subjects, from English and history to science and maths. Teachers can design activities that allow students to learn in an experiential way. By using drama and role-playing, teachers can make students get involved actively in their own learning.
Drama and role-playing activities provide a safe space for learners to experiment with a new language without the fear of real-world results. This experimentation develops confidence in speaking and using the language. Learners are encouraged to try new things and make mistakes that are important parts of learning.
Students have the chance to explore different roles by taking part in drama and role-playing activities. It helps them build confidence in expressing themselves, improve their vocabulary and language structure, and develop public speaking skills. Taking part in dramatic activities allows students to show their talents. Whether they are creating a play or adapting (改编) literary works, students have the freedom to explore new ideas and experiment with different methods.
Through role-playing, students can have a deeper understanding of historical events, literary characters, or social matters by stepping into the shoes of different persons. This experience helps them develop empathy (同感), see the world from different points of view and manage their own emotions (感情).
Drama and role-playing activities also add fun and excitement to learning. They create memorable experiences that help students understand and keep information, and leave a lasting influence on students.
Drama and role-playing activities require students to work together and have good communication. By taking on different roles, students learn to listen to others, discuss with each other, understand different opinions, solve problems, and work as a team. Students can carry the skills with them beyond the classroom.
1.What do learners do in a safe space?
A.They teach themselves quickly. B.They seldom make mistakes.
C.They worry about the results. D.They take risks in learning.
2.What is Paragraph 5 mainly about?
A.Students need knowledge of several subjects in role-playing.
B.Role-playing helps students understand and deal with emotions.
C.Students find it hard to develop their empathy through role-playing.
D.Role-playing is a great way to get to know different events.
3.What can we learn about drama and role-playing activities?
A.They require students to have talents to take part in them.
B.They help students to think about their memorable experiences.
C.It is difficult for students to carry them out in a foreign language class.

Recently, some people have complained about the purposefully addictive (上瘾的) designs of smartphones and social media, which make it hard for anyone to put them down, especially teens. Now, a new report in Emotion gives facts that back up what these people said.
According to the report, young people’s life satisfaction and happiness have dropped since 2012, the year the percentage of teens owning smartphones started increasing rapidly. The report also finds that teens’ psychological (心理的) health gets worse the more hours a week they spend on screens.
Jean Twenge is the lead writer of the report. She graphed (制图) the connection between happiness and screen activities, such as social media, texting, gaming, and video chats. She also graphed the connection between happiness and non-screen activities, including sports, reading, and face-to-face communications. She called the relationship between screen and non-screen activities “zero sum”—if you are doing one, it takes time away from the others.
Diane Tanman complains that her sons are like that. They are 11 and 15. They used to play games in fields, and it made them happier. These days, her sons are more into online games. Many of the games have rewards (奖励) built in to keep players coming back. “It’s just junk food for the brain,” Tanman said.
Ed Lazzara says his 12-year-old son Leo is a fan of video games. After playing a lot, Leo gets more upset and uncomfortable. He wants his son to play fewer video games.
However, totally staying away from electronic devices (设备) doesn’t lead to happiness, either. Twenge and her co-writers found that the happiest teens used electronic devices a little less than an hour daily. After a daily hour of screen time, unhappiness rises in relation to increasing screen time.
Spending time in front of a screen is a normal part of being a teenager. Many schools require students to be online and to use iPads or other devices to do their work. But teachers and parents have also complained that technology can get in the way of learning when teens use their devices for things other than their studies.
If we recognize how screen time influences young minds, we can help teens use technology better and protect their psychological health in the process. Screen time is like ice cream. Sure, we can have some once in a while, but it shouldn’t be part of our everyday lives.
1.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Screen time at home is not as beneficial as screen time at school.
B.Nearly an hour of screen time every day makes teens happiest.
C.Technology should be encouraged in classroom learning.
D.What teens do on the screen influences their happiness.
2.Why does the passage give the examples of families with teens?
A.To prove the bad effect of the addictive designs of electronic devices.
B.To show parents have little control over their teens’ screen time.
C.To compare different-aged teens’ feelings about screen use.
D.To explain why electronic devices make teens feel happy.
3.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Use of Electronic Devices: Should We Consider Teens’ Needs?
B.Teens’ Psychological Health: Why Is It Important?
C.Screen Time and Teens’ Study Performance
D.Screen Time and Teens’ Life Satisfaction

In the tranquil corridors of the City Museum, Geoffrey, the new assistant, awaited the delivery of the latest work by the master painter known only as Brush.
The door opened and a delivery woman came in carrying a large canvas covered in stunning colours. She was not carrying it properly.
“Be careful,” shouted Geoffrey, taking the frame from her.
“Whatever,” she said, before barging past him and into the office of the Curator (馆长), carrying lots of paperwork.
Geoffrey carefully took the painting to the most prestigious location within the museum and hung it on the wall.
The next day, the whole art world had come to the museum to gaze upon the masterpiece. The room was brimming with visitors from dawn till dusk. Even before the day was over, the papers were printing the critics’ (批评家的) opinions of the new work. They were amazed by its ‘explosive riot of colours’, its ‘bold chromatic assertion’ and ‘deep, raw emotional resonance.’
Over the next week, as more people read the critics’ articles, more people visited the museum than ever before, and the Curator was delighted. The room where the masterpiece was on display heaved with people all day long. They discussed increasingly profound interpretations of the work, deciphering (解读) the ‘brave exploration of form and colour,’ and discussing its ‘deep impact on the psyche of the viewer.’
Then at the end of the week, before he locked the museum up, Geoffrey heard a knock. A delivery man had arrived.
“I apologise for being a week late with this delivery,” he said, as he carefully handed Geoffrey the real artwork.
Geoffrey’s confusion didn’t last long. Moments after the delivery man left, the same delivery woman from before came out of the Curator’s office with the Curator.
“Oh, you’ve met Jennifer, our Cleaner, haven’t you?” said the Curator.
“Oh, we met,” said the Cleaner. “You ran into me when I was taking one of the dirty canvases from the restoration department out to the bin. Why on earth did you want it? Is that another one you’re carrying?”
Geoffrey realised his mistake and knew there was no way to hide it. He had to tell the Curator and the Cleaner. The Curator turned white, while Jennifer fell to the floor in hysterical laughter.
The Curator had to issue a statement. overnight, the critics wrote and published vehement retractions, explaining how their earlier articles should have been interpreted as satirical or sarcastic.
The real artwork was swapped in, and the critics came again. This time, they were cautious (谨慎的) before they praised it, but the real artwork’s value was hard to deny. The detail was magnificent, and there was no doubt that only the enigmatic (神秘的) painter known as Brush could have produced it. They wrote new articles discussing its ‘profound exploration of the human condition’ and its ‘fine balance between what is and what is not’.
Once things had calmed down, Geoffrey found himself once more among the museum’s tranquil corridors. Then he happened to notice that day’s newspaper. The headline read: “Identity (身份) of the Artist Known as Brush, Revealed.” There was a photo of Jennifer the Cleaner. Underneath, it read, “Artist also reveals title for latest work: Dirty canvas”.
1.Why did the “masterpiece” attract so many visitors?
A.Because the museum advertised it heavily.
B.Because the critics’ articles praised it highly.
C.Because the painter Brush was personally present.
D.Because Geoffrey gave detailed introductions about it.
2.What does the phrase “hysterical laughter” suggest about Jennifer?
A.She was crying with sadness. B.She was laughing uncontrollably.
C.She was screaming in anger. D.She was laughing with regret.
3.What is the main theme of this story?
A.How careful handling matters for valuable artworks. B.How daily work in a museum can be challenging.
C.How critics can change what we think about art. D.How difficult it is to discover true artistic value.
4.What’s the correct order of the following events?
a. The critics said they were wrong about their earlier articles.
b. Geoffrey hung the dirty canvas in the museum’s best location.
c. The real painting finally arrived, delivered by an apologetic man.
d. Jennifer, the cleaner, was revealed to be the artist known as Brush.
e. Newspapers printed amazed reviews praising the masterpiece’s colors.
A.b-e-c-a-d B.e-b-c-d-a C.b-c-e-a-d D.c-b-e-d-a
5.Which of the following would be the most appropriate title for this story?
A.Accidental Masterpiece. B.Critic’s Mistake. C.Lost Masterpiece. D.Careless Assistant.
【答案】1.B 2.B 3.C 4.A 5.A

People are talking a lot about artificial intelligence (AI), viewing it as a force that could reshape how society works. But there is something important missing from this discussion. It isn’t enough to ask how it will change us. We also need to understand how we shape AI and what it can tell us about ourselves.
Every AI model we develop mirrors our rules and expresses our beliefs. A few years ago, while looking for new workers, a famous company gave up an AI-powered tool after finding it unfavorable to women. The AI was not designed to behave this way, instead, it was influenced by the historical data (数据) favoring men. Similarly, a recent study found that lending algorithms (算法) often offer less favorable terms to colored people, worsening long-standing unfairness in money-lending business. In both cases, AI isn’t creating new biases (偏见), it is mirroring the ones that are already present.
These reflections (反映) give us an important chance to take a close look at ourselves. By making these problems seen and more pressing, AI challenges us to recognize and address what causes algorithmic bias. As AI continues to develop, we must ask ourselves how we as average people want to shape its role in society. We should not only improve AI models, but also make sure that AI is developed and used responsibly.
A number of companies are already taking action. They are judging the data, rules, and beliefs that shape the behavior of AI models. Still, we cannot expect the companies to do all the work. As long as AI is trained on human data, it will reflect human behavior. That means we have to think carefully about the footprints of ourselves we leave in the world. I may value privacy, but if I give it up in a heartbeat to visit a website, the algorithms may make a very different judgment of what I really want and what is good for me. If I want meaningful human connections yet spend more time on social media and less time in the physical company of my friends, I am indirectly training AI models about the true nature of humanity.
As AI becomes more powerful, we need to take increasing care to read our principles (原则) into the record of our actions rather than allowing the two to diverge. Recognizing this allows us to make better decisions, but only when we are prepared to look closely and take responsibility for what we see.
1.Why does the writer introduce the two examples in Paragraph 2?
A.To suggest a solution. B.To stress a difference.
C.To challenge a practice. D.To support a viewpoint.
2.What does the word “diverge” in the last paragraph most probably mean?
A.Improve. B.Appear. C.Separate. D.Repeat.
3.According to the passage, what is a good example of shaping AI responsibility?
A.Guarding one’s privacy against AI models. B.Being mindful of our feeds into AI models.
C.Training algorithms to favor the latest data. D.Designing algorithms to deal with unfairness.
4.Which of the following is the best title for this passage?
A.AI Isn’t the Problem; We Are B.AI: A Tool to Reshape Our Society
C.More Open algorithms for Better AI? D.Building Trust in Human-AI Relationships
【答案】1.D 2.C 3.B 4.A
根据第二段“In both cases, AI isn’t creating new biases (偏见), it is mirroring the ones that are already present.”
根据“we need to take increasing care to read our principles (原则) into the record of our actions rather than allowing the two to diverge.”可知,在人工智能发展的过程中,我们需要将我们的原则融入到我们的行动记录中,而不是让两者背道而驰。划线部分diverge意为“分歧,背离”,与Separate表达的意思相近。故选C。
3.推理判断题。根据“As long as AI is trained on human data, it will reflect human behavior. That means we have to think carefully about the footprints of ourselves we leave in the world.”
A“AI Isn’t the Problem; We Are”最贴合主旨。故选A。

Breaking Screens Won’t Break Screen Habits
In China, looking after parents is both a law and a good tradition. But today, some people care more about themselves than their family. This thing shows how family traditions are becoming less important.
In 2024, Wang, a full-time housewife, was injured (受伤) in a traffic accident caused by Xu. Although Wang didn’t have a job outside, she was taking care of her family. She asked for lost-work pay, but Xu said no, saying she wasn’t really working. However, the court in Wuhu thought differently. It believed that Wang’s housework saved money for the family. So, the court said yes to her lost-work pay.

With the development of economy (经济), the problem of left-behind children (留守儿童) has become a serious social problem. More and more people have realized we should do something to help them.
One of the biggest problems is that the children are all hungry for love from their parents. Many of them can just get a call or a letter from their parents half a year, a year or even several years, which makes some children forget their parents’ faces. When they meet their troubles, they have no one to talk with. Nobody gives them enough care.
Because of being too far away from their parents, the left-behind children’s studies are very hard. From a survey about their study, only two percent of the children get good results, while ten percent of them are common and eighty-eight percent of them are poor. What a pity!
There are also many other problems of the left-behind children, such as having no ability to protect themselves, unhealthy lifestyles, spending too much pocket money and being crazy about the Internet and so on.

The Jiangsu Football City League, also called Su Chao, has become a big hit on the Chinese Internet. Many interesting slogans like “No cheating, just real rivalries” and “Game first, friendship fourteenth” show how intense the match is!
Organized by the Jiangsu sports department and 13 city governments, the league encourages everyone to join and play for their city’s honor. It started on May 10 and will end on Nov 2. There are 516 players from 13 teams, including students, professional players, and many amateurs aged 16 to 40. Matches mostly happen on weekends, with one round each week. Some cities offer freebies to attract visiting fans. For example, Suqian gives free tickets to tourist spots and local snacks.
Journalist Wu talked about why this league is different. He said that in China, people usually copy big leagues from other countries because they love the World Cup so much. But Jiangsu did something new.
“Here, players are not famous stars getting paid a lot of money. They’re just common people you might know. The fans aren’t just strangers—they’re your family, friends, and neighbors. The soccer field isn’t just for professional players—it’s a place where everyone feels welcome,” Wu explained. “This league isn’t about being the best in the world.

“Don’t forget to study for the history test on Friday,” Mrs. Beville told the class. Julie closed her book and thought to herself, “Why couldn’t the test be on poetry (诗歌)?” Julie loved poetry and its expression of feelings and ideas. She was also a perfect monitor (班长) and could organize all kinds of events, but her history was poor.
The following day, she decided to use the library time to study. With her textbook open in front of her, she tried to remember all the facts and dates. But it was useless. She hid her face in the pages of the book. “Impossible!”
“Julie!” Julie looked up. Maria, from her class, was sitting beside her. “Want to study together?” Maria asked. Julie joined Maria, who was sitting with some cards and colored pencils in front of her. On each card was a colorful painting. Julie said, “I thought you were studying history.”“This is how I study,” Maria replied, “I like art, and the pictures help me recall facts.
