How can you improve your English through watching English movies? Here’s some helpful advice.
First, choose a movie that interests you. Whether it’s the story or the actors that draw you to the movie. Watching a movie you enjoy will make you more likely to work hard to understand it. Second, watch each movie at least twice. When you watch a film for the second time, try not to see the translated words. Instead, try to guess the meanings of these English words. This helps increase your vocabulary. Third, follow the movie characters. Repeat what they say in the movie and then retell in your own words. This is good for your pronunciation.
If you follow the above ways when watching English movies, you’ll be sure to improve your English.

Table manners (餐桌礼仪) are different in each country, showing the customs and traditions of that place. Knowing these differences can help you enjoy meals in other countries without making mistakes. Here are some examples of table manners from around the world.
In China, be careful with chopsticks. Never put them straight into a bowl (碗) of rice, because it looks like a funeral (葬礼). People often share food from big plates in the middle of the table. Use the other end of your chopsticks or use serving spoons to take food. Slurping (发出声地吃或喝) noodles or soup is polite and shows you are enjoying the food.
In Japan, never pass food from one set of chopsticks to another, as it reminds people of funeral customs. It’s polite to hold small bowls of rice or soup closer to your mouth when eating. Tipping (小费) is not common in Japan, and can be seen as impolite.
In France, keep your hands on the table. Bread is placed on the table, and it’s polite to break it with your hands. Meals are slow and relaxed in France, so eating quickly is not polite.
In India, many people eat with their hands, especially traditional food. Use only your right hand, as the left hand is considered unclean. Leaving a little food on your plate shows that you are full. Eating everything may mean you are still hungry.
In the United States, people often use the “zigzag” when eating, which means cutting food with one hand and then putting the fork to the other hand. Tipping is very important in the US, with 15-20% of the payment being the usual tip for good service. Slurping or making loud noises while eating is not polite.

Humour has been considered a sign of high intelligence throughout human history. For example, people tell jokes to show their cleverness. And while many studies show the close relationship between intelligence and humour in adults, there is less research on the topic in children. Now, new research carried out on Turkish schoolchildren has made a great discovery.
For the new study, more than 200 children made comments on 10 newly drawn cartoons. Seven experts then gave scores to them according to the funniness of the comments and their relevance (关联性) to the cartoons.
When these children’s intelligence and humour performance were compared, the researchers found that intelligence had a great influence on the children’s humour ability. They also found that children with higher levels of general knowledge were better able to produce humour. Besides, the study also shows that this kind of connection appears to be much stronger in children than in adults.
While the study shows intelligence can influence the humour of children and adults differently, the authors say there is one important thing we should pay attention to. Both humour and intelligence are shaped by cultural beliefs and values. A joke considered funny in one culture may be tedious in another. Likewise, an action may be considered a sign of high intelligence in one culture but other cultures may find it improper. Thus, we should keep this in mind when we talk about the influence of intelligence on humorous behaviour.
“We are really interested in the quality of humour made by children. Humour is often used for entertainment by adults, but children mostly use it to make themselves better accepted by people around them,” said Professor Ugur. “So, teachers! Next time you look at the ‘class clowns (students in a class who behave in a funny or silly way)’, do not consider them foolish. It is highly likely that those ‘class clowns’, who have great intelligence, are looking for acceptance.”

B.Children are better at using humour than adults.
C.Children’s intelligence has an effect on humour.
72.What does the underlined word “tedious” in Paragraph 4 mean?

74.Which statement is true?
A.A joke which is funny in China must be funny in other countries.

Do you know where your food comes from? How far do the milk, apples, coffee beans and other things you eat travel to reach you? 101 And those decisions can also shape the world around us.
Starting to check your food miles is an important step in saving the earth. 102 From the farm to the fork, the shorter the distance (距离), the better the food will be for your health and the environment.
Food miles are a modern idea. In the past, people ate food they grew by themselves. However, since the world became highly connected, we have become used to having all kinds of global foods. We buy tropical (热带的) fruits rather than those grown in our local climate. 103
When we count food miles, we shouldn’t just think about the exact number of miles. It depends on many factors. For one thing, the ways of transportation (运输) are important. 104 However, it is bad for the environment. If the food travels by sea, it will be much slower but better for the environment.
105 However, the simple truth is that most of us can do far better than what we do now. Whenever you can, buy the local farmers’ food and eat in-season fruits and vegetables. This will help cut down the environmental cost of what we eat.
A.The decisions we make on what we eat shape us.
B.Air travel, for example, allows food to travel quickly.
C.Most people prefer to eat the food which is produced locally.
D.It is not easy to work out the environmental cost of what we eat.

Frost’s Descent (霜降) is the 18th of the 24 solar terms (节气) in the Chinese lunar calendar. It usually starts around October 23rd and ends around November 6th. It is the last solar term of autumn. This means winter is coming soon. It is called “Frost’s Descent” because this is the time of year when frost starts to appear. During this time, temperatures drop a lot. Because of this, we can see frost begins to form on the ground and plants. Many trees lose their leaves, and some animals start to prepare for their winter sleep.
For farmers, it’s a busy season. In northern China, they are finishing the harvest. In the south, they are gathering crops like sweet potatoes and protecting winter crops from the cold. It’s also a great time to go hiking and enjoy the beautiful red maple leaves.
What do you like to eat to keep warm in cold weather? Persimmons (柿子) are a popular choice during Frost’s Descent. People believe that eating persimmons can help keep them warm and make their bones stronger. Apples and pears are also good for health. In some places like Fujian and Taiwan, people often eat duck. There is even a saying: “Even nourishing (滋养) all year is not as good as nourishing the body during Frost’s Descent”.

71.What does the new study find?
A.Adults usually use humour to attract friends.
B.Children are better at using humour than adults.
C.Children’s intelligence has an effect on humour.
72.What does the underlined word “tedious” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Boring. B.Interesting. C.Surprising.
73.What should be considered when we study humour and intelligence?
A.One’s culture. B.One’s education. C.One’s body language.
74.Which statement is true?
A.A joke which is funny in China must be funny in other countries.
B.Children often use humor for entertainment.
C.The higher levels of general knowledge children have, the better they can produce humour.
75.What does Professor Ugur probably think of the class clowns?
A.They are strange.
B.They want to be accepted.
