Instead of travelling long hours to somewhere far away, more Chinese travellers choose shorter trips close to home now! This is because they want to experience local life, not rush through sightseeing (观光).
Experts (专家) see this as a fashion for slower, deeper travel experiences. Lin Keya from Urumqi, Xinjiang, spent a few days in a village nearby for the National Day holiday last year. There, she woke up to the sounds of birds and slept peacefully under the moonlight. “Being in nature saved my tired heart,” Lin told Xinhua. The village was just a two-hour drive from her home. Another traveller, Ms Peng, travelled with her family from Guiyang to Leshan. They are two cities in southwest China. She said busy sightseeing tours only touch the surface, and what truly attracts (吸引) people now is deep trips. “Spending less time on the road gave us more time to enjoy the place,” said Ms Peng.
This trend (趋势) is growing because China is developing its high-speed rail network (高铁网络). It now covers over 46,000 kilometres and connects over 96 percent of cities with more than 500,000 people, reported China Daily. High-speed trains give many travellers, especially elderly ones, easy and relaxed trips.
29.Why do more Chinese travellers choose shorter trips close to home?
A.Because they don’t have enough time for long trips.
B.Because they want to save money.
C.Because they want to experience local life deeply.
D.Because they are afraid of travelling far.
30.What does Ms Peng think of busy sightseeing tours?
A.They are interesting. B.They are too tiring.

D.The influence of foreign travel cultures.
C
Look around. Do you see your friends? Friends are people you like to be with. Your school playground is a good place to make friends. Ask someone new to play! If a child asks you to play, you can say “yes”.
Friends make each other laugh. Anna tells Alex a funny joke. Then Alex does a funny dance. That’s what friends do. Friends help each other. Amy helps Jake work out a maths problem. Jake helps Amy get the book she wants in the bookcase. That is what friends do. Friends trust each other. When they have some problems, they will tell their close friends. Their friends will keep the secrets for them. They share the happiness and sadness.
Sometimes a friend may feel sad. When Ben is sad, Lily wants him to feel better. Lily tries to make him smile. That’s what friends do. Sometimes friends may get angry with each other. When that happens, they can talk about how they feel. Later, they can say, “I’m sorry.” That’s what friends do.
Sometimes friends also argue with each other. But it doesn’t matter. They must learn to understand each other, or the friendship won’t last long. Understanding is the most important in the friendship. Everyone has the right to choose friends. Some may be our friends, and they may make friends with those we dislike (不喜欢). We shouldn’t be sad when our friends do that.
32.What is the most important thing in friendship according to the text?
A.Playing together. B.Helping each other.

Many kids help their parents to do chores such as washing the dishes, cleaning the floors and taking out the rubbish in the house. And some kids get money or other rewards (奖励) from their parents, such as playing computer games for 20 minutes.
But some people do not think that kids should get rewards for doing chores. One of them is Susie Walton, a parenting educator. She believes that if kids get rewards, they will think that work isn’t worth (值得) doing unless (除非) they can get something. For example, kids won’t sweep the floor if they see it is dirty. But they will clean the floor if their parents reward them for it. Susie said, “A home is a living place for everyone in the family. It’s important for kids to see that it’s all the family members’ job to keep their homes clean.”
Other people have different opinions (观点). They believe that money or other rewards can encourage kids to do more chores. It also teaches them a real world lesson that we need to work to make money. Now, there are also apps that encourage kids to do chores. The apps give kids points and gifts that can be used either online or in the real world. With the Chore Monster app, kids get points after doing chores. Kids can exchange (交换) their points for real rewards, such as time to play video games or a trip to the mall.

D.The influence of foreign travel cultures.
【答案】29.C 30.C 31.B

Many kids help their parents to do chores such as washing the dishes, cleaning the floors and taking out the rubbish in the house. And some kids get money or other rewards (奖励) from their parents, such as playing computer games for 20 minutes.
