Read the short paragraph and find some useful expressions.
Dodos were large birds. They only lived on the islands of Mauritius. They had very small wings, so they couldn't fly. They couldn't run fast either because they had short legs. People first visited Mauritius in the16th century and they found that dodos tasted good and were easy to catch. By the end of the 17th century, there were no dodos left.

The passenger pigeon once lived in North America. It was grey and about 40 cm long. It lived in very large groups and could fly fast. Often, millions of passenger pigeons flew together. The animal died out because people hunted it. They were easy to shoot. The last passenger pigeon died in 1914.
