This course is part of the Listening and Speaking section of the compulsory first and second unit of the textbook for Senior high School Teaching Edition.
What: In this unit, the topic is about “get ready to travel”.
How: By looking at the pictures, students know the English of different famous scenic spots in the world and the phrases to prepare for the trip. At the same time through the recording to learn and understand the travel needs to consider things, and finally can communicate with the partner travel plan.
Why:The students should know some learning strategies which is learn to write down key words and get the main idea, not on single words or grammar.

1. What they have known: The students may have some travel experience and they can share with their classmates.
2.What they want to know : they will learn more words and phrases about travel. students' ability to capture information of listening articles needs to be improved, and the accuracy and fluency of oral expression needs to be improved.

Key point:
1) Help students to focus on key words while listening.

Students will learn how to use the present continuous tense to talk about their future plans through the sentence pattern used in the listening material. And students will learn how to use the key words and learn more words about travel through some tasks.

Let Ss discuss about the following questions:
1) If you have the chance to travel anywhere in the world, where will you go?
2) What do you need to do to prepare for the trip?
(E.g. Get a passport/apply for a visa/book tickets/book a hotel room/rent a car/buy a guidebook/pack some clothes/research the local weather)

Reasons for this stage:
The step aims to introduce the topic in a natural and comfortable way, remind the students of their travelling experiences and arouse their interest of travelling and help them think about hoe to make preparations for a trip by discussing in group.
Stage 2 While-
listening
2. Listening and selecting
Introduce that Paul and Meilin are talking about the coming holiday. Ask students to go through the three questions in the activity2 and predict the content of the conversion. After Listening to the first part of the conversation and choose the correct answers, and then the teacher checks the answer.
Circle the two places Meilin is going to for holiday.

Ask Ss to listen to the second part of the conversation and answer the questions:

Moreover, Ss are required to focus on key words and expressions when they are listening to the recording.

Ask students to listen to the whole conversation again and fill in the table on page 24 of the textbook. They should also focus on key words to finish this task.

Reasons for this stage:
Activity2: It aims to introduce the scene of the conversation, help Ss predict the content of the listening material and practice listening for key words through a natural conversation in English about travel.
Activity3: It aims to develop Ss' ability of grasping the main idea of the conversation by asking them to
concentrate on key words rather than every single sentences.
Activity4: It aims to develop Ss' competence of listening for details by asking them to go over the sentences to be filled in before listening to the audio an/notice the words before and after the answer blanks.

Present the listening text to Ss and tell them to underline the “be doing” structures they found.

Ask Ss to choose a travel destination and think about what you would do to prepare to travel there. Then share your travel plans with your classmates, and then the teacher will make appropriate comments on Ss’ performance. (On page 25)
