There is a special art in Chongqing’s Pianyan Ancient Town. It’s called the Tang Family’s Colorful Paper Art. Not many people know about it, but it has a long history and is a small part of the city’s heritage.
This art started over 120 years ago, during China’s late Qing Dynasty. At first, the Tang family in Pianyan learned this craft from a master. Then they blended it with Chongqing’s local folk skills, like the famous Tongliang Dragon Lantern. For a long time, it was part of ancient Chongqing’s festival culture: families used it to celebrate Spring Festival, weddings, and temple fairs.
Making this art is not easy. First, we use thin bamboo sticks to make a frame. Maybe a dragon, a lion, a mask, or a festival lantern. Then we stick paper on the frame carefully. Next, we paint colorful pictures on the paper. Finally, we add small details, like eyes on a dragon or pretty lines on a mask. The finished works are bright and lovely.
In the past, this art thrived in Chongqing. It spread (传播) to small towns around Beibei, such as Caijia and Jindaoxia. People loved it—no big festival felt complete without the Tang family’s dragon lanterns. But it never became popular around the world; it stayed only in Chongqing and a few nearby places in Sichuan. Now, it’s different: you can almost never see it at festivals or weddings.
Why is this art so special? It comes from the Tang family’s hard work. For over 120 years, each family member spent years learning it. But today, only one person called Mr. Tang Qiantai, the fourth-generation artist, can do all the steps alone. No young people in the family want to learn it. That’s poignant.
This art is more than just paper and bamboo. It’s a relic of Chongqing’s old days, carrying the wisdom of local people. It shows how clever they were to mix outside skills with their own. We should not let it disappear (消失). Even small, unknown arts like this make our culture rich and interesting.
24. When did the Tang family’s paper art first appear?
A. Late Qing Dynasty. B. Early Qing Dynasty.
C. Late Ming Dynasty. D. Early Ming Dynasty.
25. What is the right order to make the paper art?
a. b. c. d.
A. a-d-b-c B. a-b-d-c C. d-a-b-c D. d-a-c-b
26. Which “complete” in the paragraph has the same meaning as the underlined word?

To [2] complete cross-Strait peace rules, we must hold the one-China principle. A country is [3] complete only with all its parts, and we will [4] complete national reunification.
A. [1] B. [2] C. [3] D. [4]
27. After reading this article, Ai Yizhong decides to work hard to spread this tradition. So she posts a video on TikTok. Please help her write proper (恰当的) words for her video.

① Since the first Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei reached space with Shenzhou V, we keep the Chinese Flying Dream moving to new chapters. On the evening of November 29th, Shenzhou XV is successfully launched (被成功地发射) from Jiuquan Center. It is of great meaning for the Chinese space cause and makes great achievements that are never seen before.
② The first achievement (成就) is the huge number of tasks Shenzhou XV’s astronauts finish. They do more than 40 scientific experiments in fields like space medicine and space technology—this is amazing in human space history.
③ With the arrival of Shenzhou XV, Tiangong Space Station finally develops into its largest size, weighing around 100,000 kg. It is one of the largest structures humans build in space.
④ The space station is made up of 5 different parts. The Tianhe module works as the center of the station. The Wentian and Mengtian modules are on the left and right sides of Tianhe. Shenzhou spaceships are on the top of the station. The last one, Tianzhou V, is under the Tianhe module (舱).
⑤ The astronauts of Shenzhou XV are also different from those in the past. Usually, new groups of astronauts are sent into space after the earlier ones go back to Earth. But this time, the two groups of astronauts meet in space. Worldwide, there are now a total of 13 astronauts in space. So, for the time being, China is the country with the most people in space.
⑥ Another thing about them is that the average (平均) age of Shenzhou XV’s astronauts is the oldest in history (over 53). Among them, 56-year-old Deng Qingming is one of China’s earliest 14 astronauts. He serves as a backup astronaut four times and watches his teammates fly again and again, but he never gives up his dream of flying. Now he makes it, though it takes some time.

D. it made great achievements in Chinese and humans’ history of space work

A. share the exciting stories of Shenzhou astronauts
B. show how great and meaningful Shenzhou XV is
C. ask teenagers to work hard and become astronauts
D. tell it is difficult to build such a great space station
34. The structure of the passage is _________.
A. B. C. D.
35. The writer will write after the 7th paragraph _________.

When your classmates get higher scores in tests, or win the class game while you don’t, it’s really easy to feel jealous (嫉妒的). You might frown, feel a little sad, or even get angry with yourself. These bad feelings don’t just stay for a short time—they can make you quiet, not want to talk to others, and even lose interest in the things you usually like. That’s why we need to find a good way to deal with these bad feelings.
Tom is a 14-year-old boy in Grade 7. Before, he often feels jealous when his desk mate gets better grades in math tests. He would sit alone after class, thinking “Why can’t I do as well as him?” He even stops talking to his desk mate for a few days. But now, he learns to be kind to himself. When that jealous feeling comes up, he takes a deep breath and says to himself softly, “I try my hardest when I do the test. It’s OK—everyone has their own strong points.” He knows he’s good at drawing, which his desk mate doesn’t do well. So he starts to feel proud of his own skills instead of feeling bad.
What Tom does is called “letting go of jealousy”. It means when you feel jealous, you don’t keep those bad feelings in your heart. Instead, you treat yourself like you would treat a good friend who feels upset. You don’t blame yourself for not being the best; you comfort yourself and look at your own good points. When you do this, the bad feelings like sadness or anger start to go away. You will feel lighter and happier, and you can think more clearly about what you can do next. For example, if you’re jealous of a classmate’s grades, you can ask them how they study instead of feeling angry. This way, letting go of jealousy helps you get on well with your classmates and even learn new things. Many small studies with students show that this way really works.
However, some people don’t think this is a good idea. They say if you let go of jealousy, you won’t want to try harder to catch up with others. But a recent study done by some teachers has a different result. They choose 50 Grade 7 students and give them a difficult math test. Most of the students don’t get high scores and feel a little jealous of the few who do well. Then the teachers let all students study for a second test. They watch the students’ study time: the students who learn to let go of their jealousy (like saying “I’ll try better next time”) spend about 20 more minutes each day practicing math. But the students who keep feeling jealous just sit there and don’t study much.
Experts (专家) have some easy ways to help you practice letting go of jealousy. First, they suggest you talk with a close friend about how you feel. When you say your jealous feelings out loud, you will find they are not that big. Second, you can do something you like a lot—like drawing, playing ball games, or listening to your favorite songs. These things can make you feel happy and forget the bad feelings. A psychologist who works with middle school students also suggests a small trick: when you feel jealous, put your hand on your chest and say “I’m great too” to yourself three times. This small action makes you feel safe and proud of your own good points.
Feeling jealous of others brings bad feelings. However, ____60____. Letting go of jealousy means being kind to yourself. With its help, you will feel happier and think more clearly so that ____61____. Some think differently, but a study shows that ____62____. To practice letting go of jealousy, some ____63____ are suggested by experts.

I was reading a story about Song Lian when a light flashed from the magic book. To my surprise, he appeared in my room! He looked amazed by my bright desk and electric light. I told him I could study with many books and a computer. He said he used to copy books by candlelight and walked miles to borrow books. Though he lived a hard life, he never gave up learning.
Song Lian was moved by modern learning tools. He encouraged me to cherish my good conditions. His story taught me that hard work is the key to success. I will study harder from now on.
