Interested in a solo (单独) travel in Greece? Want to have a safe and fun trip exploring on your own? Then you’re in the right place! Now, let’s explore something you need to learn about solo travel to Greece.
Is Solo Travel in Greece Worth It?
Yes! The country offers an experience that is perfect for solo travel. Public transport is convenient, especially between popular islands and main cities. The locals are friendly and often go out of their way to help tourists. Cultural sites like the Acropolis in Athens and the ancient ruins in Delphi are well-organized, making it easy to explore.
Where Is Greece?
Located in southeastern Europe, at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, Greece is most famous for its coastlines. The mainland offers rugged (崎岖) mountains, ancient ruins (古代遗迹) and cities like Athens. Then you have the islands, which are divided into groups like the Cyclades, Ionian, Dodecanese and more. Each has its own beauty. Personally, I recommend adding a Cyclades island adventure to your journey.
Getting To Greece
Getting to Greece is easy, with most solo trips to Greece starting in Athens. Once you land in Athens Airport, flights to other cities and islands are frequent, especially booked in advance. If you are heading straight into Athens, use the subway and take the40-minute trip to start your solo travel in Athens.
Best Time to Take a Solo Greece Trip
When it comes to the best time for solo travel to Greece, it really depends. The high season (June to September) offers the best weather but also comes with crowds and higher prices. Come just after the rush (October and November) and it will be perfect. It will be warm enough for solo beach days but not too crowded.

A. Coastlines. B. Islands. C. Ancient ruins. D. Beaches.
22. When can you come to Greece without too much crowds?
A. In July. B. In August. C. In September. D. In October.
23. What is the purpose of the text?

In the Pacific Northwest during winter, 5:15 a.m. might be the dead of night. The alarm goes off and the only light is the red glow from my clock. My body says, “Go back to bed.” But I don’t. I know my running partner will be waiting in the street and I’m not going to stand her up. Then I walk onto the road, complaining about the cold and wishing I were back under my warm covers.
If you’d have asked me a year ago if I could see myself running at 5:15 on a winter morning, I’d have laughed. Morning just wasn’t my thing and running in the morning was something I didn’t even consider. “I prefer to work out in the middle of the morning or in the afternoon,” I’d say to my friends who go to the gym before work.
Then, last fall I reconnected with an old friend. She’d been running in the morning and taken off forty pounds. When I looked in the mirror, I knew I could benefit from the same kind of weight loss. I asked if I could join her. I knew I needed to change something if I was going to get back in shape.
The first two months were especially hard, because we ran twice a week at 5:15 a.m. and I slept till 7:00 the other mornings. But as I’ve adjusted to the routine of running, I’ve discovered great joys that make it even more worthwhile than a little weight loss.
While I haven’t lost forty pounds yet, it’s amazing how much more energy I have and how much stronger I feel. Because of the morning run, the rest of my day is more productive. I wouldn’t say I’ve become a morning person, but I would say morning running is now my thing.
24. What can we know about the author from paragraph 1?
A. 5:15 a.m. is the best time for her to exercise.
B. She prefers to run alone without any company.
C. She goes for a run despite the cold and early rise.
D. She always takes the run with many warm clothes on.
25. What was the author’s attitude to morning running a year ago?
A. Unfavorable. B. Scared. C. Confused. D. Supportive.
26. What made the author begin to run in the morning?
A. Her partner’s encouragement. B. Her friend’s suggestion.
C. Realizing the harm of being fat. D. Realizing the benefits of running.
27. What effect does morning running have on the author?
A. She has become slim again. B. She has become more energetic.
C. She has become more confident. D. She has become more imaginative.

We are all aware of the damaging pollution that’s created by driving petrol and diesel (柴油) vehicles. Many of the world’s cities are blocked with traffic, creating fumes containing gases such as nitrogen oxides. The solution for a cleaner, greener future could be electric vehicles. But how optimistic should we be? There was much excitement last year when the UK government announced it will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030. But is that easier said than done?
The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off. Currently, battery life is an issue — a fully charged battery won’t take you as far as a full tank of petrol. There are also limited numbers of charging points to plug an EV into. Of course, technology is always improving. Some of the biggest tech companies, like Google and Tesla, are spending huge amounts of money developing electric cars. And most of the big car manufacturers are now making them too. Colin Herron, a consultant on low-carbon vehicle technology, told the BBC: “The big leap forward will come with solid state batteries, which will appear first in mobile phones and laptops before they progress to cars.” These will charge more quickly and give cars a bigger range. Cost is another issue that may discourage people switching to electric power. But some countries offer incentive, such as cutting prices by reducing import taxes, and not charging for road tax and parking. Some also provide exclusive lanes for electric cars to be driven on, overtaking traditional cars which might be stuck in jams.
These kinds of measures have made Norway the country with the most electric cars per capita (人均) at more than thirty electric cars per 1000 inhabitants. But Colin Herron warns that “electric motoring” doesn’t mean a zero-carbon future. “It’s emission-free motoring, but the car has to be built, the battery has to be built, and the electricity does come from somewhere.” Maybe it’s time to think about making fewer journeys or using public transport.
28. What can we infer from the question at the end of paragraph 1?
A. We should not be too optimistic about the future.
B. Electric vehicles may not solve the traffic problems.
C. It’s not a good idea to replace petrol vehicles with electric ones.
D. It is not easy to obtain a greener future by means of electric vehicles.
29. What does the underlined word “incentive” mean in paragraph 2?
A. payment B. income C. encouragement D. method
30. Which statement is true according to the passage?
A. Electric motoring will create a zero-carbon future.
B. Electric cars might not get stuck in traffic jams in the future.
C. There are four obstacles on the road to global traffic being totally electric.
D. Putting solid-state batteries in electric cars first will be a “great leap forward”.
31 What is the most suitable title for the text?
A. Total Electric Traffic: a Long Way to Go
B. Electric Vehicles: a Road to a Greener Future
C. Electric Power or Petrol: a Tough Decision to Make
D. Petrol and Diesel Vehicles: a Main source of Gases
D
In the digital age, reading habits have changed greatly. Many people skim (略读) texts to get the main ideas quickly, while others read every word carefully. A recent study shows that Americans read fewer books than they did 30 years ago, spending only 26 minutes a day reading compared to three hours on the Internet or watching TV. This change has led to more skimming rather than deep, close reading.
Scientists think that skimming is a good reading method especially for quick understanding of general ideas. Daniel Willingham, a scientist, suggests that skimming is acceptable as long as it doesn’t get in the way of understanding. Joanna Christodoulou, another scientist, says that skimming is suitable for light reading, such as beach novels, which don’t need deep thinking.
On the other hand, close reading means connecting new information to what you already know, asking questions, and getting a better understanding of the text. This method activates more brain areas than skimming and is important for academic (专业的) reading, such as when a graduate student needs to remember information long after reading.
However, the rise of digital media has led to more skim reading, as online texts are often short and easy to get. Christodoulou thinks this change has made us less able to focus on and understand long texts well, and it’s also harming our thinking skills and how long we can pay attention, especially for young readers. However, some others believe that how skim reading affects (影响) readers is still unclear.
Willingham suggests that reading habits are changing mainly because of the endless fun choices on the Internet rather than less ability to focus. He believes that most people can develop close reading skills with practice. Christodoulou thinks that each person’s reading journey is different, driven by different reasons. So it’s more useful to understand that both skimming and close reading are important methods, especially in the digital age, rather than viewing them as completely different.
32. How does the writer support the viewpoint in paragraph 1?
A. By listing numbers. B. By making a guess.
C. By telling a story. D. By raising questions.
33. What will Willingham probably agree with about skimming?
A. It is unacceptable.
B. It is best for academic reading.
C. It is less useful than close reading.
D. It is fine unless it affects understanding.
34. What does close reading include?
A. Focusing on easy texts. B. Avoiding asking questions.
C. Connecting with old knowledge. D. Getting the main idea quickly.
35. What does Christodoulou think of the rise of digital media?
A. Creative. B. Harmful. C. Scary. D. Necessary.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been shy. The thought of talking to new people or being the center of attention made my heart race and palms sweat. As I entered middle school, this shyness turned into social anxiety, making it even harder for me to interact with my peers.
One day, during a class presentation, I stumbled (结巴) over my words and everyone laughed. I felt extremely ashamed. That only made my social anxiety worse, and I started avoiding speaking in front of others.
My parents noticed my struggle and suggested I talk to our family therapist (治疗专家), Dr. Smith. At first, I hesitated, but I knew I needed help. During our first period, Dr. Smith explained that social anxiety was a common issue and there were ways to overcome it. She recommended some effective treatments. Over the next few months, I attended weekly treatment with Dr. Smith. Slowly but surely, I began to feel more confident in myself. As part of the treatment, Dr. Smith encouraged me to take part in school events and clubs that interested me. It was terrifying to put myself out there, but I knew it was necessary for my growth.

Good morning, everyone. Today I’d like to put forward some suggestions on how we can bring more visitors to our beautiful Switzerland. Right now, most tourists come in winter for skiing in the Alps, especially in places like Zermatt. In summer, they come for hiking and mountain biking in cities like Lucerne. However, we can do more to make Switzerland a year-round destination. First, our quiet nature and fresh air are perfect for health tourism, which is becoming more popular worldwide. Second, we can promote cultural experiences, such as holding international music festivals in Geneva, trying food at street markets, and hosting free cheese-making workshops. This will attract tourists who want more than just beautiful views. Additionally, we should improve transportation between smaller towns, making it easier for tourists to explore hidden spots. Last but not least, we can also partner with advertising companies and travel reporters to share Switzerland’s beauty on social media. With these strategies, we can show the world that Switzerland has something to offer in every season. Thank you!

Located in southeastern Europe, at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, Greece is most famous for its coastlines. The mainland offers rugged (崎岖的) mountains, ancient ruins (古代遗迹) and cities like Athens.
C 25. A 26. D 27. B

根据第一段中“In the Pacific Northwest during winter, 5:15 am might as well be the dead of night.(在太平洋西北地区的冬天,早上5点15分可能是深夜)”以及“I know my running partner will be waiting in the street and I’m not going to stand her up. Then I walk onto the road, complaining about the cold and wishing I were back under my warm covers. (我知道我的跑步搭档会在街上等我,我不会放她鸽子的。 然后我走到路上,抱怨着天气太冷了,希望能回到温暖的被窝里)”可知,作者不顾寒冷,早起去跑步。故选C。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段“If you’d have asked me a year ago if I could see myself running at 5:15 on a winter morning, I’d have laughed. Morning just wasn’t my thing and running in the morning was something I didn’t even consider. “I prefer to work out in the middle of the morning or in the afternoon,” I’d say to my friends who go to the gym before work. (如果你一年前问我,我能不能想象自己在一个冬天的早晨5:15跑步的样子,我会笑的。 早上不是我所喜欢的,我甚至没有考虑过早上跑步。“我更喜欢在上午或下午锻炼,”我会对上班前去健身房的朋友们说)”可推知,作者一年前对晨跑的态度是不支持。故选A。
根据第三段“Then, last fall I reconnected with an old neighborhood friend. She’d been running in the morning and taken off forty pounds that year. When I looked in the mirror, I knew I could benefit from the same kind of weight loss. I asked if I could join her. I knew I needed to change something if I was going to get back in shape. C
D It is not easy to obtain a greener future by means of electric vehicles.
31. What is the most suitable title for the text?
A. Total Electric Traffic: a Long Way to Go
B. Electric Vehicles: a Road to a Greener Future
C. Electric Power or Petrol: a Tough Decision to Make
D. Petrol and Diesel Vehicles: a Main source of Gases
D 29. C 30. B 31. A
根据第一段最后一句“But is that easier said than done?(但这说起来容易做起来难吗?)” 第二段第一句“The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off.(实现全球交通完全电动化的道路还有很长的路要走。)”
根据划线词前一句“Cost is another issue that may discourage people switching to electric power.(成本是另一个可能阻碍人们转向电力的问题。)”和划线词后的“such as cutting prices by reducing import taxes, and not charging for road tax and parking. (比如通过降低进口税来降低价格,以及不收取道路税和停车费。)”可知,划线词后的举例是对incentive的进一步说明,通过降低进口税来降价以及不收取道路税和停车费,这些有助于降低购买和使用成本,有助于激励人们购买,incentive意为“激励措施”,与encouragement(起激励作用的事物)意思最接近。故选C。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。文章第二段讲到“Currently, battery life is an issue (目前,电池寿命是一个问题)”以及“Cost is another issue that may discourage people switching to electric power. (成本是另一个可能阻碍人们转向电力的问题。)”可知,C项“在全球交通完全电动化的道路上有四个障碍”是错误的。最后一段讲到“But Colin Herron warns that “electric motoring” doesn’t mean a zero-carbon future (但是科林·赫伦警告说“电动汽车”并不意味着零碳排放的未来)”可知,A项“电动汽车将创造一个零碳的未来”是错误的。第二段还讲到“The big leap forward will come with solid state batteries, which will appear first in mobile phones and laptops before they progress to cars (固态电池将带来巨大的飞跃,它将首先出现在手机和笔记本电脑中,然后才会发展为汽车)”可知,D项“首先将固态电池应用于电动汽车将是一次“大跃进””是错误的。根据第二段“Some also provide exclusive lanes for electric cars to be driven on, overtaking traditional cars which might be stuck in jams.(一些国家还为电动汽车提供专用车道,超越可能陷入拥堵的传统汽车。)”
通读全文,尤其是第二段“The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off.(实现全球交通完全电动化的道路还有很长的路要走。)” 故选A。
Scientists think that skimming is a good reading method, especially for quick understanding of general ideas.
A. Creative. B. Harmful. C. Scary. D. Necessary.
A 33. D 34. C 35. B

上文“Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and wildfires, can strike at any time and cause serious harm.(自然灾害,如地震、洪水、飓风和野火,可能随时发生并造成严重危害)”说明自然灾害的突发性和危害性。下文“Below are some clear measures you can follow to prevent danger, and act safely if a disaster hits.(以下是一些您可以遵循的明确措施,以防止危险,并在灾难发生时采取安全行动)”说明可以在自然灾害发生的时候采取措施。 G选项中的“these events”与上文中的“Natural disasters”相呼应,“take steps to protect ourselves”和下文中的“some clear measures you can follow to prevent danger”相呼应。
下文“a flashlight, a first-aid kit, bottled water, food (such as energy bars), and a basic tool like a knife.(手电筒、急救箱、瓶装水、食物(如能量棒)和刀等基本工具)”说明急救包中需要的东西。
上文“Find out which natural disasters are common in your area—earthquakes, floods, or storms—and research the nearest shelter, high ground, or safe room.(找出你所在地区常见的自然灾害——地震、洪水或风暴——并研究最近的避难所、高地或安全房间)”说明要了解当地的自然灾害和避难所。
下文“Schedule the exercises at least twice a year, which can help you remember what to do under pressure. Practice “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” for earthquakes, or “Get Low and Go” for floods.(至少每年安排两次演练,这可以帮助你记住在压力下该做什么。练习地震时的“趴下、掩护、坚持住”,或洪水时的“放低身子,走”)”说明要定期进行安全演练。空处是该段的总起句,应概括这一内容。所以A项“定期练习安全程序”符合语境。A选项中的“Practice safety procedures regularly”与后文中的“Schedule the exercises at least twice a year”相呼应,故选A。
上文“agree on a family or group meeting point and an out-of-area contact person — someone who can call (relay) messages if local lines are down.(商定一个家庭或团体集合点,以及一个外地联系人——如果当地线路中断,可以打电话(转接)信息的人。)” E选项中的“clear and safe communication”与前文中的“call (relay) messages”相呼应,故选E。
