Today, they provide diverse experiences, inviting visitors to step into entirely different worlds. Here is a quick guide to some of the most popular types. Storybook Lands These parks are the kingdom of fantasy, primarily designed for families with young children. Gentle rides, live shows featuring beloved characters, and magical castles define the experience. The primary goal here is to create a safe, colorful environment where fairy tales come to life, and wonder is around every corner. It’s a place for meeting childhood heroes and making first unforgettable memories. Thrill-Seeker’s Paradise At the opposite end of the spectrum, these parks are all about adrenaline They are dominated by high-speed roller coasters, dramatic drops, and immersive simulations that push the limits of gravity. The audience is mainly teenagers and young adults searching for excitement and a physical challenge. The louder the screams, the more successful the ride is considered. Cinematic Universes These parks bring the magic of movies and superhero comics directly to the public. Visitors can explore detailed recreations of famous film sets, join missions with their favorite characters, and experience cutting-edge special effects. The line between the screen and reality blurs here, offering fans a chance to live inside the stories they love. It’s a powerful form of interactive entertainment for all ages. No matter your age or interest, there is a theme park designed just for you. From the gentle magic of childhood stories to the heart-pounding excitement of extreme rides, these parks offer a perfect escape from everyday life, promising a day full of joy, wonder, and unforgettable adventures for everyone. 1. To perform missions from popular movies. 2. Who would most likely be attracted to a “Thrill-Seeker’s Paradise”? A Families with small children. B. Movie fans looking for interaction. C. Young people seeking excitement. D. Tourists interested in learning history. 3. Where is this text most probably taken from? A. A science textbook B. A travel magazine. C. A research report. D. A history document. B Charles Robert Darwin (12 February 1809, Shropshire, England) demonstrated a scientific talent from childhood. His keen interest in chemistry was evident even in his school days, leading his peers to call him “Gas”. In 1825 his father sent him to study medicine at Edinburgh University, where he learned how to classify plants. Darwin became passionate about natural history and this became his focus while he studied at Cambridge. Darwin went on a voyage together with Robert Fitzroy, the captain of HMS Beagle, to South America to facilitate British trade in Patagonia. The journey was life-changing. Darwin spent much of the trip on land collecting samples of plants, animals and rocks, which helped him to develop an understanding of the processes that shape the Earth’s surface. Darwin’s analysis of the plants and animals that he gathered led him to express doubts on former explanations about how species formed and evolved over time. Darwin’s work convinced him that natural selection was key to understanding the development of the natural world. The theory of natural selection says that individuals of a species are more likely to survive when they inherit (经遗传获得) characteristics best suited for that specific environment. These features then become more widespread and can lead eventually to the development of a new species. Darwin married his cousin, Emma Wedgwood, in 1839. When Darwin’s eldest daughter, Annie, died from a sudden illness in 1851, he lost his belief in God. His tenth and final child, Charles Waring Darwin, was born in 1856. Significantly for Darwin, this baby was disabled, changing how Darwin thought about the human species. Darwin had previously thought that species remained adapted until the environment changed; he now believed that every new variation was imperfect and that a struggle to survive was what drove species to adapt. Though rejected at the beginning, Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection is nowadays well accepted by the scientific community as the best evidence-based explanation for the diversity and complexity of life on Earth. 4. What made Darwin reconsider the origin and development of species? A. Examining plants and animals collected. B. His desire for a voyage to different continents. C. Classifying samples in a journey to South America. D. His passion for natural history at Edinburgh University. 5. Which of the following changed Darwin’s view on the human species? A. That he had ten children in all. B. That he lost his eldest daughter. C. His youngest kid’s being disabled. D. His marriage with Emma Wedgwood. 6. What can we learn from the text? A. Darwin’s interest of study never changed. B. Darwin’s happy family gave him much support in his studies. C. Darwin’s theory of evolution was accepted at the very beginning. D. Darwin’s discoveries were based on his life and field studies. 7. What is the text mainly about? A. Charles Darwin’s changing interest. B. Charles Darwin’s life and work. C. Charles Darwin’s passion for medical science. D. Charles Darwin’s voyage and family stories C Soil as an Antidepressant: Fact or Fiction? Many gardening claims spread online, but one has become particularly popular: “Soil is an antidepressant.” According to this idea, supported through countless social media posts, Mycobacterium vaccae — a microbe (微生物) naturally found in soil — can actually boost your mood. All you apparently have to do to experience this benefit is get your hands in contact with earth. The bacteria are said to be absorbed through your skin or breathed in from the air, and they will quickly get to work transforming your brain chemistry for the better. But is all this a bit too good to be true? Although the claim may initially seem a little outlandish, there have actually been a range of studies investigating the effect of this microbe on a variety of conditions, from eczema to cancer. In fact, Mycobacterium vaccae was first extracted in soil samples from Uganda by scientists in order to find a harmless close cousin of the deadly Mycobacterium tuberculosis that could be used as a form of immunotherapy Scientists became more interested in its possible effects on depression when lung cancer patients receiving the bacteria reported feeling better overall. Several careful studies appeared to confirm these mood-improving effects, leading to widespread sharing of this information online. However, there’s an important limitation: all the studies specifically testing the depression theory were done on mice, not humans. In these experiments, researchers either injected (注射) the bacteria into the mice’s blood or added it to their food. This matters because results from animal studies often don’t work the same way in humans. For example, one analysis of 76 animal studies found that only 37% produced similar results when tried with people. Additionally, all the mice in these studies were males of the same special breed. The bacteria weren’t breathed in or absorbed through the skin — they were given in pure form directly into the body. As someone interested in how nature affects mental health, I’m excited to see what future research reveals. However, despite the confident claims online, we can only say that “soil is an antidepressant” if you’re a specific type of male mouse that has been injected with pure bacteria from soil — and since you’re reading this, I assume you’re not. 8. What does the underlined word “outlandish” most probably mean in paragraph 2? A. Popular and widely accepted. B. Strange and difficult to believe. C. Scientific and well-researched. D. Boring and complex to understand. 9. What was the original purpose of extracting Mycobacterium vaccae? A. To find a cure for depression B To treat lung cancer patients. C. To develop a brand new gardening product. D. To create immunotherapy from a harmless bacterium. 10. What is the key limitation of the studies mentioned? A. They only involved human participants. B. They were conducted only on specific mice. C. They didn’t use purified forms of bacteria. D. They focused only on skin absorption. 11. What is the author’s attitude toward the “soil is an antidepressant” claim? A. Cautious. B. Disapproving. C. Supportive. D. Uninterested. D Sometimes, the best thing for a penguin is to go with the flow. Magellanic penguins change their strategy for directing themselves home based on the strength of ocean currents: swimming almost straight back to their colonies (栖息地) in calm waters, but following currents when they are strong — traveling farther but conserving energy; researchers report in PLOS Biology. From September to February, Magellanic penguins raise their young in coastal colonies of Chile and Argentina. Adult penguins travel more than 100 kilometers in one trip to find small fish to feed their babies. Such long ocean journeys require not only a keen sense of direction but skills in dealing with ocean currents, which can either aid movement — like how sea turtles use currents for their seasonal movements — or sweep animals off course. While penguins can swim against strong currents, study coauthor Wilson notes that it’s not wise: “Why catch all that fish just to waste energy swimming against the current?” To uncover their strategies, Wilson and coworkers monitored 27 adult penguins from Argentina’s San Lorenzo colony using GPS and movement trackers under varying current conditions. After nearly 30 hours of fishing, their return trips — lasting up to 16 hours — always began with the penguins pointing directly toward their colonies, but their following path depended on the day’s ocean conditions. In calm waters, they maintained a nearly straight line. However, in strong currents, they adopted S-shaped paths following the area’s natural current patterns. As currents changed direction during their journey, they avoided being carried too far off course. These longer trips not only provided extra fishing opportunities but saved energy, according to estimates of the effort required to swim at specific speeds. This behavior suggests penguins assess current strength and direction to select the best paths to follow. Their ability likely originates from a mix of natural tendency — genetically built rough guides to the sea — and learning, with young penguins observing and copying adult behavior to refine their skills. 12. How does the author present the fact in the first paragraph? A. By referring to a report. B. By explaining a term. C. By giving examples. D. By comparing data. 13. What determines the penguins’ next path to follow according to the research? A. The effort required to swim. B. The length of fishing time. C. The distance of fishing trips. D. The conditions of daily currents. 14. What does the author try to illustrate by mentioning “S shaped paths” in paragraph 4? A. The opportunity for extra fishing. B. The consequence of wasting energy. C. The method of avoiding strong currents. D. The strategy of adapting to strong currents. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Magellanic Penguins: Masters of Long Trips B. Ocean Currents: Keys to Penguin Survival C. Magellanic Penguins: Smart Current Users D. Ocean Currents: Calm Tides and Rough Waves How do you write a letter to your future self? Although—I wasn’t very confident about the interview, I still held my head high, trying to stay hopeful under the morning sun. Before leaving, I made sure to stick a note on the fridge that read, “Son, finish your breakfast and have a good day.” Then I walked out of the door. This quiet tradition came from my father. I still remember how, before every trip, he would leave a note on my desk: “I’ll come back with gifts for you.” When I stayed up late studying, I would open my pencil box and find another note inside: “Go to bed and have a good dream.” During summer camp, I would find a little note in my pocket that said, “Take care of yourself.” Those small pieces of paper were my first understanding of love, a gentle way of reminding me that someone always cared. Years later, when my own son Jack was old enough to read, I continued the tradition. I left little notes throughout his life: “You are smarter than you think” in his math book, “Son, my little sun” on his bedroom door, and “Good luck at soccer” inside his shoe. He never said anything about them, but he became a happy, brave, and kind boy. That was enough for me. Then came the hardest winter of my life. My company cut our pay, and people began whispering about who might lose their jobs. I worked every day with a heavy heart, always anxious, but in the end, I was still told to leave. It was a huge shock, but things got even harder. My husband lost his job too and had to move to another city to find work. I didn’t have time to feel sad. I needed to find a new job quickly to support our family. That evening, I dragged my tired body home after yet another fruitless day. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The sweetness of the apple, and the warmth from the note, quietly comforted me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 重庆育才中学高 2027 届高二(上)期中考试 英语试题 注意事项: 1. 1. His keen interest in chemistry was evident even in his school days, leading his peers to call him “Gas”. In 1825, his father sent him to study medicine at Edinburgh University, where he learned how to classify plants. D. Charles Darwin’s voyage and family stories 【答案】4. A 5. C 6. D 7. Significantly for Darwin, this baby was disabled, changing how Darwin thought about the human species.(他的第十个也是最后一个孩子查尔斯・韦林・达尔文于1856年出生。 C Soil as an Antidepressant: Fact or Fiction? A. To find a cure for depression B. To treat lung cancer patients. B 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第二段中的“Although the claim may initially seem a little outlandish, there have actually been a range of studies investigating the effect of this microbe on a variety of conditions, from eczema to cancer.(尽管这种说法起初可能看起来有些outlandish,但实际上已经有一系列研究调查了这种微生物对从湿疹到癌症等多种疾病的影响。)” 根据第二段中的“Mycobacterium vaccae was first extracted in soil samples from Uganda by scientists in order to find a harmless close cousin of the deadly Mycobacterium tuberculosis that could be used as a form of immunotherapy (免疫疗法).(科学家首次从乌干达的土壤样本中提取出母牛分枝杆菌,目的是寻找致命结核分枝杆菌的一种无害近亲,将其用作免疫疗法。)” 根据第三段中的“However, there’s an important limitation: all the studies specifically testing the depression theory were done on mice, not humans.(然而,有一个重要的限制:所有专门测试抑郁症理论的研究都是在老鼠身上进行的,而不是在人类身上。)”以及“Additionally, all the mice in these studies were males of the same special breed.(此外,这些研究中的所有老鼠都是同一特殊品种的雄性。)” 根据最后一段中的“As someone interested in how nature affects mental health, I’m excited to see what future research reveals. However, despite the confident claims online, we can only say that “soil is an antidepressant” if you’re a specific type of male mouse that has been injected with pure bacteria from soil.(作为一个对自然如何影响心理健康感兴趣的人,我很期待未来的研究能揭示什么。 故选A项。 D Sometimes, the best thing for a penguin is to go with the flow. B By explaining a term. C The method of avoiding strong currents. D. The strategy of adapting to strong currents. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Magellanic Penguins: Masters of Long Trips B. Ocean Currents: Keys to Penguin Survival C. Magellanic Penguins: Smart Current Users D. Ocean Currents: Calm Tides and Rough Waves 【答案】12. A 13. D 14. D 15. Under the intense sun, my gloves soon stained with soil, and my back grew sore from bending — yet seeing the neat, weed-free rows we gradually restored filled me with tangible satisfaction. That afternoon taught me more than just plant growth. It was a lesson in perseverance and respect: every ache deepened my gratitude for those who grow our food. Working alongside classmates, we learned to coordinate — some loosening soil, others removing weeds — transforming exhaustion into collective accomplishment. This labor grounded us in reality, cultivating resilience and responsibility through direct engagement. In today’s screen-dominated world, labor education is more crucial than ever, which will shape us into well-rounded individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to society. This labor grounded us in reality, cultivating resilience and responsibility through direct engagement. This labor, which helps cultivate resilience and responsibility through direct engagement, grounded us in reality. 1】 Last month, our class volunteered at a local farm, where I was assigned to clear an overgrown cucumber patch. 2】  It was a lesson in perseverance and respect: every ache deepened my gratitude for those who grow our food.(运用了who引导的定语从句) 【高分句型3】 This labor grounded us in reality, cultivating resilience and responsibility through direct engagement.(运用了现在分词作状语) 第二节(满分 25 分) 47. Once again, I headed out to look for a job. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 That evening, I dragged my tired body home after yet another fruitless day. Kicking off shoes, I sank into the sofa, the silence of the room pressing heavily on me. My eyes wandered around the room and landed on the fridge, where I used to leave those cheerful notes for Jack. Dragging my feet into the kitchen, I opened the fridge to get some water. Suddenly, something bright caught my eye, a red apple with a folded note under it. I took a bite of the apple, and then picked up the note, “Mom, you’re stronger than you think. Love, Jack.” My eyes blurred instantly, with tears rolling down my cheeks. The sweetness of the apple, and the warmth from the note, quietly comforted me. I smiled through my tears, realizing that love had quietly come full circle. The next morning, I woke with a renewed sense of purpose. Armed with the courage my son had given me, I stepped out into the crisp winter air. This time, instead of anxiety, I carried with me the certainty that love was my greatest strength. Two days later, an offer arrived. And that evening, I left a star-shaped note on our fridge: “We made it, my little sun.” 词汇激活 行为类 ① 拖着脚步:drag one’s feet/drag oneself along ② 瞥见:catch one’s eye/catch a glimpse of ③ 重拾:renew/regain 情绪类 ① 令人愉快的:cheerful/delightful/pleasant ② 焦虑:anxiety/nervousness 【点睛】【高分句型1】My eyes wandered around the room and landed on the fridge, where I used to leave those cheerful notes for Jack. 2】I smiled through my tears, realizing that love had quietly come full circle.
